A/N:

Sorry to you all for this horrible delay. I became ill and was totally not in the mood of writing at all.

Additionally I have the task to create music for two albums at least.

And if this wasn't enough, I had, and still have, a bunch of important exams till Christmas and afterwards.

Thank you all for your patience.

I woke up to a series of pokes, urging me to open my eyes. When I did, it was just to stare back at myself. Or more accurately, the real Torrent.

"Jay, right? Cool." She said briskly. I stared at her with an expression of curiosity, which might have looked kind of odd. Two ponies looking the exact same staring at each other. After a while I broke the silence.

"What am I doing here?" I wanted to know.

"This here is the dreamland, of sorts. Sounds lame, I know, but who cares..." She said dismissively. "It's the only place where we can meet until we totally fuse."

"Fuse? What does that mean?" I asked, more than a little spooked by the phrase.

"I'm sure you already noticed some strange behavior patterns." She said, not meeting my gaze.

I nodded. "Well, when we fuse, that will mean to you... that you will become more like me, maybe even completely me, depending on the situation."

She felt another question incoming, but waved it off. "C'mon, since you represent my coolness out there, you gotta know some tricks. To show them who's boss!"

I hesitated. Doubtful I was, for sure. As well as suspicious of her sudden deflection. "Isn't 'boss' a bit far fetched?"

Laughing she shook her head. "Not in the slightest. There is only one pony who can beat me, and always beat me," She bragged, perhaps a bit overstating. "And that is nopony other than Rainbow Dash. Ever since flight school l, she beat me in every single race. Even when she had been sick."

The mention of the element of loyalty removed all my suspicious and doubts and replaced them with awe. "You...I know Rainbow Dash?"

Her head bounced up and down in a rhythm far too fast for me to believe it was possible, but hey... I'm a pony, so... "Of course I... we know her. In flight school we were in the same class. You should have access to my memories, so just look it up."

It was true, all of it. First of all, I had access to Torrent's memories, which slowly became mine. Secondly I looked up all "little filly memories" Torrent had. Torrent gave me a memory to look at. Three fillies were seen on it, on the left, Rainbow Dash, on the right, another filly, that I recognized at Dirty Bass, or just DB, and in the middle, Torrent, grinning widely and having wrapped her wings around her two new friends.

With a tear in my eyes, I remembered the day we had to separate soon afterwards. My parents decided to move out of Cloudsdale and to the ground, to a small village named Vergetown on the top of a cliff aptly named "The Verge". A nice village with not more than two hundered ponies inhabiting it. Only two families there were pegasi, mine and the family of my only friend in that town, a filly named Aqua Flash, who wasn't as into flying around as I was.

Oww... my head. Too many foreign memories invading my brain. The weirdest thing was, they even made sense, like if they actually were mine. Torrent's ever consisting smile faltered and she actually frowned.

“I'm sorry, Jay. I'm sorry that I pulled you into this mess.” I dried her eyes with my wingtips and embraced her in a warm and well-meant hug. “You don't have to be sorry. To be honest, I'm kinda enjoying your body so far.”

I blushed and she laughed at my embarrassment.

"I didn't mean..." I start.

"Listen, no need to talk about it, but we are becoming the same person so I'm not going to be freaked out if you get a life. Or a stallion." She said with a smirk.

I wasn't sure what to say but she wasn't done with her instructions.

"But no fillies, like at all! Friends are okay, but I don't want to see my name ruined as a fillyfooler."

I just stared at her in surprise at her ramblings. "You act like you don't care about being extinguished." I decided to point out.

"Ah, I won't die, if you fear that. I'll merge with you and be you at the same time as you are being me. There will be no you and me later, it will be a we and then an I. We will be one entity." My head totally spun out of confusion and that was something very new for me.

"Yeah, I know, too much egghead talk as Rainbow would say." She said.

Something was bothering me and I knew I had to get an answer. "Torrent? I want to ask you something very direct. Are you as intelligent as I am?"

She was completely taken aback and sighed loudly. "I hoped you would just want to know about how awesome I am." Again another sigh.

"Listen, don't go around telling everypony, but I've got a degree." Once more she sighed. "I... I went to Cloudsdale University and got an associates degree in weather control... there I said it, I'm a major egghead. Rainbow would have a field day. "

I responded with a hearty laugh. "To be honest, I was worried that there would be a mismatch in our intelligence and it'd cause problems."

She waved with her hoof. "A change of dimensions like this would not have been possible, if I were too different from you." Then she grabbed me tight on my withers. "Please. Don't tell anypony I have a degree. I'd lose all of my coolness and reputation. Please!" She begged.

"Okay." I replied hesitantly. "But I don't think being a educated is something to be ashamed of." Torrent shook me once again.

"That may be so, but I don't want to be known as an egghead to my friends. I am an awesome flyer and racer." I nodded and hugged her.

"Care to tell me more about my history?" I asked as I embraced her. She shrugged and brought up another memory in which I, as a little filly, stood proudly pointing at my cutie mark, the waterdrop surrounded by flames. "I'm starting to remember..." As if a dark cloud lifted itself from my mind, Torrent's memories flooded into my brain.

My family had just moved to Vergetown, when the mayor came by and greeted us. After the formalities were exchanged the mayor informed us how glad he was, that this town got another pegasus family. He told us that the last weatherpony had passed away shortly before our arrival, so he asked us if any of our family could take his place. Sadly my parents and my big sister had to shake their head. The mayor had been ready to leave when I decided on a whim that I could try my wings at it.

"I'll do it, sir!" He had been surprised, but weather ponies often started young, so he asked me if I had any experience. I used my grades in basic weather control to convince him to give me a shot.

Soon I was one of Equestria's youngest official weather team leaders. The first days were rather relaxing for me since I was the only weather pony, but soon enough a huge storm came over from the sea. All I could do was to warn the ponies to stay at home while I fought the storm to wear it down.

That was when I spotted a little filly on the town square, too scared to move. When I approached her, I felt something strange behind me. Immediately I recognized that feeling as the electric building up to create a bolt of lightning.

There wasn't anything around for it to hit but the filly. Without thinking I flew right in front of her and the lightning struck me instead. The lightning hit me and I acted as a lightening rod, my wings fanning the burst of energy out into the air around me. Wide eyed the filly just stared at me, even after I had recovered and delivered her to her parents. Not until my parents pointed it out to me, did I realize I had gained my cutie mark.

As in the words of my friend Noble Rambling, "This mark represents the passion you had in saving this little filly, that you even risked you own life for the sake of her's"
