Sir Vandrid, a knight from a distant kingdom, believes Equestria to be a land of harmony and peace. The old legends say that it is paradise, where the tranquility is matched only by the kindness of its inhabitants.

That, unfortunately, is not the Equestria Sir Vandrid discovers. Rather, he finds himself thrust into a forsaken land decimated by plague and wracked by war. Seeing the pallor of despair that has fallen over the surviving ponies, the brave knight takes it upon himself to find their lost princesses and restore order to the realm.

It's a task tantamount to suicide…but Sir Vandrid is no stranger to hopeless quests.
