Load Full StoryAuthor’s note: Hey, everypony. This is my first MLP fanfic, so constructive criticism would be most appreciated. I hope you enjoy.
The sun was shining brightly on Ponyville. The birds were chirping cheerfully, the clouds produced by the Cloudsdale factory were floating silently over the town, ponies were going about their daily lives, and a cool summer breeze blew through the land. Everypony was happy... well almost everypony. A dragon was walking through the town with a look of hesitation on his face. He wasn't the bravest person in Equestria, nor was he the strongest. But there was something about him that made him special. It's not everyday when your in love with somepony who's a lot different from you. ,
He was going to do it. He couldn’t wait any longer. He was going to do it as soon as he walked inside the busy building of her boutique. Planning it and heading over there was simple. It was building up the courage to fulfill his task was what made it hard. He couldn’t even be near the elegant mare without blushing. She was so beautiful, the most attractive female in all of Equestria. Her mane was a lovely dark purple, her eyes were a hypnotizing cerulean blue, her eyelashes only added to her beauty (He didn’t care if they were fake), and her voice was that of an angel.
Of course, her looks weren’t the only thing that the boy admired. She was known to be very generous, earning her the title of ‘Element of Generosity’. Spending time with her, helping her make dresses, was something the child really enjoyed, even though he was often teased by his two friends Snips and Snails about it. He would do anything for her. He even gave her a rare Fire Rupee that his was going to eat on his birthday. The boy was had been in love with the mare ever since he met her.
On days when he was assisting his unicorn mentor Twilight Sparkle with her studies or cleaning the library, he frequently found himself day dreaming about the mare he loved deeply, sometimes resulting in Twilight having to snap him out of his fantasy. At night, the gorgeous mare would also appear in his dreams, usually ended with him being upset the next morning that it wasn’t real. He just couldn’t stop thinking about her. It was getting to point where everything would remind the boy of her. He was starting to get worried.
Last night was the last straw. His most recent dream involved him and his mare sitting by the lit fireplace of the library, kissing each other passionately. He suddenly woke up in cold sweat, breathing heavily. Fortunately, he didn’t wake up Twilight. The child put a claw to his head, groaning in frustration.
“Oh, what the heck is wrong with me? This is crazy! It’s not like she likes me that way! Just look at me, why am I doing this to myself!?”
It was true. She wasn’t even from his species. The boy was a little dragon, and the outfit designer was an adult unicorn. They were from two different worlds. As much as he adored her, the dragon knew deep down that the pony would never love him back. She only saw him as a friend, nothing more. Though he wouldn’t accept it, he knew it was true. It was always true. And now that it seemed his fantasizing about the unicorn was taking over his life, he decided that he just had to do something about it. If he didn’t, he would probably go insane with it. That was when the young drake got an idea. He was going to find a way to vent it all out, and he knew just the way. Pinkie Pie, another friend of his, said to him one time that this was the best way to release your feelings.
The next morning, the little dragon made sure he finished all of his chores early, made Twilight breakfast, and got ready to head out. He walked out of the library and then strode out in the direction of Carousel Boutique. And this is where our story begins.
He was going to do it. He couldn’t wait any longer. He was going to do it as soon as he walked inside the busy building of her boutique. Planning it and heading over there was simple. It was building up the courage to fulfill his task was what made it hard. But the drake knew he had to be brave.
The Boutique was on the other side of Ponyville, so it would be a long walk. As he walked through town square, the dragon boy saw the bustling of ponies, children playing, and ponies manning food stands. He also saw the Cutie Mark Crusaders as they passed him, laughing playfully. He smiled, be immediately shook his head from distractions and continued his way to his destination. A few blocks later, the boy found himself a few meters away from Carousel Boutique. He narrowed his eyes in determination. And with that, the small dragon ran to the building, grabbed the doorknob with both hands, and burst through the door. Just what expected, the mare of his dreams was there in the middle of designing a new sweater, a sewing needle being levitated by her magic. She had a look of shock and confusion on her face.
“Spike, what are you--?” But before she could finish her sentence, Spike dashed up to her and embraced her in a tight hug, burying his face in her fur. He started sobbing. Spike had finally done it. He was venting his feelings. He was hugging her.
“I love you, Rarity.” he said as his voice was muffled by the unicorn’s warm neck. “So much.”
Rarity was taken aback by this action, not knowing what to say. After a minute or so, she smiled lovingly and hugged him back.
“I love you too, my little Spikey-Wikey.”
The End
