It came from a far off world, entering the dreams of Twilight Sparkle as the clock struck four-past-midnight. It was unstable in the materium, and she too trusting. A pact was forged, alien consciousness to unicorn mare, changing both irrevocably. The next morning, she began to regret her decision.


Celestia ruled Equestria's days with care and attention, ignoring her own needs when others had need of her. She feared that she was neglecting her student, but sent her away once more, despite her misgivings. Walking on eggshells around the nobles, wearing a painted smile and a kind mask, to hide the growing cracks beneath.


Reintegration hit Luna hard, and she finds every attempt at returning to her position to be an uphill struggle. A thousand years on the moon might be enough to break just about everyone, even the moon princess. Meanwhile, Celestia looks on, powerless once more, as Luna returns to the solitude she knows so well. The past defines us, but the princesses cast a long shadow, and Luna has much that she would rather forget.
