Chapters I - You don't know Murphy
Hello, I am the narrator, here to tell a story. A story about what? You may ask. A story about ponies, of course! So, Sit back, Relax, and let the story unfold.
---Ponyville Library---
"SPIKE!" Yelled Twilight Sparkle, Librarian of Ponyville's only library, and personal student of Princess Celestia. "Get me my copy of 'Multiversal Theory'!"
"I can't find it!" The young dragon, Spike, shouted back.
"UGH!" Groaned Twilight. "Do I have to do everything myself?"
She levitated the book over to her from the book shelf it was on, begging the question why she always orders Spike to get books, if she knows where they are, and the young dragon does not.
The book read:
The multiversal theory is the theory that there are other universes than our own, where the littlest or biggest thing can be changed.
EXAMPLE: Say one day you sneezed. In another universe you sneezed 3 seconds later. in another you did not sneeze at all. In another pegasi have wings on their feet instead of their back. ect.
There have been have been many attempts to do this, but only some of the most powerful unicorns can achieve it. Here is how to perform it:
The following was magic writing and theory that I cannot explain, so well move on.
"Interesting" Said the mare. "I think I'll try it. What could go wrong?"
Apparently Twilight did not know Murphy's Law: If something can go wrong, it will go wrong. She also did not know that saying 'What could go wrong?' is the same thing as asking for everything to go wrong.
Twilight closed her eyes and started the spell. The purple mare's horn glowed, which was followed by a large flash of light.
She opened her eyes, and then.....
...Nothing
---Somewhere else in time and space---
A gardener in another universe was about to plant his garden for the season, but when he reached for the seeds, they had vanished.
---Ponyville library---
"It... Didn't work..." Twilight said, dissapointed "I must have messed up the spell somehow, oh well."
She closed the book on the floor with her hoof, and walked away, unfortunately, she did not read the final passage on the page.

---Sweet Apple Acres, middle of the orchard---
With a small flash of purple light, a bag of seeds appeared out of nowhere.
It fell onto the ground, and on impact, melted into a puddle of pitch black goo.
It soaked into the ground, and thus, our tale begins.
Well, this is interesting. And is it just me, or does Twilight treat Spike like crap? She's constantly yelling at him, and ordering him to find books that she probably knows the whereabouts of, due to being so organized. And when Spike comes up with something smart, Twilight just replies with 'Don't be rididculous Spike' or something like that. Refer to the episode 'Bridle gossip'.
Welcome back readers, I'm the Narrator, as always, and welcome back to our little 'tail' *phh* ha! look at the pun! ... uuuhh... Anyways, on with the story!
---Everfree forest---
A group of 7 or so parasprites flew through the Everfree forest and into the vast orchards of Sweet apple acres.
Short scene is short.
---Sweet Apple Acres---
The parasprites made their way through the orchard, eating apples and multiplying along the way.
Then they came to a plie of black vines in the grass.
The vines snapped up at the bugs, one by one the parasrites disapeared in a flash, none being quick enough to react. Soon, there were none left.
"~kYuUuUuUmMyYy~"
The bases of the vines started to melt together and the vines themselves rose up into the shape of a small sapling, each branch ending in a spiral.
---Sugarcube corner---
"Uh-oh," Said Pinkie Pie, The pink mare that worked at sugarcube corner. "Right ear twitch, left eye roll, leg cramps, brainfreeze, right eye roll! Uh-Oh! Paraormanl activity! Better tell the girls!"
"Pinkie wait," Yelled Mrs. Cake, the owner of sugarcube corner "You still have to bake those cookies!"
---Sweet Apple Acres---
Applejack was walking through the orchard, bucking apple trees. Then, she saw it.
The Black Tree.
BOOM! Title Drop!
Applejack, being brave as usual did not scream, but instead simply questioned it's existance.
"That don't look like any apple tree Ah've ever seen."
The head bulb at the top of the tree turned to Applejack. Two branches lunged at her, but missed, landing in front of her.
"Ah.. better go get Twai."
Applejack turned and started to run away from the tree, but another long branch lunged at her, this one ending in 2 sharp points. It jabbed into her back, and a toxin from within caused her to faint.
The branch pulled her closer to the tree.
Closer, Closer.
???
Black.
Void.
Emptiness.
Nonexistence.
That was all that Applejack saw.
An empty black void of nothingness. Nothing to be seen. No light, yet it seemed as if there was no darkness either.
'Strange..' she thought.
And strange was the perfect word to describe it. For at that moment, a light came on, except it was not even a light, but instead just the ability to see her actual surroundings.
She seemed to be floating in some sort of black sphere. Two sharp spikes were jammed directly into her flesh, but she felt no pain.
One of the spikes was flashing red. Then it suddenly stopped. It retracted leaving a small hole in her side, but it was not bleeding.
She pondered this for a moment, but a voice interrupted.
"KyUuUuUuUuMyYy"
Applejack realized what was happening.
This thing, whatever it was, was drinking her blood.
She looked back to the hole in her side, only to find it missing, completely filled in, as if the hole was never there.
Suddenly, a purple glow spread through the void.
"NuH-kYo" the voice said.
outside the tree, which was now three quarters the size of the Great Deku Tree from LoZ:OoT
Five ponies stood outside the tree. Two of them, a white unicorn and a yellow pegasus had fainted. Twilight was casting spells on it, while the other two, Pinkie Pie, and a pegasus named Rainbow Dash were just sitting behind her, watching the tree eat passing bugs.
"Did it just talk?" asked Rainbow Dash.
"I think so, but it could have been something else," Twilight said, trying to cast nullifying spells on the tree "But then again, it is moving and eating insects."
"But what if it ate Applejack?" Asked Pinkie Pie
"ShewasntatherhouseorthebarnandwhatifthismeanieweaniepantsateherforeverandshellbegoneandIllhavelostafriendandthisisthemostterriblething *Gasp* EVER!!!!!"
"Don't worry Pinkie," Twilight said "Even if it has eaten her, we could get her out before she's digested, if this thing can even digest."
The white unicorn, Rarity, who was just waking up, heard the word 'digested', and fell unconcious again.
Twilight shot the tree with another blast of magic, and an orange figure fell out.
"APPLEJACK!!" The three ponies who were awake yelled out and rushed over to the yellow maned mare who had been rendered unconcious.
Uuuh, i'm so tired right now, let's just get this over with.
---ponyville library---
Three ponies sat around a table in the library.
Fluttershy and Rarity- You know who they are, i'm going to stop explaining who ponies are now.- Had woken up and were tending to Applejack.
Rainbow Dash, Twilight Sparkle, and Pinkamena Diane Pie were discussing what to do about the tree.
Spike was getting the lemonade, because Spike is apperently Twilight's slave, and he has no choice.
"If it keeps growing like it did earlier, it might spread seeds, spread across the land, and destroy ponyville, no, ALL OF EQUESTRIA!!!!!" Twilight screamed, obviously panicking at this point. Her mane was frazzled as well.
"I say we just go up to it and kick it's flank!" Said Rinbow.
"Silly Dashie, Trees don't have flanks" Replied Pinkie.
Rarity decided to pipe in at this point. "Why not send a letter to Princess Celestia asking for the elements of harmony."
"Great idea Rarity!" Twilight responded. "We'll send a letter to princess Celestia, she'll send up the Elements of Harmony, and we'll stop the tree. Spike take a letter."
Spike, who was holding the tray with the lemonade on it, which was balanced on a stack of books, replied "Uum, Okay Twilight..." He put the books on the floor and picked up a quill and paper.
"Spike! Don't put books on the floor."
Spike put the books on the table.
"Spike! Organize those books, put them on the shelves."
Spike picked up the books and started walking towards the shelves.
"Spike! What's taking so long? We need to write a letter to the princess.
Spike put the books down and went over to get the quill and paper.
"Spike! Don't put books on the floor."
---2 hours later---
Spike had finally organized all the books and had picked up the paper and quill after Twilight constantly ordered him to go back and forth.
"Finally," Said Twilight "What took you so long?"
"You." Mumbled the disgruntled purple dragon.
"What was that?"
"Nothing."
"Anyways," Stated the leavender mare "Spike, take a letter.
Dear Princess Celestia,
A strange and monstrous tree has started growing in Sweet Apple Acres. It has hurt Applejack and is still growing. We request use of the elements of harmony to defeat this threat to the safety of Equestria. If we don't act soon, it could grow to the size of Canterlot Mountain.
Your faithful student, Twilight Sparkle."
"Alright Spike," Said Twilight "Send the letter."
Green flames (Which on an unrelated note are eerily similar to a changeling's) engulfed the letter, which would normally burn it, but Spike is a MAGIC
"Now what?" Asked Rainbow Dash.
"Now," Replied the lavender Unicorn "We wait."
---A 30 minute timeframe, also known as half an hour, later---
There was a loud knock on the door.
."Spike! Can you get the door?" Shouted Twilight.
The young Dragon walked over to and opened said door, only to be trampled by two royal guards. Said Guards Levitated a box over to Twilight. "Under her royal highness princess Celestia of Equestria's orders," Said one guard "We present these to you." He opened the box, which revealed the elements of harmony.
Twilight took the box into her telekinetic grip. "Thank you sirs, you may go." She said, and the guards left. "Now we just have to wait for Applejack to wake up."
Luckily Applejack was stirring already, though she was...er.....talking in her sleep.
"Gah, killer to-MAY-toes! Saves us, Apple-man!"
---10 minutes later, Sweet Apple Acres orchard---
"KyYeEe."
The Bearers of the Elements of Harmony stood before the tree, The elements themselves where perched upon said ponies' necks (Save for Twilight, Whose element was perched upon her head).
"Ready Girls?" Asked Twilight.
"Ready." The others called out.
They were lifted off the ground, eyes glowing.
The world was cleansed in rainbow light, and only one sound was to be heard.
"kYaAaRrAaAaA!!!!!"
The light faded, and the sound was replaced with another sound.
Crying.
Alright, this is the end bit sorry for the wait, but I'm the narrator, not the author, so blame him.
Shut Up!
---Sweet Apple Acres Orchard---
A little Green Coated, Black Maned, blue-eyed foal sat right where the tree had been. It was bawling it's eyes out, figuratively of course, causing such a racket that it woke granny smith, who was all the way at the farmhouse.
"What the..."
"What is it?"
"I think it's a foal."
"Applejack! Don't go near it!" It could be dangerous!" Shouted Twilight, obviously worried about whatever had come from the tree.
Applejack responded with "Twai, It's a foal, it ain't gonna bite." That seemed to calm Twilight down a bit, but not much. "And if it's a foal on the apple family farm, then it's an apple." Applejack picked up the foal and it stop crying and cooed in her.... hooves. "Ah'm gonna name you Black Apple."
He giggled.

Rainbow Dash and Twilight argued with Applejack all the way back to the farmhouse, then Applejack had to explain to her family, but I think you get the point.
II - Average ordinary everyday
Welcome back ladies and gents, it is I, The Narrator again, and welcome back to our little tale. Now that we have our introduction, how about we have a look into the daily life of these ponies. Now, let's begin
---Sweet Apple Acres House---
"Have a good day at school lil' sis!" Applejack, The orange mare that lived and breathed apples, said to her little sister, Applebloom "And if 'em bullies bother you, ignore 'em 'kay?"
"But big sis'" the young filly said "They always sa-" She was cut off by Applejack.
"Ah don't care what they say, just ignore em'." She stated firmly.
"Fine." the filly said, then walked off to school.
"Alright," said the older sibling "Ah've got some saplin's ta plant."
"BIG BROTHER!" Applejack yelled out.
"Eeyup." Said Big macintosh, A large red stallion that was standing right behind applejack.
"GAH!" The orange mare shouted in surprise, due to her lack of knowledge that her brother was standing right behind her. "Don't do that."
So Applejack hooked up the cart to Big Macintosh and loaded the sapling into it. They walked for a while, until they came to the planting site.
Oh, and Applejack tripped on something, but that's not important...
OR IS IT?
... anyways,
Big Mac dug a hole into the ground and Applejack unloaded a sapling; then planted it in the ground.
While Macintosh began to dig the second hole, Applejack heard a sound; a sound she knew all to well.
The sound of an apple being eaten.
A long black vine whipped back from an apple tree before Applejack could see it.
"Hmm?" She hummed, wondering where the sound had come from.
"Alraght Varmint!" She yelled "Come on out! Nopony steals from us Apples!"
"Leave it 'lone AJ," Said the Red Stallion "they're prolly gone by now."
"Ya, yer right" She replied.
So they planted the rest of the saplings and left.
Little did they know, that little incident was simply a prelude to the storm to come.
A small black vine lifted itself from the ground.
Then another.
Then another.
On the end of the third vine, there was a bulb; on the bulb was a mouth, with very sharp teeth.
