Chapters Discord sat beside Princess Celestia as she rose the sun. He would wake up early every single morning to watch her raise the sun as he did since they met. They would play outside in the Palace courts and watch as the moon shined on the grounds of Canterlot. They had been close friends for a very long time.
when they met
They met at a blossom tree in the middle of spring one dawn, he saw the sun slowly levitate to the sky creating a distant orange glow in the atmosphere. He hid behind a rose bush, in a trance. Celestia turned and spotted the odd looking creature lurking in the roses, she smiled sweetly "You don't have to hide from me." Discord slowly lifted from his position and ruffled his mane with red cheeks, he stuttered on his words "Uh, I'm sorry if i startled you. I couldn't help but watch as you lifted the sun, it's beautiful." He sat beside the young filly and they started conversing. "I'm Princess Celestia. May I ask your name?" Discord's eyes glinted "Your Princess Celestia...Oh my what an honor to meet you, I'm Discord" They both smiled and watched the sun as the morning approached.
When morning finally came Celestia stood up and tilted her head smiling "I have to go back to the Palace, shall we meet here again? I'm lowering the sun, it would be nice to see you there." Discord replied gently "It would be a pleasure, I'll be there." Celestia trotted off leaving a blushing Ali-corn behind her. When Celestia returned home she awaited in the towers watching Equestria shine with beauty. Her Father appeared behind her "You did a wonderful job my dear." he said as he wrapped his wings around her. She lifted her head up to look at her father before replying "It's beautiful, because of friendship." She giggled. The king was surprised "Oh, who may your friend be?" he questioned, "His name's Discord, he watched as I lifted the sun in the air." Her father looked at her in disapointment "What have I told you about talking to strangers! You play an important role for the lands of Equestria, if something were to happen, these lands wouldn't be able to exist." He shouted. The Princess bowed her head in sorrow with a sad expression on her face "Ok." she whimpered.
That day, Celestia approached her mother. "Mother, why am I not allowed to make friends?" Her mother turned her head to see a sad filly "Oh dear, you can make friends. You need to stay safe for the sake of Equestria." She turned back to what she was doing Celestia looked up at her "Then why does father get so angry?" Her mother turned around once again "He is protective, you are the only one who has the power to raise the sun, he only wants the best for you. He's not doing it out of meanness."
At 7 o'clock in the evening she went back to the blossom tree to let the sun rest for the night. She looked around, but couldn't see Discord..."He didn't show up." She sighed. Before Setting the sun a lions paw rested on her shoulder she looked up to see the smile of Discord, her eyes lit up "You thought I wouldn't show up didn't you?" He smiled and sat beside her like they did that morning. The sun then was setting due to the magic of Celestia's horn, "I told my parents I met a new friend today" she looked down at the ground with tears in her eyes. Discord lifted her head and turned it towards him, he wiped her tears and looked at her with a confused look on his face "Why cry? That's a good thing right?" She looked at him in a daze "I thought that to, but father shouted at me he told me I need to be careful, and that I shouldn't talk to strangers" she sighed. Discord looked longingly into her eyes and wrapped his arms around her "Well your safe with me, and I'm not a stranger no more, I'm your friend."
Friends forever
Over the past several Months Discord and Celestia would meet up every dawn and every evening to watch the sun lift and set. One day Celestia turned to Discord "Would you like to play at the palace?" Discord looked at her "Would your parents be ok with that?" Celestia paused for a few moments before answering "They are away on duty for a few days, so it's fine" The both stood up and walked to the palace. They played tag and sat on the tree swing next to the Harmony pond within the Courts. Discord looked at his reflection in the water. he put his paw on his face and traced the features "I look funny, don't I?" Celestia perked up "No! You look perfect don't be so silly" she smiled Discord turned slightly, to the perfect Mare in front of him "Oh don't be silly. Look at me, compared to you, I'm far from perfect." She blushed ever so elegantly her coat was pale and her hair cotton candy pink, her eyes were a light purple, but her blushing made her cheeks so rosy and looked so warm. She was perfect in the eyes of Discord. "Well you may think that, but I personally think your perfect" she giggled.
It was coming up to sun set time, so they went to the blossom tree and repeated the process of setting the sun and talking to one another for hours till it was time for Celestia to rest her weary head. "Discord?" she questioned. Discord looked at her and replied "Yes, what do you want?" he said calmly. She rested her head on his shoulder and said quietly "We are best friends forever aren't we?" Before he could answer she fell asleep and there he sat till the morning came.
With each passing year of the pair, they grew and learned many things about each other. Even after all these years passing they would still meet to lift and set the sun together. Discord could still remember that time when he first wrapped his arms around Celestia and that time she feel asleep on his shoulder. It's been several years since then and yet they still have a close relationship.
Blooming
Discord would go around Canterlot with Celestia, in fact there was nowhere they didn't go together. One time Last year Princess Celestia became sick with a simple cold, but Discord would come round even though her parents would disagree with him even knowing their daughter, despite that he would come to the palace and bring her flowers freshly picked and bring cakes from Sweet Apple Acres, she told him she loved the owners Cakes. So he knew that would cheer her up, and it did. He worried all the time for Celestia he cared for her so much. Truth being He was in love.
"Princess!" Discord shouted in Canterlot Park, Celestia turned "Discord! Is that you?" They ran to each other it had be a few weeks since they met last, Celestia had to go away on duty for awhile, Discord was delighted to see her. He wrapped his arms around her and spun in glee "The one and only." He smiled and continued "How was the trip?" as they walked she replied "It was ok. I missed you a lot though we really need to catch up, how about a pick-nick up at Canterlot Hills?" Discord looked at her and laughed "Of course. I would love to do that." Celestia Skipped around, other ponies noticed the odd pair and gave dirty looks, but they didn't care they were best friends forever and nothing could come between them "Yeah, meet at 7 pm I can set the sun as well." Celestia galloped back to the Castle to get ready, and Discord went to the shop to buy a few treats and a gift.
Half an hour before the designated time of meeting came, Discord arrived to Canterlot Hills, he stared at the gifts with a grin on his face, "I hope she likes them." he muttered he watched the sun and in his eyes, he saw the image of Celestia, he looked back down at his body "She wouldn't love this. I'm hideous, why does she find me perfect? Is she lying to me?" He said in his mind. It was 7 o'clock the sent of sweets passed by into the nose of Discord he turned and stood up to the beauty of Celestia she had tied her hair back into a pony tail with a white ribbon and had a sweet perfumey scent to her. As they sat down, Discord handed her two presents "Uh I hope you like them I saw them and thought of you." She unwrapped the gifts, one was a locket necklace the shape of the sun and the other was a picture frame the picture inside was one taken at the blossom tree when they were fillies. "Oh Discord they are wonderful, thank you so much. You didn't have to you know" She laughed softly. They sat together with heads close together as Celestia set the sun. The stars twinkled and the moon shined upon them.
When their time was nearly up Discord stood and put out his Paw out,he lifted Celestia up and they walked back towards the castle "Your going to be late your self you know." She said. Discord shrugged his shoulders "I want to make sure your home safe and sound." they both blushed and continued walking, When they went past the Blossom tree where they had first met Celestia stopped. Discord turned back and looked at her with an eyebrow raised "Is something the matter?" she shook her head Discord walked up towards the mare and got down to her level "You sur..." before he could finish Celestia had pressed her mouth against his. Their cheeks became red, at first Discords eyes burst wide open in surprise but he relaxed and held her close to his chest when they parted they put their foreheads together creating a heart shape, their eyes lingered in each others Celestia looked up slowly and smiled gently, Discord bent down and whispered softly in her ears "I love you Celestia." Her ears perked up and she moved back just to see his eyes "And I love you." They slowly came back to reality and walked close as Discord wrapped his wing around her to keep her warm.
They eventually came to the Kingdoms gates, Discord looked at her and gave her a cute side smile one that she always giggle at "I guess this is good bye for tonight."He said. Celestia pressed her self against him and said "Only for tonight we should do this again." Discord held her close and kissed her cheek "Goodnight" He said softly. Celestia smiled and replied "Good night...Discord." She walked into the kingdom locking the gates behind her.
And that's were the love story begins.
Imperfect Perfection
"Did that really happen?...Did I tell her?" Discord said whilst still in a trance the next day. He looked at the dusty mantle piece, sitting on it was a picture frame, of him and Celestia he smiled and gave out a howl of excitement. "I told oh my....I actually told her!" That morning he rushed down to the blossom tree. There she was the magnificent Princess, Sitting with beauty radiating off of her delicate coat. Discord sat by her side "Good morning." he smiled. Celestia jumped from surprise "You startled me." she giggled. Discord sniggered "Sorry, it's a bad habit." Celestia looked up at Discord and gave him a simple yet amazing smile. "Last night....was....out of this world." She giggled Discord did the same "I know I was there." he replied sarcastically. Celestia kissed him lightly on the cheek and sighed "The suns going to be more beautiful than ever before because of you." Discord was puzzled "How so?" He questioned. "Well that kiss, those words...I've been thinking about it since." She blushed Discord pulled her closer and turned her face gently with his paw "I've been doing the same." He smiled. They both lent into each other, their eyes perfectly shut as their lips touched. Sparks went flying.
"This is love, I finally know what it feels like for someone to love me." Discord thought. In Celestia's mind these words were going through "This is what its like...to feel...to touch...Discord." They parted and rubbed their noses together, Celestia didn't care what other ponies would think, she was in love, her heart refused to change. "I've never told you this Celestia. You're Beautiful." Discord stammered. Celestia started to blush uncontrollably "And your handsome. I don't care what you say about your self." She whispered "because you're wrong. Your perfect to me." She added.
The sun was rising slowly as the couple rested there heads on each other. The sun was shining creating that same orange atmosphere as it had always done but this time, this was a symbol to them of true love. This sun caused their meeting and becoming friends; this sun was the one they played in and watched; this was the same sun they set the one that brought them to a kiss. This shows that it doesn't matter on appearance whether you seem to be hard-featured or beautiful. Love is something the heart desires therefore it's only the two of you and this means it doesn't matter about anything as long as your in each others arms you are happy.
Truth be told
For the next few weeks, they would walk around Canterlot Discord would have his wing around Celestia's waist. They would cuddle up on the benches, pick petunias together and share kisses and the words "I love you." To each other. They were happy; nothing could come between how they felt. They were closer than ever. This was there secret they would express in public but never told Celestia's parents. Until now; Celestia and Discord sat at Canterlot Hills were they had done previously "Discord, I've decided to tell my parents." Celestia insisted, Discord sighed gently but sweetly "If that's what you want to do." he then added "But how would your parents react?" Celestia pondered with a discombobulated Discord by her side, he was thinking to him self "Why would she want to tell her parents? They don't even approve our friendship or even being acquainted with each other." Celestia shook her head slightly "I'm sure it will be fine." she smiled, this was reassuring for Discord.
The next morning, up where the blossom tree grew Celestia sat and waited. Discord joined her a few moments later. The sun was already risen, which was odd because normally they would do that together. Celestia took Discords paw and started sobbing before finally speaking "My parents are locking me away." Discords eyes widened with sadness. He knew her parents would disapprove of their relationship. "Why?" Discord question had a sobbing ring behind it. "They classify you as a monster to society, and you should not be allowed to be acquainted with a princess." She bursted out into tears. Tears streamed down her delicate cheeks. Never had Discord seen her cry this hard, she was always happy. It was devastating to see her act so perculier; it was unknown for him to see her sad. Celestia stood up slowly; face all wet from tears she kissed Discord one last time and said the words he was scared of hearing "Sorry...this is goodbye." She tried to walk away but Discord grabbed hold of her and spun her round and held her close. "This will never be a goodbye....I love you." Her tears started all over again "Discord we can't...I love you so much but I need to do as my parents wish...I'm sorry." She walked away leaving a saddened creature with his head hidden in his arms.
It was mid day the sun was shining in the sky like it did everyday but this time it was dimmer than it was before or so it seemed. Discord looked up slowly, his frown became a grin, and his sad eyes became wide. He muttered under his breath "Chaos." He got up slowly and stormed off into the distance.
Journey
Two roads, Two very different individuals. These two were once in love, and still are. But Discord changed.
Discord sat at the hill where he went with Celestia he felt pain but gave out a cackle. He knew he was made for something he thought it would be to be with the princess, now tables turned he was born for creating havoc across the nation. He wanted revenge so he turned his back on the kingdom to show how powerful he is and "No." is not an answer. After weeks of practicing the skills of suffering.
Celestia stood by her window pondering on what Discord was up to. She wasn't prepared for what was about to happen.
Celestia fell to the ground clutching the photo frame Discord kindly gave her. "This can't be the same Ali-corn.....it can't be. He's not like this." Tears were accumulating in her eyes. The love of her life was a monster...and she had no way of preventing it. "Oh my, what pleasure. Why hadn't I discovered this before? It's priceless" Discord laughed. His eyes widened as he shot out his arms in pure enthusiasm and made buildings levitate in the air causing ponies to be thrown about. All the ponies in Equestria became terrified and left the area for a safe less chaotic environment. As the king and queen were unable to support the thrown. Discord settled down and put a crown upon his head "And there I am...King of Chaos!" He shouted within the Castle. Celestia down flights of stairs and ran through labyrinths of hall ways. Following the rawer of Discords voice. With tears running down her face and legs going as fast as she could she shouted "Discord! STOP!"
The tears stopped flowing from Celestia's eyes. She grew angry, how could the one she loved most become the monster she has witnessed. She bursted through the doors of where Discord sat proudly on 'his' throne. "Oh Celestia, I see you have seen my creations, isn't it just fantastic!" He sniggered. Celestia's eyes grew sharp and angry "How could you do this? What happened to the Discord I knew and loved?" she shouted. A grin appeared on Discords face, he got up and paced around the princess looking down at her every now and then "Oh him, he went long ago. Discord is all about bringing chaos to the world, c'mon wheres your sense of humor?" Celestia followed his eyes with a turned up look on her face. Her heart was Blistering with the presents of Discord. "Humor! You find this funny? You're disgusting!" she bursted.
It was like she was looking at a stranger, she was scared. Her father warned her and she refused to listen. Her heart was calling for Discord, she listened to her heart and ignored the warnings. "I thought I had missed you I thought I was in love with you. Now I can't stand the sight of you! Your a monster!" she screamed across the room. He turned with a angry expression on his face and ran towards her "I'm the monster! It's your fault. I don't care if I'm a monster! You broke my heart I'm only getting my revenge!" he snarled. That moment it was as if time has stopped. Celestia's heart pounded and suddenly stopped. "My fault?" She thought.
She shoved him back approaching closely getting right into his face pushing him against the walls. "My fault. I was in love Discord! It wasn't me who said no; it was my parents. I would give the world to you to be with you" Discord raised an eyebrow "Well I already have the world." He said as he pressed his claw against her chest nudging her away. "Now if you need me I will be somewhere creating some beautiful chaos!" Then he vanished, leaving a broken hearted mare in the Throne chambers.
The world was literally flipped upside down, due to Discords reign over the entire land of Equestria. Celestia remembered her father talking to her about the Elements Of Harmony, he said "Use the Elements of Harmony when Equestria is in danger" She ran to the location of the Elements of harmony, when she retrieved them she went out to the palace courts and waited by the Harmony pond.
She looked at her reflection, the past reflected into the waters. The swing they sat on was covered in Ivy. All the images of them together the things he said to her. "Your safe with me, I'm not a stranger I'm a friend."; "Oh don't be silly. Look at me, compared to you, I'm far from perfect.""I love you Celestia."; I've never told you this Celestia. You're Beautiful."
"I suppose in away it's my fault. We were happy before this. I guess I was naive. But I love you" She whispered. Out of all the power Discord had, he didn't hurt her he left her unharmed. She looked down at the Elements in here hooves. "I'm sorry." she muttered. Discord appeared behind her "Sorry about what" He questioned harshly. Celestia turned slowly and replied "My heart may be weak because of you broke it but I can still fight." Discord looked intreged "Oh then show me, prove to me you can defeat me. I too have a broken heart, but I feel no pain. Revenge is all I can think of, and I enjoy it's company" he smirked while saying.
"It's a shame that it had to be this way and I'm sorry that those words weren't enough." She bowed her head and lifted the Elements up. She shut her eyes and said "I love you." Discord's eyes softened slightly A ray of light was emitted from the Elements Discords body started hardening turning into stone the lasts words he said was "I love you Celestia." It was too late. Celestia's words broke the curse slightly and let his heart be true to it's self. There it stood a statue of Discord. The Chaos that loomed over head vanished. Celestia started to cry softly she said to her self while curled up beneithe the statue "Good bye, but this is for the best." She went to sleep peacefully knowing she knew Discord still loved her.
