"Now on Top Gear," Rutledge's unmistakable voice was heard saying
There was the familiar black hood of the Porsche, the rolling racing truck, the ultimate off road vehicle speeding through the plains and Stig skydiving, then the scene shifted to an explosion of fire, then the red Cadillac was seen.
"We find out which is the best pony car."
Tanner was seen in a car next to an invisible driver while constantly saying: "BRAKE! BRAKE! BRAKE!"
"And the winner gets to race the newest of the pony cars against actual ponies."
A red Mustang GT was seen racing against an invisible opponent.
The scene shifts to a red AMC Javelin crashing through a cement wall, derbis were flying everywhere while Tanner and Rutledge's clearly audible yells of excitement were heard.
"Will anyone make it out alive?"
The scene shifts to the signature intro of most Top gear shows, first showing Tanner Faust donning shades in what looked to be a Shelby Cobra.
Then there was the black Dodge Ram with the shed falling off it's back, then the scene shifted to Rutledge Wood standing there, arms crossed with a barely noticeable smile on his face.
Then the famous Cadillac CoupeDeville was seen taking flight, then landing and popping out one of it's rims. The scene then shifted once again to Adam Ferrara sitting on a car.
The final scene depicted them standing together, various vehicles behind them accompanied by an explosion and the usual Top Gear sign.
Then the it cut to a fast forwarded view of a casual sunrise. Complete with grass blowing at high speeds.
"Top Gear had sent us out to Black Bear Pass to see which pony car was the best, but there was a catch, we wouldn't be driving. We would first drive 20 miles away to the Cozy Home motel where we would meet our drivers by morning. I was the first to arrive." Rutledge narrated
A red car was seen pulling up to the parking lot. It had a white stripe running down the middle. Rutledge got out and placed a hand on the hood of the automobile.
"This is the 1965 Plymouth Barracuda. It went on sale April 1, 1964. Just two weeks before the Mustang came out. It wasn't exactly favored back in the day, but I'm here to clear it's rep."
Rutledge turned his attention to a car that had just arrived to the parking lot. Tanner stepped out of the white car, a smug grin on his face.
"Of course you'd choose a fast car." Rutledge said
"The 1968 Chevrolet Camaro. Went on sale during the 1967 model year. Famous for it's power. Why not?"
"I think it's clear who made the better decision."
"Yea, I chose a pony car and you brought a fish car."
"Sure it has a bad rep and all but it was just a great idea at the wrong time."
"What do you think Adam got?"
Before Rutledge could answer a red car cruised into the parking lot. It parked right next to Rutledge's Barracuda. The driver, Adam, stepped out.
"So, whaddya think fellas?"
The other two hosts snickered as they stared at the monstrosity Adam had brought. It was a 1969 AMC Javelin. It looked like it was in need of a car wash, but other than that it was fine.
"And I thought Rutledge made horrible decisions." Tanner snickered
"Gentlemen, you clearly have a horrible taste in cars. This is a legend, Not a one-hit-wonder like your Camaro. And it ain't no fish car like the Barracuda."
"Alright, what are we doing?"
Tanner pulled out a white envelope from his pocket and opened it.
"Before you take your pony cars out for a challenge, you will meet up at the Cozy Home motel where you will find the twist in this challenge."
Rutledge and Adam shot each other surprised looks.
"What do you think they're gonna do?" Rutledge asked
"Probably lock tigers in the cars with us." Adam replied
The three host got in their cars and set out. The scene shifted to a digital map, showing the route of their journey.
"We would first check in at the Cozy Home Motel where we were granted a full 24 hours of rest. Then in the morning Top Gear would send us our twist."
The scene shifted to Adam in his Javelin, clearly happy about his choice of cars.
"This is the best choice I have ever made. Period. I mean, even Gordon Johncock liked this thing. It won the Trans-Am racing series. I'm going to smoke the competition considering I'm going up against Mermaid Man and his Barracuda. The Camaro on the other hand might be a bit of a problem, but nothing a little sabotage can't handle." Adam said into the camera
Suddenly Tanner was seen instead, in his Camaro. He looked pretty confident.
"I'm actually surprised no one else showed up in the Camaro. It was a huge part back in the days in the street racing scene, back when rebellious teenagers were as common as clothes. With it's huge power I'm pretty confident I'm gonna walk away with the win." Tanner said
The camera cuts to Rutledge in his Barracuda.
"Okay, when someone says the term pony car the Barracuda doesn't come into mind. But this is the car that would eventually evolve into the monster it was known for. It was just a bad economy at the time, and with my help I'm going to put it back where it belongs. At the top." Rutledge concluded
The three cars were seen going along the roads. They eventually arrived at the motel where they checked in and immediately went to work on modifying their cars. The sun went down as the three hosts rested for the night.
The next morning, Tanner was sitting on his car, a cup of coffee in his hand. Without the slightest bit of worry in him. Rutledge soon joined him alongside Adam.
"So, when are the producers going to send us our "surprise"?"
"Should be soon." Adam replied
Sure enough a white semi truck was seen travelling along the roads. It pulled into the motel's driveway and slowed to a halt. The three host stared at the container that it was towing.
"Gentlemen, we will have to teach whoever is in that trailer, to drive." Adam said
"Don't they know how to drive already?"
"Probably not."
The three men looked at the trailer, anxious to see what was behind those closed metal doors.
"So, who wants the honors?" Adam said
Rutledge stepped up and placed a hand on the lock. He unlocked it causing the lock to fall to the ground. Rutledge stepped back as the doors slowly swung open, a fine mist was flowing out the dark container. Nothing was visible through the darkness, the three hosts stared in confusion.
"Um, is this some kind of joke?" Tanner said
Soon enough, the sound of something hard pounding against the steel floor of the trailer was heard. The team waited nervously as the sound grew louder and louder. Eventually it's owner stepped into the sunlight. Revealing it's true identity.
It was a technicolor pony.
They were going to teach technicolor ponies to drive. One of them was cyan blue with wings, she also had a rainbow ,mane. The other was completely pink, and the third one was an orange mare with a yellow mane followed by a Stetson hat.
This can go wrong in so many ways.
