Finally A Day Off
(ENDING): Gambling with Life
Previous ChapterNext ChapterTrebass decided he would go to where Royal Flush's cutie mark was labeled on the map. He figured that she, of all ponies, would be in the most danger since she was assumed to be tied to the front of the train.
He exited the train cab and began to climb the ladder on his right. He peeked over the ladder and saw a dark blue pegasus standing on the train car in front of him. Shock Bolt's back was turned, fortunately.
"Can't go that way. I'll head through this cab and try getting to her along the side of the train." Trebass thought to himself.
He slowly trotted through the empty cab, directly under Shock Bolt. He emerged from the cab and started to shuffle along the left side of the train car in front of him. He looked back at the previous cab, and saw the silhouette of a pegasus moving away from him.
He turned to the front of the train, and started to shuffle along the side again. Trebass fought the blowing wind again him, but he eventually reached the very front of the driver's cab. The unicorn climbed into the small fenced off area, on front of the driver's cab.
"Hey! Help me!" A feminine voice called out.
Trebass looked around, and over the metal fence. He saw a light tan mare tied onto the plower of the train with rope.
"Royal!" He shouted.
"Trebass?!" She shouted back.
The unicorn began to untie the ropes on the fence. After he released each of the ropes, he assisted the mare into the fenced area with him.
She threw her arms over the unicorn, "Trebass! What's happening?! Why did Shock--"
"I'll explain later. Right now, we have to get off this thing!" Trebass interrupted her.
She nodded, and they both began to climb onto the roof of the driver's cab. Trebass thought he saw something moving through the front window of the driver's. But he could only focus on getting Royal Flush off the train, so he ignored it.
Finally, they reached the top of the driver's cab. Shock Bolt was nowhere to be found, which gave Trebass a feeling of relief. He turned around, the train was getting closer to the bomb.
"We have to jump!" Trebass shouted.
"No way! We're way too high!" The mare shouted, as she looked over the edge of the train.
The blue ocean below them was as clear as glass, and yet neither of them could see the bottom.
"Well then hold your breath and shut your eyes!" The unicorn shouted, before prodding her over the train.
She shouted vulgar words in a vulgar manner at him, but he paid no attention to the screams of the mare. Instead, he jumped in after her shouting "Yahoo!" on the way down.
Royal flush disappeared entered the water with a splash, and Trebass followed after. Water suddenly engulfed him, and he could see the distressed mare struggling for the surface. He swam towards her, kicking his back legs viciously. When he was close enough, he grabbed her by the arm and swam from the surface. They emerged from the water, and each gasped for air. Coughing and partially choking, they both began to swim for the shore, which was only a couple minutes worth of swimming away.
The two ponies crawled onto the sandy beach shore. They both turned around to face the train.
"I'm sorry." The unicorn whispered to himself.
Royal shrieked, as the train ran over the bomb, and the detonation derailed it into the ocean. Bits and pieces of debris landed in the water and created large waves, which became ripples by the time they reached the shore.
"A-At least there weren't any other ponies on the train... Right Trebass?" The earth pony asked.
Trebass replied, "Right. No other ponies."
