Magic has been studied for as long as history has been recorded, and mastery is continuing to be achieved. However, there is one who refused to use the magic of Harmony, Discord, the ultimate entity of Chaos. Long has he been shunned and never understood. Shadow Cloak, agent of Celestia's secret organization of minds known as Rays of the Sun, made a discovery regarding this power. Upon his travels to find more about these enigmatic powers, he runs into an old rival, Espio Nage, in the town of Ponyville. As Espio plots the downfall of a kingdom he once served, Discord is revived in a last resort to counter Espio's plan.
