Chapter 1
Luna's wondrous night has fallen upon the residents of Ponyville. Peaceful dreams of sugar cubes, and rainbows danced in the minds of the sleeping ponies. In one tree house in particular though was not having a restful night's sleep. Twilight Sparkle laid in her bed tossing and turning. Spike was in his bed curled up in a ball, while his unicorn friend was having a terrible nightmare.
The sun was shinning down upon her and her five pony friends. They were having a relaxing time by the pond, eating pie. Laughter echoed in the dream atmosphere. Grey storm clouds went unnoticed until they covered Celestia's magnificent sun. Twilight glanced to her friend Rainbow Dash, pointed at the clouds, and said something inaudible. Rainbow gave her a salute and flew off towards the sky. A purple aura surrounded a cupcake when a sudden cold wind chilled the air. Gazing up not only did she see the sun gone, but Rainbow Dash as well.
Twilight began to worry as she attempted to ask her friends what was happening. No sound came from her mouth. Further more it seemed that her friends were completely oblivious to the dire situation. While she panicked, they played, ate, and laughed. Looking closer she discovered that the sun covered sky was over her, not them. Twilight grew sad seeing that her friends were better off without her. It was then she noticed Rainbow had too abandoned her. Rain began to fall down upon the purple unicorn. Grief struck Twilight as a purple light encased her, and she vanished.
The dream setting changed in a swirl of color, and light. Appearing in Celestia's throne room, Twilight trotted urgently to the princess. Bowing Twilight went on a silent report. Celestia gazed upon the unicorn, rolled her eyes, and to Twilight utter shock laughed. It was at that point the mare had lost all hope. Hearing the princess' cold cruel laugh, caused Twilight to blink back tears. The Canterlot throne room faded, the only thing was a light surrounding the now crying unicorn.
Twilight sat up from he horrible dream, to realize that was it was. She sighed as the sun rose over the purple horizon. Planting all four legs on the wood floor, she yawned. "I have slept all night, but I felt awful after that dream," she whispered to herself.
Spike stretched in his basket. Rubbing his dragon eyes, his cheeks puffed up, the baby dragon burped, green flames came forth, and formed a scroll. "Princess, sure is up early," he grumble, and laid back down.
Twilight chuckled. Opening the letter Twilight read:
Dear Twilight
My most faithful student I would love for you to visit Canterlot this weekend for I have a new spell for you to try. I'm sure you will love it.
From your beloved teacher
Celestia, Princess of Equestria
Scanning the letter once more the element of magic pondered something. . . . Shaking the thought from her head she levitated a quill, and paper.
My dearest, Princess Celestia
It will be an honor to learn a new spell. I know you have many things left to teach me, so I look forward to seeing you this weekend.
Your student,
Twilight Sparkle
With her letter complete she tapped Spike's head to wake him. "Spike, I need you to send a letter to the princess," Twilight whispered. The dragon sat up, and blow fire on the scroll. As Twilight watched the green flame fly out the window a blood curdling scream echoed through the library. Without a second thought the purple mare levitated Spike on her back, and raced out the door
Chapter 2
Rarity hummed away as she made a dress for her shop. Wrapping a scarf around one of her many mannequin's it fell off of his pole. Perplexed the ivory unicorn examined the pole to see that the wood that held the mannequin to the stand. The pole had jagged peaks, and dips. Almost as if something had been chewing on the wood. "Must have been rotted out," she told herself. "I'll ask AJ to fix me a new one."
Trotting back to her desk a blue aura overtook her pencil. Drawing a new sketch her pencil snapped in half, in the same fashion. Puzzled further more Rarity went to her trunk to emerged with a Sherlock Holmes style hat, cape, and magnifying glass. Scanning her table, she came face to face with one of her worst nightmares. Fear filled her midnight blue eyes, as she left out a scream that could wake the dead. Dropping the magnifying glass, she swayed back and forth; and fainted on the spot. The door was kicked opened as a looming shadow casted above Rarity.
Twilight galloped down the road, to see a crowd in front of Carousel Bouquet. In the crowd she spotted Apple Jack's cowboy hat. In a flash of purple light Twilight appeared beside the orange earth pony. "Garsh, Twi you scared me," the mare replied, in her southern twang.
"What happened?" Twilight asked heavily.
"Honestly, sugar cube, no one knows. Co-Jack was walking by when this screamed curdle his milk.
The purple unicorn glanced over to see a yellow, and white colt with a piece of cheese cutie mark. He had his head in a bucket. "Hey, ya'll it taste like cheese!" he exclaimed, with bits of wave in his mane.
Twilight rolled her eyes, as the doors were encased in a blue aura. "She must becoming out," she sighed.
AJ chuckled, "Must have been a bug."
Then to their surprise the pony that trotted out was not Rarity. The ivory fashionista was on the back of the strange midnight blue mare. The two Elements of Harmony gazed in awe as the new mare walked their way. Letting Rarity off her back Twilight gazed upon the smirking mare with suspicion. She had dark night sky locks, mixed with golden yellow, and grey streaks. A horn stuck out in middle letting the always cautious mare know that this unicorn was older then her. Dark red eyes gave her a menacing gleam that matched that ever sinister smile. Against her midnight blue coat laid a cutie mark that intrigued Twilight. It was of a grey crescent moon, and a six pointed gold star. Lastly her tail matched her hair.
Apple Jack rubbed Rarity's head with her hoof. Rarity jumped up, and onto the strange mare's back. "Rare, what's got you ya'll so jumpier than a flea on a cactus?" AJ asked.
"A FLEA!" Rarity screamed, and jumped onto Twilight's back. Knocking Spike off onto the ground.
Spike yawned, "Girls, they're full of surprise's."
"It was horrible, just horrible. Tiny little legs of terror, with fangs of death, that chew, and chew, and chew everything in sight." Rarity played the theatrics, by laying her hand over her forehead, and fell over on anything.
Twilight trotted over to the unicorn. "Thank you for saving my friend," she glanced over at Rarity. "Even if was just a silly bug."
"It was no trouble at all," the mare replied. "But is she always such a drama queen?"
Twilight laughed," Yes. I did not catch your name."
"North Star," the mare said holding a hoof out.
Taking the hoof in her own, they shook hoofs, "I'm Twilight Sparkle."
"Pleasure."
“I’ve never seen you here before,” Twilight admitted.
“I’m what you call a drifter,” North Star explained.
“Oh, thank you Apple Jack,” Rarity expressed with gratitude. Now beside Twilight the Element of Generosity caught sight of her savior. “Thank you ever so much for being my knight in. . .,” she glanced at the older mare, “Blue armor.”
“Again it was no trouble at all,” North replied.
Rarity’s mouth fell opened, and bowed, “Oh, but it is, for you have a Canterlot undertone in you voice.” Rarity with her obsession for anything to do with the Canterlot hugged the mare suddenly.
Blush coated North Star’s cheeks. “I use to live there, but now I wonder around in searching for my true purpose.”
“Um, Rarity, we have a slight problem,” AJ said.
“And would be?”
“You not only have on flea, but a whole mess of’em. You’ll need to find a place a stay for a while, until Big Mac can get’em cleared,” AJ explained.
The red stallion beside Apple Jack answered his typical one word reply, “Yep.”
Rarity looked like she was going to faint. Her blue eyes were massive like sapphire’s, and her breathing had become ragged. “Where on earth am I going to stay?”
All eyes in the group fell upon the purple unicorn who was looking for the blue mare. Meeting Rarity’s sad gaze, Twilight swallowed. “I guess you can stay for a while, but I have a meeting with the princess this weekend.”
Patting her friends head Rarity assured, “That is okay, darling with Opal at Fluttershy’s, I’ll just go there while your with the princess.”
“Thank you,” Twilight nodded.
“No, thank you,” Rarity sniffed. “Now, I must go pack, since bugs do not eat clothes.”
As she watched her friend walk back to her store Twilight called to Rarity, “Just what you need.”
Rarity twitched, turning back she smiled, “No problem.”
Spike went over “I can’t wait for Rarity to come sleep over tonight!”
Twilight rolled her eyes at the dragons obsession with the glamorous unicorn. “Keep dreaming Casanova,” she chuckled. Then a ping of pain twinge her mind as she remember that awful dream she encountered last night. Shaking her head, the purple unicorn trotted to her tree house to await for her friend to stay.
