a little guest

It was an average day for Fluttershy as she was feeding all her animal friends. She was giving Angel bunny a special salad when suddenly she heard the sound of crying. She flew outside to look and see who was crying. She didn't see anypony. "Oh..I don't see anypony." She fluttered around looking. After a while she still saw nopony. As she gotten close to the Everfree forest the sound of the crying became a little louder. On a grey stone was a tiny winged creature, it had white and light blue hair, and wore a grey dress. The creature couldn't be bigger than a paraspirte. Fluttershy approached the creature very quietly. Her voice could barely be heard when she spoke. "Um...If you dont mind me asking...are you okay you seem sad." The creature seemed startled when she heard Fluttershy speak and hid behind the stone she was just sitting on. Fluttershy smiled. "Its okay Im not going to hurt you." The creature flew closer to her. The creature had silver eyes as it looked at Fluttershy. Its voice was so soft and quiet. It was even quieter than Fluttershy's own voice. The creature wiped away some tears. "I need some help. I live past that forest." The creature pointed her small hand towards the Everfree forest. "My whole village needs help. There is a evil force hurting us. I barely was able to escape." Fluttershy looked closely at the creature and saw that one of her wings seemed to have a scratch on it. "My friends could help if you don't mind them helping." The creature nodded and smiled. "That would be most helpful. My name is Glass." Fluttershy smiled back. "Thats a lovely name. Im Fluttershy." Fluttershy looked at the sky noticing that the day would end soon. She turned to Glass. "Let me take you to the Library, my friends will be there." Glass nodded and flew into Fluttershy's light pink mane.

After a few minutes they arrived at the library, Twilight answered the door and let Fluttershy in, not knowing about her friend. Inside everypony seemed to be reading. Rainbow dash was reading the latest Daring doo, Pinkie pie had a cook book, Rarity had a fashion magazine, and Applejack had a book on farming. Twilight shut the door and turned to Fluttershy. "Is there something you need Fluttershy?" She nods. "Um..yes if you don't mind I found this creature her name is Glass and she needs help." Glass flew out of her mane. Her white and light blue hair gleamed under the light and her wings sparkled. Rarity's eyes grew big as she saw her. "why she is stunning, I should totally make you a dress." Glass smiled, she spoke in her soft voice. "its fine but please I need your help." Twilight nodded. "go ahead and tell us, I never would have guessed you were real." Glass nodded. "yeah fairies are best to remain hidden but let me start to tell my story...."

"I live deep in the Everfree forest with my family and other fairies. I am what is known as a dust collector, I got to the mines and gather a sparkling green dust that helps us fly. I'm the smallest in the whole village so no one thinks much of me. One day while I was working there are creatures that live in the mine known as dust moles, they use the dust to grow, they look like regular moles but they aren't. They came to my tunnel where I was working and attacked. I barely got away, they took all the dust so the other fairies can't fly and if they can't fly then they can't do their jobs. my older sister who has one of the most important job which is powering the forest star. The star provides light to our village in the dark forest and with out the light my people won't survive long." Glass looked at the ground. Twilight brought down a book. "Its okay Glass we can help you with the moles." Glass looked up. "You really would help." Rainbow dash flew close to her. "Of course we would, we always help Fluttershy's friends." Fluttershy smiled. "Yeah I told you they would help." Pinkie pie was bouncing around. "You girls know what we should throw a party." Applejack looked at her. "Pinkie this is no time for the party, if I may ask Glass if the dust you described helps you fly then how did you get here." Glass held out a small pouch. "It only has a little bit left and it would be best if we hurry." Twilight nods. "Its late but early in the morning we will leave." Rarity seemed to have left while they were talking and came back with a small dress. Her horn glowed blue as she took the dress to Glass. "I just couldn't let you stay in that grey dress Glass it looked very old." Glass looked at the pale pink dress. The fabric felt so soft. "Thank you Miss Rarity." Applejack smiled. "Well that was nice of you Rarity, now how about we meet everypony here in the morning." The group nods and Glass sits on Fluttershy's head. Fluttershy smiled. "See you girls in the morning."

Fluttershy walked back to her home and put together a spot for Glass to sleep. She took a basket and put a few blankets in making it comfy for her. Glass smiled. She fluttered off of Fluttershys back and went into the basket. "Night." They both said. Then they both went to bed.

the journey begins

Fluttershy wakes up and sees Glass petting Angel bunny. Fluttershy smiled and worked on getting breakfast ready for all her little animal friends. She fed the birds and the bunnies, then she made herself and Glass some breakfast. She didn't know what fairies eat but she figured that Glass might like a apple that she sliced. She looked at Glass. "Um..Glass would you like some breakfast...I don't know what you eat but I hope this apple is fine." Glass spoke softly. "Yeah that's fine thank you Fluttershy." Glass flew over to where Fluttershy put the slices of apples and ate some. The apple was sweet and very tasty. When Glass finished she opened her pouch full of green sparkly dust. She took a pinch with her tiny hands and sprinkled it on her wings. Fluttershy noticed this and wondered about it but then she remembered the story Glass told her and her friends about last night. She looked at the fairy. "Are you ready Glass." Glass nods and flies over to Fluttershy. Fluttershy grabs her saddle bag and looks at Angel bunny. "I'll be back soon Angel be a good bunny." Glass and Fluttershy leave the house.

They head to the library where they meet the others all ready for the trip. Rainbow dash looked at Fluttershy not noticing that Glass was on her head. "Hey Fluttershy where's Glass." Glass flew over to Rainbow dash. "Im here!" Apple Jack fixed her hat and looked at Glass. "I hope you had a good night sleep sugar cube." Glass nods. "Yeah I did." Twilight looked at everypony. "Lets go everypony to the Everfree forest." Fluttershy starts to shake. "Are you sure we need to go there can't you just use a teleport spell?" Twilight shakes her head. "No I'm sorry I can't " Rarity gave Fluttershy a hug. "It will be alright darling." They started walking towards the Everfree except for Pinkie Pie who was hopping and singing. "We are going on a adventure! We are going on a adventure!" Rainbow Dash covered her mouth. "Pinkie this is no time for a song." When She removed her hoof from Pinkie's mouth, Pinkie said, "Yeah your right Dashie, its no time for singing its time for a PPAARRTT..." Before Pinkie could finish Apple Jack said. "Its no time for yer parties Pinkie remember we are suppose to help the fairies. We will not have any parties intill this is done." Pinkie frowned and her hair went flat. "alright.." Glass flew over to Pinkie. Her voice was barely a whisper. "Please don't be sad, I don't like it when others are sad." Pinkie smiled and her hair became bouncy and cute again. "Okie dokie lockie." Glass smiled. She sat on Pinkie's mane intill they got to the entrance of the forest.

Glass shuttered at the sight of the forest. She thought back to when she went in it last. It was so dark and spooky that it scared her. The only reason that the fairies are able to survive them was because of the magical forest star that her older sister was able to make glow. Glass wondered how long till the star would stop glowing. She knew with out the star her village will grow weaker. Twilight looked at Glass. "Ready to lead the way." Glass nodded and flew ahead and started leading the way through the forest. She could hear the sounds of the timber wolves as she was flying and tried not to be scared. Fluttershy heard them too and was hiding behind Apple Jack. "Its alright Fluttershy lets keep going." Fluttershy stutters "o..kay." They were soon deep into the everfree, when they saw a manticore. It had a yellow body with a red mane. The scorpion tail scared Glass. Rainbow Dash looks at the group. "Ill take care of this." She flies as fast as she can and creates a rainbow colored tornado. The manticore slashed his paws at her and she fell to the ground. Twilight looks at Rainbow Dash. "Rainbow Dash don't you remember last time we faced one." Rainbow Dash got up. "Yeah your right." Rarity looked at Fluttershy. "Oh Fluttershy will you please be a dear and see if you could control this beast." "Fluttershy walks up tot he manticore and he smiles at her and licks his mane. Fluttershy smiles. "I see you remember me, may me and my friends go past you." The manticore nods and lets them go past. Glass starts flying looking around for where her village might be. Apple Jack notices Glass looking around. "Uh...sugar cube are we lost." Glass looks at the group. "maybe.."

a story to be telled

After a while of walking Glass started to remember more and more of where they were. She had to use the rest of her dust so she could fly more. She looked at the six ponies that wanted to help. She smiled, Glass never thought she would find ponies or any being that would help her and her village. She wondered how her sister was doing, since she was in charge of making the star glow so that there could be light for the village. She wondered about the elders who protected everyone. She turned to Twilight who was making a map still. "I..Just want to say thank you all...I never thought any would help me." Twilight nods. "Your welcome. Its what we do, we help everypony." Fluttershy flew close by her. "So Glass can you tell us a story about your village.." Rainbow dash nodded. "Yeah didn't you mention something about a star or something like that." Glass nods. "I did. I guess I will tell you a story." Glass sat on Fluttershy's head. Pinkie Pie smiled waiting for the story. Glass takes a deep breath. "A long time ago when the Everfree forest was just forming, us fairies hid from the darkness that surround the forest. We hid from the animals most of the time and took turns keeping watch for any of them while we mined for the dust that makes us fly. Then one night a glowing rock fell to the ground. Us fairies flew to the rock and saw that it was a star. The light that it gave off at first allowed us to see and the animals ran away from it. It became known as the forest star. Things were nice for a while till the star's glow started to dim. We fairies knew that with out the star's light we would have to go back to the darkness. The elders at the time decided that there had to be a fairy that could make it shine since fairies all had a unique job that made the world we live in work. So then every fairy went and tried to make the star glow brighter. Most failed till one of the youngest was able to make it glow. So every day since the fairy who can make the star glow goes over to where it is kept and powers it, making our part of the forest shine bright and we are able to live the end." Glass finished her story and looked at the group.

Rarity flips her mane. "Didn't you tell us earlier that your sister powers the forest star now." Glass nods. "Yes she does her name is Shard and every fairy loves her." She sighs. She was always jealous of her sister and how she got the most important job while she got the worst. Twilight was writing some stuff down taking notes. "So why does your sister do that and not work in the mines like you do." Glass looked at the ground. "Our jobs were given to us when we get to a certain age. The elders assign jobs by seeing what you can do. Me being the smallest in the village they all just figured it would be best to give me an easy job so I tried a few things like farming, building then mining and I got the job as a duct collector." Fluttershy looks at her with a small smile. "Every thing you can do just makes your village run well." Glass nods. "I know. My sister got her job because she was one of the strongest. Her magic was unlike any other in the village because of that she is a student to the village head elder." Rainbow dash chuckles. "Guess that means shes an egg head like our buddy Twilight here." Twilight glares at her. "How many times do I have to tell you Rainbow its okay to be a egg head." Rainbow dash shrugs and continues to fly while the others were walking and Glass continued to sit on Fluttershy. Glass thought to herself. I wonder how my sister is doing.....

In the village

Deep in the Everfree forest past the darkness that lies there, a small glow emanates from a valley. The glowed seemed so warm but over time it seemed to have faded. After a few minutes from when a pony or any creature would see this glow a small village comes into view. There were tiny small shakes that were smashed and close by there was a small mine. On a stone there stood a black mole with a small pink nose. His eyes were red and seemed like they were on fire. He didn't speak like other animals would like in squeaks or chirps, he seemed to speak with real words. "Men where is the dust?" A few giant moles came up. One held a bucket of green sparkly dust. "Here you go sir." The mole takes it and sprinkles the dust on them making him grow larger. "Have any of those pesky fairies got any of this." The group of moles shake their heads. "No sir, all the fairies are too weak to do anything." The leader nods and the others leave. In one of the houses a fairy stood by a sparkling star as it slowly started to dim. "Come on star glow." The fairy had been trying to keep it glowing for a while now but to no avail. The fairy wore a yellow dress and her hair was white. "UH! It wont work. Im too weak." The fairy stopped flying and knelled on the ground. An elder fairy with a long beard approached her. "You are trying too hard Shard." Shard nods. "I know but the star is going to stop shinning....I want it to glow when Glass comes back..." Shard had missed her sister so much. She knew how hard her little sister worked just to help the village, even if she or anyone doesn't believe that it's good. The elder nods. "She is a strong fairy but you know with out any dust soon our time will end." Shard nods. "We need to do something. We need help, maybe we can go through the forest." The elder shakes his head and coughs. "No too dangerous. " Shard nods. "I know but we need to do something." Shard stood up and walked out of the building.

Lost

Twilight looks at Glass. "What do you mean maybe." Glass looked around the Everfree forest. It all seemed unfamiliar to her. Glass spoke in a scared voice. "I'm sorry, I don't remember, I guess I was too scared when I was flying around earlier." Fluttershy smiles and goes closer to Glass. "Its okay Glass we understand don't we girls." Applejack nods. "Of course sugar cube." Pinkie pie bounces up and down. "Yeah its fine Glass we will figure it out soon." There was a sudden howling sound.

Fluttershy shutters. "What...was that.." Glass looks around but only sees the dark creepy shadows of the forest. "I'm not sure...in my village no creatures really bother us because of our star." Twilight listens carefully. "It must be a timber wolf. Lets keep moving maybe you will remember something as we walk Glass." Glass nods and continues to fly. Rarity looks at Twilight. "So Twilight why haven't we heard of fairies before now?" Twilight used her magic and brought out a book she packed in her saddle bag. "The only book I seemed to be able to find on the subject of fairies is this one." Twilight opens it and reads it aloud. "Fairies are flying creatures said to use magic like unicorns. Most is unknown." Glass nods. "Yeah like I mentioned earlier we fairies like to remain hidden." They continue to walk through the dark, creepy forest. The sounds of animals were everywhere. There were the sounds of animals howling and squeaking. Rainbow dash flew though the trees. "So anything ring a bell Glass." Glass looked around. She saw a green colored lake. She thought back that she passed it when she ended up in Ponyville. "I think I passed this when I was flying." Glass looked at the pond. She saw her reflection and moved her white and blue hair out of her eyes. Pinkie Pie was jumping up and down. "This pond reminds me of one from a story that made copies of ponies." Rainbow Dash rolled her eyes. "Yes Pinkie and we all know what happened when you found it." Glass looked at them curiously. "What happened." Apple Jack looked at her. "Well Pinkie and her clones wrecked my barn." Rainbow Dash flew around the pond. "Caused chaos all over Ponyville." Fluttershy nods. "and..so...much more..." Glass nods. "I see." Glass looks around. She looked and saw the dark green vines all over the ground, the dark twisting trees and the dark gloomy sky. "Its so hard for me to figure out where my village is...its so dark and gloomy here and my village is bright." glass said in a sadden voice. Rarity held up her hoof and Glass stood on it. "Don't be sad darling we can figure this out." Fluttershy smiles. "We will don't worry. We will have you home soon." Glass gives a small smile. "Alright. I think we should go this way." Twilight takes out a quill and scroll and starts drawing a map. "Ok lets go." Glass leads the way.
