Just Because I'm the Element of Laughter...

I stood glumly behind Sugarcube Corner's counter. Another weekend had come and I had nopony to hang out with. Sure, I was known for my amazing parties but that didn't mean I had any actual friends. Most of the ponies who came I had no idea who they were. Yet, I was always bubbly happy to everypony.
A large sigh I released echoed in the empty bakery. Lately I had caught myself daydreaming of a certain pegasus.
At one of my parties sometime in the past week, a unicorn I knew named Rarity had brought two of her friends with her, a cyan pegasus and an earth pony wearing a stetson. Although I had seen her around Ponyville many times before, something about the pegasus pulled my attention. And my heartstrings. She was all I could think about.
Her mane was so colorful; the loose strands of rainbow blowing around her... her attitude was cool and collected but relaxed and humorous at the same time. Even though she didn't socialize that much, sitting in a chair listening to music, she was definately the type of pony who liked to have fun.
I shook my head, snapping myself out of my daydream. There was something I could do today. I stepped from behind the counter and left Sugarcube Corner. I was going to find the cyan pegasus. Her name was... Rainbow Dash? Yeah, that was it.
I bounced excitedly as I trotted over to Derpy's post office. Who better to ask where a pony lived then Derpy the mailmare?
"Derpy!" I called out cheerily. The bell dinged from the door as I entered. No answer came.
Maybe she's out delivering mail? I walked slowly along the mail wall. The names on the boxes were half worn off. "Derpy?!"
A crash came from the post office roof causing me to jump. After a moment I stepped back outside. Derpy was sitting on the roof looking very derped indeed.
"Derpy!" I giggled. "What ARE you doing up there?!"
The mailmare shrugged and stepped forward, causing herself to totter off the roof and fall into the bushes below. Her wings flapped a little late. "I tried to give Rainbow her mail but..." Derpy shrugged again. "... I just don't know what went wrong!"
I perked up at Rainbow's name. My heart fluttered. "Where is she?"
"Who?"
"Rainbow!"
A dark shadow appeared on the ground between us and a split second later, the cyan pegasus was standing in front of me. I swear my heart stopped. She was so beautiful.
"I kept hearing my name, what's the deal?"
Derpy struggled out of the bush and gave Rainbow her mail. I simply stood there and stared smiling at my dream pony standing before me. I was definately blushing. Never had I been so glad my coat was pink. The mailmare flew off down the road and crashed into something as Rainbow chuckled at the fanmail she was reading. Somehow I regained my voice.
"So Rainbow..."
The magnificent magenta eyes turned toward me making my heart thud. "Yeah?"
"Wanna hang or something? We could totally go to my place!" I babbled, nervously pulling up some of my cheerful bubbliness. The hint of flirting either went completely over her head or was just ignored.
"No thanks Pinkie. I gotta go practice napping. See ya!" With that she flew off in a wondrous burst of rainbow. My mane flattened slightly. I felt my heart aching, urging me to go follow her in my balloon to see if she wanted to hang out tomorrow or something. I shook my head, my rejected heart sending a few tears to my eyes.
"Well hiya Sugarcube!"
I turned to see a smiling orange mare with a cowgirl hat watching me. "Yah look kinda sad. Yah want some company?"

I lay on my bad with my eyes closed. I was thinking back on these last eight months.
It was because of Applejack that I got accepted into that awesome group of friends: Rarity, Fluttershy, Applejack...Rainbow Dash..., and Twilight joined us too.
Thinking of Rainbow still sent my heart aflutter.
That was kind of funny. That week after Rainbow first shot me down. I spent so much time with Applejack. The country mare was open and fun to be with. She surprised me so that day when she asked if I’d be her special somepony.
I felt myself blush slightly at the memory.
I had agreed and gradually grew to love Applejack. She was always there to cheer me up and make sure I was okay. We had so much fun.
I sighed and squeezed my eyes tighter shut.
Lately she’s so irritable. I know things are getting hard over at Sweet Apple Acres but... We had our first argument a little while ago. Applejack’s been putting so much on me... I hope she realizes I can’t take much more...
I felt a tear coming.
Fights every day since then...
More tears burned behind my eyelids. I took a deep breath.
Rainbow’s been nicer to me at least. Being in this group of friends has at least let us get to know each other. A slight smile came to my face. And tonight is going to be awesome.
I opened my eyes and grinned. Tonight was the opening party for the Club Pon3. I bounced off my bed and over to my mirror. This was going to be the best party ever!
I reached for the skeleton key necklace on the table then stopped. The key meant a lot to me. It had two red gems attached to it, symbolizing Applejack’s apples in her cutie mark. I had a key too. My key had two blue gems representing my balloons on my cutie mark. We had traded them, telling other ponies that they were the keys to our hearts. Applejack had mine and I had hers. We always wore them. I reached again for the necklace then stopped myself.
This was going to be one major party. I didn’t want to lose the key by accident. Applejack had no interest in tonight’s party and had made it clear she was not going to attend.
She’s won’t be there. It’s okay. She’d understand. So I left the room, leaving Applejack’s key on my table.
I rushed down to Club Pon3 in excitement. By the time I arrived the party had started and the place was packed. The music could be heard from outside and the bass could be felt to the outskirts of Ponyville. I saw many ponies I knew and hopped from one group to another. The night was going well so far.
And then I saw her.
Of course she came, the coolest pony in Equestria. Rainbow Dash was standing in a group of her own friends. Excitedly I began to walk toward them then stopped. What if her friends say something to her about me? My heart ached in fear. Rainbow surprised me by flying over to me.
“Hey Pinkie! Great party last week! Much better than this!” She laughed lightly. Celestia I loved her laugh. “Why don’t we go somewhere not so loud?!”
I just nodded happily. Rainbow and I managed to reach the doors and exited the club. She led me a little ways away and we sat down in the grass.
At first there was a slightly awkward silence but soon I was making my usual quirky comments, making the pegasus laugh. After a few minutes Rainbow put a hoof around me, wrapping me under one of her wings shyly, which was completely unlike her.
I don’t stammer but.... “Wh...what are you...” ...There’s a first for everything. My heart thumped so loudly in my chest, I was sure one would hear it over the bass.
She shrugged. “You’re cold.” It was true. Even as she said it I realized I was shivering from the nip in the air.
“Oh.”
Suddenly Rainbow turned to me. I felt warmth rush through my body. She was so close our muzzles almost touched. Her voice was soft and gentle, unlike her usual challenging, disinterested voice.
“I just want you to know...”
Rainbow kissed me gently. Applejack had kissed me many times before, from gently to lustfully. Never had my heart fluttered like it did now. The kiss was short but amazing.
She pulled back. “I love you.”
Rainbow loves me!
I simply stared at her a moment. All thoughts of Applejack flew from my mind. Rainbow had finally said the words I had always wanted to hear.
I smiled at her.
My heart felt complete.

Yes. I had to rewrite it. The original was not intended to be something I focused on but the story has somewhat evolved to that status. There was no way for me to continue the original very well. Solution? REWRITE. I hope this is better written than the last version.
