The Crystal fair

One blue alicorn yawned as she woke up, stretching her wings. Wings, with feathers that were bright, rose red at the ends. She shook her mane, royal purple, with rose red and dark blue spinning though it. With a smile she climbed out of bed, landing on hooves the same rose red as in her mane, and on her feathers.

She trotted happily to her window, the sun was rising, not a cloud in the sky. This was going to be a wonderful Crystal fair. She waved at one of the early risers, Dawn Leaf, who now went to tend the castle gardens for the fair. She tuned to her room, and thought, as she always did at this time of year, about the beginnings of the Crystal empire, and the fair.

A small group of ponys walked, smiling, talking, up river, to the north. They carried many supplies, tents, food, seeds. The sun was setting, and soon they would stop to set up camp. After camp was set up, they sat in groups of 6 or 7, talking, telling storys. One them sugests they stop traveling, make this place home. Water, foragable food, trees. It was perfect. The idea spreads quickly, and in the morning it is decided. They will form a village here, a place to call home.

They became very busy, very fast. Magicly opperated saws take down trees, berries and nuts are gathered, and within days it looks like the start of a village.

After about a month, almost all the house are complete. Some of the ponys worked together to make a farm are for the berries.

They were all Crystal ponys. With coats like gems, they glinted in the light. All Crystal ponys could do magic, like Unicorns, but they were not as powerful, nor did any of them have wings, or a horn.

The true beginnings of the crystal ponys however, take us back a few hundred years before.

"Hey, boss! Take a look at this!" A brown stallion with a lightning blue mane, and a lump of iron for a cutie mark, shouted.

"What this time Burnt Iron? We got a schedual to maintain!" A rusty red stallion with a grey mane, and a pickaxe hitting a lump of coal for a cutie mark, replied.

"I found something, come take a look!"

"Let me guess, a rock?"

"Naw, its some kinda gem."
