//-------------------------------------------------------// I Won't Accept no for an Answer -by Rarityfan87- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Spike's Decision //-------------------------------------------------------// Spike's Decision WARNING! SPIKE WILL BE OUT OF CHARACTER. HENCE THE ALTERNATE UNIVERSE TAG. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. Song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aOixPrn4KUU) “Oh Spike…” “Well, what do you say Rarity?” “I’m sorry Spike, but I cannot accept. There are many things to take into account here. For one, our age difference. What would the ponies think of me dating someone younger than me? Two, we are both different species. You are a dragon, and I am a pony. Third, what would the ponies think of me when I’m dating a dragon. That is not the norm Spike. When ponies would find out, they would stop buying my products. I would lose all my respect as a fashionista. Lastly, you’re eventually going to grow too big to stay in Ponyville. Where would we go then? I can’t live with dragons, they do horrible things to ponies. And I could never leave Sweetie Belle behind. I’m sorry Spike, but I just want to continue being friends.” Spike started to cry the hardest he’s ever cried. He could not believe what his love told him. His heart sank, his breathing slowed down. Rarity, seeing what she caused tried to hug Spike and comfort him, but Spike pushed her away with more force than he would have liked. Anger started to build up inside of him. His eyes turned crimson red, smoke was coming out of his nostrils. He slowly rose from the ground, one leg then the other. He looked at Rarity, his love, gone completely. Now replaced with unsatisfying rage, he spoke, hatred in his voice, scaring Rarity. “How could you think of me like that!? It seems when I’m your friend you’re fine with those possible problems. How would you like if told the ponies that I am the one that helped you make their dresses and suits? How would you feel then? HUH?” Rarity started backing away from Spike until she baked herself into a corner. She couldn’t believe how Spike was acting, she only wished it would stop. She couldn’t stand seeing Spike this angry. She feared for her life. She wanted to run away. But she didn’t. She was too afraid Spike might hurt her. She continued to listen to him shaking in fear in the corner. “I could ruin you right now. But I won’t because it would only make me as terrible as you! And the age difference! You know dragons mature at a different rate than ponies. I may seem like a teenager in dragon years, but in pony years I'm not far from your age. If other ponies found out! Who cares about them? All of our friends would accept us. And eventually when the ponies find out that Princess Celestia approves, they will slowly start to accept us as well. By the time I am too big to live in Ponyville you’ll be dead. I grow much slower than ponies. So you’d never have to worry about that! Leave Sweetie Belle behind?! I would never even ask you to do that. I know how important Sweetie Belle is to you. And I could not leave her behind either, I have fun playing with her and the rest of the Cutie Mark Crusaders!” Spike started walking towards Rarity. There was no escape now. Rarity readied herself for the worst. Spike was now standing right in front of her. “Have you ever noticed how every other stallion you’ve dated never cared as much about you as I have!? They only wanted access to your marehood.” Spike looked at Rarity dead in her eyes. Tears of disappointment started forming around his eyes. “I hope you find someone in your life who loves you as much as I do, because you just lost my love!” With that Spike ran outside. He slammed the door as he left. Rarity stayed in the corner, unable to move. She was paralyzed in fear. (end song here) How could Spike get that angry? I never thought he would take it that bad. In his defense, I did go overboard with my rejection. But still, he over reacted... He is right though, I have been dating stallions even though I knew in the end they only wanted access to my marehood. Oh god. How could I do this to Spike… He has every right to hate me right now. I need to time to think about all of this. Spike was running towards the library. His rage calmed down, instead he was crying. Spike arrived at the library. He slammed the door open and ran upstairs to the bedroom. He layed in his bed. Twilight ran upstairs after Spike. She opened the door to the see her ‘son’ crying on his bed. “What’s wrong Spike?” “Rarity rejected me!” Spike said with trouble. “I’m so sorry Spike.” Twilight hugged Spike as tight as she could. Spike told Twilight everything Rarity told him, and how he reacted. “SHE SAID WHAT? How could she say that to you? You’re the perfect stall…dragon for her. Don’t take it personally, she doesn’t know what she lost.” “Thanks Twilight, I can always count on you to help me. Unlike some other mare.” “I’ll always be here for you Spike. I’m going to give you the next few days off you need to recover. Feel free to talk to me at any time you need Spike. I’m here to help Spike.” "Thanks. I think I'm going to have supper then go to bed." "Sure thing Spike. I'll be downstairs reading if you need anything." Spike went downstairs to the kitchen and filled a bowl with gems. He went back upstairs and ate in bed. I just want this day to end! After he finished eating, Spike attempted to sleep. But it was to no avail. He could not get those awful words Rarity told him out of his head. All he could do was lye there hopping he would eventually fall asleep. A few hours later Twilight came in, ready to go to bed, when she noticed Spike. Spike had a look of pure pain and betrayal. Twilight could not help but feel terrible herself. She’s never seen Spike so depressed in her life. "How are you feeling Spike?" "Horrible... Rarity's right, there is no possible way it would work out. I only told her those words because I wanted it to be possible. In the end she is right though. I don't know what to do anymore Twilight!" Twilight planted herself next to Spike. She placed her hoof on Spike’s back, and started to rub it up and down in a motherly way. Spike started to smile; he enjoyed Twilight’s motherly company. She always knew how to make him feel better in these moments. Twilight continued to comfort him until he eventually fell asleep. She placed his blanket over him, and kissed him on the forehead goodnight. She climbed into her bed and went to sleep as well. Twilight woke up to the sound of crying the next morning. She noticed Spike had his head in his pillow, crying as hard as last night. “Spike what’s the matter?” “I can’t get Rarity’s rejection out of my head. Those words are like daggers, and they’re digging deeper into my heart. Why did she not accept my offer Twilight? I would always be there to care for her. I would always be there for her, no matter the case. I would be there when she’s sick, when she’s sad, happy, mad, depressed, anything that comes up. I truly loved her Twilight. It wasn’t some silly crush. And now there is no chance for me to be her special-stallion. She made that clear.” Spike had ran out of tears. His eyes were red and puffy. “Spike I want you to stay home. I don’t want you going outside, I don’t want you to accidentally run into Rarity. If you need anything Spike, Anything just let me know. Do you understand me Spike?” “Yes Twilight” “Good. Let’s go get some breakfast, that should help you clear your mind.” “Sounds great!” Twilight and Spike walked downstairs into the kitchen. Spike helped Twilight get breakfast ready. “What should we have for breakfast today?” “I’m in the mood for eggs and toast with some of Applejack’s delicious apple jelly. How about you Spike?” “That sounds good to me.” “Alright, I’ll get the eggs ready and put the toasts in the toaster. Can you please get the table ready for us Spike? My number one assistant.” “Sure thing!” Spike felt a little better after hearing Twilight’s comment. Spike had the table ready in only a minute. I bet even Rainbow Dash couldn’t get a table ready that fast! Spike walked back to the kitchen just in time to help Twilight put the eggs and toast on the plates. He carried both plates to the table. They sat down and started to eat. “What do you have planned today Twilight?” “Well I need to check the mail, hopefully my book has arrived. After that I am going to help Applejack collect her apples from the trees. And this afternoon I have to do an inventory check and pick up anything I need. That leaves tonight free to spend time with you Spike.” “You, having free time. That’s a good one Twilight you almost had me there.” “I’m serious! I always like to have one day a week where I can have some free time to do whatever I want. And today I decided to spend time with you.” “Thanks Twilight, I appreciate that. I need all the support I can get. By the way Twilight could I go with you to Sweet Apple Acres? I know you said you wanted me to stay home, but I think collecting apples will help my mind.” “Sure Spike, I’ll just use the teleporting spell on the both of us, that way we won’t have to worry about any ‘unwanted encounters’.” Twilight and Spike finished their breakfast. They cleaned the dishes and walked into the living room. “Spike get ready to leave, I’m going to check the mail and then we’re going.” “Alright, I’ll be back in a second.” Twilight checked the mail. “Yes yes yes yes yes! My book finally came in!” Twilight ran back inside and put the book on the table. Just at that moment Spike walked downstairs. “Are you ready to go Spike?” “I sure am.” Twilight surrounded Spike and herself in purple hora. With a poof they arrived in front of Sweet Apple Acres. It was a beautiful day. The sun was big and bright. There were no clouds in sight. The wind was gently blowing. The apple trees were moving to the wind's beat. They were greeted by Applejack. “Howdy Twilight and Spike.” “Hi Applejack can I speak with you for a minute? Spike why don’t you get the baskets ready to collect the apples?” “Yes mom.” Spike said in mocking yet fun voice. Twilight and Applejack walked to the barn. “I hope you don’t mind that I brought Spike. He asked me if he could come to help clear his mind. He asked Rarity to be his special-mare, but she crudely declined him. He has been feeling depressed ever since. So please be gentle on him.” “Sure thing Twilight. Poor Spike. That Rarity needs to learn how to be careful on what she says… Anyway it’s a good thing Spike’s here, I’m sure Apple Bloom would love to play with him after were done. That should help cheer him up!” “That sounds great. I have to do an inventory check and pick up anything I need this afternoon. It would be great to have Spike do something he enjoys while I do that. I do need him back by supper though. I promised him I would spend my free time with him tonight.” “Can do!” Twilight and Applejack walked back to the acres of apple trees. Spike had already finished preparing the baskets. “What took you guys so long? I was done ages ago.” Spike had a grin on his face. “Good for you Rainbow Dash.” Twilight chuckled a little. “Alright ya’ll let’s get started.” Spike and Twilight started putting the baskets underneath the trees, ready for Applejack to kick he apples off the tree. It only took them three hours to do the entire acres. They started walking back to the barn, proud of a good day’s work. “You did great out there kiddo.” “Thanks Applejack. It was hard work, but it felt good.” “Twilight do you mind if I speak to Spike privately for a second?” “Go ahead Applejack I’ll just return these apples to the barn and I’ll wait for you two there.” “Thanks Twilight.” Applejack guided Spike off to the side behind some trees for privacy. “Spike I’m sorry to hear about what happened yesterday, Twilight told me everything.” “Oh, yeah.” Tears were forming around Spike’s eyes. “She made it clear she would never want to go out with me. She’s afraid that if anypony found out, it would ruin her ‘reputation as a fashionista and ruin her business’, just because I’m a dragon. And she’s right it would never work out.” “Come ‘er Spike.” Applejack gave Spike a friendly hug. Spike returned it immediately. “Thanks Applejack, I needed that.” “You’re welcome Spike. And Spike feel free to come over anytime. Even if it’s just to talk, I’m here buddy, and I’m sure Apple Bloom wouldn’t mind a play buddy.” “Thanks. I will keep that mind.” “We better get to the barn before Twilight starts to worry.” Spike and Applejack arrived at the barn only a few minutes later. They were greeted by a nervous Twilight. “What took you guys so long? I need to go soon otherwise my whole schedule will be off!” “Sorry Twilight, I was just giving Spike a pep talk.” “Alright. Now Spike I’ve got to go do my inventory, Applejack said you could stay here and play with Apple Bloom until supper. I will return then to pick you up.” “Sounds good Twilight.” “Bye Applejack I’ll see you later. And thanks for helping with Spike.” “It’s mah pleasure. Bye Twilight.” Twilight teleported back to the library with a poof. “I’ll go get Apple Bloom Spike, wait here for a second.” “Sure thing.” A few moments later Applejack came back with an excited Apple Bloom. “Hey Spike! Are you ready to go an adventure to help me find my Cutie Mark?” “I’m always ready Apple Bloom.” “Just promise me you two will stay within Sweet Apple Acres.” “We promise!” “Alright. Now you two run off and have fun I’ll be in barn sorting out the apples if you need me.” “Alright sis.” Spike and Apple Bloom started walking towards the gardens. “What do you have in mind today to get your Cutie Mark?” “I was thinkin we could try breaking wooden boards with our hooves like the professionals do.” “I don’t think that’s a good idea Apple Bloom, you could hurt yourself pretty badly.” “I know! We could create an obstacle course near the barn. I might earn my Cutie Mark as professional athlete!” “Sounds good to me.” Apple Bloom and Spike walked back towards the barn. Spike set up the course. He used some rocks, some dead branches and the hurdles Applejack would use to train for the rodeo. “Are you ready Apple Bloom?” “Ready!” “On three, one, two, Three!” Apple Bloom ran off, leaving a cloud of dust behind her. She easily made her way around the rocks. She jumped over every branch. When she got to the hurdles, she started feeling nervous. She arrived at the first one. She took a mighty leap, and she barely made it over. She felt a little more nervous. She soon arrived at the hurdle. Again she took a mighty leap. This time the end of her hoof touched the hurdle. Her nerves continued acting up. She had made it to the third and final hurdle. She took one last mighty leap, only this time she didn’t have enough speed built up to make it. Her back leg hit the hurdle and she fell forward. She landed on her stomach. Spike ran over checking on her. “Oh my Celestia, are all right Apple Bloom?” Spike said concern in his voice. “I’m fine Spike. That was AWESOME! Let’s do that again!” “I think you should take a break after falling like that. You did great otherwise.” “You really think so!” Apple Bloom wore a smile from cheek to cheek. “I do. I think you may have a future as an athlete. Speaking of an athlete, let’s go ask Applejack if she would like help with her apple sorting.” “Maybe I’ll get my Cutie Mark as a professional apple inspector.” They walked to the barn and met up with Applejack. “Hey sis, Spike and I were wonderin if you would like us to help you sort those apples.” “Why aren’t you two off playin?” “We were sis. I asked Spike to make me an obstacle course, so that maybe I would get my Cutie Mark as a professional athlete. But I tripped and fell on the third hurdle. Before you ask I’m fine. Spike suggested that you might like some help. So that got me thinking, I could get my Cutie Mark as a professional apple inspector!” “I would like the help. Thanks guys.” The two set themselves up beside Applejack. “If you see any bruised ones, throw them in the bucket over there. We feed those to the pigs.” Applejack said pointing at the bucket. “Okay dokey sis.” With the three gone to work it only took them one hour to go through every apple. “Thanks for the help you two. As a token of mah appreciation, feel free to have a delicious apple on the house.” “Thanks Applejack.” Spike looked at through the beautiful apples. He saw two perfect apples. They had no bruises and they were the perfect shade of red. “Would it be alright if I took one for Twilight as well?” “Sure thing Spike.” Apple Bloom and Spike enjoyed their apples. “That was the best apple yet Applejack.” “Thanks Spike, I’m glad ya’ll liked it.” It was now almost suppertime for the average pony. The three were leaving the barn when all of a sudden they heard a familiar voice coming closer and closer. “Oh Applejack I just simply must buy another jar of apple jelly. It was simply devine… Oh. Hi Spike, Apple Bloom.” “Oh… Hi Rarity.” “How have you been doing Spike?” “Oh now you care about me! What about yesterday, it seemed you didn’t care about my feelings then!” “That’s not true Spike…” “Save it Rarity! You might want to continue to stay as friends, but I can’t just be friends with you Rarity. So get that in your head!” Spike couldn’t hold his tears back any longer. He ran towards the library as fast as he could. Just as Spike was out of view, there was a bright flash of light. Twilight just arrived at the scene. “Hey Applejack I’m here to pick up Spike… Rarity what are you doing here?” “I just came by to buy a jar of apple jelly from Applejack. It is simply devine…” Twilight and Applejack each slapped Rarity on the cheek. “What was that for!?” “Are you that full of yourself Rarity!? Yah broke Spike’s heart and you think you can just casually talk to him? He’s depressed, you permanently broke his heart Rarity!” “What? Spike? He only had a crush on me, there isn’t any true love behind it.” “Are you kidding me Rarity!?” Twilight shouted. “He told me himself he was truly in love with you. He said himself it wasn’t a silly crush. How could you think that Rarity! You really need to open up your eyes and notice other ponies’ feelings. You may not ‘love’ him, but that doesn’t give you the right to say all those things you told him yesterday!” “I do love Spike! But it would never work out.” “Tell me Rarity what wouldn’t work out?” “Well first off were different species.” “That isn’t that uncommon. There have tales of dragons and ponies living together.” “Fine, but what about our age difference?” “You know deep down Rarity that dragons mature differently than ponies. Spike may be a young dragon, but in pony years he’s only a couple years younger than us.” “But what about the other ponies? They would lose respect for me as a fashionista and would stop coming to my business.” “That’s not true Rarity. They would accept you two. Look at Lyra and Bon-Bon they’re both females and they are openly dating. The ponies still respect them even though it isn’t the ‘norm’.” “You really think the other ponies wouldn’t care?” “I know it Rarity. You need to give it a chance, otherwise you’ll never find out. Do you want to go on living not knowing the answer to that question?” “You’re right Twilight. I’ll never know if I don’t try. I’ll visit Spike at the library tomorrow. I’ll tell him I’ve reconsidered and I would love to go out with him.” “That sounds like a great idea. I’ll make sure Spike is home tomorrow for your arrival. Good luck Rarity, Spike needs you to be there for him.” “Thanks Twilight. I won’t fail like last time.” Spike couldn’t hold his tears back any longer. He ran towards the library as fast as he could. When he arrived he slammed the door open. He slammed it shut and ran upstairs. He didn’t care whether Twilight was there or not. I thought I could get over you Rarity but I can’t. My love for you is still there. No matter what I do I can’t get rid of it. She made it clear she had no feelings for me. How am I supposed to continue to live with these feelings knowing she doesn’t share them back? How am I supposed to continue living in this world if I have to be around you as ‘only friends’?  My heart won’t allow me to be just friends. My broken heart wants more. My broken heart now non repairable. There seems to be only one option. Suicide. But it needs to be something I can easily hide from Twilight and the others. I know a vial of poison. That should work. But the only pony in possession of such powerful ingredients is Zecora. I’ll sneak out tonight after Twilight falls asleep and hope I can sneak into Zecora’s place and make a poison. Spike was suddenly interrupted by a bright flash, it was Twilight. “Spike are you alright? Applejack told me what happened.” “I’m feeling better Twilight.” Spike lied. “That’s good to hear. I’m just glad you’re home safe. I was worried about you.” Twilight hugged Spike chocking him. “Twilight. Twilight you’re chocking me!” “Sorry Spike, I just worry about you, you’re my closest family I have at the moment.” “I love you Twilight.” “I love you too Spike. Well Spike I’m still going to spend tonight with you like I promised.” “That sounds great.” “I don’t know about you Spike but after all that work I’m starved. I’m going to go make something” “I’m starving as well. After the hard work this morning, then playing with Apple Bloom, then the incident with you know who.” “What are you in the mood for Spike?” “I’m in the mood for some sapphires. What about you Twilight?” “I think I’m going to make myself a Daffodil salad.” They both walked downstairs. While Twilight prepared her salad, Spike prepared the table. When he was done he joined Twilight in the kitchen. He got a bowl and filled it with the last of his sapphires. “Whoa there Spike, you must be really hungry.” Twilight said snickering. “Ha ha Twilight. You need to work on your jokes.” Spike said rolling his eyes. “Well I thought it was funny.” They both took their bowls and sat down at the table. This was the last night Spike would see Twilight, he was determined to make it the best night ever. “So Spike what would you like to do after supper?” “I’m thinking we should start reading your new book together. It looks interesting.” Spike said looking at the book. “You’re actually interested in one of my books?” “Believe it or not yes.” “Wow Spike, it took you forever to get interested in the most fun pastime; reading.” “Yeah yeah, let me have it.” “No… I won’t. I’ll just say I Told You you’d find reading fun eventually.” “Can we just start reading before I change my mind for another ten years?” “Sure thing Spike.” They deposited their dished in the sink. “I’ll clean those later Spike. Let’s get reading! I’m so excited!” They sat down on the couch. Spike sat on Twilight’s lap. He could stay there forever. He loved spending alone time with Twilight, his ‘mom’. The book they were reading was titled, ‘The Magic of Friendship’ by Twilight Sparkle. It was a book Twilight Sparkle published over a month ago with the Princess’ permission of course. It was a book written based on Twilight’s reports on the magic of friendship. They read for two hours before stopping. “I’m getting tired Twilight, I’m going to bed.” “Me too, I’m just glad the book is perfect so far.” The two walked upstairs. They both brushed their teeth and flossed. They then made their way to their respective beds. Spike waited for Twilight to fall. Only a few minutes he heard a sound that was familiar to him, Twilight was snoring. Spike quietly snuck out of bed. He opened and shut the bedroom door quietly. He managed to get outside without alerting Twilight. He ran towards Zecora’s house in the Everfree forest. He took the long way around to avoid being seen by Fluttershy. He arrived at Zecora’s house. He noticed a note on the door. Out to get flowers in the forest. Will be back shortly. Thank Celestia, this makes things much easier. Spike tried opening the door but it was locked. He noticed an open window. He looked inside making sure the coast was clear. He jumped in and started looking through her books. One book caught his attention. How to make sure your potion successfully works. Tips and Tricks. Spike opened the book, the first sentence caught his attention. It read With any potion you must not add more potassium (K) than required. Adding too much potassium (K) could potentially kill the pony drinking it. I can create a poison by adding an extreme amount of potassium. Spike chose to make the first potion that contained potassium he saw. Here we go. And what a coincidence it happens to be a green coloured potion. Spike followed the instructions to the last word. Now to turn it into poisonous substance. Spike poured all of the potassium from the beaker. I hope that’s enough. There done! Spike poured the ‘poison’ into an empty vial. Just as Spike finished he heard hoof steps. Oh no! Zecora’s almost home. Where’s that open window? Spike quickly put the poison in his ‘pocket’. Zecora was at the front door now. Just as she started to unlock the door Spike found the open window and jumped out. He ran into the forest and hid behind a tree. “What was that noise?” Zecora said as she jumped from shock. “It must have been the wind.” Zecora entered her house. She could not believe what she saw. There were books everywhere, beakers and vials all over the tables and floors. She saw there was an open window. She ran up to it, looking around to see if anyone was still there. “Why would someone touch my chemicals, it is not very practical.” That was close. Luckily I found that window on time. Spike was walking towards Ponyville. Thoughts were racing through his mind. “This is it Spike, everything is ready.” But what about your friends Spike? You’ll have to leave them behind. “I may have leave the others behind, but at least I won’t have to suffer knowing that Rarity doesn’t love me anymore.” But you’re friends are here to help you through this Spike. You’ll get over it eventually. “Eventually is too long! I want to end the suffering now!” Only you can stop yourself before it’s too late Spike, make the right decision. “I don’t know what to chose anymore. One hand I could go through with it and end my suffering, but I would lose my friends. On the other, I could get over it after many years and I wouldn’t have to leave my friends behind. I have to make my decision quickly before someone catches me.” //-------------------------------------------------------// Ending 1 I won't accept no for an answer //-------------------------------------------------------// Ending 2 I love you Spike (Part 1: Happy Ending) He had made up his mind. As he was walking to the park he decided to look at everything around him one last time. Luna had outdone herself this time. The sky was beautiful the stars were shining brightly and the moon was full. Around him the trees were peaceful, and were beautiful with their leaves fully in bloom. There were flowers of all different colours. There were red, purple, white, yellow flowers. Even the wind was quiet. Spike had arrived at his destination, the back of the park where there were no ponies in view. “This is it.” Spike said, talking to himself out loud. “I don’t see any reason to continue on, Rarity rejected me. I’ll never find love again. Soon I won’t be able to live with my friends anymore…” Just then Rarity arrived at the park. She heard the sound of someone’s voice. “Who could that be at this time? Most ponies are asleep by now.” Rarity walked towards the sound of the voice. As Rarity walked closer, Spike said. “It’s time now Spike… here… we… go…” Spike pulled out the vial of poison from his ‘pocket’. Rarity could see Spike now. “Spike. What are you doing here at this time?” Spike paused for a minute. What is Rarity doing here? Never mind that now Spike, you need to do this before someone tries to stop you. As Spike was lost in thought, Rarity saw the vial of poison in his hand. Without thinking, she used her magic to knock the vial out of Spike’s hand. “Spike! What were you thinking!? Why would you even attempt that?” Anger and worry in her voice. “Rarity why would you do that?” Spike quickly started looking for the vial. “Looking for this?” Rarity said, holding the vial in her hoof. “I did that because I needed to tell you something Spike…” “I don’t care what you have to say, you made it pretty clear you didn’t want me in your life. So why don’t you make yourself useful for once and leave me alone.” Spike said tears forming around his eyes. “I can’t do that Spike, I need to talk to you and you’re going to listen whether you like it or not. This is important for the both of us.” “Oh really. What could you say that would benefit me?” “I… Spike… Will you be my special-stallion?” “Are… are… you serious?” “Yes. I have thought about it, and I want to give us a chance.” “You’re not just saying that to make me feel better?” “Of course not Spike. I am always serious. Rarity would never joke around with such things.” “Already then, I accept.” Tears of joy were flowing out of Spike’s eyes. Rarity grabbed Spike and hugged him as tight as possible. She started crying as well. She was crying because Spike was finally her special dragon. She never thought it would be possible, but there it was, the moment she wanted the most. For Spike it was the moment he was dreaming of ever since he first saw Rarity. The mare of his dreams finally asked to go on a date with him. Rarity’s fur was now soaked and Spike’s chest was also soaked. “I love you Spike.” “I love you too Rarity. I think I better get back to the library before Twilight notices I’m gone.” “Spike could you please come home with me, I really would like to have you around, after I just almost witnessed you trying to…” “Sure Rarity, let me just go home and let Twilight know, it would help if you came with me.” “I would love to Spike.” They walked to library. Spike held Rarity’s hoof in his claw. He never wants to leave her side again; this was the best day of his life. They arrived at the library. Spike opened the door, only to see a worried Twilight. “Spike where were you?” “I went out for a walk when…” “I saw him Twilight. He was crying. If I were to guess it was because of my stupidity. I never should have given him the idea that there was no way it would work out. So I asked him to be my special-stallion and he accepted. I asked him if he would accompany me tonight at my place.” “Sure thing Rarity, but don’t ever do that again Spike! Always let me know where you are, you never know when something bad could happen and then how am I supposed to know where you are when you don’t tell me?” Twilight said her anger building up. Her inner mother took over. “Sorry Twi, I promise I won’t do that again.” “Alright. Now enjoy your night with Rarity.” “Bye Twi.” “Bye Spike, bye Rarity.” “Goodbye Twilight.” With that Spike held Rarity’s hoof in his claw again, as they walked to the Carousel Boutique. Spike opened the door for Rarity. “Ladies first.” “Why aren’t we a gentledragon.” Rarity gracefully walked inside. Spike followed closing the door behind him. “I’m getting tired Spike, could you wait for me here.” “Sure thing Rarity.” Rarity walked upstairs into her bedroom and put on her comfy bathrobe. She sat on the left side of the bed and called Spike. “Spike can you please come here?” “Right away Rarity.” Spike walked upstairs happily and entered Rarity’s room. He noticed her sitting on the bed. “Spike please come and sit beside me.” Spike listened and sat beside her on the bed. “Spike, promise me you’ll never leave me, promise me you’ll always be there when I need you and promise me you’ll only love me.” “I promise. Now it’s your turn. Promise me you’ll always love me no matter what, promise me you’ll always back me up when the time comes and promise me that you’re love will always be sincere.” “I promise. Now Spike I think we should go to bed.” They both got under the sheets the way insisted. Rarity turned off the lights with her magic. They both tried to sleep. But they couldn’t stop thinking about each other. “Rarity, are you still awake?” “Yes Spike I can’t sleep.” “Rarity can I tell you something?” “Anything Spike.” “Tonight, if you hadn’t stopped me, I was going to drink that poison. The reasons you told me that we would never work just crushed my world. I lost all hope in life, I couldn’t bare it anymore, and then Twilight helped cheer me up. I asked her if I could accompany her to Sweet Apple Acres to help clear my mind. It was good until I saw you that night. My depression came back, that’s when I ran back to the library. I came up with the plan to go to Zecora’s to make a poison after Twilight fell asleep. I went over to Zecora’s, luckily she was gone so I made the poison. After that I wanted to enjoy the last minutes of my life, by taking a walk to the park. And that’s when you found me.” “Spike, I had no idea that my words affected you that deeply. If I knew it would hurt you that badly I would have never said all of those things. Please accept my apology Spike, I never meant to hurt you. And after taking a while to think I realized all of my excuses were all invalid.” “I forgive you Rarity. All that matters is, in the end, it's that we are together now.” Rarity blushed. She held Spike in a hug. Spike returned it immediately. She gave him a passionate kiss on the lips. They continued holding the hug and eventually fell asleep in that position. The bright sunlight shone through the windows in Rarity’s bedroom waking both of them up. “Good morning Rarity.” “Good morning Spike.” Rarity said giving him a quick kiss on the lips. “How was your sleep last night Spike?” “It was great, since you were right next to me.” Rarity blushed. It might have been cheesy but Rarity loved the compliment. “How about you Rarity?” “It was divine, it helped knowing I finally have you Spike.” “Thanks Rarity, that means a lot.” They were both interrupted by the sounds of their stomachs rumbling. “I think we should get some breakfast.” “Allow me Spike.” Rarity took off her bathrobe and walked downstairs, Spike followed. They arrived in the kitchen. “What would you like for breakfast Spike?” “I would like some of your delicious carrot pancakes.” “Coming right up!” Rarity got started on the pancakes, while Spike got the table ready. Spike walked back into the kitchen just in time to help Rarity bring the food to the table. They sat down close enough that their legs were touching. “What do you have planned today Spike?” “I probably have to help Twilight with some chores when I get home. And then I was going to just relax tonight. What about you Rarity?” “I was going to finish making my last order today after you left and then I was going to relax and take some time off tonight.” “I just got a great idea, how would you like to go for our first date tonight? We could have picnic in the park.” “That sounds great Spike, why don’t you come and pick me up at six?” “I’ll be there.” They both finished their breakfast. Spike helped Rarity clean the dishes. Spike followed by Rarity walked to the front door. “I’ll see you tonight at six, my lady.” “I can’t wait!” Spike kissed Rarity on the lips, surprising her. Rarity returned the gesture. “I’ll see you later Spike.” She said in a slightly sensual voice. “Goodbye lady Rarity.” With that, Spike walked towards the library. Rarity closed the door behind him and walked into her designing room. The room was a mess, or as Rarity called it, “organized chaos”. There was fabric covering every table. Ribbons and bows all over the floor. In the middle there was the dress Rarity needed to finish. It was almost done, it was just missing that “je ne sais quoi”. Alright Rarity, get in the zone. The faster you finish this dress, the more time you have to get ready for Spike’s date tonight. Just then an idea struck her. “IDEA!” I can’t believe I didn’t think of this earlier. All it needs is… Rarity was rummaging through her pile of gems. Aha! Here we go, some beautiful emeralds and amethysts, this will be perfect on the body of the dress, they are just small enough to go along the body. Rarity used her hooves to have the best precision when she placed the gems on the dress. Her magic would not have been precise enough for that size of gem. She had finished the dress; it was now two in the afternoon. Perfect! Now what time is it? It is two o’clock. That gives me plenty of time to prepare for my date tonight, but first I need to clean up this mess. The room gave off a bright blue colour from Rarity’s hora surrounding all the objects in the room. She carefully placed all of the objects back in their homes. It only took her about ten minutes. She then walked upstairs into her bathroom to get ready for tonight. She decided to take a bath first. She filled the tub with soothing warm water. She dipped her mane in the water letting it lose its perfect curls. She did the same with her tail. Since it was going to be a special night, she decided to use her expensive shampoo to give her mane and tail an extra bounce and extra shine to it. For her fur she used another shampoo to give it a nice subtle lavender scent. She stepped out of the bathtub and pulled out the plug and let the water drain. She carefully dried herself off as not to mess her mane up to much. She combed her mane and tail. She then prepared the curlers and started curling her mane and tail. She made sure that every strand was curled before moving on to her makeup. She used her brighter red lipstick. She then put on her fake lashes and applied mascara on her real ones. She applied her favourite blue eye shadow. She then applied lotion on her hooves. Just then, it was time to remove the curlers. She carefully pulled them out, not wanting to pull any of her precious mane or tail hairs. Perfect, she thought. All that was left was her perfume. She walked over to her bedside table and took out the perfume Spike enjoyed the most, the subtle scent of frosting. It was now five in the afternoon. Rarity walked downstairs and relaxed on the couch in wait for Spike’s arrival. With that, Spike walked towards the library. I can’t wait for tonight. I am going to prepare the best date Rarity has ever been on. I am going to make her favourite foods: cucumber sandwiches with the crusts cut off, home made salad with home made dressing, cupcakes and vanilla flavoured tea. That’ll be perfect! As for the location, it has to be somewhere special, I want it to be perfect. I’ll take her to the hill behind Sweet Apple Acres, one can see the beautiful sun set and it has a great view of the forest and Ponyville. Just then Spike arrived at the library, he opened the door and was greeted by Twilight. “Hey Spike, how was last night? Did you two you know?” “What are you talking about? “Did you two… mate?” “What! No! Ew Twilight, No! We slept together but all we did was kiss and talked about how much we love each other.” “Haha I was just kidding Spike! I’m glad to hear it went well. You two really deserve each other.” “Thanks Twilight. What about you, how was your night?” “It was great. I was finally able to sleep properly since there wasn’t a dragon snoring beside me.” “Hey! For your information Rarity had great nights sleep, so there. And as a matter of fact it went so well, that we’re going on a date tonight!” “Congratulations Spike! Where are you two doing?” “I’m going to make us a picnic and we’re going to eat it on the hill behind Sweet Apple Acres. It has the perfect view of the sun set, of Ponyville and the forest. For the food I’m going to make: a home made salad with homemade dressing, cucumber sandwiches with the crusts cut off, home made cupcakes and the vanilla tea we have. It’ll be perfect!” “Sounds like you have it all figured out. Well have a good time tonight, I’m going out to Zecora’s, she’s going to show me how she makes her special tea! If you plan on staying at Rarity’s tonight just leave me a note so I won’t worry about you tonight. Lastly if you need money to buy supplies, take some from my night table.” “Ok Twi.” “Bye Spike, enjoy your date tonight.” “Bye Twi and thanks.” Twilight walked off towards the forest. Spike went into the kitchen and went through it to make sure he had all the necessary items. Looking good. We have all the necessary items. I’ll get the salad and dressing ready and I’ll add the dressing to the salad later. Spike started by chopping the items for the salad. He then prepped the dressing, keeping it in a jar until later. He then followed by making the cupcakes. He made chocolate cupcakes with vanilla frosting. “I’d better get cleaned up and ready for tonight, I’ll make the tea at the picnic spot and the sandwiches I’ll make before I leave.” Spike walked upstairs into the bathroom. He again used his vanilla scented soap, combed his spikes and made sure his scales were shiny and sparkly and brushed his teeth. After he finished, he walked into the kitchen and looked at the time. It was now five thirty. “I have just enough time to fill the kettle with water, get all the utensils out, get the salad and dressing out. Get the tea leaves and make the cucumber sandwiches.” Spike quickly packed the items into the picnic basket. He made the sandwiches (making sure to cut off the crusts) and placed them in the basket. Spike walked outside locking the door behind him. He made it to Rarity’s by six o’clock on the dot. He knocked on the door excited for the night’s events. There was a knock at the door. “Coming!” Rarity walked over to the door, excited to see what Spike had prepared for them. All she could think about on the way to the door was what Spike had planned for her that evening. Rarity reached the door and opened it happy to see Spike. “Just on time Spike! Please come in, I just need to grab my coat and then we can go.” “Sure thing my lady. Take your time.” “Thanks Spike, I will be right back.” Rarity kissed Spike on the lips causing him to blush. She walked upstairs into her bedroom. She grabbed the beautiful coat she designed herself. It was a magnificent purple coat, covered with diamonds, aqua marines and amethysts. She loved that coat and couldn’t wait to show Spike. She walked downstairs and saw Spike open his mouth in awe. “What do you think Spike?” Rarity said while turning to show off the coat. “It’s beautiful Rarity!” Spike said closing his mouth quickly, not wanting to offend Rarity. “I made it myself. The inspiration came, when I looked in my chest of gems one day when I was looking for inspiration. I saw these gems and the idea came.” Spike could not stop staring at her. She was beautiful, she was beautiful no matter what, but that coat made her look irresistible. She always knew how to make the perfect clothes. “Let’s get going Spike. I am excited to see what you have planned for us.” “I planned it to perfectly accommodate our love.” Spike guided Rarity towards the spot he chose. As he was about to get the picnic ready, he got an idea in his head. “Rarity, I want you to cover your eyes, it’s a surprise.” “Alright Spike.” Rarity covered her eyes. Thoughts of what Spike had for a surprise flooded her mind. Spike took out two blankets for them to sit on, making sure they were clean. He also pulled out the picnic blanket and food. He warmed up the tea water with his fire breath and poured the water into the cups that had tea bags in them already. He made sure everything was perfect before showing Rarity. “Alright Rarity it’s ready.” Rarity opened her eyes. She made a small shriek of joy. Her eyes started to water, she even started to blush. “Spike you did all of this for us?” “I did, you mean everything to me Rarity!” Rarity hugged Spike and gave him a kiss on the lips. “This is perfect!” Spike guide Rarity onto her blanket. He started out by pulling out the sandwiches. “Spike you cut off the crusts, how fancy of you.” “Thanks. I remembered you liked sandwiches without the crust. And I wanted this to be perfect!” “You did a great job Spike!” The tea was now ready, Spike offered Rarity the tea. “How many sugars would you like Rarity?” “Two please.” Spike used the tongs to pick up the sugar cubes. “Here you go my lady.” “Thanks you.” “Here you go Rarity I made cupcakes with purple frosting, your favourite colour.” “That’s lovely!” Rarity took a bite. “Spike that’s amazing! Where did you get the recipe?” “Pinkie Pie gave it to me. The only reason she gave it to me, was for this date. She refused every other time I asked her.” “I must say, you did a better job than Pinkie Pie. You have to keep that between us.” “My lips are sealed, and thank you.” They finished up their cupcakes and sat down and continued to talk. “That was amazing Spike! I can’t believe you got all of that ready with only one days notice.” “Thanks Rarity. It was no problem, I’m used to making a meal at a fast pace since I make the meals for Twilight and I.” The sun started to set. “Look Rarity the sun setting.” Rarity sat up. “Spike it’s beautiful!” Rarity blushed not expecting Spike to kiss him on the lips. “I love you Rarity!” “I love you to Spike!” *Three years later* Spike was awoken by the sound of a sewing machine. Ever since I moved in with Rarity I’ve noticed how much work she does when no one is around. That pony never gets any sleep. Spike walked into Rarity’s sewing room. “Don’t you ever take a break?” “Spike you know this dress has to look perfect.” “You know you look perfect already, and every dress looks perfect on you.” “Spike… You always know what to say.” Spike walked up to Rarity and gave her a passionate kiss on the lips. “Alright Spike I’ll take a break, but only if you promise to help me on my dress later.” “You don’t need to ask, I always helped you with your dresses in the past and I always will.” Spike and Rarity walked into the living room. They continued to kiss passionately. Spike woke up to the beautiful sunlight that morning. He looked at the beautiful Rarity still asleep. Spike decided to go downstairs and get breakfast ready and bring it to Rarity in bed. He decided to make carrot pancakes and blueberry oatmeal. He got both their food ready and brought it upstairs to the bedroom. Just as he walked in, Rarity woke up. “Hi Rarity, breakfast is ready.” “Oh Spike you didn’t have to do that.” “Nonsense, you stayed up late last night making your dress. You deserve a break, besides we need to get ready for the Grand Galloping Gala…” “I completely forgot about that, we have to hurry Spike!” Rarity rushed to eat breakfast. Spike ate his fast as well; today was a special day he had planned for months. It had to go perfectly. After they finished their breakfast, Rarity ran into the bathroom and started getting ready for the night ahead. Spike on the other hand, got everything ready for the surprise that night. The two were finished with ten minutes to spare. “You look BEAUTIFUL Rarity!” Spike said causing Rarity to blush. “Thank you Spike, you look good yourself.” This time it was Spike’s turn to blush. “Thank you Rarity, I must say it was made perfectly by you.” Spike gave Rarity an elegant kiss on the lips. “Oh Spike.” Rarity returned the kiss. “I love that perfume your wearing, it suits you perfectly!” “Oh Spike, you always know how to compliment a lady.” They continued kissing passionately. Before they knew it their ride was there to bring them to the gala. “It looks like it’s time to go my lady. Let me escort you.” “What a gentleman sir Spike.” Spike gently helped Rarity into the carriage. “I am so glad you got us tickets Spike. I always enjoy going to the elegant parties in Canterlot.” “Of course my lady, I would think of no one else to ask to accompany me.” A few moments later they arrived in Canterlot. Spike help escort Rarity out of the carriage. They met up with the other five. “Hey Twilight how ya doing without me in the library lately?” “I’ve been doing fine Spike! Although I do miss having my buddy around.” Twilight said as she hugged Spike. “I miss you to Twilight.” Spike returned the hug. “Let us all get going, we don’t want to have to wait a long time to get in.” The mane six and Spike walked in. It was beautiful to all of them. There were beautiful paintings made by the finest artists in Canterlot everywhere, impressive ice sculptures on every table, delicious food as well. They each went in a separate direction going to what they all wanted to do. Rarity went to the elegant tables and started sampling the appetizers. Twilight went to greet the Princess, this time not staying next to her; she didn’t want to have to go through what happened last time. Pinkie Pie went into the ballroom and started to sing her silly songs. Fluttershy went into the garden to observe the animals, this time the animals went near her. Applejack went to the appetizer tables as well. Comparing every apple dish to hers. Rainbow Dash joined the wonderbolts, this time making sure to keep Spitfire’s attention. Spike, was getting everything ready for that night. The gala was almost over. Spike walked over to Twilight. “Is everything ready Twilight?” “Yes it is Spike, good luck!” “Thank you Twilight.” Spike hugged Twilight. Spike made his way towards Rarity. “Rarity I need you to come with me for a second.” “Sure thing Spike.” Spike brought Rarity onto the stage. They were now the centre of attention. Spike grabbed a microphone. Spike knelt down. “Rarity you are the love of my life. You saved my life, you loved me through thick and thin, through the bad days and the good days. You make every day better by just being there. Rarity… Will you marry me?” Spike pulled out a three carrot diamond ring. Rarity’s eyes started to water. “Yes Spike. I will!” Spike put the ring on her horn. It fitted beautifully. Everyone started clapping and cheering. Rarity and Spike held a long passionate kiss. “I love you Rarity.” “I love you Spike.” Later that night they returned home and continued they’re lovely moment in the bedroom ;D. *The day of the wedding* “Relax Rarity you look perfect!” “You really think so Twilight?  Is there anything in my teeth? Is my hair perfect? Is my dress to big?...” “You look perfect Rarity, you better get out there, Spike is waiting.” “Alright I am ready Twilight.” Rarity started to walk down the aisle. Here comes the bride was being played on the piano. The CMC were hired as the flower girls. Sweetie Belle designed the dresses for them, against Rarity’s wishes. Rarity arrived at the alter. “Do you Rarity take Spike to be your lawfully wedded stallion?” “I do!” “Do you Spike take Rarity to be your lawfully wedded mare?” “I do!” “I now pronounce you mare and stallion. You may kiss the bride.” Spike gave Rarity a long deep kiss. At the wedding party, they danced almost the entire time. They were enjoying the night together, for that night three years ago, Rarity saved Spike’s life. And Spike ended up being the best part of her life. Rarity threw the bouquet into the crowd. This time Twilight caught it. That was the best night for the married couple. *Twenty years later* Spike and Rarity now lived in Canterlot. Rarity was retired and Spike was starting flight lesson school tomorrow. They lived happily ever after. Then End? //-------------------------------------------------------// Ending 2 I love you Spike (Part 2: The Real Ending) //-------------------------------------------------------// Ending 2 I love you Spike (Part 2: The Real Ending) Author's Note: Do not read unless you want an official closing to the story. This will have a death in it. You have been warned. It was a beautiful day in the mountains outside of Ponyville. The perfect day for flight training. Spike was now helping Rainbow Dash to teach the filly Pegasi. “Are you ready to start?” “Yes sir” “Today I want you ponies to just fly around and try to stay in the air as long as possible. I will be flying around and observing you ponies. The only rule is no one is allowed to fly around in Ghastly Gorge. There are too many dangers for inexperienced flyers. For example, there are the cave eels. They won’t hesitate to try and bite your wings off. Can everyone promise me they won’t go there?” “Yes Spike!” “Alright, everypony start flying” All the pegasi successfully started flying. Spike started to observe them all. Most of them were doing excellent. There were a few who were having trouble getting the wing rhythm right. And then there was Rainbow Dash jr. The best of the class, but she always had to show off. She was doing loops, corkscrews, you name it. Why do I have to show up to these lame classes? I am already a perfect flyer. I don’t need these classes. I bet I could fly through Ghastly Gorge all by myself. Rainbow Dash jr started flying towards Ghastly Gorge as Spike was taking a head count. Only problem, there was one pony missing. “Stay here everypony, I’m going to go look for Rainbow Dash jr.” Spike flew up and looked around, he found her flying around in the Gorge. He flew as fast as he possibly could towards her. He finally caught up to her. “What do you think you’re doing here?” Anger in Spike’s voice. “I’m good enough to fly through here with ease.” “No you’re not. The only other pony to fly through here was Rainbow Dash, you’re mother, the best flyer around (after me). She ended up getting her wing caught under a rock during an avalanche. Luckily Tank saved her life.” “Really? Even my mom couldn’t fly cleanly through here.” “That’s right! Now let’s get out of here before everyone starts to worry about us.” “Alright Spike.” Spike grabbed her and held her near his chest to protect her from the stalagmites. He had just arrived near the homes of the cave eels. “Rainbow jr, I need to listen to me no matter what happens. We are about to fly through the homes of the cave eels. Just hold on to me and you should be fine.” Spike started to feel nervous. He never flew through here before. The eels always scared him. He never dared go to this gorge after seeing what happened to Rainbow Dash sr. Spike started to breath deeply. He looked left and right. There must have been at least twenty caves. Spike pictured the way in his head. When he was comfortable with his plan, he flew as fast as he could towards the exit. He was dodging every eel that crossed his path. He could feel Rainbow jr shaking in fear. “Don’t worry Rainbow, were almost out of here.” Spike was just about to make it out, but he didn’t notice the cave to his left. The eel came out and tore a hole in Spike’s left wing. Spike quickly threw Rainbow jr in the air. “Rainbow fly out of here and get help. Hurry!” song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k1dEBRwtB10) Spike was falling at dangerously fast pace. He tried slowing his fall by flapping his right wing, but it was to no avail. He was simply too heavy. He tried to look for a groove in the gorge to hold on to. But he couldn’t see any. Before Spike knew it, he fell on a stalagmite. It had impaled him right in the heart. Spike was losing blood quickly. As he was dying, all he could think about was Rarity. I’m sorry Rarity… I won’t be around to help you in your old age. Life can be cruel sometimes. If it weren’t for you in the first place, I would have never had the great life we lived. For that I thank you. I remember that day like it was yesterday. “I love you Spike.” “I love you too Rarity.” ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nothing could separate us after that point. Nothing… At the Grand Gala I proposed to you, you accepted my proposal. It was the best day of my life. Nothing could ruin that day for me. You looked beautiful in that dress. The dress you worked so hard on. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I’ll miss you’re perfect smile, you’re beautiful curled lavender purple mane, you’re impeccable sapphire blue eyes and your snow white coat… Spike was suddenly interrupted by a bright purple flash. It was Twilight. “Oh, no Spike. We need to get you out of here.” Twilight used her teleportation spell to bring the both of them back to the top of the gorge. Rarity was now in view; a look of horror covered her face as she saw the shape Spike was in. “Spike… Spike what happened?” Rarity asked as she ran up to him. “One of the eels took a bite out of my wing." He said showing Rarity the wing. "I started falling immediately and tried to slow the fall with my good wing, but I was too heavy and I eventually fell on a stalagmite. It pierced straight through my heart. While I was waiting for someone to help me, all I could think about was how wonderful my life was with you Rarity…” Spike coughed, a little blood shot out of his mouth. “What do you mean was? You’re going to make it Spike, Twilight can heal you with her magic.” Rarity said worry in her voice from the thought of Spike dying. “I can’t guarantee this will work, but I’ll do my best. Spike this should close the hole in your heart and stop the bleeding. Let me know if you feel anything.” “Okay Twi.” Twilight’s horn lit up, surrounding Spike with her usual purple hora. Nothing seemed to happen. “I don’t feel anything Twi.” Spike said, coughing out more blood. Twilight kept trying, she couldn’t lose Spike either. She tried for twenty minutes now, but nothing was happening. Both Twilight and Rarity had the same thought, this was the last time they would see Spike. “I’m sorry but it didn’t work Rarity, I’ve never had the chance to practice this spell on a dragon. Dragon anatomy is very different compared to pony anatomy. I’m sorry Rarity but I can’t do anything else. I’ve tried my best.” Twilight said lowering her head in sadness. She failed… Failed. She couldn’t get that word out of her head. “Twilight, Rarity please come closer.” Spike said in a very weak voice. He in turn hugged the both of them. “Twilight I want you to promise me you’ll help Rarity out when she needs it. Whether it be moral support, or it be help with her dresses or anything in general, that you will be there willing to help her through this hard time.” “I promise Spike.” Twilight was unable to hold back any tears. “And Rarity I want you to promise me that you will help Twilight whenever she is need, no matter what the case is. She will also need you there to help her through this hard time.” “I promise Spike.” Rarity couldn’t hold back her tears either. Rarity gave one final kiss to Spike on the lips. She savored the last kiss she could ever give him. “I will be waiting for you on the other side Rarity. I…love…you…Rarity…and…Twilight.” Spike, was no longer breathing, his heart had stopped. He had passed away. Rarity and Twilight held each other in a hug, crying in each other’s shoulder. They could not believe what just happened, they just lost Spike. Twilight warped to the nearest town and asked for a carriage. She arrived back at the scene an hour later with the carriage. They carried Spike’s body all the way to Canterlot castle. On the way there, all Rarity could think about was how she could have saved Spike if she would have been there to support him from the beginning. At the same time Twilight could not help but feel like a failure, not being able to save Spike. After what felt like an eternity, they finally arrived at the Canterlot castle. The guards noticed it was Twilight and let her through, they were greeted by Princess Celestia and Princess Luna. “Twilight what brings you to the castle today?” “This is what brought us here today.” Twilight guided both Princesses to the carriage. She lifted the sheet to reveal Spike’s body. “We are so sorry Twilight and Rarity. If you do mind us asking how did Spike pass away?” “He was saving Rainbow Dash jr from the eels from Ghastly Gorge, when one of the eels took a bite out of his wing. He wasn’t able to slow his fall and fell onto a stalagmite. It impaled him right in the heart. By the time I got him out of the gorge, it was too late, he had lost too much blood. The reason I came here, was to ask you Princesses if I could please bury his body in the castle graveyard.” “Of course Twilight follow me.” Twilight and Rarity followed the Princesses past the castle’s gardens and into the graveyard. Princess Celestia chose a spot in the far back, as that was the only spot big enough for Spike’s body. She used her magic to dig the perfect hole; all four of them slowly levitated Spike’s body into the grave. They all stood there in a moment of silence. They all started to form tears around their eyes. They had all lost a good friend that day. They eventually made their way back to the entrance of the castle. “Feel free to come over anytime you two to visit Spike. I will send a letter to all of your close friends in Ponyville letting them know what took place.” “Thank you Princess.” Twilight and Rarity slowly walked back into town. They each went to their house. Rarity walked inside, she felt alone now that Spike wasn’t around. She walked into her bedroom. It still smelled like Spike. She picked up the bed sheets and started to smell them. She could smell Spike’s scent. That was all she could do at that moment. She wanted Spike back; she wasn’t ready to leave him. She laid down on the bed and wrapped herself in the blankets. She continued to smell the sheets. She eventually fell asleep. She dreamed of Spike that night. One year later… It was the one-year anniversary of Spike’s death. Rarity had a made a special dress for the occasion. She met up with Twilight at Spike’s grave. They both brought flowers and placed them over his grave. Twilight spoke first. “Spike you were the best assistant, brother and son anyone could ask for. You were the best thing that happened to me. Without you I wouldn’t have made any friends, I wouldn’t have a friend growing up in Canterlot, I wouldn’t have someone to take care of me when I was in need, I wouldn’t have a life outside of my books if it wasn’t for you. You always made my day better just by being there. Here’s to you Spike the best thing that happened to me.” Tears were flowing out of Twilight’s eyes. It was now Rarity’s turn. “My Spikey-Wikey. You were the only dragon that loved me for who I was. You always knew what to say to make my day better, you helped me through thick and thin, you always made dress making a lot easier and faster. You left us too soon Spike, I still miss you, I’m still not ready to let you go, but I have to, even though that’s the last thing I want to do. I will never forget you Spike, you will always be in my heart and I am looking forward to the day I can meet up with you again on the other side.” Rarity was also letting out tears. The gravestone read: Spike the dragon He left us too soon, He was the best friend one could have, And may he forever Rest In Peace R.I.P. //-------------------------------------------------------// Ending 2 I love you Spike (Part 3: The Real Ending part 2) //-------------------------------------------------------// Ending 2 I love you Spike (Part 3: The Real Ending part 2) Rarity and Twilight started making their way back home. “Can you believe it has already been a year Twilight?” “No I can’t. I miss Spike I wish he was still around, that smile he always wore around his friends. He always brought out the best out of everypony he loved.” “I miss him to Twilight. I’ll never forget that faithful day he almost… did that action. After I saved him, we were impossible to separate. I knew at that moment that I was in love with him and that I wanted to live with him for the rest of my life. After thinking about what life would be like without Spike… I couldn’t let him go. Now he’s dead and this time I wasn’t there to save him. It’s all my fault Twilight, I should have gone with him, I could have made sure he was safe, he could have been alive today…” “It’s not your fault Rarity… It’s mine. I could have saved him with my spell, but I failed… Failed! I never forgave myself for that. If it wasn’t for my failure Spike would still be in our lives.” “It is not your fault Twilight, you did everything you could. You even said yourself on that day that dragon anatomy was different from ours. You did everything you could and that’s the most anyone can ask for. Twilight you are not a failure, so don’t ever say that again.” “Thanks Rarity.” “I’m here for you Twilight.” Rarity gave Twilight a friendly hug, Twilight, returned the hug. They both shed tears in memory of Spike. “I better get home Twilight, I need to get some rest for tomorrow, orders will be coming in.” “Bye Rarity, and thanks.” “Anytime Twilight, and always feel free to come over if ever you need cheering up.” “I will keep that in mind Rarity.” Twilight walked off to the house her parents used to live in. Rarity on the other hand walked back to her house in Canterlot. That house always brought back memories of Spike. He helped build the house. That was his wedding gift to Rarity, and she would never forget the day he brought her here and said, “Welcome home Rarity.”. Rarity entered her home. The house was still as sturdy as it was the day they moved in. It had not aged at all in Rarity’s mind, it was still her and Spike’s house, the house they spent their last moment together before that faithful accident. Rarity walked into the bedroom. Whenever she thought of Spike, she would come to their bedroom and sit on the bed. She would smell the sheets, since they still carried his scent. She never touched any other object in the room, she wanted to keep it, as it was the last time he moved or touched anything, she couldn’t touch any of his belongings, it was too soon. She would eventually fall asleep, dazed in Spike’s scent. Meanwhile, Twilight arrived at her house. It was the house she raised Spike in. Every day old memories of Spike and her would invade her mind. *The first day she brought him home* “Yes yes yes yes yes yes! I passed my test!” Twilight said the most excited she’d ever been. “That’s great dear, but now you have the biggest responsibility in your life, taking care of and raising a dragon. Of course your dad and I will always be here to help you.” “I can do it myself mom! I’m sure there are books on how to raise dragons!” “Alright dearie, just know we are here for you.” “Alright mom.” Twilight’s mom and dad hugged her. “We are so proud of you honey, even though you turned us into plants.” Twilight’s dad said lightly chuckling. “Very funny dad, you know it was an accident, I had no idea my magic could be that powerful.” “Don’t worry about it honey, the important thing is that you turned us back to unicorns.” “I am going to show my ‘brother’ his room!” “Alright honey, have fun!” Twilight tried using her magic to levitate the dragon into her room, but her magic was mostly drained due to the sudden outburst that happened only a little while ago. She had to carry him on her back to her room. The dragon on the other hand was making noises that Twilight found adorable. She arrived at her room. The room seemed so small due to all the books lying around and all the bookshelves. There must have been at least one hundred books. To Twilight though, every single one was necessary. “Well…  I still need to name you. Hmmmmm... I know! You have beautiful spikes on your back and tail… I’ll name you Spike. Spike the Dragon! Well Spike this is my room and now your room as well. I will teach you how to speak, how to read and how to write! It’ll be so much fun! And I’ll show the Princess how great of a student I am!” Twilight was now in her old bedroom, the same room she raised him as a filly. The burn mark was still there on the wall from the first day Spike learned how to breath fire. That day she came back from school, only to see her new bookshelf that was going to hold her new books; was burned to ashes. Horrified, she turned her head towards Spike. He shot another fireball towards that spot, hitting the wall. Twilight quickly used a water spell to put out the fire. “Mom! I need you to come here, IMMEDIATELY!” Twilight could hear hoof steps dashing up the stairs and into her room. “What’s wrong d… Oh I see the problem.” Twilight’s mom cast a spell to fireproof the room. “That should do it Twilight, as for your bookshelf, we’ll simply have to buy another one. Luckily your books are fine. If you want, I can put them in our room until Spike has gone through this phase.” “That’s alright mom, I need my books to help him through this and besides, you know you’ll never be able to sleep with me going into your room at night looking for a certain book!” “Aren’t you supposed to be asleep at night?” “I mean… Oh darn, I fell right into that one.” “Don’t worry about it deerie, just make sure you sleep long enough. That doesn’t mean you can read until two in the morning.” “I usually go to sleep by one am.” Twilight said, lying to her mom. “Those were the good days.” Twilight said out loud. She was sitting on the bed now. It wasn’t the bed she had slept on in her filly years. It was a newer bed, but to Twilight it would still give her memories of Spike and her. That room would always be special to her. Twilight was getting tired; she decided to go to bed early that day. Memories of Spike and her continued to flow through her thoughts before she finally fell asleep. *20 years later* One day left. Twilight and Rarity had only one day left. They were in the hospital, dying of old age. Twilight’s heart was beating at a slower pace every hour; it was now close to stopping. Rarity’s lungs were having trouble breathing. Every breath was smaller and smaller as time went by. A familiar voice could be heard. “Twilight, Rarity how are you two feeling?” Sweetie Belle asked, not wanting to hear the bad news. “Our time is almost up Sweetie.” Rarity said with a weak voice. “No… NO! I won’t allow it! I can’t lose my big sister. I bet I can find a spell to cure the both of you…” “I’m sorry Sweetie Belle, there is nothing you can do. The doctors tried everything, even magic. Even I couldn’t cure us with my magic when I had more energy.” Twilight said, coughing a small amount of blood. “I don’t know what I’m going to do without my big sister.” “Try to take your mind off of the negative. How has your life been going Sweetie?” “It has been going great. I just signed a contract for a new record, and I also found out I am pregnant. The doctors say it’s a unicorn, female. I’ve already decided what I am going to name it.” “What are you going to name it?” “I am going to name her Rarity, after her grandma, the best grandma that existed!” “I am honored Sweetie.” The nurse had walked into the room. “Visiting hours are over, I’m afraid you’re going to have to leave.” “I’m sorry but I’m not leaving, my sister has hardly any time left before the inevitable and I want to be here for her last moment. Please, this is very important to me.” Sweetie Belle said, tears forming around her eyes. “I’m sorry but visiting hours are over…” “Please let Sweetie stay, Twilight and I would love her company until the inevitable happens. She is the only close family I have.” “Alright, but keep the noise level down, the other patients need their sleep.” The nurse closed the door and left them in peace. Sweetie Belle walked up next to Twilight. Twilight held out her hoof giving Sweetie the hint to hold her hoof. song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uRwELMBfeEI&list=PLD94VRbcDJ3dcvaeITqA4ttArlOKhjfbn&index=4) “Twilight I wanted to thank you for all the times you helped me and the Cutie Mark Crusaders with our plans to get our Cutie Marks and for helping me learn how to use magic. You were a great friend Twilight.” “Thank you Sweetie. I’ll miss seeing your filly, but I wish you the best of luck with the rest of your life. I’ll always be with you through the magic of friendship, whenever you need a friend.” Twilight said slowly in a soft voice. Sweetie Belle walked over next to Rarity. This time Sweetie hugged Rarity, being careful to not hurt her. “Big sis, I wanted to thank you for everything you’ve done for me. You helped raise me, you helped me whenever I needed help and you helped me learn magic as well. We may have almost never agreed on anything, but I always loved you anyway. I don’t want to say goodbye, I want to be able to bring you home tonight and say everything is alright. But as we both know that won’t happen.” Sweetie Belle could no longer hold back her tears. “Sweetie, my time may be almost over, but I want you to promise me to live your life to the fullest. I’ll always be there in your heart Sweetie, there to help guide you and help you through the hard times. I wish you luck with the new filly. And always know your big sis loves you no matter what.” Rarity’s breathing was getting worse. It was almost time, Sweetie Belle just stayed beside Rarity’s bed, holding her hoof. She wanted to be beside her sister as long as possible. A few hours had passed by, Rarity and Twilight had passed away.  Sweetie Belle was crying the hardest she has ever cried. When she finished she informed the nurse and left for home. Rarity and Twilight woke up to the sight of… Ponyville. “Where are we?” Rarity asked. “You are in the afterlife.” “Spike!?” Both Rarity and Twilight ran up to him and hugged him as hard as possible. “SPIKE WE MISSED YOU SO MUCH!” Rarity said, giving Spike a passionate kiss on the lips. “I missed you guys too! I was waiting for the day we would be reunited again.” “I’m glad to have my brother back. I missed you so much Spike. Everyday I would come home, memories of you and me would flood my mind. I always looked forward to those memories, they always reminded me that you we are always connected through the magic of friendship.” “I too Spike use to love going home. For the first year, I kept the room exactly as you left it. I couldn’t change anything I missed having you around so much. I would fall asleep to your smell from the bed sheets every night for that first year. I wanted you back in my life.” “Well now we will have each other forever. Let us go home.” The End //-------------------------------------------------------// The day it finally happens //-------------------------------------------------------// The day it finally happens I Won't Accept No for an Answer Written by Rarityfan87 Author's Note: I am going to put links to songs on YouTube, to help put you in the moment. Feel free to do it if you like, you don't have to. I usually listen to music when I read stories and I find it helps put me in the right mood. With that out the way... On to the story! It was a beautiful morning in Ponyville. The sun shone bright, and there was a warm gentle breeze. The flowers came to life, the trees dancing to the breeze. To a particular dragon though, he wanted the sun to go away. He wasn’t ready to wake up yet. Twilight awoke and noticed Spike was not getting up. “Spike wake up. It’s morning.” “Five more minutes Twilight.” “NOW Spike, we need to get our chores early. Don’t you remember you promised Rarity you’d help her with her dresses today?” “I forgot! Thanks for reminding me Twilight. Let’s start right away.” “Relax Spike, we still need to eat breakfast before we…” Spike ran as fast as he possibly could downstairs before Twilight had a chance to finish her sentence. Spike offered to help Rarity with her dresses today, because he was going to use the opportunity to ask her to be his special-mare while he would be alone with her. As Spike reached the kitchen, Twilight was checking the mail. He pulled out the pancake mix. “I’ll make pancakes for breakfast. They’re fast and easy to make.” He followed the instructions on the back of the box. “Eight pancakes should be enough.” Spike cooked the pancakes to a perfect golden colour. “Twilight breakfast is ready!” “Coming!” Twilight arrived to the dining room. Spike came out of the kitchen, a plate stacked with pancakes in each claw. He deposited the first plate in front of Twilight. He then placed his on the table, and took a seat beside Twilight. “You seem very excited today Spike. More than usual. What’s the occasion?” “As you know, today I’m helping Rarity make dresses. I’m also going to take the opportunity today to ask her to be my special-mare. It’ll be the perfect time, I’ll be alone with her. She won’t suspect anything. I’m going to pick up the chocolates I ordered yesterday from Sugar Cube Corner. And then I’m going to pick up some flowers. I’m going to enter her Boutique and offer her the flowers and chocolate. While she’s happy from receiving those gifts, I’m going to ask her to be special-mare friend. What do you think Twilight?” “I think it’s a great idea! I think she’ll say yes. She seems to have feelings for you Spike.” Twilight said nudging him in the shoulder. “You think so Twilight?” Spike said in his most excited voice. “She probably thinks I don’t notice, but whenever she knows you’re coming along, she always makes sure she looks perfect. Even more than usual. She wears her most expensive perfumes. And she seems to use a shampoo that makes her mane extra bouncy.” “I had no idea! Thanks Twilight! That helps me feel a little more relaxed about asking her out.” “No problem Spike.” “How about you Twilight, how have you been today so far?” “I’ve been doing great! I was hoping my book would come in today, but I just checked the mail and I only got bills. But finishing our chores will help cheer me up. Especially when I have my Number One Assistant her to help me!” Spike blushed at Twilight’s comment. He always enjoyed it when she called him her number one assistant. They finished eating their breakfast. They brought their dishes to the kitchen. Twilight helped Spike wash the dishes. They then proceeded to do their daily chores. They dusted the books and the shelves. They swept the floor. They put the books on the shelves in alphabetical order according to their section. “Finally finished. It’s only 3pm. I have enough time to wash up, pick up the chocolates and the flowers before getting to Rarity’s house.” Spike ran to the bathroom. As he was washing himself he decided to use his favourite scented soap, vanilla. He got out of the bathtub. He made to comb his spikes the way Rarity loved. He made sure his scales were shiny and sparkly. Rarity would always compliment him when he’d do that. After he was finished, he ran downstairs and asked Twilight what she thought. “You look amazing Spike! Rarity is going to love that for sure.” “Thanks Twilight. I better run I’m supposed to be there in an hour.” “Good luck Spike! I hope she accepts your offer.” “Thanks” Song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_WFLUhSym80) Spike opened the door and walked outside, closing it as he left. The day was perfect. The sun shone in the sky. Not a single cloud was hiding it's beauty. The wind was blowing a comfortably cool breeze. The flowers were dancing to the rhythm of the wind. He decided to go to Sugar Cube Corner to get the chocolate first. As Spike walked into Sugar Cube Corner, he was greeted by Pinkie Pie. “Hey Spike what’s up? “I’m here to pick up the chocolates I ordered yesterday.” “Ooooo are they for Rarity?” “It’s that obvious huh?" “Yup, pretty much everypony knows you have a crush on Rarity.” Pinkie said as she went to the back to get the chocolates. Spike felt a little embarrassed. He forgot he told Pinkie about his crush. “I made Rarity’s favourites for you. She loves Belgium chocolate the most. I know because that’s what she always orders here.” “Thanks. I’m off to get some flowers and then I’m going straight to Rarity’s” “Good luck Spike. I’m positive she’ll say yes!” “Thanks Pinkie!” “Before you go Spike, I would advise you get her some purple Lavenders, she seems to like those flowers the most, I’ve noticed.” “I’ll keep that in mind. See ya Pinkie!” Spike ran to the florists shop, hoping the chocolates haven’t melted. “Hey Spike nice to see you. What brings you here today?” The florist asked. “I’m here to pick up some purple Lavenders for some special mare.” “Good choice. They have an excellent scent to them. Let me get a dozen from the back.” The florist came back with a dozen purple Lavenders. Spike paid the florist and walked towards Rarity’s house. This is it Spike. The moment you’ve been waiting for. Better check to make sure everything is perfect. I’m washed and look perfect for Rarity, check. Chocolates in claw? Check. Flowers in the other claw? Check. Alright I’m ready to see Rarity. Spike continued to walk to the Carousel Boutique. He started to feel nervous. Think happy thoughts Spike. You don’t want to screw this up. Think positive. Think about what you love about Rarity. Well to start her mane is the perfect shade of purple, her mane is always beautifully curled and has the perfect bounce to it. Her fur, a perfect white and fluffy like a marshmallow. Her beautiful sapphire blue eyes, perfect. She’s also the most generous pony I’ve ever met. Even more than Twilight. She has been crowned the element of generosity after all. Her smile always brightens up the room. She has a caring nature to everything around her… Spike arrived at the Carousel Boutique. He took a few deep breaths and knocked on the door. The door was surrounded by Rarity’s signature blue hora as it opened. “Hello Spike, you arrived just on time, please come in.” Spike walked in, Rarity closed the door and noticed Spike was carrying something in his claws. “I got you these purple Lavenders Rarity, and this box of Belgium chocolates.” “Oh Spike you didn’t have to! Let me get a vase for those flowers.” Rarity said excitement in her voice. Rarity walked to the kitchen and grabbed a vase and filled it up with water. She took the flowers from Spike and before putting them in the vase, smelled them. “They smell heavenly Spike! These are my favourites. How did you know to get these?” “Well they are purple your favourite colour. So I decided to take a chance.” “Well you chose well. You said you got Belgium chocolates as well?” “Yeah I asked Sugar Cube Corner to make the best chocolates they had. It turns out Belgium chocolate is the best you can get.” Rarity grabbed the box of chocolates. She opened the box. “They look divine Spike. Do you mind if I eat one now?” “Not at all” “They’re delicious Spike. Some of the best Sugar Cube Corner has produced yet.” She said sensually. Rarity put the box of chocolates down and turned her attention to Spike. “What is that smell Spike? It smells exquisite!” “That’s the new soap I’m using. It’s vanilla scented.” “You should use that soap from now on. It’s lovely. I see your spikes are combed the way I love, and your scales are sparkly. What’s the occasion?” “Well Rarity I have something I want to ask you.” Spike started to blush. Just then Rarity realized why Spike brought the chocolates and the flowers. And why he paid extra attention to the way he looked. He was going to ask her out. “Rarity will you be my special-mare?” //-------------------------------------------------------// Ending 2 I love you Spike (Part 1: Happy Ending) //-------------------------------------------------------// Ending 1 I won't accept no for an answer Song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JeI4Ft8P7ks) He had made up his mind. As he was walking to the park he decided to look at everything around him one last time. Luna had outdone herself this time. The sky was beautiful the stars were shining brightly, the moon was full. “Spike. What are you doing here at this time?” Spike ignored Rarity as he took a swig of the poison. He instantly fell unconscious. “SPIKE!” Rarity yelled at the top of her lungs. Rarity ran up to Spike. She noticed the vial of poison in Spike’s claw. She grabbed it, hoping it would help the doctor save Spike. She immediately grabbed his shoulder and put it around her. She started walking to the hospital. Rarity started to cry. She couldn’t hold her tears back. “Spike why would you do this?” She said depression and sadness in her voice. “I was going to talk to you about us. I wanted to give US a chance. Why Spike… why…” Rarity arrived at the hospital. She went through the emergency entrance. They took Spike in right away. Rarity followed them. She refused to wait in the waiting room, she needed to be with Spike. They arrived in the operating room. The doctors checked Spike’s breathing. He wasn’t breathing. Rarity started crying hard. She feared the worst. One of the doctors gave him CPR while another took some of Spike’s blood. Spike didn’t respond to CPR. The doctor then checked his pulse… there was no pulse. The doctor turned to face Rarity. He couldn’t look at her eyes. He knew the news that Spike was dead was the last thing she wanted to hear. He knew he had to tell her. “Miss Rarity… Spike… Didn’t… Make it. He passed away as soon as you arrived here. The other doctors are doing tests on his blood as we speak to find out the cause. I am… sorry to have to tell you this.” “NO! Can’t you do anything!? He can’t be dead… I need him around.” Just then, it hit Rarity. She now knew that she was in love with Spike. Her breathing slowed down, as she started to think about how her life will be from now on without Spike. She couldn’t handle it. She couldn’t live on without knowing if their possible relationship could have worked out. She thought to herself. The doctors returned with the blood test results. “Miss Rarity, it seems that Spike died of poison. The smallest amount of this poison can kill a dragon within an hour.” “Thank you doctor. Could I have a moment alone with Spike?” “Of course, just let the nurse know when you’re done.” “Thank you doctor.” “Spike how could you do this. I always knew you had a crush on me. I didn’t think you loved me enough to do… this.” Rarity said unable to control her tears. “I don’t know what to do Spike. I now know that I love you the same. I don’t know how to continue living without you in my life. It will never be the same again. You won’t be there to cheer me up when I’m feeling sad. You won’t be there to make me laugh when I need it. No more going gem hunting. No more help from you when I’m making my dresses. I’d be all alone in my Boutique now that Sweetie Belle moved back in with our parents. Spike… I don’t know… what to… do. I have to let Twilight know. She cares about you Spike. She’ll know what to do.” Rarity let the nurse know she was done and started to walk towards the library. As she was walking towards the library, she was thinking of all the good times she had with Spike. Rarity arrived at the library. She opened the door and walked upstairs to Twilight’s bedroom. “Twilight wake up!” “Who could it be at this time of the night?” Twilight said slowly as she was getting out of bed. “Rarity? What are you doing here?” “Twilight… It’s important… It’s about (gulp) Spike.” Rarity said, sadness and depression in her voice. “What happened? Where’s Spike?” Twilight said as she noticed Spike wasn’t in his bed. “Spike… is… d…dead.” “WHAT!?” “I found him at the park. He drank some poison. I carried him to the hospital. He died when I arrived. The doctors couldn’t do anything to save him.” “How could you Spike…” Tears formed around Twilight and Rarity’s eyes. “Wait here Rarity, I’m going to get the others and bring them back here.” “Alright Twilight.” While Twilight was getting the others, Rarity took out the vial of poison she hid in her tail. If I drank some of this, I could join Spike and be with him forever. But then I’d leave all my friends. Seeing how Twilight reacted to Spike’s decision to kill himself, how would she react if I did the same? And the others, how would they react? How would Sweetie take the news that her big sister killed herself? How would my parents react? I don’t care I just want to be with Spike. Anything to be with Spike… Rarity quickly hid the vial in her tail as she heard the door open. “Everybody… I have some horrible news. Just a few hours ago Rarity found Spike in the park. He drank some poison. She brought him to the hospital. The doctors told her Spike had… passed away when he got to the hospital.” Twilight said, no emotion in her voice. She was dead on the inside. “There will be a private funeral held tomorrow night. I will notify Princess Celestia.” The others unable to say anything were all crying. Twilight started writing the letter to the Princess. The others decided to stay with Twilight. She needed her friends’ support. After a few hours everyone fell asleep, except for one. Rarity. She couldn’t fall asleep. She had Spike stuck in her mind. She felt responsible for Spike’s death. She would never forgive herself for that. Never. Rarity continued to lie there thinking about Spike’s reason for his sudden death, until morning. The sunlight woke the others up. Twilight hurried to get up. She grabbed the letter and waited for Derpy. She arrived and Twilight gave her the letter and told her it was priority mail for Princess Celestia. Derpy took the letter and flew off to Canterlot. She could see in Twilight’s eyes this was an emergency. Twilight walked back into the library. “Hi guys… Derpy just came by. I gave her the letter. Princess Celestia and Princess Luna should be here within a few hours. We need to get everything ready for Spike’s funeral. “I’m so sorry about Spike Twilight. Just know we’re all here for you Twilight. If you ever need us, don’t hesitate to ask. We’ll be right over… We miss Spike too Twilight. He was friend to all of us. He was always willing to help us whenever we needed it. He never expected anything in return. He was always there for us. He was our best friend.” Applejack had trouble saying that. The others stared at Twilight. They too felt the same. They all walked to the funeral home. Just as they arrived, Princess Celestia and Luna had just arrived as well. “Greeting Twilight we are sorry to hear about Spike’s death” Princess Luna said. “I know how you feel Twilight. I have seen many ponies pass away in my lifetime. You and your friends are always welcome to visit us in Canterlot. Luna and I are here to support you as well. Princess Cadence and Shining Armor will be here later to attend the funeral.” Princess Celestia said in a friendly tone. “Thank you both Princess Celestia and Princess Luna. I need all the support I can get right now.” Everyone got ready for the funeral. They all went home to get their speeches ready. Rarity went home and put on the last dress Spike had worked on with her. She kept the vial in her tail. She made sure her tail was well hidden in her dress. She was going to make her decision at the funeral. Song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hW93CV6m-JU) It was time for the funeral. The mane 6, Princess Celestia, Princess Luna, Princess Cadence and Shining Armor were the only ones there. Twilight only wanted her closest friends there. One by one they took their turns giving their speeches. “Spike, you were the funnest friend I’ve met. You were always fun to prank. You were also the most fun dragon at parties, and you were great at cooking. You always made the best party platters and made the best punch… Parties will never be as fun, now that you’re not with us anymore.” With that Pinkie went back to her seat, her mane deflated. Applejack was the next to speak. “Spike was the best friend a pony could ask for. He was carin, he was always there for us. I’ll always remember all the times he would help Apple Bloom and the Cutie Mark Crusaders with their schemes to get their cutie marks. How he would help Big Mac and me with apple collecting on the farm. I’ll never forget you Spike. That’s a promise.” Applejack walked back to her seat. She held her hat against her heart. It was now Rainbow Dash’s turn to speak. “Spike, you were the coolest dragon I ever knew. You made everything 20% cooler just by being there… I’m sorry I can’t do this.” Rainbow Dash ran back to her seat, unable to hold back any tears. Fluttershy was next to speak. She spoke in a quiet voice. “Spike was the nicest dragon I ever met. He was always willing to help me take care of my pets when I needed help. He always gave me courage whenever I needed it. I regret dropping that bucket of water on his head. He never deserved anything bad. He only deserved the best. I will always remember you Spike as the best friend ever.” Fluttershy was crying as she walked back to her seat. Princess Celestia went next. “Spike. He was a great friend. He was delivered to me as an egg. Somepony found it in the black market. I used his egg as Twilight’s entrance exam. I even let her raise him once she hatched him. I would have never guessed back then that a dragon could be best friends with every pony. I never knew that he would have a good impact on everypony he knew. I did not even know he would have a big influence on the magic of friendship. He helped us all discover that dragons can live within pony society. I thank you for that Spike. I hope you find peace in the afterlife.” Princess Celestia gracefully walked back to her seat. Rarity was up next. Rarity walked slowly towards the podium. This is it. The big decision, she thought to herself. “Spike was more than just a friend to me. I only realized recently that I loved him back. But it was too late. I haven’t been able to think about anything else all day. I feel as though I am part of the cause of his death. I had rejected his offer. After that he never seemed to be the same. He never came back to being his usual happy self. After thinking about his offer over the next few days after that, I decided to give it a try. I decided to go for a walk to the park the night before I was going to tell him that I accepted his offer. When I arrived I found Spike. He drank some poison and instantly passed out. I ran up to him. I noticed the vial in his claw. I carried him to the hospital and went with him in the operating room. The entire time I feared the worst. And my fear came true. The doctor came up to me and told me Spike had passed away when we arrived at the hospital door, there was nothing they could do. After hearing the news, I couldn’t hold back my tears. I asked for some privacy. I talked to Spike. I was lost. I didn’t want to let him go. I needed to be with him. I knew he couldn’t hear me. But I needed to talk to him one last time. After that I ran to the library to tell Twilight the news. I stayed at Twilight’s with the others. I couldn’t sleep that night. Spike was in my mind the entire night. All I could think about is how I caused him to do what he did… Which brings me to now. I am sorry friends, but I need to do this. I can’t go on without Spike in my life.” Rarity quickly pulled out the vial from her tail and drank some of the poison. Twilight used her magic to knock the bottle out of Rarity’s hoof. But it was too late. Rarity passed out immediately. Everypony ran up to her. Twilight checked her pulse. It had stopped. They all started to cry. They couldn’t believe that they just lost another friend. Princess Celestia took the vial. It still had a little poison left in it. She used her magic to dispose of it. (end song here) Song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tUYGzZ0tQpA) “Where am I?” Rarity said, confusion in her voice. Rarity looked around. She was back in Ponyville. Everything looked familiar. There was Town Square. She could also the Carousel Boutique and Sugar Cube Corner. Thinking quickly she ran to the library. “Is this the afterlife? It must be. That means Spike is probably here. He most likely is at the library. I better hurry. I’m not going to miss my chance this time.” Rarity arrived at the library. The door was open. She walked inside and looked around. She didn’t see Spike downstairs. She ran up to Twilight’s bedroom. She opened the door and saw Spike sitting in his bed. He looked like the Spike she knew and loved. “Spike is that you?” “Rarity! What are you doing here?” “I couldn’t live on without you Spike. I thought about your offer after the day I declined. I was going to tell you the day after the night you…” “Killed myself?” “Yes Spike. I was taking a walk in the park that night to help clear my emotions in preparation for the next day. But then I noticed you there. You ignored my call and you fell unconscious a few seconds later. I ran up to you. I kept the vial with me. A day had passed by and all I could think about was you. At your funeral I decided to join you here in the afterlife. I needed to have you in my life Spike. So, without further ado. Spike I accept your offer, and I won’t accept no for an answer.” Rarity kissed Spike on the lips. Spike blushed. “You have no idea how long I’ve been waiting to hear that Rarity! I love you Rarity.” “I love you to Spike. How about we make our way to the Carousel Boutique, your new home.” “Lead the way Rarity.” THE END Author's Note: Thanks for reading.
