On a calm night in the Canterlot Castle med-clinic, a grey alicorn with a silver mane and silver eyes is lying in one of the beds. Lost in thought interrupted by frequent coughing, his train of thought is cut-off when a green unicorn wearing a white lab coat entered the room and walked toward him.

"Evening Silver Fire," said the unicorn giving the alicorn a short greeting.

"Evening Chemical Formula," said Silver Fire greeting the unicorn pony.

"How are you feeling?" asked Chemical Formula.

"Like I'm dying," answered Silver Fire.

"I have some bad news for you," said the green pony with a dejected look on his face.

"What is it?" asked Silver Fire with a concerned tone.

"You are dying," said chemical with a cheerless look on his face.

"I was afraid you would say that," said Silver Fire with a somber tone in his voice.

"What about my wife, is Celestia alright?" asked Silver changing the subject to take his mind off of his death.

"Well as you know she went into labor about twelve hours ago, but...," he paused for a moment.

"But... what?" asked Silver Fire with a baffled and uneasy tone in his voice.

"But... I haven't heard anything since," said Chemical with a doleful tone "But I'm sure she's alright," changing his tone with a very optimistic sound to it.

As he finished his sentence another pony entered the room.

"Sorry to interrupt you Doctor, but I have something important for Silver Fire," said the pony who just entered. Chemical turns around to see the pony, wondering who it could be. Standing at the entrance is a pegasus wearing the armor of the Royal Guard with two crossed swords for his cutie mark.

"Oh, hello Thunder Clash," said Chemical. "You weren't interrupting anything."

"What do you have for me Sergeant?" said Silver curious as to what Thunder Clash could have for him.

"It's your wife sir, she just came out of labor," said the pegasus as Silver Fire coughed up a little bit of blood.

He didn't say anything for a few moments as he used his magic to levitate a piece of paper, a quill, and a bottle of ink from the table next to the bed in front of him and began writing something on the paper. As he finished writing he set the quill in the ink bottle, rolled up the paper, and levitated it to Thunder Clash

"Take this to her," said Silver as he coughed up more blood.

"Yes sir," said Thunder as he gave a salute, grabbed the paper and tucked it under his wing and left the room.  After Thunder Clash left the room Silver Fire began coughing softly but it gradually became more violent with more blood coming out. Silver Fire slowly lied down on the bed as the coughing became softer and softer until it was barely audible. He rested his head on the pillow and closed his eyes. After a few moments Chemical checked his pulse. After a few more moments he let out a melancholy sigh, took the blanket and put it over Silver Fire's head with only the tip of his horn left showing and left the room.

In Princess Celestia's bed chamber, she lays in her bed holding her newborn foal as several of her most trusted ponies on the castle staff monitor her condition and tend to her needs. The newborn foal is a colt with a grayish-brown coat and a jet-black mane wrapped up in a blanket being held in his mothers hooves.

"What will you name him, your majesty?" asked one of the ponies.

"I don't know," said Celestia answering the pony's question.

In that moment Thunder Clash entered the room with the letter still tucked under his wing.

"Yes, Sergeant?" asked the Princess taking her attention away from the foal.

"I have a letter from your husband," said Thunder as he took the letter out from under his wing.

Celestia uses her magic to levitate the letter from Thunder to her, she unrolls it, and began to read it. After a few moments the expression on her face was replaced with shock and grief. As she was reading the last sentence she was about to break down into tears, however she found a little comfort in what was written after the signature that read "Possible names for our foal, Colt- Mountain Stream, Filly- Dawn Flower." After reading it she looked at her foal with a few tears still running down her cheeks.

"Mountain Stream, that's a good name for him," said Celestia giving a small smile.

After a few moments she ordered the ponies in the the room to leave and giving a bow or salute they left the room.

As the door closed she set Mountain Stream in a crib that one of the ponies brought to the room, still sound asleep as she set him down. She got out the bed and walked out to the balcony at the other side of the room. As she stood on the balcony enjoying the cool night breeze, she looked at the moon with the same head shaped crater pattern that she had seen every night for almost a thousand years.

"Luna... I need you now more than ever," said the Princess as a tear ran down her cheek.

After staring at the moon for what seemed like forever, she went inside, lied down on her bed, and cried herself to sleep.
