Before this story can begin, you the reader must understand why.
The story of Equestria is well known, the Earth ponies, Unicorns, and Pegasi froming a land based on peace and equality. It's a heartwarming and often told story.
And that is how it happened, the story hasn't changed, Equestria is still a land formed on equality between the three groups.
But what about the Alicorns?
The alicorn raises questions, the alicorn is not a naturally occuring creature.
There are 2 alicorns in Equestria, and they rule the day and the night. Celestia raises the sun and Luna raises the moon.
But do they have other, exceptional powers?
Indeed, this question came to the citzens of Canterlot during the wedding of Cadence and Shining Armor, when the Chrysalis Queen was able to defeat Celestia.
The rumor began to spread of Celestia's loss of power or even a lack of power.
From her tower Celestia heard these rumors.
The next day throughout Canterlot there were flyers reading:
PUBLIC DISCUSSION OF A WEAKENED CELESTIA IS CONSIDERED TREASON AND IS PUNISHABLE
Of course this only fed the fire, they couldn't talk about it in public but in the dark of houses in night the rumors were stronger than ever.
There was liitle tension in Canterlot, but suspicion ran amok.
And Celestia watched.
Little is known about the seas to the East. The trade is rich but few know about the layout of the land or the people there, trade is done through ships bearing Celestia on the flag, less an egotistic brand more a show of power.
There wasn't enough of that for Celestia anymore.
