Failed Spells and Unsent Letters

Previous Chapter

Tears began to fall from the lavender mare's eyes as she stepped away from the painstakingly drawn circle. The circle was surrounded by arcane runes and conduits to direct magical energy. This had been the last chance for Ponyville's own resident librarian, Twilight Sparkle. This circle was a summoning circle. One that would bring a being from one reality to another, a being that held all of the traits the runes called for.

Twilight began to shudder with uncontrollable sobs as she curled up on the floor while stroking her tail in an attempt to console herself. This had been her last shot at getting help. Her last conceivable plan of action. Ever since casting those dark spells in the crystal kingdom she had been remembering issues long forgotten. She remembered the way Rainbow Dash had always teased her. And most of all she remember how all of her friends, her brother and even her teacher had abandoned her when she had accused her old foalsitter, Cadance, of being evil.

All of these events had been kindling the darkness had been the spark that ignited it. Now all that Twilight could feel was rage toward all of her friends, toward her brother, toward her assistant Spike, and toward her teacher Princess Celestia. This is why she had made the summoning attempt. She needed a being that had been where she is right now, one that had dealt with its inner darkness and had overcome it.

But this mattered little as she had failed. Slowly Twilight approached her desk, took out a quill and began to write eight identical letter differing only in the recipients. One for Shining Armour, one for Celestia, and one for each of her five friends, and one for spike. Each told of how she felt abused, used and abandoned by each of them and how the darkness inside of her caused all of these feelings to grow exponentially. She went on to say that she would be leaving Equestria to find answers, and not to look for her as they would not find her. She signed her name,

Regretfully Yours,

Twilight Sparkle

Twilight sealed the letters and cast a spell that would cause the letters to appear to their intended recipients in twenty-four hours leaving plenty of time to get away before Rainbow Dash inevitably began to search for her. She opened her door and began to walk to the train station to buy a one-way ticket. That is, until she heard a scream.

The ottsel and the rabbit were causing an epic battle in the animal filled cottage. Punching, kicking, biting, nothing was off-limits to the two combatants. Mr. Bear who was watching through the window began to place odds on the outcome (almost 50/50). The intense clash would have ended in mutually assured destruction, if not for the timely entrance of a timid light yellow pegasus with pink hair who had come to check up on her newest, little critter.
