Finally A Day Off
Chapter 9: The Bail
Previous ChapterNext ChapterTrebass juggled a tiny rock in the air with one hoof, as he rested the back of his head on the other one. He lay in a dirty prison bed, listening to the other prisoners bang tin cups on the jail door bars. He had been knocked out earlier, it was blurry, but he could vaguely remember what happened. His cab driver had been shot in front of the hotel he was staying at. He was the suspect, and was then detained and put in a flea-ridden prison.
"So much for a nice relaxing summer break. I'm stuck in a smelly jail cell, when I should be serenaded by the Canterlot Orchestra..." Trebass moped.
The sounds of potential criminals and thieves yelling and screaming through the prison hallways.
He felt something moist on the bedsheet he was laying on, he turned on his side to see what it was, "Oh that's just f--"
Trebass was interrupted by a loud booming voice from outside his cell, "Oi! Psychopath! You gots a visitor."
Trebass hopped off his bed, puzzled, "A visitor? For me? This just keeps getting stranger and stranger." He thought to himself.
An extremely buff prison guard unlocked the prison door, and then placed handcuffs on Trebass' fore and back legs, "Move prisoner, we ain't got all day." He said with a dull, dumb voice.
Trebass complied, and began to trot through the narrow gray halls of the prison. A large number of hooves tried to grab him, but were soon swatted away by a nearby guard's nightstick.
"Whoever this visitor is, I'm glad he's here. Maybe I can convince him to bail me out of here... What am I thinking? What stranger would pity me enough to pay bail for me?" The chained up unicorn thought to himself.
"In 'ere. Hurry up!" The guard shouted.
Trebass slowly trotted into what looked like an office. The room was grey and bland. A single office table sat in the middle of the room. A stallion in a General's uniform sat on one side of the table. On the other side, a black pegasus.
The pony in the uniform began to speak, "Ah, if it isn't the psychopa--"
But the black pegasus interrupted him, "I believe we've already settled this matter General. This pony is innocent any murder incidents here in Canterlot, as there has only been two (2). And one of those two (2) incidents has been closed. Permanently."
The General replied, "Ah, my apologies chief. In any case, Mr. Trebass... You are quite the lucky colt. You see, the chief over here pulled a couple of strings. And due to an additional piece of evidence, you're hereby granted your leave from this prison."
"Uh... Granted my... Leave?" Trebass said, raising an eyebrow.
The black pegasus stood up, then removed the sunglasses from his face, "In other words, Trebass, you're free to go. Heh, kinda like Daring Do in the Griffon's Goblet eh?" He then chuckled.
Trebass eyes widened in surprise, "Y-You're the pony from the train right? But why would you bail me out?"
"Well, I guess I wanted to pay you back for this." The black pegasus tossed a book titled "Daring Do and the Griffon's Goblet"
"Sorry, but I can't seem remember your name." Trebass said, embarrassingly.
"Alexander. Alex for short. And I hear you've got a ticket to my concert." The pegasus introduced himself.
Trebass stuttered, "C-Concert? So you're THE Alex?!"
"The one and only." Alex replied, with a smug look on his face.
The uniform pony cleared his throat, and then spoke up, "Well, we apologize for any inconvenience we may have cause you."
Trebass gritted his teeth with fury, but held back on releasing it on the officer pony, "It's... Fine. Really."
"To make it up to you, I've arranged for a limousine to pick you up. I have other business to attend to before the concert. Well, I'll see you from the stage." Alex said, as he placed his sunglasses on his face, then exited the room fashionably.
The guard behind him removed the chains from Trebass' legs. The unicorn stretched his limbs, and proceeded to the exit.
Before he left, the prison warden spoke up again, "Oh and Trebass? I suggest you forget everything the victim told you. For your sake."
Trebass stopped, looked over his shoulder, then continued through the exit.
