A Trip to Cadence's

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

Golden sunlight poured between the panes of the tall windows that graced the main hall of the Wonderbolts' estate, illuminating empty wine glasses, food-stained plates, the occasional hungover partygoer and Rarity asleep on a couch with a look of pure bliss on her face - fur matted and mane frayed. Spitfire, being used to waking up around the very crack of dawn, had just finished her breakfast and wasted no time in doing her usual off-duty routine. Which included...

...Combing her hair...

"Damn these knots..." She grumbled, trying to separate two entangled bangs of her hair with a comb and some brute force. An involuntary twitch of her muscles gave her hoof enough kinetic energy to not only break through the knot, but also push against them hard enough to give it a nasty yank. "YEOW!!"

...Take her Regumate...

"Ahh, that's the stuff..."

...Read the paper...

"So that's who Gabby Gums was. Better keep this one away from Soarin', then..."

...Check up on Soarin' after he OD'd on cake and pie last night...

Spitfire rapped her hoof on the door. "You okay in there, Soarin'?"

"Don't light a match!" He hollered groggily from inside before belching out a lungful.

"I'll take that as a yes..." The mare walked off towards Rainbow's room.

...And finally, check up on Rainbow Dash.

Spitfire quietly pushed the door to Dash's room, with just enough clearance for her to have a good look at her. A sympathetic smile curved her lips at the sight of Rainbow Dash curled tightly into a fetal position, either in comfort from her captain's reassuring words the previous night or in anxiety at the prospects of being thrust into the dark, mysterious frontier that is sex and sexual relations. It was a bit of both, actually. While she took solace on the island of Spitfire's honey-sweet words of reassurance, she still felt stranded in an ocean of sexual uncertainty, terrified of the dark side of the birds and the bees. "You are so sweet, my little Dashie..." She whispered to herself. "Just hang in there while Spitfire's with Cadence, so be a good girl now, hear?" She chuckled under her breath, gently closing the door before making her way towards the kitchen.

Hopefully Cadence knows what to do when dealing with an emotionally-repressed, sexually-frustrated mare for a mate... Ah, what am I saying? She's the Alicorn of Love, of course she knows what to do!

The captain was not in any real need to rush, but the unyielding onslaught of hormones pumping through her brain and pelvis made it feel like she was late for work and responded as such. Hastily packing her saddlebag with Bits, Regumate, a paper fan and pepper spray as she scarfed down three slices of prepackaged prench toast (a gift from the ambassador of Prance), Spitfire galloped out the main entrance with enough speed to buffet the nearby security guards, leaping straight off the landing pad and falling thirty feet before deploying her wings and gliding off towards Canterlot.

In less than half-an-hour, the alabaster spires and slender ivory minarets of Canterlot broke through the billowing white clouds, subtly mottled with patches of fresh and aged plaster; a testament to the many brutal sieges the city has endured over the centuries. Spitfire looked down below at the labyrinthine city streets below - alleyways were spotted by lone wanderers and the occasional tryst while the main streets were packed with busy bazaars, soldiers marching in formation and lively parades dedicated to Princess Mi Amore Cadenza, her banners held aloft by well-sculpted stallions draped in veritable ghillie suits of rosaries and flower chains. The mare always felt her little flower's "petals" open up a bit whenever she saw their sleek, muscular frames.

Luna almighty, I've always wanted to get ravaged by one of those studs. Bet they're packing some serious meat, too...

Her wings shifted themselves against the wind, slowing her descent as she made her approach onto Celestia's balcony. It was a good thing the palace guards were sharp-eyed enough to recognize her or she'd have been blasted out of the sky. Bolts of weaponized magic are not good for a mare's mane. With the hard clop of hooves against marble, Spitfire hopped onto the balcony, leaping down from its railing. At risk of startling the goddess of the sun itself, the Wonderbolt tapped a few times on the crystalline glass of its Art Nouveau-style door, falling onto the marble rump-first as she waited. Her ears perked up as she heard increasingly loud hoofsteps from within, punctuated with a long pause and terminating with the door opening to reveal her royal equine majesty.

"Spitfire?" She gasped, the same way the Wonderbolt did at the sight of the many hair-curlers in her mane. "W-what are you doing here?"

Spitfire stood up, raising her rear. "Do you know where Cadence is? Rainbow Dash needs help and only she can help us out."

Celestia frowned. "I take it that you two are in love, huh?" The pegasus nodded, her ears folded. The princess gave an exasperated sigh as her response. "I'm not too comfortable with an Element of Harmony having a love interest, especially another mare..."

"Princess, you gotta stop living in the past," Said Spitfire, bluntly. "Homosexuality is a natural thing and our population is more than secure enough to accommodate a few dozen or hundred non-reproducing couples."

Celestia sighed once more. "It just seems...odd to me, that's all."

"You'll get used to it," The captain smiled reassuringly, the princess smiling back in response. "So where's Cadence?"

Celestia turned to her right and pointed a hoof towards a tall, slender white spire capped with a green copper roof. "She's in that tower right over there on Third Avenue next to the Saddle Arabian embassy on the top floor, can't miss it."

Spitfire leapt onto the railing and flared her wings. "Thanks, Celestia! Gotta fly!" And with that, she took off, soaring towards the tower, flapping her feathered friends against an inconveniently-directed wind current. "Whoa whoa whoa!!" She cried, soon regaining control. "Phew!"

I just hope I'm not interrupting anything...provocative...
