There was barely any activity, except for a certain lavender unicorn. Twilight Sparkle of all unicorns, was not only up in the dead of night, but she was in Canterlot at that time of night. Harth's Warming Eve was coming again, and Twilight wanted to give a gift to each of her friends, Pinkie Pie would've normally did this because she loved to see her friends smile, but after all it was the season of giving, and Twilight really liked her friends, Fluttershy was the only pony left now, she got her other friends presents in Ponyville, but she wanted to get Fluttershy something really special, not that her other friends weren't special, they were all equal to her, but after all with just the motivation to do something for a friend, this was about the most random thing somepony could do, especially for Twilight. She was in a shop district of the kingdom, as she expected, most of the buildings were quiet and dark, but there was one place in particular that seemed to be open. It was not really a building, but more of a staircase down beneath the ground. Twilight walked down the set of stairs and found a stallion about as old as Granny Smith and a young colt in the shop, both earth ponies. "Hello." Twilight said "Hi there." The colt said answered back, but the old stallion was silent. There were strange noises coming from another part of the shop. "I was just looking for a present for one of my friends, do you mind if I take a look around?" "Not at all." The colt answered again as more sounds came from another room Twilight looked around the shops, to find old antiques and other old things, until she made it to the room where the sounds she heard came from. Twilight found a cardboard box and opened it up. "What is this thing?" Twilight asked with a smile on her face. It was the most adorable thing she's ever seen. "A Mogwai." the colt said With that the Mogwai started to make more noises. "What's he doing?" Twilight asked again "Singing." the colt replied again Twilight trotted back into the main room of the shop. "I've got to have him, he's incredible." Twilight said to the old stallion "I'm sorry, but he's not for sale." The stallion said "I'll tell you what I'll do." Twilight replied placing some bits that she took from her saddlebags on the counter "I'll give you one hundred bits." "I'm sorry, the answer is still no." He said "How about I double the offer, two hundred bits." Twilight said again "No." He replied "That's two hundred bits." "I'm sorry, the Mogwai is not for sale." The stallion said trotting into another room. "But grandfather." The colt said "With Mogwai comes much responsibility, I cannot sell him at any price."The stallion said "Wait outside a moment, I'll be right out." The colt whispered to Twilight Twilight went back outside back into the freezing cold and in a matter of minutes, the colt came back out with the box. Twilight gave the bits to the colt. "Thanks." She said "Wait miss, there's three rules you got to follow." The colt said "Yeah, what kind of rules." "Keep him out of the light, he hates bright light, especially sunlight, it'll kill him." the colt said "Keep him out the water. Don't get him wet." "But the most important rule, the rule you can never forget, no matter how much he cries, no matter how much he begs, never, never feed him after midnight." "Sure kid whatever you say, hey listen, thanks and happy holidays." "You too Miss." "You can just call me Twilight." "Okay, bye Twilight." "Bye kid." Twilight said She pulled a note from her saddlebags and wrote something on it before teleporting back to Ponyville. Knock Knock Fluttershy was cuddled up in her soft bed, everything was quiet, and suddenly that loud knock came. It had startled her because it wasn't that normal to have a knock at the door at this time of night, or in this weather condition. Assuming it was one of her animals, she got up to see what was going on. Down the stairs she went trying not to make a peep, and found nothing out of the ordinary. Her whole cottage was silent, all her animals were sound asleep. Then came another sound, it sounded like some sort of animal, but she couldn't pinpoint what it was, but it sounded like it was coming from her front door. Fluttershy trotted to the door and open it to find a box left on the door step. Just a single cardboard box. Was this where the sound was coming from? Fluttershy picked up the box and took it in right away. Setting down on a nearby table she put hear ear to it, listened closely to the box, and sure she heard a sound from inside. Fluttershy opened the box. Before she could look inside a furry creature jumped unexpectedly and landed back in the box. That made Fluttershy jump as well, and in a matter of seconds, hands slowly emerged from the box and it's head popped out along with them. It was some sort of furry, white and brown creature with big ears and eyes. It's hands had three fingers and they had no fur on them. "Hello there little fella." Fluttershy said in a whisper as she picked the creature up and cradled it. "Aren't you a cute one." While still cradling it she looked in the box and saw a note rolled up inside. She set the creature down back in the box and opened the note. To whom that took my Mogwai in. If you are reading this, I hope that you take care of my Mogwai, Gizmo and I hope you and him become good friends, but you must follow these rules. 1. Keep him out of the light, especially sun light, it will kill him. 2. Keep him away from water, don't get him wet. 3. (Most importantly) No matter how much he cries, no matter how much he begs, never feed him after midnight. Once again I thank you for taking him in and I hope he brings as much joy as he brought to me before. A friend After reading that, she vowed to follow those rules, she loved all animals and she was shocked at the first rule, the fact of an animal dying sent shivers down her spine, but for now she took Gizmo back out of the box, flew back upstairs and tucked him into her bed. "Good night Gizmo." Fluttershy said as she got in with him and slowly drifted back to sleep. Twilight was now back at her library home after delivering the present to her friend, she proceeded up the stairs quietly, trying not to wake up Spike. She got back into her bed. " I sure hope Fluttershy likes the present I gave her, after all it's a cute animal, and Fluttershy loves animals, what could possibly go wrong. I mean it's not like those thing will turn into little green monsters." Twilight thought as she drifted off to sleep as the cold winter night continued on. Chapter 2The Next Morning Fluttershy awoke to the early morning light shining in her face. Before moving she felt around with a hoof for Gizmo, he was where she left him. Fluttershy got up out of her bed and flew downstairs to do her early chores, such as feeding the animal and such. After that she introduced everyone to Gizmo, and they all seemed to get along nicely, but one problem, what do Mogwais eat per say. That wasn't hard to figure out because the first thing Fluttershy gave Gizmo was one of many apples that she got from Applejack. Gizmo ate the apple in a flash. Fluttershy then picked up Gizmo and placed it into her saddlebags, put them on, and proceeded outside to introduce Gizmo to her friends. First stop, Sweet Apple Acres Fluttershy made her way to the farm but on the way ran into Rainbow Dash catching some Z's on a cloud by the lake where she usually goes after a hard days work to catch some rays instead of sleeping. "Hi Rainbow Dash." Fluttershy said in a slightly loud voice trying to wake her up "Hey Fluttershy." Rainbow said in a yawn "I need to show you something I found on my door step." Fluttershy requested "Okay, show me what you got." Rainbow Dash replied "We have to do it in the shade." Fluttershy said flying over to a nearby tree. It was cloudy and the sun couldn't be seen, but Fluttershy didn't want to take any chances. Rainbow Dash flew over next to Fluttershy. She opened up her saddlebags and pulled Gizmo out. A smile came to Rainbows face as the cuteness overwhelmed her. "What is it?" Rainbow asked "He's a Mogwai, his names Gizmo." Fluttershy said Just then a huge splash of water flew all over the three of them. Gizmo was flailing around make the most heartbreaking screech. Fluttershy's attention was drawn to Gizmo, but Rainbow was serching for what amde the water splash on them in the first place. Then a pink figure emerged from the water. It was Pinkie Pie. "Pinkie!" Rainbow yelled out at her "Look what you did to Fluttershy's new pet." "I'm sorry, I just thought you two were having a beach party and I wanted to join in, so I thought I would surprise you two, so were you surprised? Gizmo continued to flail around until a small furry ball flew out of his back. All three of the pony's eyes were directed to the small furry ball that started to grow and beat like a heart. Suddenly four more balls flew out of Gizmo's back and landed by the significantly larger ball. The larger ball was no the size of Gizmo when it unfolded, large ears covering the new Mogwai's face. The same thing happened with the other balls until there were five new copies, kind of like the Parasprites, but what made one of them stand out was a large stripe in the middle of one of the Mogwai's head. "I don't believe it." Rainbow finally said "Me neither." Pinkie said "Can I have one Fluttershy?" "I guess you can Pinkie." Fluttershy replied Pinkie reached a hoof out to the one with the stripe on its head, but it snapped back at her. All the other Mogwai started laughing at her, except for Gizmo who looked like the saddest thing to ever live. "I guess not.' Fluttershy said "I got to go talk to Twilight about this, bye girls." Fluttershy said while putting the Mogwai back into her saddlebags, and flying off to Twilight's library home. Fluttershy had made it to Twilight's library. She knock on the door and was greeted by the lavender unicorn. "Hi Twilight, I need to show you something." "Oh, I wonder what it could be." Twilight said with a smile on her face Fluttershy went inside and set her saddlebags down on a nearby table. "I got found thing called a Mogwai, and it multiplies with water." Fluttershy said "What." Twilight said Fluttershy took one of the Mogwai out of her saddlebags and set it on the table. "Can I have some water?" Fluttershy asked Twilight got Fluttershy a cup of water. Fluttershy spilled a bit of water on the Mogwai's head and before they knew a furry ball popped out of the Mogwai. Pretty much the same thing that happened with Gizmo happened again. "Can I keep one of these Mogwai." Twilight asked "You can." Fluttershy said "Thanks for dropping by Fluttershy." Twilight said taking one of the Mogwai. "Your welcome Twilight." Fluttershy replied as she flew off back to her cottage. That Night It was late at night, Fluttershy and Gizmo were up, since they couldn't get to sleep, why, because the five other Mogwai are screaming so loud that it's impossible to go to sleep. "I already fed you five, can you please quiet down." Fluttershy asked, but the Mogwai wouldn't let up. Fluttershy looked at the clock to find that it read eleven o' clock. "It's not midnight yet." Fluttershy said getting out of her bed Fluttershy grabbed five apples and gave one to each of the Mogwai. "Do you want an apple Gizmo?" Gizmo nodded as the other Mogwai wolfed down the apple. After those apples the finally shut up. "Night Gizmo and company." Chapter 3The Next Morning... Again Fluttershy awoke to the early morning light shining in her face again. Fluttershy gasped as she saw her Mogwai, or what they used to be, now they were these green oval-shaped... things. Gizmo had been woken up from her gasp, and he was just about as horrified as her. "Back to Twilight's." Fluttershy said grabbing Gizmo and putting him in her saddlebags. She flew as fast as she could to Twilight's library to talk to her about what might have happened to her Mogwai. Fluttershy made it to Twilight's library to find her waiting outside. "Twilight, something's wrong with my Mogwai, I need you to come and help me figure out what's wrong with them." Fluttershy said "I know." Twilight replied "Come inside." Twilight led Fluttershy inside and showed her another one of those... things on a nearby table. She then led her to another room. "It's a cocoon." Twilight said "Inside, he's going through changes, lots of changes." "Well what do we do with them?" Fluttershy asked "Only time will tell Fluttershy, and when they hatch, you have to tell me right away." "I will Twilight." Fluttershy said Just then Pinkie Pie came into the room. "Twilight I have a serious problem. It's my Mogwai." Pinkie said "What." Fluttershy and Twilight said "Fluttershy, remember when Gizmo was shooting out those furry balls." "Yes. What are you getting at Pinkie?" Fluttershy asked "I may have taken one of your Mogwai." Pinkie said "and I may have got it a bit wet again." "Pinkie, how many do you have now?" Twilight asked "I just got another five, and last night I gave them a bit of food and then they ended up like that thing right next to you." Pinkie said pointing at the cocoon "When did you feed it?" Twilight asked again "A bit after midnight." "Wait I didn't feed mine after midnight, but they ended up going into cocoons." Fluttershy interrupted "Wait... Fluttershy when did you feed them?" "Eleven on the dot." "What did your clock say when you came here?" "It said... eleven o' clock." Twilight looked at her clock and it read nine o' clock "Like I said, you two need to let me know when they hatch." Twilight said "Okay we will. Pinkie Pie said Pinkie and Fluttershy left the library and headed back to their homes to keep an eye on the cocoons Meanwhile Back at Fluttershy's and Pinkie Pie's homes The cocoons bust open. Each sack had two hands pushing through the sack, creating a hole which let green light pour out from them, as smoke rose everywhere and white liquid dripped from them, and in a matter of minutes, they broke out. Twilight then heard something fall to the ground. when she looked back at the table where she left the cocoon. It was gone. She looked on the other side of the table to find that the cocoon had burst. Twilight was on edge now, if that thing hatched, which it just did behind her back, if it was harmful, it would get the jump on her and... she didn't even want to think about it. All the lights in the library suddenly turned off, somepony, or something had turned off the lights using the breaker and there were no breakers in any of the rooms, except for... the basement. (Plot convenience. I think so) Twilight made her way to the basement, when she opened the door, light came pouring and more bookshelves became visible. Twilight's horn started to glow as she went down The light filling the room as she slowly trotted through the basement. She slowly explored the entire basement. Nothing. Where could the thing have gone. Twilight trotted back up the stairs. Twilight felt something tapping her head. She looked over to one of the bookshelves to find the creature with a book in it's hand. "Twilight CACA!" It said as it smacked her in the face with the large book. She fell down the stairs and slowly drifted out of consciousness. Back at Sugarcube Corner The whole place was dark. Somehow, the lights magically turned off. Pinkie made it back. She was headed to the kitchen area and found...something in the kitchen eating cupcakes that just so happen to be in front of a microwave. It somewhat resembled a Mogwai but it was more reptilian in appearance. Not to mention that it was larger, it had large claws at the end of each finger, and sharp teeth, but other than that, the resemblance was striking. She slowly approached it trying not to make a sound. Right when Pinkie got behind the Gremlin, she pushed it into the microwave. She set it for two minutes on high, in two minutes the gremlin exploded and all of his insides splashed everywhere. Just then from behind her, a gremlins threw a plate and hit here right in the head. Pinkie grabbed a random frying pan. She used it as a shield until she got right in front it, then she beat the gremlins viciously with it. Another gremlin threw a frying pan at her, but she dodged it just in time. Pinkie rushed over to it and grabbed it. She had a bit of a wrestling act with it, but she managed to throw it into the freezer. With that she grabbed some random tanks of liquid nitrogen (in case of a liquid nitrogen emergency.), shoved them in the freezer as well, and finally opened them up while constantly trying to keep the gremlin in. Pinkie wait a couple minutes. Then she took the gremlins, who was completely frozen, grabbed her frying pan and smashed it into pieces. Finally the other two gremlins showed up right out of nowhere and started throwing kitchen utensils at Pinkie. She made quick work of them by showing them into a blender and made a gremlin smoothie (and pinkie didn't drink it for all of you reading.) "Well that's that problem taken care of." Pinkie said observing her work. (She not only managed to dispose of them in the goriest way possible, but she also seemed to brush it off like it was nothing. Pinkie you are CRAZY) "Quit interrupting Narrator! The people are trying to read." "Sorry." Back at Fluttershy's cottage Fluttershy made it back to the cottage. She searched the whole house but she found nothing. All she found was a tunnel in the middle of her living room. "Oh no."

Chapter 3The Next Morning... Again Fluttershy awoke to the early morning light shining in her face again. Gizmo was sound asleep as usual, but when Fluttershy got out of bed she didn't see any of the other Mogwai she left in her room before. Fluttershy flew downstairs to find something horrifying. Fluttershy gasped as she saw her Mogwai, or what they used to be, now they were these green oval-shaped... things. Gizmo had been woken up from her gasp, and he was just about as horrified as her. "Back to Twilight's." Fluttershy said grabbing Gizmo and putting him in her saddlebags. She flew as fast as she could to Twilight's library to talk to her about what might have happened to her Mogwai. Fluttershy made it to Twilight's library to find her waiting outside. "Twilight, something's wrong with my Mogwai, I need you to come and help me figure out what's wrong with them." Fluttershy said "I know." Twilight replied "Come inside." Twilight led Fluttershy inside and showed her another one of those... things on a nearby table. She then led her to another room. "It's a cocoon." Twilight said "Inside, he's going through changes, lots of changes." "Well what do we do with them?" Fluttershy asked "Only time will tell Fluttershy, and when they hatch, you have to tell me right away." "I will Twilight." Fluttershy said Just then Pinkie Pie came into the room. "Twilight I have a serious problem. It's my Mogwai." Pinkie said "What." Fluttershy and Twilight said "Fluttershy, remember when Gizmo was shooting out those furry balls." "Yes. What are you getting at Pinkie?" Fluttershy asked "I may have taken one of your Mogwai." Pinkie said "and I may have got it a bit wet again." "Pinkie, how many do you have now?" Twilight asked "I just got another five, and last night I gave them a bit of food and then they ended up like that thing right next to you." Pinkie said pointing at the cocoon "When did you feed it?" Twilight asked again "A bit after midnight." "Wait I didn't feed mine after midnight, but they ended up going into cocoons." Fluttershy interrupted "Wait... Fluttershy when did you feed them?" "Eleven on the dot." "What did your clock say when you came here?" "It said... eleven o' clock." Twilight looked at her clock and it read nine o' clock "Like I said, you two need to let me know when they hatch." Twilight said "Okay we will. Pinkie Pie said Pinkie and Fluttershy left the library and headed back to their homes to keep an eye on the cocoons Meanwhile Back at Fluttershy's and Pinkie Pie's homes The cocoons bust open. Each sack had two hands pushing through the sack, creating a hole which let green light pour out from them, as smoke rose everywhere and white liquid dripped from them, and in a matter of minutes, they broke out. Twilight then heard something fall to the ground. when she looked back at the table where she left the cocoon. It was gone. She looked on the other side of the table to find that the cocoon had burst. Twilight was on edge now, if that thing hatched, which it just did behind her back, if it was harmful, it would get the jump on her and... she didn't even want to think about it. All the lights in the library suddenly turned off, somepony, or something had turned off the lights using the breaker and there were no breakers in any of the rooms, except for... the basement. (Plot convenience. I think so) Twilight made her way to the basement, when she opened the door, light came pouring and more bookshelves became visible. Twilight's horn started to glow as she went down The light filling the room as she slowly trotted through the basement. She slowly explored the entire basement. Nothing. Where could the thing have gone. Twilight trotted back up the stairs. Twilight felt something tapping her head. She looked over to one of the bookshelves to find the creature with a book in it's hand. "Twilight CACA!" It said as it smacked her in the face with the large book. She fell down the stairs and slowly drifted out of consciousness. Back at Sugarcube Corner The whole place was dark. Somehow, the lights magically turned off. Pinkie made it back. She was headed to the kitchen area and found...something in the kitchen eating cupcakes that just so happen to be in front of a microwave. It somewhat resembled a Mogwai but it was more reptilian in appearance. Not to mention that it was larger, it had large claws at the end of each finger, and sharp teeth, but other than that, the resemblance was striking. She slowly approached it trying not to make a sound. Right when Pinkie got behind the Gremlin, she pushed it into the microwave. She set it for two minutes on high, in two minutes the gremlin exploded and all of his insides splashed everywhere. Just then from behind her, a gremlins threw a plate and hit here right in the head. Pinkie grabbed a random frying pan. She used it as a shield until she got right in front it, then she beat the gremlins viciously with it. Another gremlin threw a frying pan at her, but she dodged it just in time. Pinkie rushed over to it and grabbed it. She had a bit of a wrestling act with it, but she managed to throw it into the freezer. With that she grabbed some random tanks of liquid nitrogen (in case of a liquid nitrogen emergency.), shoved them in the freezer as well, and finally opened them up while constantly trying to keep the gremlin in. Pinkie wait a couple minutes. Then she took the gremlins, who was completely frozen, grabbed her frying pan and smashed it into pieces. Finally the other two gremlins showed up right out of nowhere and started throwing kitchen utensils at Pinkie. She made quick work of them by showing them into a blender and made a gremlin smoothie (and pinkie didn't drink it for all of you reading.) "Well that's that problem taken care of." Pinkie said observing her work. (She not only managed to dispose of them in the goriest way possible, but she also seemed to brush it off like it was nothing. Pinkie you are CRAZY) "Quit interrupting Narrator! The people are trying to read." "Sorry." Back at Fluttershy's cottage Fluttershy made it back to the cottage. She searched the whole house but she found nothing. All she found was a tunnel in the middle of her living room. "Oh no."
