Project Dreamcatcher
Return to Manehatten
Load Full StoryThe winter chill creep up under his insulated hoodie as he stood outside the bar known as the Crying Wolf inside of Manehattens infamous Red Light district. The cars drove by, dragging the cold air and snow against his black cargo pants, black leather boots, and his dark blue insulated hoodie. Snow flacks landed on his neck and melted on his skin, distorting the color of his blue tribal tattoos. Shadowstep wasn't bothered by the cold, in fact he was used to it by now as he was just stationed at the Northern border just before coming down to Manehatten.
His head twitched toward the door of the bar as raised voices started to get louder and screams and shouts erupted from the bar. Soon enough a body flew from inside of the bar out to the snow covered sidewalks near him, the man got up and was dressed in a high class suit, his face covered in bruises. A second man came out from the bar, he was dressed similar to Shadowstep, he looked at Shadowstep and simply asked "Are you going to let me do the work again? Or are you going to do some yourself?"
"Are you two fucking dumb asses?! I'm fucking protected, you can't fucking touch me or else he'll get you fucks!" the man shouted to him after he got up from the snow and started dressing himself up. Shadowstep made almost no noise other then the soft crushing of his boots in the snow. Once he was right infront of the man he simply picked him up by the collar and slammed him down onto a near by parked car.
"I don't see you friends here to save you, your all alone with us. Now we know you been supplying drugs to a Sergeant Hammerfelt," Shadowstep whispered into the man's ear as he pushed him down harder onto the car.
"So what if I have been? Whats the info to you? After all she's just another drugie marine." the man grunted back, trying to get some breathing room.
"She was one of my marines, she was a part of the 205th magic division of the Lunar Marines, who is commanded by Captain Shadowstep and First Lieutenant Blade Breaker. Who is now gracing you with their presence." Shadowstep said out loud.
"Capt, we got company, I count three targets on rooftops watching. I think we got company." Blade Breaker said as he pulled out a small nine millimeter. Shadow watched the targets, this didn't bode well.
"Heh looks like my friends are here to say hello. You have best let me go before they get the wrong idea." The man said look toward the figures on the roof top. They sudden start to walk out of view.
"I think your friends are leaving you, now tell us what the drug was and how you got it to her." Shadow started to apply pressure to his throat and chest, making it harder for the man to breathe. He didn't mind killing the man, he just wanted to get the info before he did.
After a few minutes of crushing the man, he started to gasp for air and spit out the words Shadow wanted to hear, "All right I'll talk, I'll talk! The drug is a mix of magic dust with morphine, the mixture gives the person dull senses and gives them a deep sleep. Most use it as a relaxing drug. But in some cases there has been some anger outburst. She most likely got it in the chewing tobacco she order from here. That's the only way she could have gotten it, because we only sell it here."
Shadow sighed and let the man get up. He rubbed his eyebrows, wondering how he was not only going to tell the woman's family but her own members of her squad. He look at the guy and simply said, "I'll be generous since you didn't give me too much hassle about it, I'll give you to the count of five before I let my friend here go trigger happy."
He simply got up and started to run for his life, he got about two hundred feet away before a single gunshot rang out in the night. Shadow stood there and a slight grin appeared on his face before he was suddenly tackled to the ground beside a parked car. He turned around ready to fight off his attacker when he saw it was Blade Breaker.
"The fuck you doing?" Shadow muttered to him.
"Sniper is out there somewhere, I didn't fire that shot." he said pointing to his gun still in the holster. Shadow peered slightly through the window and cursed silently. They were out gunned and out numbered.
"Looks like a small team, about twenty to thirty of them." he whispered. He watched them for a second, suddenly they started to turn tail and run.
"Looks like we weren't the target." Breaker whispered as he slowly got up from behind the car.
"Yea but the question is who were they and why him?" Shadow asked as he got up from behind the car.
"I thought he was supposed to be dead" a female voice echoed in the dark tunnels that ran underneath the city. She steped into the light and had brown short hair, multiple ear piercings, and looked to be in her lower twenties, and was dressed in a brown sleeveless hoodie, green cargo pants, and canvas shoes.
"Well the reports I got from my contacts in Canterlot said he died in the north from some ambush. Looks like he was wrong." a second female voice said following the other girl. She had purple hair, looked to be a little bit older then the other girl and wore black leather dominatrix one piece and thigh high leather boots.
"But that doesn't make sense. I mean 9 years ago he disappears from here and now he returns? Something isn't right, I say we drag him here and figure out the missing pieces"
"We can't do that. First thing is that Shiva's contact is almost never wrong and in this case if he is wrong you heard him say he was a part of the Lunar Marines. We can't trust him anymore. Second thing is if he is who we think he is, then he left for a purpose. We all know him, hell he was our brother and even more to Lyla." a man's voice said. He was dressed up in a black under shirt and a red vest, his jeans were torn at the knees and ankles. He looked at Lyla, the one who started the whole conversation and simply hugged her and said "It's all right pup, if he is him, I will gladdly beat the shit out of him for what he did."
