Bonus Chapter! Deleted Scenes

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

Author's Note

Now, for all of you who are into this sort of thing, this is the bonus chapter. It's almost completely unrelated to the actual storyline, and could be considered an alternate to the actual plot that I never finished. Here you will find my notes, cut-out scenes and my thoughts on why they didn't make it - None of it has been spell checked by the way, so if you spot an error, ignore it. It's also a place for me to thank all of the readers who have read this story. All of these notes originate from my phone, where I started writing the story in my spare time. This is also going to boost my word count by a ridiculous amount, which I kinda feel bad about doing.

This is the pre-pre-read of chapter one. I'm going to cut out parts too similar to what is already in the current chapter. It's filled with terrible spelling, horrific grammar and a few things I can't remember writing - Probably due to not being sober for the large majority of writing it. What? I didn't have any form of education for six weeks, so I used my time time wisely and got wasted.

I live a typical life as a sixteen year old, school work is heavy, most of my time is spent on the internet and I play a lot of video games. The only real difference is that I'm a brony, a fan of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Most people would think that's a pretty weird thing for a teenager to like and I agree, but a quick check of the web and it's quite common. In fact, bronies have quite the age range. Ever since I watched the first episode out of curiosity, I've been hooked. This, however has left me wanting too much. The thought that my life would be so much happier in Equestria has crossed my mind often, but the thoughts of leaving my loved ones behind is too much. This is quite a pathetic thing to hear in reality, but it's gone far enough for me to hug my pillow at night, pretending it's one of the characters from the show just to comfort myself. On some nights it's bad enough for me to cry myself to sleep.

This leads me on pretty well... [You guys have read this part, it's pretty much exactly how the official chapter goes, so I'm skipping ahead]

I sat her down on the guest bed in my room and hugged her tightly. "Hey, it's going to be alright, I'll get you home one way or another" I look her in the eyes and lie to her as I had no idea how to get her back to Ponyville. In all honesty at the time, I didn't care if she went home or not. I was selfishly living my own brony dream. Rainbow Dash, the cyan pegasus, was in my room and the best part was that I was holding her in my arms. She seemed to cheer up after I told her this wasn't the Rainbow I know. "What happened to the coolest, awesomest, most radicle pony in Equestria? This isn't you Dashie" "Hey! Only two people I know can call my that, and you're not one of them!" She tells me with a teary smile.

[You've read the part about the comb, so by the magic of the author, I call thee 'skipped'!]

Girly moment over, I ask "So what are we going to do with you then" "I don't know... you could show me around the area?"
"That's a brilliant idea, but it's only 8 'o' clock and I don't want to wake anyone up" "Only eight? We could go back to sleep?" "Hmm... I like that idea. Do you want to use my bed or this one?" I said, pointing out the options.
She looked at me with a raised eyebrow and pokes me in the arm with a hoof. "What are you getting at?" I looked back at her with a confused look on my face and then it hit me, how... strange, to put it... what I just said was. "Ooohhh" I replied as I brought a hand to my forehead, "it wasn't meant to sound like that. I was going to take the other bed to what you chose". To my suprise, she told me she doesn't really mind as it was cold in my room and she needed the warming up. "No funny stuff, otherwise I'll backhoof you harder than one of Applejacks' bucks" is her only warning. I tell her the most that will happen is that I'll end up hugging her in my sleep, to which she seemed fine with as it was cold.
[The ending is the same, so I'm cutting it out and ending this here]

Yeah, bad isn't it? That's why I dedicated half a day to editing it as I typed it up from my phone. Personally, I don't really like it that much as Rainbow's character seems to accept Alex awfully quickly. I know that he was just trying to be a good host and treat his favourite pony well, but it's a little unlike R.D. to just suddenly become friends with someone (The same can be applied to the official version, but I don't want to go and change it so it fits the characters better without ruining the story. If I wanted to make Dash act more like Dash that chapter, I would say it would of taken until chapter two for her to warm up at least). The part about the crying is also pretty weird, so I left it out for the sake of not sounding like the OC NEEDS ponies to survive.

Chapter two, how I suffered when I wrote this. I just happened to be struck by a large bout of writers block when I was writing this, which unfortunately affected my school-work as well. It's not as bad as the un-edited chapter one, but required three re-writes to become what is now know as 'Kitchen Curiosity'. Damn, I feel professional just by writing this.

Chapter 2 - 1

My alarm clock woke me up at 10:00, just like it was meant to on the weekends. I lazily opened an eye to find that one of the best moments of my life was just a dream ant that my pillow had just ruptured in the night. I managed to slink my way out of bed to get to the top of the stairs, just to hear my mother in the kitchen. "Ugh, why are you even awake?" I said aloud. The one thing I hate in the morning is to wake up and know I have to be social. I made my way downstairs and walked into the kitchen. Still half-asleep I made my way to the cupboards and gathered everything I needed to make breakfast, not noticing the third living thing in the kitchen. "What?" I asked, as my mum and another voice giggled at me. "What? What's so funny?" I asked louder yet again, expecting an explanation as I poured the milk into my bowl.

"Turn around" I hear the second voice say. My neck cranked around, to give my eyes a chance to register who the voice actually belongs to.

"Morning sleepy-head" passes through my ears while my eyes lock onto a set of rose coloured ones.

"WHAT THE FU..." screams through the house as my brain actually registers that a certain cyan pegasus was ACTUALLY still in my now-not-so-humble abode.

"Oww... my ears..." Rainbow whined.

"HOooooly shi..." is my reply as my brain lets me know that I wasn't dreaming earlier. "Sorry..." I reply to Rainbow Dash as she looks at me with a frown on her face. "I... wha... Sorry. I thought what happened earlier was a dream".

"Sleep well then, Alex?" I hear my mother say, startling me WAY more than it should have. I turn to her and realize my own mother was in the same room as Rainbow Dash.

"HOLY shi..." I scream again. Fuck, Mum and Rainbow Dash are in the same room passed through my head, along with around ten more curses and swear-words.

"She's told me everything that happened in your room this morning".

"Umm... Morning mum." I was wondering if I was still asleep. "How many people are there in this room, dear mother?"

"Two", is her answer, "...and one pony". Ugh, why me?

"I take it that you two have already got acquainted then?"

"Yeah, your mom is a nice person, you should have told me sooner" Dash replied.

More snickering came from Rainbow and my mother's direction. "So how... why are you up early, Rainbow?" I fumbled for words as my brain was having a melt-down. I attempted to ignore the two as I went to eating my breakfast, trying to figure out a way to explain this to mum.

"She's told you everything?" I asked my mother.

"Yep, nice to know that you're kind enough to treat Dash well after finding her in the guest bed in such a way". Thank Celestia Rainbow didn't tell her absolutely everything. Being a proper gentleman, I explain, I would help all women in distress no matter what species they are. After notifying my mother of this, she seemed to ease up on the giggling. "Rainbow Dash?"

"Yes, Alex?"

"We need to talk later."

"Ok, can't see why not?" Rainbow told me, with a large grin on her face having recovered from my shouting.

An hour after waking up to find my mother and favourite pony in the kitchen, I was sitting in the living-room with the two. "So where are the others?" I enquire, to which my mother's reply was that my farther had work today, my older brother left early to go see his girlfriend. "So we're the only two people in the house then?"

"Yeah, and your pony friend here" I'm told, as mum gestured over to Rainbow.

"Please don't tell anyone mum. The less people who know, the better".

"Less people who know what dear?" She replied with a wink.

With my bizzare morning over, I headed upstairs to find Rainbow lounging in my bed. She noticed me enter the room, and said "So when am I getting a tour of the are?"

"Tomorrow morning, on my morning cycle"

"But that means getting up early!"

"no-one will be awake then, meaning you wont get spotted." [End of this chapter]

Chapter 2 - 2
[The start of this cut chapter is the same up until the 'is this your house?' part , so I'm staring it from there]
"No", I replied, "Actually, that reminds me, we need to keep it down. My mum is still asleep". I jumped into my fathers recliner, kicking up the foot rest to get comfy. Rainbow Dash was sitting in the armchair opposite to where I was sitting. Commonsense.exe failed to load in my brain after finding Rainbow Dash in my kitchen, causing me to just sit and stare at the blue mare.

Dash pipped up after a solid minute of silence. "So... what's this world like?"

"Umm... I'd rather not say right now. I'll tell you later though." I said worryingly. Shit - Curious about Earth already. Compared to Equestria, Earth is Hell. How could I tell her that without ruining her first time here? "I will tell you one thing though."

"Yeah, what is it?"

"Don't ever use a computer. Don't ask why, but if anyone wants to show you the 'internet', decline the offer. Unless I'm there it's always a bad idea."

Her face screwed up a little as she tried to comprehend what my warning meant. "What's an internet? Or a computer?"

"That thing over there" I said, pointing towards the machine in the corner.

"It doesn't look that bad" Dash replied, curiously looking at the computer in question.

"It is. Just trust me on this one" I told her, with a stern look upon my face. It seemed my comment ended that conversation - I was glad it did really. What I wanted to know was why she wasn't as fazed by her situation as she was when we first met. Did she really think I could get her home? "Why are you so calm about all of this?"

"I've been here before, just..." Dash trailed off. I must have struck a nerve as her smile shrank a little. "I knew this man... He raised me as his own..."

"PLEASE. STOP. I'VE READ THIS BEFORE." Tears started to from around my eyes as the saddest fanfic I've ever read was actually true. I felt so sorry for Rainbow Dash right then, I instinctively did what I did to anypony I had met - hug them until they felt better. My inner squee nearly exploded from it though.

"Better again?" This was becoming too common. "Yeah, thanks. Again."

So let me set the scene for you. I've woken up with Rainbow Dash in my bed, thinking it was a dream. Then I went downstairs to find it actually happened. Now I'm sat next to the pegasus with my logic and mind slowly receding from a lack of real. So far, this morning has been fun!

"You gonna move back over or just sit there with that look on your face?" Rainbow smirked, obviously feeling better after I dug up some memories.

"Hey, you should just be glad I've been acting so nice. I'm such a grump in the morning", I teased, getting her to relax even more. After shifting around in the couch we were sharing, I was more comfortable.

"I thought I told you to move?"

"Why would I? This is the best chair in the room" I replied with a smile. She didn't seem to pleased about her loss of space and moved over to the large sofa in the centre of the room. "Aww... I was enjoying sitting next to you..." I put on the best puppy-dog face I could muster up in an attempt to get her to move back.

"Not gonna work squirt" Rainbow replied, causing me to drop the act. [the chapter ends here. I felt that the 'My Little Dashie' reference was a good idea at the time, but thinking back to it, it was a bad idea. Actually, can anyone notice the INCREDIBLY subtle 'MLD' references I've been putting in throughout each chapter? There's almost one per chapter - see if you can spot them!]

***

These could of potentially been the cannon storyline, but I changed my mind after each time I 'finished' the chapter. It seemed too... Unlike... I can't think of the reason why I didn't use them, they just didn't seem to work with what I was feeling. That's writers block for you. There was also the factor of introducing the OC's mother, which I didn't really want to do as it would of played havoc with a part coming up in chapter 6. SPOILERS.

Chapter three was a pain to write, but not as bad as chapter two because the writers block had started to clear up. This isn't really and entire chapter so to say, just a section of it that didn't make it. You will be able to note similarities in the official chapter though. It takes place after Alex has just walked through the door with the plastic bag on show.

***

"So what's in the bag?"

"Only some energy drinks" I told Rainbow.

"Really? Can I have one?" Rainbow Dash poked at the plastic bag with her hoof, causing it to swing in my hand.

"Sorry Dash, but there is no way I'm letting you have any of this." Thoughts of Rainbow Dash managing to create a Sonic Rainboom just from walking were going through my head. The 250ml cans would get anyone buzzing, but Rainbow Dash after a litre of the stuff would be bad - I shuddered at the thought.

"Aww, why not?" Dash asked, pouting her lower lip in an attempt to guilt me into giving her a bottle.

"Because this stuff is dangerouse in large amounts. Considering you've never had any energy drink before, a litre of this stuff", I said while pointing to the bag, "would be lethal - That and the fact I don't want to chase after you when you shoot off at a 1000 miles per hour."

All of a sudden Dash squinted her eyes at the bag. "100 miles per hour? Hmm..."

"Don't even think about it."

"Think about what?" Dash replied, snapping back to her usuall (INSERT DESCRIPTION HERE) [Yeah, those are the actual words I typed out at the time] self.

***

I didn't like the way this turned out. Rainbow Dash seemed more out of character than I had wanted, along with the fact I couldn't think of a way to describe her in one word. From pretty much here onwards I did all of my writing on the computer and have no other notes to copy up from my phone, resulting in no more notes/chapters like the ones above.

Well, I bet most of you stopped reading after you passed the half-way mark of the unedited chapter one, but for those of you who made it this far: I congratulate you! You've managed to read through the entire bonus chapter! I would like to thank you for making it this far.

Anyway, on a more serious note, I would like to thank everyone who has read my story. I genuinely didn't expect it to be accepted by the community this well, and was surprised when I saw that my poor attempt at chapter one had passed the initial inspection. Every time I saw a positive comment (which you need to post more of by the way) made by anyone I smiled and was encouraged to write more. I usually expect little of everything I write, so I'm not kidding when I said I smiled. I do hope that this story makes Equestria Daily, but the chances of that happening are slim until I finish the whole thing due to the 3000+ words per chapter requirement. I plan on writing a whole lot more for this, and maybe boost the word-count of each chapter to 2000 if I ever get the time, as what I've written so far is just the beginning. I'm not lying when I said 'life gets changed' in the description.
