Angles on the Field

"Okay you two step into the chamber slowly" Celestia spoke from behind the glass window as their friends watched. Dash and Fluttershy got into the large round container. Celestia nodded at the pony behind the control panel and hstarted the test that had failed numerous times before. There were some clicks and beeps and they saw a line start forming and spinning around the chamber. Fluttershy let out a small squeal as a bright light came from the chamber. When it faded nothing changed they hadn't gone anywhere. The chamber opened and the two walked out.

"Well that was a bust" Dash said.

"Yea it was" Fluttershy said she looked happy to be out of the chamber. Dash had made her go in with her because even though she wouldn't show it, she two was a little nervous. Celestia gave a sigh. They had been working on it all day but to no avail. She even went through the trouble of personally sending all of them an invite to Canterlot. Nothing they could do worked. She opened the door and let the two walk inside.

"I don't think it is going to work" Dash said to Celestia. It seemed as she said that a pony walked through the door and counterd that theory.

"Celestia we found the problem. All the mechanical structures were sound but we didn't have a target."

"Then lets run it again you two will choose the target." Celestia said as she walked to the glowing panel that had many objects pull up as she looked for a target.

"Okay" Dash said as she walked over to the panel followed by Fluttershy.

“Oooo look at all these options. We have all these dates. September 4, 1862. December 7th 1941, June 6th 1944, September 11th 2001... “She read threw some of the dates until Celestia stopped her.

"Let’s just choose the first one. September 4th 1862, location united States, Okay girls get into the chamber."

The two walked back into the chamber. Celestia nodded to Dash who looked like nothing was wrong, but on the inside she was a little uncertain how this would go down. She nodded back and Celestia had started the test. The Chamber began to shake more and more rapidly as a light grew intensely. Dash had to shield her eyes so she wouldn't be blinded. The two felt like they were lifted off their feet everything was bright and then they felt something under them... grass.

It had worked but now the two felt different. Dash opened her eyes and looked at her hoofs. They were the sky blue they usually were... They were tan and she didn't have a tail but her wings remained on her back. She looked over to Fluttershy who was standing right next to her. She two was tan and had no tail, but her hair color was still light pink as always. Her hair also stayed its rainbow color. The two inspected the area around them. There was movement a line of what seemed to be people walking over a rising hill, they wore blue. They seemed to be covered in clothes they didn't know how they got there, and they didn't care they just started walking over to the line of people in Blue.

A man walked out in front of the men who held wooden poled with metal near the tip and all across the top. He walked to them and the two stopped.

"Who are you two...? What are you two?!?!

Dash looked over to her friend and then back to him, he wore a cowboy hat like the one Applejack wore but only this on was blue, like his overcoat. She spoke unsure where they were.

"I'm Dash and this is my friend Shy. Um can I ask you a question? "

The man in blue looked at her inspecting what she looked like. "Yes ask away."

"Where are we?" Dash spoke looking around.

"Well, we are outside of Sharpsburg my friend fighting the Antietam Campaign and I would like to know why you two are here."

"Well we were transported from Canterlot. But if you guys are fighting can I help??" Dash said excited to hear something in this new world might be a little more exciting than talking to a man in Blue.

The man was shocked at what he heard her say. "Where in the Devils name is Canterlot... you know what never mind, but no you can’t fight. We need men to fight this was not women... or whatever you are."

Dash grew angry and turned to her friend. Fluttershy spoke her voice quiet and soft as always.

"W-well sir umm what war are we in, and is there any way we can help??”

He looked at the two. "Miss we are in the Civil War and we have a lack of doctors so I think you two can help there but... hide those wings on your back they may draw attention. Dash had forgotten about her wings and turned her head so she could see them. They were white and were slightly taller than her head and went down to her knees. They were huge but they felt the same as her other ones.

"O-okay I guess we can help there.” The man got two blue overcoats and put them around the two so they could hide their wings and walked them to the medical tent. He spoke to a man dressed in a white coat; he looked over at them and nodded.

The man in blue returned to them. "Okay you two he agreed to let you work here but don't show anyone your wings or someone might overreact." The two realized at that moment that no one else had wings like them they stood out like sore thumbs. They did there best to hide them that day and then a thunder roared in the distance. Dash looked over to where the sound came from and left the medical tent. She walked onto a nearby hill about 20 meters from the tent. When she reached the rounded top she saw an open field filled with men in blue and grey. They had their poles and they poles shot out grey clouds but when they shout out the clouds men on the other side would fall... They were shooting each other with rifles not poles. They were different from any rifle in Equestria. Longer and less efficient but from her surroundings it looked like it was applicable for this time. She went back into the tent and brought Fluttershy to a corner of the tent.

She whispered into her ear "We need to get out of here. I don't have a good feeling about this and if we stay any longer then I`m worried on of us won’t make it back to Equestria.
