//-------------------------------------------------------// Call on Lyra -by Amoobesidyou- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Wake up call. //-------------------------------------------------------// Wake up call. Call of Lyra Wake up call The ceiling looked odd, like somepony simply tossed paint on it and was done after that. It had air bubbles all over it and was dripping while it dried, like nopony cared. Then again why would anypony care about how a ceiling looked, all the rooms went way higher then eye level. That being said, what was she doing right now? Judging the very thing she just insulted, it was not the ceilings fault that somepony neglected it. The more she thought about the whole thing, the more she realized that what she was looking at looked spongy. Maybe she was sleeping under a large sponge and all it needed was for a pony to squish it. Why was the ceiling made out of squishy sponge anyway, and how could a pony reach that high in the first place? They would have to be some crazy freak of nature, or maybe they were simply a pegasus. That made more sense. Lyra was laid out on her back, legs out stretched as she tried in vain to reach the ceiling. What started as struggling and straining for the sky dissolved in a very weird pony simply wiggling every hoof in the air randomly. With a quiet giggle, the noodle like legs began pointing all around the room as the unicorn spun on her bed. With a loud grunt Lyra threw her body into the air, but since she started out laying on the bed she simply rolled off onto the wooden floor.  Blowing her mane out of her eyes, she shook a hoof in the air and crawled back into bed. "I'll get you tomorrow night Spongy!" "Don't you mean tomorrow morning?" A familiar and rather frustrated voice said from the door way, followed by the bump of hoof beats on the floor. Lyra faked a frown at her roommate, wiggling her front hooves and bursting into laughter. "Hellooooo Bon Bon, come to help with the assault against Spongy?" The earthpony did not try to hide her smile, though her tone was still a little upset. "No you weird pony, I came to wake you up so we will make it to the meeting this morning. I don't want to miss this one because somepony had to sleep in late again." She was now glaring at Lyra. "It is a simple meeting, so everypony in ponyville will know their place in other town meetings." The frustration left Bon Bon as she listened to herself talk. "I'm glad the Mayor put Twilight in charge of town planing, but does every little detail need to be perfect?" Lyra sighed, realizing how sleepy she was. "I'm sure you can remember my place for me. Just make sure I'm not near anypony else." The unicorn gave one last hoof wiggle and pulled her blanket over her head. "No Lyra, you have to go this time. I looked like a fool trying save a spot for a no-show pony last time. That was the last meeting for meetings, this meeting will be a meeting for the rest of our meetings. If you don't show up..." Bon Bon stomped over to the bed and threw away the covers with her teeth. Lyra's response was a simple "No." With a smirk the blanket was wrapped in magic and floated back over her. "Lyra, don't test me today, I'm not in the mood." From under the covers the weird pony chirped back. "Test test test, testing Bon Bon, one two thr..." She was interpreted by a tugging again, this time forcing her and the mattress to topple onto the floor. "Hey, I was only kidding. No need to make a mess!" Still giggling to herself, Lyra rolled on the wooden floor and huddled under her blanket. "Enough playing, the longer this goes on the less time we have for breakfast." The earthpony said with a mouth full of blanket. "The longer you keep this up, less sleep I get." Lyra grunted, doing the same to the other end. What started as a simple annoyance was now a full blown tug-of-war match in the bedroom, that Lyra was clearly winning. Before long Bon Bon gave up fighting, letting go and sitting down in a huff. Caught off guard, the green unicorn fell back, losing her own grasp and letting her blanket fly into the air. The thin piece of fabric fell right over her head, her horn poking right through. "That barely touched you, how did your horn cut through it?" Bon Bon gasped, her head tilted to the side. "I sharpen it, needs to be pointy." Lyra smiled, though most of her body was covered. "You... sharpen your horn?" "Yes." "Why?" "Well Bon Bon, some fillies grow up in hard towns, they have to work hard. Things out there were rough and I was not very good with magic. So I turned my horn into something useful: a weapon." Lyra crossed her hooves, still hidden under the sheet. "We both grew up here in ponyville and we had the easiest time. We were friends the whole time and nothing bad ever happened." Bon Bon facehoofed, as if she was in pain from hearing the story. "Now come on, we need to go get breakfast." Lyra stayed still, shaking her head and moving the whole blanket with her. "No, not until you let me change." That was it, Bon Bon went red and was almost steaming. "Change? Into what, you have nothing to wear. I have nothing to wear. We. Wear. Nothing!" She now how both hooves firmly planted against her own face. "Fine, then I guess I'm going like this." The smug unicorn stood up and brushed past the earthpony, making sure to smack her with her tail. Bon Bon was left sitting on the floor, her hooves rubbing against her temples in hopes of getting rid of a headache. "I hate you Lyra." "Love you too, now hurry up. You don't want to make us late for this meeting." //-------------------------------------------------------// Name calling. //-------------------------------------------------------// Name calling. Call on Lyra Name calling. This is not so bad. If I can't see them, then they can't see me. Lyra smiled under her blanket, her head bobbing to the side as she followed the sounds of a very embarrassed Bon Bon. I wonder why she is in such a huffy mood, if anyone should not want to be seen its me. The unicorn stopped for a moment. O wait, I can't be seen! With that Lyra started bouncing after her friend, or at least, who she hoped was her friend. I wonder why Bon Bon went so quiet, am I really that bad of a pony to be around? The unicorn's walking slowed. She never thought about what other ponies would think of Bon Bon when they saw who she was friends with. Friends with a hyper unicorn. Noooo, its fine. She is my friend and I know she is fine with everything. "Isn't that right Bon Bon?" She spoke as if her friend was reading her mind. The sounds of hoofsteps changed as whoever was in front of her stopped. "Ooo, are we here Bon Bon? The town hall is a bit farther then I remember." Her eyes shrunk at the sound of a stallion clearing his throat. She immediately fell on her rump, red from embarrassment. Can't see me, can't see me. Please Celestia, at least don't let him recognize me. "Look, little filly. I'm not sure who this Bon Bon is, but I assure you I am not her." Clearly, she has a sweeter voice. The colt sounded a little ticked off, but all Lyra could think of was how far in the ground she could hide herself. "Please don't tell me you were planning on following me all the way to the meeting?" She was if he never said anything. He was looking at her now, she could feel it. He was trying to stab her right through her hiding blanket. "How about I just answer for you, you were not and will not. There you go." With a huff the rude colt was off, the sound of wings flapping showing that she was just scolded by a pegasus.  Lyra's tail swept at the dirt under her as she hung her head, gritting her teeth as she gently punched the dirt. Just one time, let me say something next time. Him of all ponies should have been the one. "I thought pegasi were nice ponies, not uptight jerks that can't even help a girl out. Can't see when somepony right in front of you is in a little trouble?" Well, she did manage to say something, even if it was to the empty sky. "You don't look like you are in that much trouble to me you weird pony." Bon Bon chimed in from behind, pulling the blanket away from the distraught unicorn. "Do you want to take this dumb thing off and get going now?" Lyra looked back with wet eyes, on the verge of tears. "Did you watch that the whole time Bon Bon?" The earthpony tilted her head, a little confused. "Yeah, whats so bad? I thought it was a little funny seeing you get a talking to by somepony else." "Bon Bon, you know I don't like being around other ponies, and that is why! You said it yourself, I'm weird and others don't like that." She sniffled and and wiped a hoof across her nose, able to fight back her tears the rest of the way. "Lyra... Don't beat yourself up so much. Besides, it was just one pony. Somepony I've never seen before at that." Bon Bon wrapped a leg around her friend's shoulders. "Who cares what he says anyway." "You're right, always are. Can we just get going to that meeting now? I don't want to cause a scene." Lyra gave a halfhearted chuckle, trying to cheer up. "Sure thing, but do you want to clean up a little?" "No, I'll be fine. Just hand me my blanket." She smiled and stood up, waving a hoof at her dirty sheet. "Don't tell me you are still wanting to go like that, after all it just caused." "I just want it, I won't be that bad anymore." Lyra took the blanket in her magic, folding it  a few times before wrapping it around her back. She may not be invisible anymore, but at least it could keep protecting her. The two friends set off a second time, making their way around the town. Lyra's face was still a bit red from the ordeal, with a bit of dirt here and there, but with her friend beside her things were a lot better. "By the way, do you know how to sew at all? I really don't want to have to throw this way, we have been through a lot." "The blanket? A lot... what? Om, I can't do it, but we will go get it done first thing after this meeting." Lyra let out a slight squee, hugging her friend. Getting the skip in her step back, the unicorn took the lead and bounced the rest of the way. Bon Bon could only rest her face in a hoof, not even trying to catch up with her newly energetic friend. //-------------------------------------------------------// Calling the meeting. //-------------------------------------------------------// Calling the meeting. Call on Lyra Calling the meeting. Lyra's mouth dropped as the two made their way into the town hall, using her magic to cling to her blanket. The size of the crowd was enough to make anypony nervous, let alone one as troubled as herself. All she could do was let her eyes wonder as she blocked the doorway: thankfully no one else was trying to get in. After a reassuring pat on the back from her good friend Bon Bon, Lyra could move again. It was harder to hear once they got the rest of the way inside. Everypony was chatting with each other and it formed a low roar. She could not tell what Bon Bon was saying, so all she could do was follower her. "... In the back... Twilight... safe." The earth pony pointed to the back of the room where there was an opening in the crowd. Our spots, got it. Now I guess she wants Twilight's help with something? I can do this. With that Lyra trotted off, wading through the other ponies. Okay Lyra, there are a lot of ponies here and you never got a look at his face. Which means that he never saw your's either! So you are safe. She was standing in the little opening in the very back., right up against the walls. Nopony else was in hoof's reach, she had the whole place to herself. This is not so bad, I did need to get out and see what was going on around town. I wonder what all these meetings will add up too. "Were is she, could she getting something for me? Is it a surprise?" The unicorn started prancing in place, hopping from one hoof to the other. I don't think I should be saying that out loud, people will think you are weird. "That is fine, no one can hear me if I stay quiet, but I don't think I've done anything for a surprise. Is it my birthday?" By now everypony was settling down and a few were taking their places in the front. Notably were the Mayor, Twilight and... Bon Bon! She does have something planned. Alright Lyra, don't get too happy. You don't even know why she is up there, other then to make sure you have the best surprise in all of Equestria! Lyra waved a hoof at the front stage, giving her friend a smile. She stood there, her hoof in the air for awhile as if she was trying to give her some other gesture of endearment. As it was though, it just looked like she was staring at her leg, or was she pointing? How can we tell what we are trying to do with our hooves? Was I pointing at her, or was I asking for a highhoof? Now Lyra was obsessed with that great looking hoof at the end of her leg. She had not treated them to a good day at the spa for a long time. Was she neglecting them? It is true that they were not the best looking hooves, or the strongest, but they were sturdy and got her wherever she was going. How could she be so cruel to the most necessary thing for a pony? Sure she had her magic, but that was not always as reliable. Her eyes started getting a little wet as she pulled her hoof closer, standing up on her hind legs and resting against the wall as she gave her leg a much deserved hug. "I guess we do have somepony for that, thank you Lyra." Mayor Mare's voice boomed through the now quiet town hall. The unicorn could only look in horror as everypony turned around and watched her. "I'm sure that you will do a great job, I think Pinkie Pie will help you get things started tomorrow." What did I just agree to do? Is it anything major? O no! All Lyra could do was slowly slide down into the wall and hope she would shrink enough for everypony to ignore her again. How long where they watching her for anyway? After her round of applause everypony turned back ahead to a rather happy Twilight behind the podium. That pony can be creepy when she gets excited about something. With her back still to the wall, the unicorn began inching towards the door. All she needed was the distraction to last a little longer and she could... Smack right into a rather upset pegasus. "Pardon you miss, don't you think you should wait until the speech is over?" The dull grey pony looked down at Lyra, the same gruff voice she heard from outside. "Wait, I guess you need to head out and prepare for things, then by all means, excuse me." Lyra was shocked at how nice this pony was being, since less then an hour ago he was one of the harshest things she had ever seen. She could still not take any chances, so with a simple nod she slipped past him. "And watch out for the pink one, she was a handful when I first showed up, I'd hate to see how she acts this time." So I'm in charge of welcoming someone to town now? Why can't Pinkie do it like always, she is already helping me out. What if this is... "Ooo Bon Bon, I'm going to get you back for this." In a huff the mare darted away from the town hall, making a B-line for Sugar Cube Corner. She needed all the help she could get, and she might as well start early. //-------------------------------------------------------// Long distance calls. //-------------------------------------------------------// Long distance calls. Call on Lyra Long distance calls It was not that hard to get lost in Ponyville, not because it was a big city, but because most of the buildings looked the same and one could easily get turned around. Fortunately, finding Sugar Cube Corner was not hard, just follow your nose. Really, it was a building made out of gingerbread and frosting, nopony should have a hard time finding this place. Lyra jumped back as the front door opened just before she knocked, a very hurried Ms. Cake pushing her way out with two babies saddled to her sides. "We can't be late, missing the train means we won't be back in time! Come one honey, get a move on!" The green mare could barely utter hello before the mom was off, letting Mr. Cake catch up. The overworked stallion followed with his head down, his hooves dragging him across the floor. "Pinkie is in charge for the next week or so, go ahead and take up any orders with her Heartstrings." The mare sat on her haunches as she watched the married couple before shrugging and making her way inside. Pinkie Pie was the reason she came here anyway, though now she was a bit curious on what was going on around town. "Don't worry about them, they always get like this when a big order comes in from famous ponies." The pink one appeared out of thin air behind Lyra, sending her rolling. "O, sorry Ly. I was sure you saw me. But yeah, some big musician is coming to town and the Cakes get to work the big snack table! Why would they only make a snack table though? I mean a lot of ponies would be there, or so I think That makes sense, at least I know who I am in charge of welcoming. Well, sort of know who it is, and now I know why Pinkie can't do it. "Do you know who this pony singer is?" Lyra brushed herself off as she stood up, making her way to the counter. "The Mayor says I get to be the one to welcome... her.. here. I assume she is a she." Pinkie only nodded at breakneck speeds. "Well, I only said musician Lyly, and that she is famous. It is hard to get the Cakes to talk when they are busy busy bees like that." The ball of cotton candy sat down on the cash register, crossing her hind legs and resting her chin on a hoof. "We should deduce this further." Lyra went to say something, instead she was just standing there pointing at Pinkie Pie. "I don't think you can use that word like that..." "Sure it is, my best best friend is Twilight Sparkle, remember? I'm sure I would learn a lot about words." Pinkie just snorted and fell backwards. Heartstrings waited for the "thud" that should follow, but there was nothing. "Pinkie, you okay?" She stretched her head over the counter, looking for her energetic friend, seeing only the wooden floor. "Here! I know what you need!" The pink one came bouncing down from upstairs with a warped gift balanced on her nose. "This may be the best party I planned, just find a the right place for it and open it!" How did she... "How did you... What?" "Just take it home and when it is time... You will know! Now go. Go set it up. Go go go go!" With that Lyra was shoved back out of the front door, gift on her back. So, I don't even get to plan the party? Just be there as the host? I guess that is fine, I can't be in charge of things anyway. Better make sure Bon Bon is okay with having it there, better yet, let her just find out the hard way. "What kind of music would she do anyway, and do you play her own music at her parties? Would that make her shallow or rude? Maybe she is just that good. Well her fans would show up, but I don't want to make it feel like a concert or something like it. Why did you do this to me Pinkie? ... And the Mayor... But mostly Bon Bon. I'll get you my pretty." I'm weird, I need to not monologue in public anymore. Her ears went low as she looked around, thankfully not seeing any other ponies around. "Still at the meeting, thank Celestia. No... stop it Lyra! Stop it now! Ahhh!" Picking up the present with her magic the unicorn ran for the house, she needed to be away from the public right now.
