"Angel?" Fluttershy says softly to her rabbit, still asleep in his warm bed. "Come on angel... it's time to start the day." Fluttershy is used to the little rascal being difficult in the morning, so then goes to more "desperate measures." She un-tucks his blanket and pulls him out of his bed. This, on any other morning, would get him up and send him into a frenzied, yet so adorable, rage of bunny language cursing and panicking, but he did not move. He lays there on the floor, not moving, not panicking, not fussing, not breathing, and not sleeping. "A..A..Ang..g..el?" Fluttershy whimpers to herself. The reality of the situation hits her hard. Her beloved Angel is gone....
Pegasus Sematary
"Please Angel... Wake up...” Fluttershy deludes herself into believing that her best friend is but sleeping heavily. "DAMN IT ANGEL!!! WAKE UP YOU!! QUIT PLAYING GAMES!" Fluttershy nearly tears her delicate vocal cords screaming for her bunny to be kidding and jump up and for this to all be just a dream. Tears stream down her face in rivers, coating the dead bunny's fur, the floor, and her yellow coat. She bolts out the door and goes to the back of her humble cottage and begins to dig a bunny-sized hole, amidst the greenery of her immense garden almost making it a mud pit of shale and eroded soil, due to the immense amount of crying that she seems to be doing. She dredges back into the house as a broken pegasus. She has stopped crying now and is walking straight into the house from the back door into her kitchen, then into her living room. All colored similarly to her coat, in all Hughes of yellows and tans. She walks silently, sniffling every few seconds at an extremely sluggish pace, ignoring the mud on her otherwise immaculate floor. She gently lifts the rigor-infested rabbit up in his blanket and carries him, with the same emotionless wreckage of a spirit she had upon entering the small forest cottage, over to the small, muddy, shoddily fabricated hole in her back yard. She gently lays him in the hole, and covers him and pats the dirt down over him. She sits down and releases the somewhat apathetic attitude she had over the time previously and cries over his quickly made, unmarked grave.
It isn't long before her absence goes noticed and her five best friends come looking for her. Naturally, when she isn't in her house, they go to the garden she has in the back. When she isn't in the house, she is usually either caring for woodland creatures, or she is in her garden toiling away at the fruits of her labor. She has crops varying from tomatoes, squash, spinach, among other greens, to watermelons, strawberries, and even an avocado plant. The group moves around to the back of the cottage, expecting to find a humming Fluttershy happily pouring her very soul into the crops she so lovingly gives away to her animal friends, but instead, they find a sniveling heap of a pony. A shadow of her happy, former self. They see her and rush over quickly and there, she sits, still crying, over the unmarked grave of her dead friend. Death is always hard for Fluttershy, but she does know what it is from her older pets when she was just a filly. Anyone who spends as much time with animals as Fluttershy does must understand how things die. Things cannot live forever. Her friends rush to her side for the purpose of consoling their crying friend. Fluttershy has always cried over one thing or another, so it was not surprising to find her sobbing. They expected to find her over a dying plant or a bug she had stepped on while working, but as the five surround her they see the plot of freshly dug soil and realize the severity of the situation. "I'm... I'm so sorry Fluttershy..." twilight says in a state of almost disbelief.
"It's angel isn't it?" Rarity asks. And for the first time in equestrian history, Pinkie Pie has absolutely nothing to say.
Fluttershy continues to cry, ignoring them. The five, now crying themselves, wrap hug Fluttershy in a group hug. Trying to console her friend, Rainbow Dash gently brushes her pink mane out of her face and behind her ear. Fluttershy's sadness turns to an instant rage and she throws all of them off into the dirt in a kind of aimless madness, coming from the irritability of losing someone close. "DON'T TOUCH ME!!" she screams as she flies into the Everfree forest at frighteningly fast speeds, in comparison to her average speed, that is.
"THAT BITCH!!" Rainbow Dash rears up and begins to fly after her, but is stopped short by the other four. Rainbow fights hard and tries to break away to attack Fluttershy because she saw her as ungrateful for the comfort they so willingly gave. She did not understand Fluttershy's rage, for she had never lost someone that close to her. She had not lived with someone and saw their face every day, then had that taken away. In the words of Lemony Snicket; "If you've lost someone you loved, you know how she feels. If you have not, you could never imagine the pain."
"Just cool your jets RD. she needs some time alone..." Apple Jack says teeth clinched on Rainbow's tail. "Just let her be." Applejack watches silently as Fluttershy disappears into the thick foliage of the forest and thinks a bit of a prayer for her. "I'm so sorry for you, sugarcube. But, I beg you, don't do anything rash."
Fluttershy flies, blinded by tears in a jet-stream path through the forest, in no real direction, just flying as hard as she can for the sake of flying as hard as she can. She flies crying through the forest cursing that her bunny had ever been born, or at the very least, she had ever known him. She continues in this directionless rage of flight until she is stopped short by something hard and solid. She hits her head with tremendous force and falls to the forest floor, her face brushing bramble and leaves, dazed, angry and blinded by tears. The miserable world she had now encountered slowly but surely fades to black and she falls unconscious.
She awakens with a shock and nearly leaps out of her skin. "Quite the nasty bump you got there. Good it was though, you crashed here." The familiar voice rings through Fluttershy's throbbing head in a kind of muffled rambling. "Tell me child, was it fun? Flying so fast and blind, or was there something--you wanted to hide?" Zecora trots out in front of Fluttershy with a puzzled smile on her striped face, as if Fluttershy was doing no more than paying her a surprise visit. "Do not worry, I've wrapped your head, and had you lay here on this bed."
Zecora notices the tears welling up again and asks "Say child, why did you fly into my home? And why, in Everfree do you roam? She looks curiously at Fluttershy, and then sees the look in her eyes. "One of your friends is gone, no? This is what causes your sorrow?" Fluttershy nods and begins wailing again. Zecora, in a panic to stop the waterworks coming from the yellow pony's eyes yells "you know, death does not have to be eternal, you can bring it back by means infernal." She catches what she said a second too late. Her eyes grow huge, and her mouth drops in astonishment at what she had just said. Fluttershy whips her head to Zecora, gawking at herself and Fluttershy alike.
"You know a way to bring my sweet Angel back to me?" she says half-hopeful-half-crazy. "If you know a way to bring him back, you better tell me or I’ll...I’ll... oh, I don't know what I'll do!" Zecora then mutters, mortified at herself, but knowing the pegasus would not leave without a clear and thorough answer. "The answers you speak of are not to be said, but there is a way to bring back the dead."
Zecora, ashamed of herself, but afraid for her life then says quieter still. "The way for which you look are concealed in that big, black book."
The terrified zebra covers her eyes with her hooves as Fluttershy walks past her in a determined straight path to the shelf and retrieves the book from the shelf. The cover reads in half scratched out gilded letters; "The Petgasus Sematary". Fluttershy takes the book and rushes out of Zecora's house. "What horror have I done? The worst, I fear is yet to come." Zecora says as she watches the pegasus fly through the paths away from her house, into treetops and vanishing into the thick foliage, which surrounds her home.
"Chapter one. Making hallowed ground." Fluttershy reads aloud over the grave of Angel, now abandoned of friends or anyone to console her or stop her from unfurling the evil that is to be released. The night sky makes the book difficult to read, but she manages to read the chapter and says to herself in a kind of fearful, yet fully assuring way. "Alright. The flesh of a chicken, the blood of a pony and the bone of the beloved, only borrowed. Got it." Getting the preparations ready, she heads over to her chicken coop across the yard in the pet area. She enters the back of the coop and the chickens scatter. She tries to reason with them and tells them that she only needs one of them. If they do somehow understand the yellow pony, no chicken wanted to be that one. Tired and frustrated, she reaches in and catches one of her chickens by the wing. It flails for a moment, as it has never been man-handled in this way before. It squirms in Fluttershy's hooves, flapping its wings and trying to break her hold. The squirming stops suddenly by a swift jerk and a loud crack. "Flesh... of... a... chicken..." Fluttershy repeats, holding back tears and vomit due to taking a life consciously and meditated for the first time. “Angel... you'll be mine in no time at all."
Returning to the site of the unholy place to-be with the murdered chicken in hoof, then setting it down next to the soft plot of dirt, she repeats "b...bone of the beloved, only borrowed. She digs through the soft patch of soil containing the rabbit, revealing a wrapped blue cloth wrapped around Angel's late corpse. She unfolds the blanket. "I'm sooooo sorry baby; you'll be back in mommy's arms in no time." She takes hold of the rabbit's back leg and pulls hard. With a sickening popping sound, the leg straightens and pops out of the socket. "Oh my...." she says quickly, holding back vomit. She pulls again and the leg begins to tear. It bleeds slightly, as flesh and skin give yield to pressure. Then thrice she pulls, and the leg tears away from the body. Blood splatters her, the ground surrounding and the dead rabbit. Holding back vomit again, she removes the bone from the leg, tearing the cartilage and tendons holding it firmly to its fleshy, bleeding surroundings. The pulling turns the leg muscle inside-out, to reveal raw muscle tissue, cartilage and dead skin to the outside air. She can no longer hold it, and drops the leg and vomits violently, the bile burns her mouth, and the smell of the chunks on her coat is tremendously fetid. She drops to the ground disoriented, but rises to finish the ritual. She reaches down and retrieves the bone from the dirt and replaces the boneless flesh back to the rabbit, wrapping it back in its blanket and putting it back in the hole, then covering it back up.
With the chicken in one hand, and the bone in the other, there is only one thing left to collect. "bl...Blood of a p...pony." She quietly says as she sets the bone and the chicken down and walks into her home and walks through the back door to the kitchen, where she opens a drawer and shuffles through it and finally pulls out a long, wickedly sharp, kitchen knife. She exits the house and again, walks out into the garden and sheds a tear of fear, at the act she is about to commit. She cranes her neck, raising the vorpal knife high into the air, sheening in the moonlight. Fluttershy violently throws her head downward and swiftly drags the blade of the knife across her foreleg, just above the hoof and blood immediately spills onto the ground and the pile of morbid objects in the middle of the garden path.
She holds her front leg with her other hoof to try to keep the blood from excessively spilling. She quickly flies into her house and panics about, holding her wrist. She finds a bandage and begins to wrap her bleeding wound. She quickly realizes that the cut is all too deep to simply cover with a bandage. The gauze and tape is soaked with the dark red fluid in no time at all. She knows what she must do. She begins to heat the end of her knife on the flame at the end of one of her lanterns. The tip is red hot when she retrieves it from the lantern. Fluttershy looks away and presses the tip of the knife to her wound. She lets out a quiet scream of pain and disgust at the burning sensation and the overwhelming smell of burnt hair and skin. The knife does its job and the gushing volcano of blood subsides. The knife seems to have stuck to her tender flesh as it burned the deep cut closed. She rips the knife away from her arm and tears of agony well up and begin to stream down her emotionally and physically agonized face. She wraps the burn with a clean, new bandage and continues with the ceremony. "All the preparations are done." Fluttershy blankly says. "Now to spread the chicken" she splits the chicken into fifths and places each piece at an equal distance away from each other, as instructed by the book. She then plunges the rabbit bone in the middle of her plot.
She quietly, but confidently mutters “um... No mortis rit sacropulsus criucificius!" The sky immediately darkens and it begins to rain. Lightning strikes the ground within the chicken flesh circle and the deep red blood seeps into the ground and bubbles up to connects the bits of flesh laid out ever so carefully. The dark bubbling blood continues to bubble up, forming a pentagram inside the circle. The dark red lines catch on fire, despite the rain. The bone sinks into the ground and disappears. All the precious plants in her garden become devoid of life as if the life force had been sucked out of them to feed the dark ritual. Her fruits and vegetables rot from the inside out, turning to piles of rotten goo. The vines and assorted stems wither and turn brown, fall to the ground and die as well. Fluttershy's face turns mortified. She hides her face under her hooves and lets out her trademark whimper. The flames die as quickly as they started and extinguish. The lines however stay. "Now we wait..." she cries to herself.
Later on into the night, she falls into a heavy sleep on her bed and eagerly awaits the morning. Little did she know, the night would hold terrors for her. Wicked dreams of death and pony sacrifice. She dreamed her friends were trapped within the flaming pentagram each within an arm of the star, separated by fire. They fall slowly into piles of gory mush, as if melting. The images rob her of precious sleep as she tosses and turns trying to rid herself of the horrid visage in her mind. Finally, the sun blesses her room and frees her from the confounds of her own psyche. She gets up and slowly, quietly walks down the stairs. She looks at the rabbit's bed and sees a muddy Angel laying there where he should be. Asleep and peaceful.
"Oh Angel! I knew it would work. I just knew it!" she flies quickly over to the rabbit and wraps him in a hug. He bites her neck, almost drawing blood. "ANGEL?!" Fluttershy screams. "Why would you bite me like that?" Angel's face is coated in mud and blood. Then it hits her. His leg. She looks at his leg and almost gags. It is slightly open, like a healing cut. She asks casually like nothing happened "what do you want for breakfast?" he pulls a flip board out of nowhere like he used to do in his first life. On it is a picture of a cow. "So you want milk?" Fluttershy asks somewhat disgusted at what they'd both become. He shakes his head and takes a bite out of the picture. "You mean you want to... Eat... The cow? She asks in disbelief. He nods with a sort of sadistic grin on his face. "NO! I won't kill again!" Fluttershy swore. Angel crosses his arms and looks at her in an angry, cruel kind of way, tapping his foot impatiently. "But... I... Well... Anything for my Angel."
Minutes later, she returns with a whole cow. Its head smashed in. Angel looks somewhat pleased, then digs in and begins tearing at its flesh with its sharp teeth, ripping flesh from bone and then breaking the bones and sucking the marrow from the center. All raw and bloody as can be. Fluttershy is horrified at the sight, but more so glad to have this Angel-looking creature back in the world of the living. Suddenly a voice disrupts the sound of angel's ripping and loud chewing.
"Hey! Fluttershy! You home?" asks the cyan pegasus outside her door. She knocks three times. Fluttershy can't let Rainbow dash in and let her see all she'd done. Rainbow dash flies around to the back and Fluttershy follows her from the inside of her house and peers out her back window at her. She lands in the red pentagram and open hole in the ground. "What the hay is all this?" she yells, terrified. Fluttershy then yells from her window.
"Rainbow Dash. Thank goodness you're here. There is something terribly wrong here. Could you come up here?"
"Fluttershy! I'm coming!" Rainbow Dash tears through Fluttershy's curtains into her room and is in her "I’m gonna kick some ass" mood.
"Where it is? Let me at it!" from behind the curtain, jumps Fluttershy with a knife in her hoof. Rainbow sees her out of the corner of her eye and dodges her lunge enough for it to not be lethal. It does, however cut her wing deeply. "Fluttershy? What the hay?" Fluttershy, crazed and determined pins her. Rainbow squirms and tries to free herself from Fluttershy's grip. Somehow, Fluttershy had reserves of hidden strength nopony knew about, and ample strength to hold the injured pony to the floor. Fluttershy grabs Rainbow by the warm colored front of her mane and slams the back of her head on the ground hard. Again and again and again. Until Rainbow dash stops moving and bits of her skull and grey matter are splattered on the otherwise spotless wood floors of Fluttershy's room. Fluttershy throws the body out her front window making sure to let it drag on the wall on its way down.
She then cleans her floor and hides the cow and Angel in her secret basement and whispers to herself "I know I swore I wouldn't kill again but you would've told on me and I would've been killed... or worse... banished to the moon... or the sun!" She comes up with a clever plan to make it all look like an accident. She first pricks herself in the eyes with the top of her hoof to make herself look as if she'd been crying all morning, puts on a scarf to cover the bite and a fresh bandage to hide the cut, and bolts out of her home, crying loudly, toward Twilight's library.
She runs into town as fast as she can to Twilight's library. She bolts through the door crying. Twilight drops the feather duster she was holding and runs to Fluttershy to console her.
"I'm so sorry Fluttershy. It is terrible to lose someone you love." Twilight says comfortingly
Fluttershy convincingly screams "It's not Angel... It's Rainbow Dash... She...She was flying around trying to cheer me up and one of her tricks went wrong and she flew into my house and... And... I think she's...Dead!" Twilight's eyes water up quickly and she takes off running with Fluttershy to her house. They arrive and Rainbow's body lies there swarming with insects and crawling with beetles and other assorted creepy crawlies. Twilight can hardly believe her eyes as her friend lies there dead. Fluttershy and Twilight huddle together and cry for their lost friend.
The funeral is held in the days following. It is an open-air funeral held just outside of ponyville. The rain hadn't stopped since the ceremony, despite the efforts of all the pegasi on the weather stability team. All ponies of Ponyville, Cloudsdale, and Canterlot attend. The wonderbolts do an aerial spectacular, through the tears in their eyes. While the ponies on the ground congregate around the grave site. Ponies say their goodbyes; one by one, walking up to the pedestal in front of the grave and saying a few words about their experiences with the late Rainbow Dash. Nopony actually sees her face because the funeral is, of course, closed casket, due to the nature of her death. The ground is soaked from the rain. Some ponies brought umbrellas, while others decided to embrace the rain.
Nearing the end of the burial, Twilight croaks out. "Fluttershy? You were the last pony to see her alive. Don't you have any last words?"
Fluttershy is taken off guard by the comment and meekly responds "No. Not really." the crowd gets dead quiet.
"It's your fault she dead! The least you can do is say a few words you pathetic pile of crap!" ,Yells a high pitched voice from the left of the crowd. Suddenly pinkie bursts through the wall of ponies and is practically snout to snout with Fluttershy in seconds. "She died trying to cheer your sorry ass up! Show a little bit of respect, bitch!" The crowd is taken aghast by Pinkie being in this out of the ordinary mood. Pinkie grabs Fluttershy by the neck violently with her left hoof, her wet, drooping mane cascading down across her shoulder and into her face down onto Fluttershy. She lifts her right hoof, lifts it high in the air, and plows it into the muzzle of Fluttershy. Fluttershy falls to the ground and begins bleeding from her nose. Pinkie mounts her and grabs her again. She raises her hoof to strike her again, with tears in her eyes at the loss of her idol. It hurt pinkie more to hit Fluttershy than it hurt Fluttershy to get hit. She cried harder than before and begins to rain hit after hit upon Fluttershy's face.
Before she makes contact, Applejack tackles her to the ground and tells what’s left of her group. "Ya'll best get her outta here before this one kills 'er!" She rolls around with her trying to restrain the psychotic pink pony.
Rarity and Twilight help Fluttershy off the ground, her nose crooked and bleeding profusely. They escort her out of the funeral grounds. "Please don't be mad." Fluttershy whispers through tears.
"Come on Fluttershy, you just didn't want to talk is all I understand." twilight says, nudging her in the side with her front elbow.
"Of course my dear, it's not like you killed her or anything." Rarity responds in a comforting tone.
"Yeah... not like I killed her..." Fluttershy repeats softly.
That night, Fluttershy stayed with twilight, for fear of her own home, or at least, what it had become. "Hey Twilight?" Fluttershy asks from the other side of Twilight's bed.
"Yes Fluttershy?" Twilight responds, fully awake and not going to sleep any time soon. Fluttershy looks around and sees Spike's asleep.
"What if we could bring her back?" Fluttershy whispers.
"I'd do it in a heartbeat... But we both know there is no unicorn magic in all of Equestria can tamper with life and death." Twilight responds almost crying.
"But what if it's not unicorn magic, and what if---"
"She can't come back Fluttershy! She will never come back! We all miss her but.... jeez. Don't make this
harder than it has to be." Twilight's voice breaks and crackles interrupting the pink haired pegasus. "Sorry, Fluttershy." Twilight says, understanding her pain.
Fluttershy begins to cry and wraps her in a warm cuddle and looks in her face and sees the same pain she feels. She moves her muzzle closer to Twilight's their lips meet for a moment, and in that moment, they both felt the utmost comfort and love from each other. It's not just their lips touching, but their very souls. They feel each other to the fullest and know the pain of the other. In that instant that their lips meet, they realize they love each other. They had always loved each other. They hold each other tight and then gradually fell asleep in each other's arms.
The nightmares have subsided in the past days, or at the least, have become less horrific. There was no dream this night. Only darkness. Pitch black, lonely darkness.
Fluttershy wakes up in the morning bright and early as usual. She gently and carefully slips her hoof out from under Twilight's neck, careful not to pull her mane, and sets her head gently down upon her pillow. The rain still poured out of the heavens, so Fluttershy grabs an umbrella and she begins to leave when a voice from behind her asks "Where are you going Fluttershy?"
"Uuum..... Just out..." She turns around to find Twilight getting out of bed and looking over the balcony at her with dreamy eyes.
"Come back to bed." Fluttershy stops dead in her tracks and goes back inside and into Twilight's bedroom. "Oh dear... Your nose... It looks terrible." She holds a mirror to Fluttershy's face. To her disgust, her nose is swollen and purplish brown in some places and blackish green in others. "Pinkie seems to have some right hoof doesn't she?" Twilight gingerly touches the side of Fluttershy's nose. She cringes for a moment at the pain, and then relaxes. Twilight gets some salves and bandages for a broken nose and begins applying it. She adds the salve to Fluttershy's nose then puts a muzzle-shaped bandage over the top of it. "There. All done. But you know what makes a broken nose better sooner?"
Twilight begins to blush and Fluttershy responds
“No...No I don't." In a timid, yet nasally voice.
"Love..." twilight responds, face now fully red, looking at the floor.
"Love?" Fluttershy responds quietly and naively, even though she knows exactly what she means, in a kind of game. "Like how?" Twilight pushes her onto the bed from Fluttershy's shoulder with her hoof and kind of pins her there.
"Like this." Twilight whispers as she moves her head closer to Fluttershy's reddening face. Their lips lock once again, this time for only the extent and purpose of loving, not just comforting. Their tongues dance about in each other's mouths and their hooves meet. Twilight's leg strattles between Fluttershy's and she begins to grind her leg on Fluttershy's crotch. Fluttershy is completely out of her comfort zone here.
She whines ad she pushes Twilight off and says "Please Twilight. I need to tell you something." She looks down and kicks the ground softly with her hoof. "Something kind of secret. Promise you won't tell."
Twilight looks puzzled and says "Sure Fluttershy, anything. Cross my heart and hope to fly, stick a cupcake in my eye." She Pinkie swears.
"Ok. You remember when I said what if we could bring her back last night?" Fluttershy looks over to twilight and says quietly.
"Yeeeeah... Of course I do... Why?" as if Twilight didn't know the answer already.
"I have one way..." Fluttershy whispers regretfully.
"But how?!" twilight says astonished.
"I made hallowed ground from a book I got from Zecora... It brought Angel back, so why wouldn't it work for Rainbow Dash?"
"Are you serious?" Twilight says
"Yeah... I did all the rites even gave some of my own blood." she tears off all the bandages from her foreleg revealing a deep, but healing, cut.
"Holy hay, Fluttershy. You are serious."
"Yes, but they come back... different... see?" Fluttershy removes the scarf and reveals a bite mark.
"Wow Fluttershy. You are really messed up aren't you? Here let me heal those." she reaches for Fluttershy's neck but the yellow pegasus smacks her hand away.
"No. It's alright." she insists.
Twilight rubs her hoof and asks "So you can really bring her back?" she looks hopeful and afraid at the same time.
"Well... I'm pretty sure." Fluttershy says quietly.
"But how do we get the body?" twilight asks in morbid curiosity.
"We are going to have to dig her up... and rebury her in the hallowed ground." Fluttershy whimpers, almost crying.
"Alright. Let's do it. We'll wait until night to dig her up, to avoid suspicion."
"Well... ok sounds like a plan to me. Tonight then."
The night falls on the Pegasus and unicorn pair as they begin to leave. The rain made the dark seem pitch black. It poured heavily and hard onto the faces of Twilight and Fluttershy, under the meager light of the weak candle lantern pagoda. They reach the cemetery without a word spoken. Twilight throws Fluttershy a shovel and nods her head at the grave where Rainbow is buried. They begin digging in the soft muddy soil. "Is this right?" Fluttershy asks "You know, digging her up and all." she says in her soft voice. Just then a lightning bolt strikes the ground close in proximity to the duo, making them both jump out of nerves.
"You do want her back, don't you?" twilight asks out of breath.
"Well of course I do." Fluttershy responds.
Suddenly, Twilight's spade strikes wood and she climbs out of the hole, and then helps Fluttershy out. Twilight’s horn lights up heavily and she lifts the coffin out of the earth. She opens it and finds a dead Rainbow Dash inside. Fluttershy takes hold of the dead pony and drags her out, crying at the sight of her. They return the coffin and then bury it under the disturbed dirt.
Twilight and Fluttershy sneak the late Rainbow Dash through the edge of the Everfree forest to Fluttershy's house. The darkness makes Fluttershy's unholy home look even more terrifying. The pair reach her home and begin the burial. They dig off the open rabbit sized hole and make into a pony sized hole. They mean to carefully set her in the hole, but Fluttershy's hand slips and she drops her head into the dirt. "Shit Fluttershy!" Twilight quietly scolds her. Fluttershy quickly picks up Rainbow Dash's head and proceeds to set her into the hole correctly. They bury her and decide to part ways. "I'm going to go back to my house so we don't raise any eyebrows, you know?" Twilight says walking off.
"Alright, goodnight Twilight. I.. I love you." Fluttershy says quietly
"Yeah... I love you too Fluttershy." Twilight says then disappears into the night.
The night drags on as Fluttershy drifts off to sleep from pure mental and physical exhaustion. Lightning strikes the garden in a flash of hot, violent energy, entering the soil. It scatters bits of earth around, breaking the topsoil above the once dead Rainbow Dash. The cyan pegasus begins to stir within her grave, slowly tearing through the softly packed soil above her. After minutes of digging she crashes through the surface, the rain and loose mud smothering her, trying to keep her from exiting the earth. The freshly living pony fights back and crawls out of the hole. She crawls on her stomach across the mud, then standing she looks around. She sees the path to the Everfree forest. She leaves Fluttershy's garden and moves into the dense bramble of the unnaturally dark forest.
She walks in a kind of lunatical way through the paths of the forest, cutting herself on thorns every once in a while and barely avoiding trees until she reaches a small cottage in a clearing. Rainbow Dash walks to the door to see it's locked. She bucks it in, unhinging the door from the frame and sending it sailing into the small home. It is dark, but a lightning crack every once in a while illuminates the house giving a kind of sensory memory to see. She looks around and sees the lack of a certain zebra and says, "Oh Zecora? Come out and play with me. Come and play Zecora!" Zecora had heard the slam and ran to hide hid behind one of the ceremonial masks of her people holding a sacrificial knife and whispering words of a different language to herself.
Zecora jumps out from behind the "welcome" mask and yells "O' Dead one, return where you came from! To evil I will not succumb!" Holding the knife out in front of her. To her surprise and horror, Rainbow is gone. She is nowhere to be found. Zecora begins stepping around the cot, watching every dark nook and cranny of it. Then Rainbow pops out from behind a pot towards Zecora in a dangerously viscous leap. Her tribal instincts kick in and she throws Rainbow over her shoulder into a pile of masks and other tribal artifacts. She then disappears again. Zecora says panting and desperate to draw Rainbow out of hiding "Oh come now O' Rainbowed one. What happened to your lust for fun?" She steps over to her bed and just then Rainbow's arm reaches out from under her bed and slits one of Zecora's Achilles’ tendons with another ceremonial knife. She falls to the floor, her leg bleeding like a fountain.
Zecora's vision begins to fade in and out of the darkness, The twisted sky blue pegasus comes out of the dark and appears in front of Zecora, who is reaching to stab Rainbow's ghoulish visage, and speaks "This has been fun Zecora, but you lost this time, so I'm going to go have fun with Twilight now... hee hee hee..." as she is walking out the door.
"You...you stay away from her you demon! Or else I'll... I'll..." Zecora breathes her last breath and ceases to live there on the floor of her house still bleeding. Despite her efforts, Rainbow still makes her way toward the Library.
Rainbow exits the forest bloodied from the thorns and inspects the area she had emerged. Fortunately for her, Fluttershy's house was only a few hundred feet from her. She knew exactly where she was, and worse, how to get to Twilight. She begins walking down the paths she had traveled many times in her first life. She hummed a little song as she went along into the rain. The song was a kind of out-of-tune version of her "been dreamin'" piece form "at the gala". She walks through the vacant streets of town, soaked from the rain, muddy, and bloody.
She makes it to the library in no time at all. She knocks on the door and says "Twilight? Hey twilight open up." in her chipper joyous tone like the one she used when they first met. Twilight Shocks awake at the sound of Rainbow's voice.
"Rainbow? Is that really you?" Twilight says, almost in tears.
"Of course it's me you egg head! heh-heh now let me in ya nerd!" she says in a chipper bantering tone. Twilight runs over and unbolts the door, revealing a zombified, wet Rainbow Dash. Her head smashed in the back, but the front looking just like old times. "Twilight... It's been a while hasn't it?"
"Yeah... It has." Twilight says softly and crying now. "It's so good to see you again." She extends her arm to wrap her in a hug. Rainbow approaches slowly and graciously accepts her hug. The warmth of the hug is such that can only come from a sincerest of love. It comforts Twilight, just having Rainbow Dash back in her arms again. Twilight begins to sob hopelessly at the revival of her old friend. Just seeing her face is a miracle that warms her very soul. Rainbow Dash is also comforted by the hug, not the love but the proximity she is to her target. She takes a firm hold of the dagger she was hiding in her wing and plunges it into Twilight's gut. Twilight gasps and puts her hooves to her stomach. Rainbow twists the knife and tears upward. It cuts through her soft flesh. She grasps her stomach, convulsing, trying to keep her internal organs stay as such, bleeding out onto the floor.
Spike wakes up at all the commotion and looks downstairs. "Twilight? What's going on in here?" he stops rubbing his eyes and sees a dead Twilight on the floor and a live Rainbow Dash over her with a knife. "Rainbow Dash? What in Equestria is going on here?" he asks crying. Rainbow looks up to him and raises the blade to her mouth and protrudes her tongue towards it. She licks the deep red blood off the flat of the side of the knife, returns her tongue to her mouth.
She whispers "delicious..." then swiftly takes flight toward the baby dragon. The infantile dragon stands no chance against the possessed speed of Rainbow Dash. She plunges the knife deep into the back of his head. He dies quickly and easily. Rainbow dash grabs Spike by the tail in a playful manner and chucks him against the door. He hits the inside of the door and blood from his head splatters the front door. "Yes! Bull's eye!" she yells triumphantly.
She picks up Twilight's phone and decides to give her old friend Fluttershy a friendly conversation. The likes of which she'll never forget. She rings up Fluttershy and snickers as it begins to ring.
The first ring correlates perfectly with a lightning bolt near Fluttershy's house, waking her up. She gasps heavily and shocks herself awake. She hears the phone ringing and walks downstairs to pick it up half-knowing who it will be. She walks downstairs and picks up her phone. "He...he...hello?" she whispers into the phone.
"He-Hey Fluttershy, ol' buddy, ol' pal, ol' friend of mine. How have you been since you know... You killed me? Well I've been very busy since I've come back. I went to Zecora's place and we had tons of fun together."
"What did you do to Zecora?!" Fluttershy screams
"Oh, but then I headed on over to Twilight's to continue the party. Oh man, we had a whole gut load of fun..."
"No. Not Twilight..." Fluttershy's resolve seems to melt away in thick layers.
"Well, I've played with twilight, I've played with Zecora, and now I'm gonna play with you... come on over to Twilight's place. You've always been welcome there haven't you? Oh! And if you are a no-show, that's fine. I'll just play with somepony else. Maybe sweet, sweet Applejack, or maybe Rarity and Sweetie Belle.... heh heh heh..." Rainbow hangs up the phone and laughs hysterically.
"NO! Rainbow DASH!! DAMMIT DON'T YOU TOUCH THEM!" The yellow pegasus realizes she is no longer on the other end of the phone and hangs up violently. "Everything from that Sematary is evil. Angel must be killed. Sorry baby." she says to herself. She flies over to the basement door and lets Angel out. It jumps at her, but she catches it by the throat and snaps its neck with one hoof. The rabbit demon stops moving and she lays it down on the floor and heads out into the rain.
In no time flat she is at Twilight's library. The sun is coming up over the horizon and the rain seems to be clearing up. She carries with her a kitchen knife. It might level the playing field with Rainbow Dash she thought. She'd need every advantage she could get to overtake this foe. The odds are against Fluttershy in this endeavor. She kicks in the door to the library and proceeds inward. She almost trips over a mutilated Spike. She gasps at the baby dragon she thought so highly of.
"Fluttershy... in the flesh, I see." The voice booms from everywhere it seems without an origin for it anywhere in sight. "So how do you like the decor? I usually leave the decorating to Pinkie, but in her absence, I had to improvise." The bodies of Twilight and Zecora hang from the ceiling on nooses around their necks; Twilight's intestines hanging out of the abdominal cavity, now mostly vacant, and dragging on the floor. "Pretty aren't they? I'm glad we got to spend time together having so much fun, but they had to leave... permanently." The crazed cyan pony laughs manically, and then falls silent.
"Rainbow... comes out. I just want to show you something" Fluttershy says, turning the knife in her hoof "I promise it is cool!" Rainbow Dash comes from around a corner.
She looks at Fluttershy and asks "What did you want to show me?" in a nonchalant but curious tone.
"Come closer. It has to be seen from up close." Fluttershy says with a hoof behind her back containing the knife.
"Oh ok. That makes sense." Rainbow says moving in. Then suddenly Fluttershy rips the knife out from behind her only to be caught by Rainbow Dash. "Like hay punk!" she yells as she kicks Fluttershy back and flies upstairs. "You're gonna have to do better than a pathetic sneak attack if you want to beat me in this game. A crazed Fluttershy flusters and runs up the stairs only to have her leg cut by Rainbow Dash waiting at the top of the staircase. She lies on her stomach, behind the corner. The cut is minor but still very painful. She loses balance and falls down the flight of stairs. Falling over herself, over and over, until she hits the bottom floor hard. Rainbow rolls around laughing at the great prank she pulled on Fluttershy. She lays on the floor motionless. Rainbow goes down the stairs to inspect the fantastic work she had done to her good friend.
"You weren't too tough, were you? hee hee." Rainbow Dash chuckles, standing over her fallen opponent. She closes her eyes and flexes it triumph. "Looks like I won this round too. I AM THE IRON PO--" Her words are cut short by a grounded Fluttershy projecting a knife into Rainbows neck. She pulls the knife out and blood follows it, spilling onto the floor and herself. "What? There's no way you won..." Rainbow says as if more concerned about losing than dying. "AAAW man!! You cheated you little Cunt!!" Rainbow Dash stumbles away from Fluttershy and up the stairs, in a drunken looking stooper and finally collapses in Twilight's room. "That's...not...fair..." She breathes her last re-dying breath and slips into darkness.
Fluttershy has to make sure what is here will never leave. She spills all twilight's lantern oil from her lanterns on the floor and retrieves the body of twilight. She walks out of the Library, turns around and throws a match into the oil. The house catches quickly due to the amount of paper books in there. She carries Twilight on her back as she heads back home. On her way, the ghost of Zecora appears "You do know she won't be the same, she'll just want to play the very same game." She says calmly.
"Shut up Zecora..." Fluttershy says as she heads to the house at the edge of the Everfree forest.
"You know not what you do." Zecora speaks out in reason.
"No, I know exactly what I'm doing." Fluttershy looks back to Zecora and says.
Later on that night, there is a knocking on Fluttershy's door. "Yeah... come in Twilight." She invites the, living again, Twilight into her kitchen. Fluttershy sits in a chair in the center watching as Twilight enters the door. Fluttershy's eyes are blackened and bagged from exhaustion and her coat dirt and bloody. Bruised all over and all existing injuries have not since changed.
"I missed you baby." Twilight says to Fluttershy as she walks over to her with a kind of zombie swagger.
Fluttershy swipes the hair out from in front of her eyes, to behind her ear. Their eyes meet as they had when Fluttershy had first lain with Twilight. She moves her mouth closer to Twilight's. Their lips lock and
