Winter nights always bugged the little filly. She loved the cold itself, that was not the issue. The issues was sleeping. Sleeping in the dead freeze was just depressing to her. It was strange but when you try your best to find a comfortable position, cuddling into mounds of sheets and blankets to extract warmth from, you soon grow to see that the effort was pointless. In the end, she was still freezing and shivering.
A faint squeak escaped her lips to betray the pain that was being caused by the sting of cold winter air. Her left good went outside if the protection of the mounds of blankets for a slight second to readjust them so that they were covering arias that were previously left exposed. She shut her eyes tight in a way that scrunched up her whole face in an uncomfortable, yet somewhat warming, way.
"If only mom could have got me some more blankets, then I would be better." She whispered into the ocean of darkness that flooded her room.
After saying this, she immediately felt a sting of guilt. It was obvious to herself that she was just trying to find something to blame for the pain she was in. The fact of the matter was that her mother didn't have the money for more blankets. Blaming her was just not fair. Of course, nothing was really fair. Who should she blame then? That thought rattled around the young filly's mind for a while. The phrase "who do ya blame?" Echoing through.
"I know!" Came a stale high pitched mumble from the little pony, "I'll blame myself. There's no one ells you can blame, Fluttershy. You just need to face the facts. You started everything. Now go to bed!"
With that last word spoken still echoing from the almost empty room, she slammed her head into a pillow and laid there completely still. Sleep was bound to come, right? It usually does. The nights of no sleep whatsoever are always just imposable to really deal with the next morning. So far, the light yellow filly has missed almost five days of school for the reason of staying up all night with no real rhyme or reason.
The night progressed like this. Laying motionlessly in the bed with a mind full of clutter. Five minutes or an hour, she couldn't tell the difference. Time never did what you wanted it to do. It was fast when you wanted it to be slow and it moved at a snails speed when you wanted things to go by quickly.
Maybe some water would help? The idea if moving from the bed sounded inviting. Just an urge to get up, she assumed.
Her head slowly rose from the pillow. Instantly, the cold air didn't skip a beat to charge sharply at her fur and penetrate to wage a stinging battle on her skin. Her front hooves clutched the comforter of the bed tightly and made sure it was wraped around her body. As her head reached erect, a weird flash sparked through her head. Like a headache that came and gone to leave the pony's brain confused as to what just happened. When the light headed was subsided, she reached her bottom hoof out of the bed to touch ground. The tile floor just stung.
The second hoof shot out recklessly from the soft surface of the bed and landed right on some sharp firey pain.
Fluttershy's eyes shut tight on impact and her tear duckta began to overflow with tears from the burning pain that entered her hoof. Like a really really thin rusty nail penetrating we flesh and tickling her bone. Within a fraction if a second, her left upper hoof shot out and smashed on the light switch with a crash!
The room imediatly illuminated bright yellow. Though there wasn't much to be illuminated. Just a bed and walls and one shelf.
The yellow peguses tilted her head down, tear drops falling to the tile floor and snorting loudly to prevent her nose from running. What met her eyes was the sight of a medical syrenge embedded into her hoof at an akward angle. The fur around it dampened with a dark liquid that appeared crimson red on the tile.
"Squee!" Came the only sound from her mouth. It was produced out of anger that she couldn't articulate in words.
Now she was fully awake. It didn't look as if she would get any sleep tonight.

Everything was planed out well. Not a thing could have been missed! Striking blue eyes trailed across the cabin. She couldn't help but to notice that a majority of the passengers were tired and sleepy, and here she was wide awake and excited as ever. Streching her hooves in the air and then laying back into the soft blue leather seat, she closed her eyes to try and emerge herself in her own private thoughts.
"Ms. Pie, for an extra fifteen bits you could have your lights turned off for better sleeping."
The pink filly opened one eye with startle to see some pony standing over her with a beeming smile. From cheek to cheek, Pinkie Pie smiled back.
"Oh no-no-no-no-no. I'm just fine, thankyou" she sang and closed her eyes once more before the train worker could say anything more.
"Well ok, than. You have a great trip and thankyou for choosing Horse Sho Railways."
"Okie dokie, Lokie. And you have a fantastic day- uh, night."
After the annoying mare had left, the pink little filly reflected on how silly it was that she keeps thinking it was daytime. The day went by so fast! An excitement filled her body and she silently giggled to herself. A plan too perfect to fail! Only one of the smartest fillies could have pulled this kind of stuff off. Just a month ago, she got her cutie mark and now this?! It was almost too good to be true. Like life had been handing her nothing but gold and silver.
The pink head tilted a little to the side. Blankets of white snow covered everything. Mounds and mountains of white fluff everywhere. Inside the train, however, was just warm and toasty air. Pinkie didnt even need a jacket.
The sign that hung over the entrance to cart 5, which was just ahead of the pink filly with fluffy hair, said in LED lights "Next stop: Philidelphia."
"Hmm" she grunted out loud. That place was nothing but a dirt mound. Growing up in the farm-side, Pinkie Pie had not really been exposed to meny intercity ponies. But she has met them before. Oh yes. And she didn't like any of them. They were all classless gang bangers and prostitutes that had no respect for anyone but themselfs. Not even themselfs. Because if they respected themselfs, they would just move, right? Why those stupid ponies choose to live in the dumps was beyond the party loving filly.
Soon the train will fill with those gross pony folk and they will probably come in and speak there fractured Equestrian. Pinkie pie, coming from the rock farm, couldn't complain about the poor grammer because her ponies where just as guilty of having there own specal breed of the Equestrian language. It still bothered her, hypocrisy ignored, the way they speak.
Just a few more miles to Philidelphia. And a few more minnets to 1am. This would be a good time for her to lay her head down and rest her eyes, she concluded.
A deep breath entered her lungs. She breathed out with a sigh. Things were smooth from here on out.
A second later, everything went pure dark. Something a faint bang echoed around. Ringing swelled up in her ears and her head pounded with a headache she didn't have a second ago. A second? How long has it been. She way suddenly freezing too. A pink head lifted itself slightly from where she was laying, flat on her tummy, and looked at what she was laying on. Snow? Yes, that was defanatly snow she was laying on. No question there.
It wasn't until after her hearing came back that Pinkie Pie relised that she was temporarily deff. First faint and then loud and pounding, came the sounds of ponies screaming there lungs out. Some helpless screams and some were angry screams and some screams for the sake of emotional venting. Blue eues widened in horor when she relised what te sounds reaching her ears were.
No sense of direction and no idea where she was, she decided to turn her head behind her out of some wierd feeling she had. Whatever is causing the screams was probably there. She just had a feeling. But when the pink filly tried to picot her head, a shocking pain filled her back and she hollered and whimpered a little herself. In a deasprite attempt to find out what had happened, she threw her whole painful and weak body to the side and tears swelled in her eyes. Why was she crying? Maybe a mixture of phisical pain and fear as to what was going on. What exactly was going on was just a frightening mystery to her. Like not knowing what will happen to you in the next few minnets. Mortality was a concept that had just hit her. And if it didnt hit her when he was laying in the snow, bloody and confused and crying, it would hit her now.
The pony, usualy the happy go-lucky filly loved by most, just stared. No emotion could be found in her face and no emotions other then shoke and fear could be found in her head. The train cart where she had been just laying in comfortably was tipped over and bing licked by flames higher then the tread in the forest. Nothing but destruction could meet the pink ponies gaze.
This was not part of her plan.
