Chapters It was beginning to dawn in Equestria and beyond.
On the side of a mountain, was Canterlot and its brilliant castle. It stood proudly as it was, the capital of Equestria. On the left of the castle, was the Lunar Wing.
A tall, elegant figure of a alicorn mare walked onto a balcony.
It was the Princess Of The Night.
Princess Luna stood on the balcony as she lowered her moon. Her horn glowed musky blue as each and every star disappeared.
Her midnight blue hair flowed as it sparkled like her stars. Wings spread apart and eyes closed.
The sound of hooves gently approached Luna.
A bright light began to rise from the east. Oranges, pinks and light blues mixed with night sky. It was now morning.
"Luna? I have to-"
"Yes, I know Tia. You have to go to Germaney." Luna moaned.
Celestia giggled. "You sound like a silly filly. I will be leaving in a moment and I won't be back till tomorrow night. I will still raise the sun. I've written down some rules for while I'm gone. Don't try to mess up the castle. No wild parties. N-"
"Urg. You just don't know when to stop. Why can't I have fun? It's not like I'm freeing Discord!" Luna huffed.
"I know. Just be safe. Besides, if you're bored read a book. There's loads in the library!" Celestia walked into her room and picked up her suitcases.
"I'm just gonna sleep!" Luna jumped onto the bed.
"Not for two full days, you're not! I will see you soon, little sister."
"I'll miss you Tia. Bye!" A blue hoof emerged from the bed covers and waved.
"Bye. Oh yea! Don't try to cook again! It was a week before we got the burnt butterscotch off the ceiling!"
Luna snorted. "Yes mother!" She said sarcastically.
The door closed with a click.
Luna ruffled about in the bed until she was comfortable.
"Hmmm. This is," *yawn*, "perfe-" Luna's sentence didn't end, as her eyelids drooped shut. Her wings spread around her body like a second blanket, and her mane flowing onto her face.
This princess wasn't going to wake up for no-pony!
The heat of the sun touched Luna. The rays shone through the windows and open curtains.
It was now noon. And the beaming sun, looked like a giant, gold jewel. White clouds drifted past, and the occasional rainbow streak zoomed around.
And Luna started to stir awake to the sound of ponies downstairs.
Clashes and yelling and whistling and humming.... the list would go on forever!
She fluttered her wings before opening her eyes.
She slowly raised her head and stretched her fore legs. She whipped her hair off her face and sat up. A brush was what she needed. As she sat up, her stomach rumbled.
A sweet smell of sugary baked goods, from the castle kitchen, drifted past her nose.
Cinnamon rolls, Crossaints, Ginger snaps, Lemon butter cupcakes, Fruit cake, The works!
She rolled out of bed, where she was met by a silver tray on the table.
A little tea pot, with steam flowing out of its spout, smelt of her favourite tea. Dandelion and apple. A little blue cup on the side, and a plate of ginger snaps and a blueberry muffin. A little note was also placed on the tray.
Luna,
I hope you had a restful sleep. Here's a spot of lunch along with a little treat. I knew you were going to be hungry when get up.

Luna smirked at the note.
She levitated the tea pot and poured her self a nice cuppa. She instantly scoffed the ginger snaps and the muffin. Crumbs spread all through her hair. She didn't care. She can deal with it later.
But now, it's time for some r&r.
Luna sipped the last few drops of her tea, before placing the cup down.
She hovered a brush over and attacked her hair. She also had some hair spray (offered by Rarity) and used that.
She stroked her feathers so they would be neat again. Perfect.
Her mane was flowing and shiny, and her wings shimmered.
She placed her necklace and then crown on. She slipped into her shoes.
She was ready.
But ready....for what?
"Ummmm. I could! No. What about? Nope." Luna was drained of ideas.
"if you're bored read a book. There's loads in the library!"
The library?! Really?!
Did she really think that she was going to the library?!
However, new books have been made over the last thousand years. Maybe there could be some good books. But anything with Starswirl the bearded, and she was out of there.
Yes, she like the spells and some of the lessons, but he was an old grumpy grouch. And his books were so very boring. Obviously, not for Celestia's student, Twilight Sparkle.
An idea sparked.
Starswirl was a prankster. And a pretty good one.
She remembered him teaching her how to change the colour of an object.
It turns out it works on ponies too.
She giggled. Celestia did not look good blue.
And the foal spell! She accidentally turned her mother into a filly. She looked so cute. But Starswirl wasn't happy. Neither was her farther. Mother loved it, thought. She said it showed skill in a young foal.
Maybe if she goes looking the spell book, she could prank the cook, her guards, even Shining Armour.
Yeah! She was in the mood for mischief!
Well, one must have fun! Especially if it means no big sister.
Even better!
With Celestia gone, she was in charge. No pony can tell her off.
For once, she was going to be dominant.
An evil grin grew on her face, and she rubbed her hooves together.
She was going to love these two days!
"I'm going to love these two days!" She yelled.
She got up and trotted to the door. She was about to leave when she looked back.
Bed covers ruffled and turned over. A teapot on the floor was surrounded by tea, and crumbs coated the floor.
Pranks can wait. She needed to tidy up.
What?! She does have standards!
"Good day, Princess Luna!"
"Hello, Princess Luna!"
"Good afternoon, Princess Luna!"
All kind of ponies greeted Luna as she walked down the corridor. She replied with either 'hello' or a simple smile.
She approached a room with large brown doors. She was about to open it when...
"Going for a little read, Princess?"
Luna jumped up. "Eep!"
"Oh sorry, Luna!" A purple unicorn apologised.
"Twilight Sparkle?! What are you doing here?"
"Celestia sent me letter about her trip. So I decided to come to Canterlot to see you." Twilight grinned.
"To see me? Really?!" Luna was astonished.
Twilight nodded.
"Wow! No pony ever wants to visit me."
"Well I do! Now are we going in the library or what?"
"The what?" Luna looked at the library doors. "Oh yea!"
"What about this book?"
"No!"
Twilight threw the book.
"What about this one?"
"No...wait!" Luna fluttered over to Twilight.
"The Book of Coloured Lint?! Eww!" Twilight winced.
"HAHAHA! That's just a disguise so Celestia won't read it!" Luna opened the book.
"What shall we choose?" Twilight asked.
"Umm. Colour Change, Fake Horn...oh, this one!"
Luna showed the book to Twilight.
"Foal Caster?!"
"I performed it on my mother. Heh." Luna blushed at the memory.
"Let me try it!" Twilight's horn glowed pink.
"Wait!"
A pink blast surrounded Luna.
"Luna?"
A small musk blue filly coughed.
Her hair was cyan blue and short. It was also no longer flowing. Her shoes, necklace and crown were now huge compared to Luna.
"Hahahahaha!!"
"It ain't funny Twilight!!" Luna's voice was now slightly higher.
"HAHAHA!"
"No! Only an alicorn can reverse it!"
"Haha- wait, what?!"
"My farther had to reverse the spell that I put on mother."
"But you're an alicorn!"
"Yes. But now I'm a filly, my magic is too weak. The only thing I can do is levitate!"
Twilight was dumbstruck.
"How about I reverse it?"
"You can give it a try."
Twilight's horn glowed but nothing happened.
"Horse apples!"
"What are we going to do? No pony can know about this!"
"Just stay in your room."
"But the cook and guards!"
"Stay at mine, till Celestia comes back."
"Really? Oh thank you Twilight!!" Luna ran up and hugged her.
Twilight picked up Luna's items. She walked towards the door before she was stopped by a grey pony in armour.
"Twilight Sparkle! Do you know where Princess Luna is located?"
"Umm. I think she has gone to..." She scanned the room for excuses. She saw the map of Equestria. A little apple marked Applelosa.
"Applelosa! For the rodeo! She's gone to inspect it!" She grinned.
The guard gave a stern look. "As you say, Miss. Sparkle. Enjoy reading!" He walked away.
"That was close!"
"Too close." Luna emerged from behind a pile of books.
"How are we going to hide you?"
"Errr."
They both pondered over the question.
"What about this?" Twilight zapped up a pram.
"What?!"
"It's the only way."
"Nu-uh!" Luna shook her head.
"Fine. I'll go and get one of the guards and-"
"No! I'll do it. But what about my horn? And my colours? Somepony is surely going to recognise me!"
"Didn't you say earlier, a colour change spell?"
"Yes?"
Pink shone over Luna.
"Et voila!" Twilight said.
Luna looked at her hooves. "AAHHH!" She ran over to a mirror. "AAHHH!"
"Come on! It's not that bad."
"Not that bad! NOT THAT BAD! I'M PINK! MY COAT IS PINK! MY HAIR IS PINK! MY FEATHERS ARE PINK!"
"I know, but at least no pony will look twice when they see you. Besides, this spell, I can reverse."
"Hmphf!"
"Let's go, Cotton Candy."
"Cotton Candy?"
"If any one asks."
"But if they do ask, what will you say?"
"I'll say...you're my...friends daughter!"
"And that I am an alicorn?"
"I've got blankets and a bonnet."
"No bonnet!"
"Fine. Ponies will think you're a unicorn."
Luna tried to fly into the pram, but failed.
Twilight giggled and helped her in. Tucked her in with the blankets, tidied up and left.
It was a peculiar sight.
Twilight Sparkle with a baby unicorn. Or so it seemed.
"Twily!"
Twilight whipped her head around to see Shining Armour run up to her.
She smiled.
"Shining!"
Shining glanced at the pram.
"Twilight?" He only calls her by her full name if he's either angry or concerned.
"Umm.It's my friends daughter!"
"Uh huh! Have you seen Princess Luna? Everypony is searching for her! She can't have just disappeared, she needs to raise the moon!"
A high squeal came from the pram.
"Oh dear! I better get her back to her mother." Twilight attempted to leave.
"Who is the mother? Someponies walking past said it was yours!"
"What! No way! It's...Ummmm...Berry....Punch's?"
"Hmm. Well, what are you doing here?"
"Errr. Berry Punch is in hospital! so I'm looking after her daughter. I thought it would be nice for her to visit Canterlot!"
"What abou-"
Suddenly, Luna broke off in to a giant cry.
"WWAAAAHHHH!"
Shining winced. "Right! I've got to go!" He hugged Twilight. "Bye! Good luck with the baby!" And he walked off.
Twilight waved. "Say hi to Cadance for me!" She turned to the pram. "Thanks Luna! He was bombarding me with too many questions!"
"Urg! Can we just go? I feel gross! I'm the princess of the night! Blues, blacks and silver! Not pink and bonnets!"
Twilight smirked.
"One adult and one infant ticket please!"
Twilight was at a ticket booth, at the train station.
"That would be five bits." A lime green unicorn replied.
Twilight put the bits on the counter, took the tickets and walked onto the train.
The library contained five young mares and a baby dragon.
"Ah'm sure Twi is jast fine!" Applejack yawned.
"Yeah! But she has been gone for awhile!" Rainbow Dash fluttered her wings. She was getting antsy, standing around.
"Girls, I'm just gonna go out. My wings need a stretch!"
She was just about to open the door, when it flew open.
"Don't worry! We're here now!" Twilight walked in.
"Errr."
Twilight looked up to see her friends.
"What's with the pram?" Rainbow trotted over.
"Nothing!"
"Well, its obviously something! Considering there's a bloody baby involved!"
"I said nothing, Rainbow! This is just a trolley! I just decorated!
"You're a terrible liar!"
"What?!"
"Twilight, dear, just tell us who the baby is." Rarity stood up.
"And the mother." Fluttershy flew over to the baby.
They all did.
"It's pink!" Rainbow commented.
"It, is a girl! And does it have a name?" Rarity looked over to Twilight.
"Ummmm."
"It's an alicorn!!" Applejack yelled.
Luna got fed up. She stood up. "I do have a name, Applejack!"
AJ stepped back. "How does she now ma name?"
"Girls. This is Princess Luna."
"Riiiight! And I'm Princess Cadance!" Rainbow said sarcastically.
"No no! I'm telling the truth! Watch!"
Luna instantly turned from pink to her original colours.
"See!"
"Still doesn't prove anything! For all we know, it could be Scootaloo!"
"RAINBOW MIRIAM DASH! TWILIGHT SPARKLE IS TELLING THY TRUTH! WE HAVE BEEN CHANGED TO A FILLY DUE TO ONE'S SPELL!!"
Rainbow's eyes opened wide. "Yep! That's Luna!"
"So yah turned tha princess inta a filly! Great going, but why aren't yah turning her back?" Applejack asked.
"That's the problem. I can't. Only an alicorn can. Luna's magic is to weak and Celestia is in Germaney."
"Coool! Can ya turn me into a filly? Can ya? Can ya? Can ya?" Pinkie bounced around.
"No Pinkie! Celestia won't be back till tomorrow night!"
Luna suddenly jumped up. "What time is it?!"
"Three. Why?"
"The sun sets at eight. I'm supposed to raise the moon! But how? Like I said earlier, my magic is too weak!"
"Spike, take note!"
Whoosh.
"Huh?"
Whoosh.
"Come on!"
Whoosh.
"Da hell?!"
"Spike? What's the hold up? Send the letter already!" Twilight urged.
"I can't. It's not working."
"Oh dear."
"Luna, what is it?"
"I forgot! Oh I am so stupid!"
"Luna!"
"Once you've left the border of Equestria, the magic gets weaker. So Spike's flame is now to weak to reach Germaney." Luna replied.
"How about I send it?" Twilight asked.
"Nope, same problem."
"I know. What if I could send the letter? I could fly there. I would be pretty fast too." Rainbow said.
"Actually, that's not half bad. Yeah, okay."
"Right, Rainbow this is going to be a long journey. So I've packed light for you."
"Kay." Rainbow fluttered as Twilight placed the saddle bags on her back.
"Goggles, the letter, water flask and a permission slip."
"A permission slip? What?! Is she going on a field trip?" Pinkie giggled.
"Well yes. But the slip is so she can gain access to Germaney, without be arrested." Twilight replied.
"An wha will happen if she was arrested?" Applejack asked.
"There's a slight chance she could be executed."
"What?! What for?"
"She could be accused as a spy. Or an agent. You see, Germaney are very strict. Anypony who fails to follow will be executed."
Rainbow gulped. "Well, I live on risks."
"Now be careful. Don't use attitude and don't talk back. Respect them."
"Okay. See ya later girls!" And Rainbow zoomed out.
"Twilight, what will happen if Rainbow is executed? If you don't mind answering." Fluttershy questioned.
"You know what, I don't know!"
"Twilight?"
"Yeah."
"How long does it take to get Germaney?"
"It depends, Rarity. For a walking pony, two weeks. For a average flying pony, three days at least. For Rainbow, half a day. Maybe less."
"It's been too looong!" Luna complained.
"Yeah! Dashie has been too long."
"Ah agree. Even for Rainbow."
Knock. Knock. Knock.
"Spike!"
"Yeah yeah. I hear you!" Spike opened the door.
"Oh my goodness!" Fluttershy squeaked.
"What happened?"
Rainbow stood there with an arrow through her left wing, dripping with blood. Various cuts and bruises across her body. And a deep scar along her cheek.
"Let's just say they don't appreciate my family name."
"Whatever do you mean?" Rarity inquired.
"Her ancestors are one of the most skilled and most well known swords-ponies in all of Equestria." Twilight walked over to the group, hovering a book. "I thought I saw your family name in my history books."
"What's your family name?"
"Dashery. Rainbow Miraim Dashery."
"Yes and Germaney has a grudge against your name. Since the Pegasi War."
"As soon as they read the permission slip, first reaction was arrest me. But I flew away. Next was to try and ground me."
"So wh-."
"Did you give Celestia the letter?" Luna yelled.
"No."
"What?!"
"I gave it to my Germane friend. Who happens to be the ambassador."
"Okay. But Tia must react soon. It's nearly dusk." Luna worried.
Everypony then resumed to sitting and simply talking.
Until, they heard a small whimpering.
They all turned around at Rainbow, who had the arrow in her mouth and was trying to pull it out of her wing.
"Oh don't mind me. I'll just pull this out without any medical attention. Just go about your business." Rainbow said sarcastically.
Everypony looked over at Fluttershy.
"Oh! Okay. Sorry Rainbow."
Fluttershy inspected the arrow.
"Umm."
"Oh for crying out loud! Jast yank it Fluttershy!" Applejack pulled at the arrow.
"Owowowow!"
"Applejack! Stop that immediately! Can't you see that is not going to work." Rarity called.
A puff of golden glitter appeared, revealing a scroll.
"It's from Tia! It's from Tia!" Luna bounced around.
Twilight grabbed the scroll and read aloud.
"Dear Luna and my faithful student, I received your letter earlier today about a certain incident. However, due to circumstances here in Germaney, I will not be returning for another week."
"What?! Oh sweet moonshine!" Luna yelled.
"But I will attempt to raise the moon until the spell has worn off or Twilight reverses it. I am sure that if you look carefully that you will find an answer to your problem. Also, I heard the king mention the family name Dashery. Rainbow, I do hope that you are not too injured."
Rainbow snorted.
"Your caring Princess, Celestia."
"Another week! I can't survive another week!" Luna began to cry.
"Aww, Luna. It's only seven days."
"Exactly! I hated being young."
"Why?"
"Everypony was so dominant towards me. Tia was always the favourite. She always bossed me around. I thought that when Celestia was gone, I will be in charge for once."
"It's not all bad."
"It's not all bad! My sister can raise and lower both moon and sun, without help. I don't even need to be here. No pony will care."
"Now that's a horrible thing to say!"
"But its true!" Luna sobbed.
Another puff of glitter and scroll appeared.
"Another one?"
"Dear little sister, I know you are upset Luna, but I have found a new spell here for Twilight to perform. However, equipment is needed and I have it all here. Due to my location, my magic is getting weaker. Soon my magic won't be enough to raise the sun and the moon. Please Rainbow Dash, please retrieve these objects. And be careful. I heard that the king has doubled security and is out to get you. Sincerely, Princess Celestia."
"Right! Somepony get this bloody arrow out of my wing now!"
"Calm down."
"No."
"Rainbow! You're being an immature brat!"
"Me? In case you haven't noticed, I've got a piece of wood through my wing!" Rainbow yelled.
"Okay please calm down!"
"Don't make me mad, then tell me to calm down! That's like stabbing somepony and then wondering why they're bleeding!"
"Rainbow, if you calm down and stay still, I might be able to remove the arrow." Fluttershy called.
"Fine. But please be quick. It hurts so much."
"It is obviously gonna hurt." Sneered Applejack.
"Applejack. You do realise that the wing is the most sensitive part of a pegasus' body."
"Ahhh."
"There." Fluttershy wound a bandage around Rainbow's wing.
"Where did the bandages come from?"
"Spike."
Fluttershy then handed the bloodied arrow to Spike.
Rainbow flapped her wing but winced in pain.
"Rainbow, are you sure you can do another trip?"
"Yup." She croaked.
Rainbow slowly fluttered back outside.
"Hm-ngh!"
"Luna?"
"Ngh-ahh!"
"What are you doing?"
Luna was standing in front of a book. Her eyes were shut tight and her wings flared out. A small glimmer of blue began to show on her horn.
"Ngh!" She flopped to the floor.
Twilight trotted over to the exhausted alicorn filly.
"Luna, what are you trying to do?"
"I'm trying to change the state of that book."
"Change the state?"
"Solid to liquid."
"But why?"
"If I could do that, it would increase my magic. Meaning, if my magic was strong enough before Celestia is too weak, I might be able to control the moon in my current state."
"But Luna. You're a filly. Not even I could do that level of magic."
"So. You're a unicorn. I'm a alicorn."
"Still. You are too y-mmm!" A zip formed across Twilight's lips.
Luna walked closer.
"Try and tell me what to do, and believe me it will be your last sight of daylight." She said in a threatening tone, as the room darkened. "You do realise you are talking to the co-ruler of Equestria. The sister of the great Celestia. The goddess of the night. The owner of dreams and nightmares. Formerly, the owner of creeping darkness, aka...Nightmare Moon."
Everypony stared at Luna and Twilight.
"Does thou understand?"
Twilight nodded rapidly.
"Good."
The zipper disappeared and Twilight immediatly gasped for breath.
Luna quickly realised what she had done, and hugged the unicorn.
"I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to. It just happened. Please forgive me Twilight."
Twilight's expression softened.
"It's okay."
"But it's not. If I do that to often, I might become Nightmare...Moon agaaaiin." Luna wailed.
"Shh, I'm sure you won't become Nightmare again. Your heart is not black as coal. And ponies adore and love you."
Luna hugged Twilight tighter.
"Thank you." She whispered.
A small puff of golden glitter appeared. However, it was duller than before and less...glittery.
"Oh no! My sister's magic is getting weaker." The filly exclaimed.
Rarity trotted over and opened the scroll.
Her eyes scanned the paper.
"Oh dear."
"What? What is it?"
"Oh dear, oh dear."
Applejack snatched the paper from Rarity's blue magic grip.
She sat down and read the letter aloud.
"Ahem. Dear Twilight, Luna an company, ah am sorry ta say tha Rainbow Dash is unable ta return. Unfortunately, she was caught. Ah watched as Rainbow struggled ta fly with tha equipment, with her injured wing, an was struck down by a near by guard."
The others gasped.
"Luna, if yah wish ta be transformed, yah must come ta Germaney. Yah carin princess, Celestia."
"Oh no Dashie!"
"We must go to Germaney." Twilight exclaimed.
"Okay darling, let me go and pack." Rarity opened the door, and three fillies tumbled down.
"Girls?!"
"Wha do yah tink ya doin?" Applejack huffed.
"Err, we were...cleaning...the door?"
"Yah three are in big trouble!"
"Lay off them Applejack. They're only fillies." Luna trotted over.
"So, they were ear wigging."
"All little ponies do it. Even elders. I certainty do. Tia is the easiest to prank."
"But still."
"No Applejack. As thy Princess of thy night, we order one to spare the youths. Are we making ourselves clear?"
"Yes, your highness." Applejack backed away.
"Wow. It literally Is Princess Luna." Scootaloo said.
The three fillies ran up to the alicorn.
"You look really cute. I certainty like your mane." Sweetie Belle complimented.
"Why thank you."
"Don't tell Celestia but..." Applebloom whispered into Luna's ear. "Yah are tha best princess."
Luna looked gobsmacked. "For certain? For certain?"
"Yup."
"Hey, what about the trip to rescue Dashie?" Pinkie bounced over.
"Rainbow Dash? Needs rescuing? That can't be true." Scootaloo scoffed.
"Unfortunately, it is. She was injured and caught off guard."
"Yeah! And that means a holiday!" Pinkie skipped across the room.
Rarity resumed to exiting the library.
"And where do you think you're going?" Luna asked.
"To pack my stuff. It's going to be long journey."
"No. It's not going to be a long journey. We could ask for a chariot."
"Hey yeah. I could call for one. Celestia allows me to have access to the chariots." Twilight explained as her horn lit up.
"Can we come? Pretty please." The crusaders begged.
"No." Applejack said bluntly.
"Please." Sweetie Belle pleaded.
"Ah said no."
"I say yes."
"No."
"Yes."
"No."
A sly grin grew on Sweetie's face. "No."
"Yes." Applejack replied.
"We don't want to go."
"Well, yah comin whether yah like it or not!"
"Okay. Come on girls." Sweetie Belle walked away.
"Yea tha will teac- wwaaaiit a minute."
The others giggled.
"Okay, Miss Twilight Sparkle. Where are you heading?"
"Germaney."
A golden chariot, pulled by two white pegasi in golden armour, stood outside the great tree library.
"May we ask why?"
"To visit Celestia. She said that she has something important for us."
"As you wish."
The five mares climbed aboard, along with four fillies.
As Luna was about to clamber on, she was stopped.
"Halt!"
"What? why?" Twilight exclaimed, believing that the small hat and hairdo wasn't enough to hide Luna's indentity.
"This young filly has a royal cutie mark."
They looked over to see Luna's cutie mark still visible on her flank.
"Ermm...it's marker pen. She adores Princess Luna."
The guard raised an eyebrow.
"Certainly. As great as Celestia is, Princess Luna is the best." Luna said, hoping that the guards wouldn't recognise her now squeaky voice.
The other guard piped up.
"Yeah. Even though she used to be Nightmare Moon, she is really kind. I injured my wing at the royal wedding. So I couldn't be on guard afterwards. But Celestia made me go on overtime. Princess Luna came over and gave me company, and half the day off. She's the best."
Luna fluttered up, and smiled gently to herself.
Twilight leaned over.
"You see. Ponies would miss you."
"Also Miss Twilight Sparkle, Princess Luna has been missing. Do you know her whereabouts?"
"I said Applelosa, earlier."
"We've searched. She was not there."
"I think she has gone to Germaney too. To visit her sister."
"Okay. We will pick her up for the trip back."
The guards fluttered their wings and took off.
"I can't believe it. Ponies like me. After what I was."
"Luna, everypony makes mistakes. But dwelling on the past makes it worst. Look for the future. Ponies forgive others, whatever the have done."
"Thank you Twilight."
"I really REALLY need to pee!" Sweetie Belle whined.
A golden chariot, held by two pegasus stallions in gold armour, was heading towards a darkened land.
"Well, you should have gone before we left." Rarity replied with a huff.
In the chariot was five mares and four fillies. One of those fillies happened to be the co-ruler of Equestria, a.k.a Princess Luna.
"But I didn't!" Sweetie whinged.
"Urg! Stop with this annoying whining!" Luna moaned.
"But I really-what's that?" Sweetie pointed to a pink glimmer.
Luna rose from her seat. "Rarity. Sweetie Belle. Try and reduce the amount of magic you use. Your magic is too weak to be used constantly. Twilight, do the same. You maybe a master at magic but it won't last long."
"Why?" Rarity questioned.
"That's the Equestrian border. Once you've left it, all magic is weaker. That is why Tia is getting weaker. Even though she has goddess-like powers, it will still weaken her. I hope Tia is okay."
Applebloom lay a hoof on Luna's shoulder.
"Ah'm sure she'll be jast fine."
Luna smiled at Applebloom.
Everypony shivered as they crossed the border and exited Equestria.
"Here we are Miss Twilight Sparkle."
"Thank you sirs."
They all jumped out of the chariot, as two other guards in blue walked up.
"Guten tag! Sie sind Twilight Sparkle?" One of them asked.
"Ja, Sie konnen Englisch sprechen?" Twilight spoke fluently.
"Yes, of course." The pegasus guard replied.
"Thank you very much. I do appreciate that you have welcomed us to your land."
"Ah yes. But you are very lucky." The unicorn guard said as they began walking into the castle.
"Why's that?" Scootaloo hopped over.
"Well young one, our security has been breached."
"How?"
"My, what a curious little filly."
The pegasus guard spoke up. "Too curious."
"Oh hush hush, Schild. Young ones are always curious."
"If you don't mind me saying, but who are you?" Rarity asked.
"Well, my fair pony, I am Sterndeuter. Which means in your language, Stargazer. And my dear pegasus friend is Schild. That means protect. We are both guards for our king, Fürst the first."
"We are here."
They all stopped in front of a gaint, big brown door.
Luna gazed around at the walls of the hallway.
She noticed a lot of blue alicorns, stars and moons.
She walked closer to a picture. A picture that stood out more than any other picture. A picture of a mare. A nightmare.
"Luna? Come on!" Pinkie yelled.
The wild pink pony bounced over.
She squinted at the picture Luna was staring at.
"Hey! That looks like Ni-."
"The king awaits." The pegasus guard boomed, interupting Pinkie's sentence.
Pinkie growled, as she doesn't like being interupted, but being Pinkie, she skipped over and sang, "Okie Dokie Lokie!"
Luna trotted in as well and glared at the pegasus.
But no sooner had she entered, she let out a blood curdling scream.
"TIA!"
Celestia stood next to the King's throne. But her hair was no longer flowing. It drooped down her neck. All tangled. Her usually pristine pearly white coat was now dullened and grey. Her crown, necklace and shoes were grubby and dented.
Luna ran up to Celstia, and instantly hugged her.
"Omigosh! Tia! Are you okay?"
"Yes Luna. I am fine." She croaked.
Celestia moved slightly, but what grabbed Luna's attention was a noise. A changling niose.
Luna looked behind her sister and noticed large metal chains attached to Celestia's leg.
"Your highness." Twilight and the others bowed before the King.
Fürst the first was a brown earth pony with scarlet red hair. He had a midnight blue cape and a bronze crown upon his head.
"How dare you?" Luna yelled.
"How dare I? Whatever do you mean?" The King asked innocently.
"You have my sister in chains!"
"Your sister? I'm sorry little filly, but Celestia's sister is no more."
"What? What are you going on about?"
"You see the great and powerful Luna got sent to the moon."
"The great and powerful? Isn't that Trixie's saying?" Twilight whispered.
"We owe our lives to the oh nightly one."
"Why?"
"A dark and evil spirit plagued the land. We never knew it's name but we called it the Shadow. It stole our children and poisoned our food. Then, Princess Luna Eclipse came to our land and banished the monster. Unfortunately, as she tried to get rid of the spirit, her disgraceful sister threw her to the moon. Never to be seen again."
"Well, that's a lie. Luna is right there." Scootaloo pointed.
"No you stupid filly! Luna is no more! For all we know she could be dead!"
"Wait! Where's Dashie?"
"Who?"
"Rainbow Miriam Dashery! You've kept her captive! Where is she?" Twilight demanded.
"Oh, you mean the Dashery mare. Hahaha! Quite a fiesty one she is. Schild! Bring Mrs Dashery up! Pronto!"
"Yes sir!" The pegasus guard saluted and walked away.
About three minutes later, the doors opened. Revealing the pegasus and a chained up Rainbow Dash.
"Dashie! Are you okay?"
"Never better Pinkie." Rainbow said sarcasticlly.
"She is going to be executed in...half an hour."
"What? No!"
"And the same with Celestia. Hahaha!"
Luna's blood boiled.
"Listen mister! I am the Princess of the Night! I am Princess Luna!"
"She's right you know. You should agree otherwhise you might lose your hearing." Rainbow sniggered.
Schild looked over at Fürst. Fürst nodded back.
Schild pulled out a knife and plunged it into Rainbow's stomach.
"RAINBOW!"
"Oh horseapples." Rainbow croaked as she fell to the floor.
Luna's temper rose. Her coat began to darken. Her hair grew. So did her wings and horn.
The girls ran over to Rainbow, who was trying to get back up.
"Wow! This is going to be the best day ever! Not only have I enslave the ruler of the sun, but I have finally got my revenge on the Dashery family!"
Luna looked around.
First at her sister.
Then at Rainbow and the girls.
"That....is....IT!" Luna screamed.
In a burst of light, a black alicorn stood in Luna's place.
"Ah! It's N-N-Nightmare Moon! The spirit that plagued our land!"
"WE HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF YOU, YOU SCUM!" Nightmare yelled in the royal canterlot voice.
"Please don't hurt me."
"DON'T TEMPT US! SINCE WE HAVE RE-ENTERED YOUR CASTLE WE HAVE BEEN DISAPPOINTED! YOU SELFISH STALLION DON'T DESERVE THE TITLE OF A KING!" She walked closer to the shivering king.
"WHO KNOWS, I MAY WANT A TASTE OF BLOOD. IT'S BEEN A LONG TIME." Nightmare laughed.
"No, please. Take the rainbow one. She's dying. She's not worthy."
"NOT WORTHY? YOU ARE TELLING ME THAT SHE IS NOT WORTHY?!"
"She murdered my grandfather and my father." The king whimpered.
"TIS A LIE! HER ANCESTORS MURDERED THEM NOT HER! SHE HAS HELPED SAVED EQUESTRIA FROM CERTAIN DOOM! HER ANCESTORS SAVED US FROM MURDER! SHE HAS SAVED US FROM MURDER!"
"But she-she..."
"IS A SWORDSPONY. WE KNOW. BUT THAT IS NO EXCUSE."
"Back off from our King you monster!" Schild yelled.
Now while everypony was shivering in their coats, Twilight and Celestia knew that this was still Luna. Although, she was midnight black with blue flowing hair, you could tell that it wasn't Nightmare Moon.
Her eyes.
Nightmare's eyes were ice blue with a thin pupil.
The Nightmare Moon in-front of them had aquamarine eyes with a large pupil.
"WHAT'S THE PROBLEM NOW?!"
"You! How come you're here? Right now?"
"The elements of harmony."
The King gasped.
"Die Elemente der Harmonie!"
Sterndeuter walked over.
"But die Elemente der Harmonie were lost."
"No. They are in the souls of six ponies." Celestia croaked.
"What? Who?"
"Them." Celestia pointed to the Mane Six.
"That is not possible."
"Oh it is. That is how Nightmare Moon was destroyed..." Black smoke surrounded the alicorn. "..and I became free." Once the smoke disappered, the King and the guards bowed.
"Oh your highness."
"I am very disappointed in you."
"Oh Princess Luna, we are so sorry."
"Yeah but sorry isn't going to help Rainbow."
"But she is enemy."
"No she is a saviour. Without her me and Celestia would not be alive."
"How do ya mean Princess?" Applejack asked.
"I-I-ahh-" Rainbow stood up. "Commander Rainbow Miriam Dashery of the Equestrian Army, reporting for duty, your Highness." Rainbow bowed before collapsing to the ground.
"Sterndeuter. Nehmen Sie den Verletzten ein, um Ihre Burg Arzt. Und schnell!" Luna demaned.
"Ja, eure Hoheit." The unicorn guard trotted over and helped Rainbow stand up. He walked her out, supporting her with his magic. Fluttershy and Applejack quickly followed.
"Luna!"
"Yes Twilight?"
"How are you...you again?"
"It's the same outbreak I had when I really turned into Nightmare Moon. I had the magic of a proper alicorn. I had the magic to turn my self into an alicorn again." Luna then turned to Fürst. "Release my sister. Now."
"Y-Y-Yes. Schild! Release Celestia!"
Schild trotted over to Celetia an unlocked her chains.
As soon as she was released, she walked over to Luna.
"Oh Tia. I'm glad you're safe."
"Thank you Luna. I'm proud of you."
"Whatever do you mean sister? My temper got the best of me."
"I know but I am glad that earlier, you told me what happened. Luna, I know you try to be independant, and secretive, but I'm glad you are finally speaking up. I hated the sister who sat quietly in corner. Alone."
"I'm sorry for getting into this mess."
"What's there to be sorry about? It was an accident."
"Thank you Tia." Luna's horn glowed and tapped Celestia's.
Instantly, Celestia's coat turned pearly white, her jewellery and shoes shone brightly again, and her hair resumed it's flowing vibrant state.
"No, thank you Luna. I couldn't ask for a better little sister." She smiled.
"Fürst, I want, no, demand you to improve your attitude. From now on Equestria will merge forces with Germaney. Creating a peacer world for both of our ponies." Celestia spoke with more confidence than before.
"Yes, of course. All hail the Solar Schwestern." Schild and Fürst said in sync.
"Err..ya highness." Applejack walked in. "Tha chariot is ready."
"What about Rainbow Dash?" Scootaloo asked.
"She's comin with us. But we ave got ta hurry. So we can her ta tha Ponyville Hospital."
"Okay AJ." Pinkie, Twilight and Rarity walked out.
"Good bye Princesses. Again I am sorry."
"It's okay."
"Come ya rascals!" Applejack ushered the Crusaders onto the chariot.
"Umm, Applejack, darling, where is Twilight? She's not sitting next to Celestia. And I have no idea where Luna is either." Rarity asked.
At that point, Twilight and Luna came walking up to the chariot. With an injured pegasus behind. Twilight was using her magic to support Rainbow Dash from collapsing. Luna helped with her bandages, as the Germane doctor was not...well...good for a doctor.
"They need a new doctor."
"I'm suprised that they're all alive still. He thought that hacking off a limb woulg stop a headache." Twilight laughed.
"It would. Well, it would at least get rid of the headache." Luna giggled.
Twilight began laughing hysterically. Her magic flickered.
"Twi!" Applebloom shouted.
Twilight calmed down when she realised Rainbow Dash was swaying slightly.
"Twi, can we just get out of here already." Rainbow croaked.
"Errr, yes. Sorry."
On the trip back, Scootaloo hugged Rainbow as she slipped in and out of consciousness, Rarity asked how Celestia kept her mane so shiny (the secret is too be an over one thousand year old alicorn with goddess-like powers...that and Hoity Toity's new range of conditioner), Applejack was chatting to Pinkie who was going on and on and on and on....and on, Fluttershy sang quietly with Applebloom and Sweetiebelle to keep their hopes high, Luna sat next to Twilight.
"Thank you."
"What for?"
"Duh! Everything! You released me from my darkened doom, and you became my friend. I-I...I never had a friend."
"Why?"
"I was royalty. Even though I went to private school, no pony liked me. They were either too scared cause I was a royal, or it was because I was too shy. Tia was my only friend. But it was never the same."
"Aww Luna."
"Nopony came to my birthdays. Again, only Tia. Our mother and father died before I got my cutiemark. They were murdered by enemies during an attack. You're my first friend. You and the others, Pinkie, Applejack, Rarity, Fluttershy, Rainbow, Sweetiebelle, Scootaloo and Applebloom, are my best friends. Thank you." Luna brought Twilight into a rib-crunching hug.
"Thank you so much."
