Little Lyra and You
You walked through the door and let a sad sigh escape your lips as you set your backpack down while slipping out of your Nikes. Your gray hoodie was soaked from the rain, but it luckily protected your white pocket T-shirt and jeans. Today had been a large, overwhelming, stressful day at work day. You had gotten your ass chewed out by your boss and tripped going down the stairs. To make matters worse no one helped you, but your friends, instead everyone who passed by either laughed or just kept walking.
"Work why you such a bother?" you said as you walked over to your Xbox and popped in a copy Borderlands 2. "Maybe sniping a few bandits will help take my mind off this horrendous day."
As you began to sit down you heard a familiar sound of little hooves on the floor. you paused your game and looked down to see the little ball of fur that could make any day better with her simple appearance. A small mint green unicorn with a lighter shade of mint green mane that had a small white stripe ,and a horn separating it all, sat at the base of your feet. Her hooves on your socked foot and a expression that pretty much said "Hold me!" in it's own simple way. You smile gently and bend down holding out your hand for her to get onto. Her small body was no longer than your Iphone and she was about 5 inches tall, so picking her up was no problem. She gladly complies with a smile and you pull back up sitting in your comfy recliner. Instead of sitting in your hand all day, she trots off into your lap and begins to nudge your stomach with her nose.
"What is it Lyra?" You say as you pick her up again. You had tried to get her to talk before, but all that came out was small neighs, whinnies, and coughing noises. She open her mouth and points into it. "Oh your hungry right?" She eagerly nodded in response and you chuckled.
Lyra had developed a very 'sophisticated' form of sign-language and could write on your NintendoDSi's note function. You go to your backpack and pull out your DSi so she can tell you what she wants for lunch. You had taught her how to get and open the snacks you leave on the counter for her before you leave for work, but sometimes and for some odd reason it wasn't enough to keep her full. You let her jump onto the counter and open the DSi to the notes menu.
"Okay so what do you want to eat Lyra?" You ask the small pony. While she scribbled on the plastic surface of the device with her hoof while you remembered the first day she was here. 'Man I freaked the hell out when I first saw her. I mean I have heard of a little problem, but that was ridiculous.' You thought as she finished writing on the small fold-able tablet.
May I have a cookie? was what the device read. You looked from it to the small unicorn who, now, was wearing the puppy dog eyes.
"Okay, okay just enough with the face already!" You say giving her chin a small scratch. It was a small habit you started to get into after awhile of living with Lyra. Her face became completely relaxed and her tail began to wag as you reached her 'sweet spot' as you called it. Her hind leg slightly twitched with joy as you scratch for a second longer before retreating to get the cookie. She slightly whined in protest, but lightened up as you returned with two halves of a cookie(half for you, half for her). You placed the cookie halves on a napkin and picked her up placing her on your shoulder. You picked up the napkin containing the cookie halves and walked back to the chair. as you sat back down you broke one of the cookie halves and gave it to Lyra, who happily took the cookie bit in her magic. As she nibbled on the cookie you picked up the remote controller and began your game again.

After about a hour and a half of slaughtering bandits without any type of mercy you finally put the remote down and Lyra gave a small yawn. You inwardly D'aawwwwwed because you found that doing that woke her right back up. She almost rolled off your shoulder until you caught her with your hand and she flopped onto her back slightly snoring. You smiled even more when you looked upon the sleeping pony. With a small content sigh you pulled the lever on the side of the chair and leaned back. Placing the small pony on your chest you decided a small nap would be appropriate after a miserable day and the small sleeping pony was all the more compelling to do as such.
Placing an arm over your eyes you effectively removed the lighting from your sight allowing you to comfortably sleep. A snore soon escapes you as your mind finally gives it's self a moments respite.

You soon were awoken by a very loud whine or high pitched scream coming from Lyra. You almost bolted up and run to help her if she wasn't hiding under your chin. You gently grabbed her from under your jaw. She was shaking worse than a leaf in a hurricane.
"Lyra what is wrong?" You ask her as the only response you get is her shakily pointing a hoof towards the window. You look outside and see a thunderstorm in progress. "Ah...That is what is wrong. Wanna watch a movie to take your mind off of it?"
*CRACK BOOOOM*
Lyra quickly nods and curls up into a ball in your hand. You place her in your shirt pocket. As your walking she pops out her head and rests her hooves on the edge of the pocket. You reach your movie shelf and pick out a series that always calmed her down. Grabbing a season of the 'Big Bang Theory' you walked back to the living room and placed it in the DVD player. Sitting back down you let Lyra stay hidden for awhile until she heard the familiar voices of Sheldon and Leonard arguing over some science thing.
Lyra perked up instantly as they began talking and watched intently. What she saw in that show was mind boggling, but you found it funny as well. By the time all the episodes were over the storm had long since passed. Lyra on the other hand had gone from your shirt pocket to your lap on her back watching the show upside down. You smiled as you got a fiendish idea. As she was watching the credits you began to scratch her belly and she squealed in a surprised panic. You have long know that her belly was really ticklish and had exploited it on many occasions to get her to cheer up or laugh. After many minutes of laughter from her and you adding your own fits of giggling and chuckles you finally are ready to go to bed.
After showering, brushing your teeth, and slipping in to a nice pair of pajamas you were finally ready for bed. With a yawn you found Lyra fluffing a small pillow she used as a bed. Using her magic to grab a glove she used as a sleeping bag of sorts. You thought it was adorable how she looked as she tucked her body into the glove and rested with a small sigh. You also slipped into your bed and rested your head on the nice soft pillow.
"Good night Lyra. See ya in the morning." You said with a yawn. You received a small snore in response and you smiled at the adorableness.
Right before you fell asleep you had one last thought. 'Gotta enjoy the little things in life.'. With that you let the wonders of sleep overcome you.
