Pierce the Netherscape: Enter Oblivion
2: The Longhunter and the Hunted

Princess Celestia was sitting in her throne room reading Twilight’s most recent letter. Suddenly, the doors on the far side of the room swung open and a rush of cold air flew in. “What is the meaning of this?” asked Celestia. “Show yourself, intruder!”
Just then, The Campaigner, a barbarian-like human with gold armor (Boss image: https://encrypted-tbn2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQ9KE96UnHPo7SjRva-3t4lbrojPvPa79oOsCy7gUbaunkZuL1A) , and The Primagen (Boss image: https://encrypted-tbn3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTQjcBEA0VC24VPNQSLLYpOtQ-\_j0xzUFrTngLzPjLfIssx6tRteA) , a large, gray alien with four tentacles on his back, one hand and two pincer-like limbs, walked in. “I believe we are the ones you are asking for,” said The Campaigner. “Now you have five seconds to get out of this castle before we destroy you.”
“You dare to challenge me?” asked Celestia, enraged. “Who do you think you are?”
“We are the minions of Oblivion,” replied The Primagen. “An entity of infinite power who will conquer the Omniverse. And we’re starting with Equestria.”
“I will not allow that,” replied Celestia. “I will protect my subjects.” She then charged toward the two, but was suddenly knocked back by an invisible force. “What was that?” asked Celestia, getting back up.
“I am Oblivion,” said Oblivion in his dark, raspy voice. “You cannot defeat me. I am eternal. I exist outside the forces of both good and evil. My physical form may be trapped in the Netherscape, still, but my power is able to enter other dimensions like your’s. Now, I will show you a taste of my power.”
Suddenly, Celestia was flung out the window by Oblivion and landed right in the middle of the Everfree forest. “That kind of sucks,” said the Campaigner. “I was really hoping to see what kind of power that alicorn had.”
“It doesn’t matter,” said the Primagen. “The less opposition we have, the closer we can get to the Well. Now, let’s get looking for the Elements.”
Meanwhile, Rei Sonkei, Colorshy, and Blue Jay were trying to make their way through the forest. “For the love of God, Blue,” said Rei, “you need to have some kind of ranged weapon.”
“For the last time,” replied Blue Jay, “I am perfectly fine using concealed, extendable hoof blades! NOW STOP PESTERING ME!”
After a long silence, Colershy spoke up. “Blue,” he said, “if you just want to stick to a close range weapon, you can still have a shotgun. That’s close range and it has great damage.”
“But you can’t fight a Changeling in a high-speed air battle with a heavy shotgun. My decision remains.”
The three walked in silence for a long time, then Rei broke the silence. “Quick question, guys, why are we walking? We’re all pegasi.” He then flew up above the trees, not noticing the falling Princess Celestia coming toward him. “I’m just gonna try to find where Ponyville is, then we can work fro- GAHH!” At that moment, Celetia crashed directly into Rei and slammed into the ground before the others.
“HOLY CRAP!” shouted Colorshy. “CELESTIA KILLED REI!”
“I’m not dead,” said Rei as he crawled out from under Celestia.
“Dude,” said Blue Jay, “you have no idea how many neckbeards would rather be in your position, right now.”
“Save it, let’s just see if Celestia’s OK. Something powerful had to attack her to throw her this far from Canterlot.” He walked up close to Celestia and tapped her gently. “Princess? Are you alive?”
Princess Celestia slowly opened her eyes to find herself staring back at Rei. She jumped back quickly and readied herself for defense. As she did this, Colorshy and Blue Jay readied their weapons.
“Woah! Hold your fire, everypony!” shouted Rei waving his hooves in the air. Colorshy and Blue Jay slowly lowered their weapons while Celestia relaxed. “There, see? Panicked fire is never the answer. Now,” Rei turned to Celestia and bowed, indicating for the other two to do the same. “What happened, Princess?”
“I was attacked by these two creatures who called themselves The Campaigner and The Primagen,” she replied. “Then I was thrown out of my throne room by an unseen force that called itself ‘Oblivion.’”
“Hmm...” Rei stood there thinking for a moment. “Oblivion must be what we ended up releasing, but I never knew The Campaigner and The Primagen were working with him. There’s some real shit going down, this time around. Princess, we will battle Oblivion to stop whatever he has planned and retake Canterlot for you.”
“Hey,” said Blue Jay, “has anypony else noticed that this story is jumping through its plot, quickly?”
“Blue,” said Rei through gritted teeth, “I told you we weren’t going to break the 4th wall anymore. But you do have a point, we are going to fight this chapter’s boss in about a minute.”
Just then, the four heard what sounded like motors headed their way. As they turned, they saw the two grey battle Hummers crash through the trees behind them. “EVERYPONY, DIVE!” shouted Rei, grabbing Celestia and diving to the left while the others dived to the right. Rei quickly got up and started shooting at the Hummers with his AK-47, which actually proved effective as several bullets hit the tires of one Hummer while more bullets blasted through the windshield of the other. Both Hummers crashed into each other and exploded. They then turned into clouds of dark smoke and retreated into the trees.
“Is everypony ok?” asked Colorshy.
“I’m fine,” replied Celestia. “Would somepony mind telling me what’s going on here?”
“Oblivion is sending one of his minions to make sure you are dead,” replied Rei. “and from the looks of it, he knows we’re here, as well. We need to get to Canterlot and stop him, fast.”
“Hey!” shouted a voice from behind where the Hummers vanished. Then, a human carrying an energy rifle walked out.
“Oh sweet lord, I know who you are,” shouted Rei.
“I am the Longhunter (Boss image: http://i2.ytimg.com/vi/u2JI9ulq6DE/2.jpg) (blame the “Let’s Play” makers for the crappy screenshot) . I was sent by The Campaigner to stop you ponies from reaching Canterlot, where he plans to find the Elements of Harmony to open a Dimensional Rift, allowing his master, Oblivion, to enter your plane of existence.”
“So that’s why Oblivion wants Canterlot. So he can start in the most harmonious dimension in the Omniverse, causing the Omniversal balance to shift dramatically, making his rise back to power easier... well played.”
“Silence, small winged horse. Prepare to die!”
“Watch out everypony, this is no ordinary human. Avoid his energy boomerangs and keep your distance if you can. Whatever you do, just keep shooting. Attack!”
The four then flew into different directions, all with their weapons drawn (except Celestia, who had enough weirdness for one day and hid behind a tree). The Longhunter tried to focus his fire on Celestia, but he kept getting bombarded by bullets from Rei and Colorshy. He was taking several hits, but he had some kind of magic shield that kept him from dying quickly. After quickly realizing that he can’t attack Celestia, he turned his attention to the other three and fired at them with his pulse rifle, which had a rate of fire similar to Rei’s AK-47 but with orbs of powerful plasma energy. As powerful as his weapon was, it’s rate of fire and accuracy were no match for a trio of pegasi who kept zipping by, giving blow after blow to him. Then, he decided to change tactics and fire his homing plasma boomerangs. Two of his boomerangs hit Rei and Colorshy, knocking downing them, quickly, but Blue Jay avoided the three boomerangs headed his way and charged The Longhunter. The Longhunter had almost no time to react before he was knocked to the ground by Blue Jay’s hoof blades. He was on the ground, stunned, and could only watch as Blue Jay stood over him and prepared to give the final blow, which was a quick slash to The Longhunter’s neck. In an instant, the battle was over and The Longhunter was dead.
Blue Jay walked over to the other two. “Are you guys all right?” he asked.
“We’re fine,” replied Colorshy. “I guess your hoof blades are pretty effective. I bet The Longhunter wasn’t expecting a melee attack.”
“Yeah,” added Rei. “I guess a melee weapon can be better than bullets in some situations.”
“Heh,” laughed Blue Jay as he extended his hoof to help the others up. “Maybe next time you’ll have a little more faith in me.”
“Whatever,” replied Rei taking Blue Jay’s hoof. “Hey, where’s Celestia?”
“I am here,” said Celestia, coming out of the bush she jumped into. “Thank you, all three of you, for defending me and defeating that evil human.”
“Oh please, that was just a simple nuisance-” started Rei.
“I’ll tell you what,” interrupted Celestia, “how about you three take back Canterlot for me. I’ll grant you each a wish within my power if you do.”
“That sound good to me,” said Colorshy.
“It would be ok if there was no reward, but odds are good that we’d need all the help we could get against Oblivion,” said Rei. “I guess we’d better get going.”
The four then made their way towards Canterlot, but not without being seen by The Campaigner. “Dammit!” he shouted, “I never should have trusted The Longhunter to handle those four.”
“Is there a problem?” asked The Primagen, walking up behind The Campaigner.
“No, I have my cyborgs flooding the streets and the only entrance to this city demolished.”
“What about that cave with all the rare crystals in it?”
“That one’s taken care of...”
