Chapter 3. In a jazzy mood
By Deanbrony
I have chosen to use $ as currency in my story. We do have our own currency but now you know what the things actually cost in dollars, and if you live another place, you should at least know the the ratio that your currency has compared to dollars. Enjoy some amazing music and( hopefully) a good chapter.

As the music continued the tall man stood up from his seat and went to sit beside me. I didn't notice it at first, but he had a really strong chin... weird detail. After giving me a little nod he turned to Gilda.
"You heard us Gilda. Two Bladnoch on the rocks." He said in a friendly tone. She smiled at us both. "That'll be 20$ good sir."
"Why of course miss." He handed 20 bucks over the counter and winked at her." Here you go."
She poured the beverage up into two glasses, put two ice cubes in each and handed them over. "Well here you go. If you need anything, please say so. I'd love to just stand and talk, but as they say. Duty calls." As she walked out the door, behind the counter she made sure to sway her hips from side to side. Making me look away and the raspy voiced man look on with renewed interest. When she was done wiggling her... hindquarters out the door he turned to me with a smile.
"See that's a woman I can get behind... literally, nonetheless." He said with a very raspy chuckle.
"Yeeeeeeah." I said feeling a bit awkward out the situation. Trying to change the subject, I asked one of the usual "First encounter questions"
"Soo what should I call you? I'm guessing Christian Bale would be an insult?" I asked with a little smirk.
"Yes, indeed I would be annoyed by that. You can call me Josh ." He said smirking back at me.
"Josh huh. I'm Mike T. Colt, pleasure to meet you." I gestured for a handshake.
He took my hand firmly." What does the T stand for?"
I winced for a second, I hate telling about my middle name. It SUCKS!
"It... “sigh” It stands for Tiberius." I said rather weakly. Why did my dad need to be so obsessed with Star Trek. I mean, if I get a daughter I'm not gonna give her Pinkamena as a middle name just because i'm a brony. He began laughing.
"Are you serious? Why did they call you that?" He asked still chuckling aloud.
Taking the first sip of the(Divine!) Bladnoch, savouring it's flavour and smooth texture, I answered "My dad was either a REAL Star Trek freak.... or he hated me." I took a bigger sip this time, almost knowing beforehand where the conversation would go.
Josh then looked at me, concerned." Is he dead?"
"Nope." I said, using my best Big Mac impression." He just left. Didn't give a reason... the bastard just left. Haven't seen him for three years." Thinking back on my dream, I was kind of glad I hadn’t seen him for three years.
Josh mouthed an “ohh” and we just sat there, drinking our whiskey in silence.
About 15 minutes later Gilda returned with a modest smile on her lips. She noticed us just sitting there.
"Hey... Mike?" I looked up at her tan face." Why so silent? You're usually the talkative one." She then gave Josh a flat look.
"You asked about the T right?"
Josh looked a bit taken aback that she knew." Y..yes."
"Did you ask about O' Boyle?"
He looked at her confused and last of his whiskey." O' Boyle?" I gotta admit, it sounded funny the way he said it.Gilda looked like she had forgotten something." Right, sorry. You couldn't have known. His dad, Bryan Colt O'Boyle. Or as he is known in this city... The Irish Gatling gun." Gilda's expression had changed from one of idle forgetfulness, to one of anger and disgust.
Josh just looked at her with a deadpan look.
"The Irish Gatling gun... did he find that name in a 1950’ies comic book?" After asking, he began shaking his head slowly and lightly from side to side.
Gilda gave him a, you don't know what you're talking about, look. She kept staring at him, until he couldn't take it any more.
"What?" he asked." You were expecting me to be scared or something?" He said, with a slightly disbelieving face.
The tan bartender kept her own look for a few seconds before answering dryly." This man, is the biggest crime lord in Scandinavia, having complete supremacy on the drug market in Denmark, Sweden and Schleswig Holstein. There's even been rumors about him, having more than a few politicians in his pocket, some going as far as to say he controls an entire party. Some have said, he smuggled the weapons in for the Utøya massacre because it would give him more political power to get monopoly in Norway too..." She tossed me a quick glance before looking back at Josh and continuing." Besides that he is known to cheat on countless women. After his hunger has been settled, he leaves, never to be seen again by the women who loved him."
He gave me an exhausted look, before saying sorry and stating that he hadn't tried to upset either of us. Especially not the pretty lady. I gotta give him that he was right on the pretty part... 'No brain, she's too old for you and you need to see where things can go with Octavia. But Gilda really does have something. She looks much younger than she is, with natural white hair, that was a thing I had trouble getting used to. She is also strong and independent, like, she's the reason there is no bouncer.
Gilda immediately shifted to a light hearted expression." Don't be sorry, it's all in the past... besides, new patron on the way up here so I can't keep looking angry." She said with a big smile.
And right on cue a pretty redhead, sporting a fuchsia shirt with fruit on, walked up beside me smiling and pointing at a bottle of vodka and then strawberry, cherry and blackberry juice in rapid succession.
Gilda looked genuinely happy." A bottle of berry punch for you, Margarita." She quickly mixed it together and gave the bottle to the girl. After paying 35$ for the bottle, the redhead left with an even bigger smile.
I looked confused at Gilda." Have she been here so much in my absence that she can just poke what she wants?"
"No she's mute, she just has a habit of forgetting her post its." Gilda said happily.
That got my mind reeling back to Octavia." Hmmm... reminds me of Octavia." I mused out loud.
"Who's that? A girl you're meeting?" She said with a sly smile.
I made a sheepish grin." Yeah. I'm kinda taking her on a date in two days. We'll be here."
" What's she like? Tell me. Tell me." The enthusiasm in her voice was staggering, emphasized by her hands clapping as well.
"She is fun, has beautiful black hair and purple eyes... kind of a tease. Just met her today, I want to know more.
“Aren’t you a bit quick on the trigger?” She said looking a bit worried.” You might scare the girl away if you’re too fast.”
I looked at her with a slightly pained expression.” Remember last time I tried taking it easy?”
Gilda flinched. She remembers the last time I went dating, back when I was relatively new in Copenhagen. That had ended with an empty wallet and heartache.
But we didn’t linger on sad love lives or drug lords. We got ourselves some more whiskey lined up as we began talking about alcohol, music and all it’s good for. For Josh it meant creativity, for Gilda it meant forgetting and help, for me it meant more hours at my job, all the good stuff.
“ Did I mention that I play music?” Josh suddenly said.
“ No you missed that part and the fact you’re playing tonight.” Gilda said amused. Seeing my enthusiasm she requested that he played something for me. That’s the great thing about Gilda. Always generous and kind. The weird thing about that is, that she always said it was a way of redeeming herself after losing her best friend, though I have a hard time imagining Gilda as a “Cold hearted bitch” as she put it.
Josh explained that he’d love to play right now, but his stuff was back at the hotel he was staying at. He did however bring a CD which made me excited. His raspy yet... soft voice, would make for interesting singing i thought.
Gilda took the disc and opened up a cabinet behind the bar to reveal a big music system which connected wirelessly to the many speakers spread across the ceilings and floors. She opened the tray, put the disc in the tray, closed it, pressed the but Aaaaaaaaand i’m rambling. With gentle strokes of a guitar the song started. As I expected his raspy voice took some time to get used to, almost to the point where I couldn’t hear the lyrics. The music was soothing and comforting. Combined with Josh’s voice it created a sad land with broken dreams and sorrow. But instead of being broken and sad the lyrics sounded... contempt. He sounded as though he’d accepted it and found the positive sides of that world. going as far as to call it a paradise.
I looked at him and said how beautiful and poetic it was, making his cheeks get a light pink tint. Before he could answer, Gilda let out a loud gasp.” Mike get your ass out of here. It’s 6pm!”
I of course reacted like a rational man would. “FUCK!” I exclaimed as I quickly said my goodbyes and ran out the door... or rather into a tall, muscular man in a black leather jacket and large beard. I fell flat on my ass in front of the large man, looking up at his face which was practically hidden behind a pair of ridiculously large sunglasses. He didn’t look particularly pleased.
“What the hell are you doing, you little shit!? Get the fuck out my way, this is Hell’s Angels territory.” He said very proudly/ angrily at me before kicking me to the side so he could get in. I got angry, stood up quickly and stared into the back of his skull, hoping it would burst into flames. After a couple of seconds, this proved ineffective, so with the help of the lovely alcohol in my veins I showed one of my drunken sides.
“Wrong move, dick head...” I become a smartass. An easily annoyed, violent, smartass.
He turned around and took off his sunglasses.” Would it be the right move to bash your skull in then?”
I cracked my knuckles and smirked confidently at him.” Lets find out... Gilda. Play my music please.”
I heard Gilda groan loudly and change the music, turning my smirk into a large grin.” Thank you Gilda.” I began taking my jacket off, as I lip synced to the music, to the obvious annoyance of the brawny doofus. “If you think that you can take me on, you must be crazy. There ain’t a single thing you’ve done, that’s gonna faze me.” The man looked practically furious now.
“Ohh, but if you wanna have a go. I just wanna let you know...”
After swiftly dodging the blow to my head I threw a punch in retaliation, which strafed his chin. This continued for some 12 seconds before I concluded that my tactic worked. He punched in sync with the music, which in turn made all his attacks very predictable. After realizing this, I started going in and out of sync with the music, making me a practical chaos on the dancefloor, but also on his big, ugly, face.
A couple of well placed hits to his jaw and liver and liver and he was down for the count. I lifted both my fists up over my head in sociopathic triumph and turns to Gilda as she shakes her head with a smirk.
“Are you not entertained!?” I say with a goofy grin, just as she takes on a more strained mine and looks past me to the front door. I of course look there as well, seeing another three Hell’s angels looking at their fallen brother, then at me.
“... ohhh shit!” At that moment I darted for the back door behind bar. They did as bikers do and followed me to avenge their brother. I ran past Gilda, past the bar and then out the door. It’s a small piece of open ground which either leads to Gilda’s own house or to the street, I chose the street. If I reached a bus station or a very public place, they wouldn’t hurt me, they’re smarter than that… hopefully.
They were of course hot on my tail, but then again, running in big leather jackets is kinda tough for long periods of time. They quickly tire out so I could hide at a bus station and get safely on one, but they knew how I look now.
Anyway, about ten minutes later I got out at another stop, which was half a mile or so from my mom’s apartment. The reason I didn’t just get over there with the bus? I wanted a cigarette.
While sobering up on a pleasant smoke I saw a shop, which had TV’s on display and some of them was on the news, mentioning a new secret member of daft punk. Interesting…
