My hind legs buckling in a mixture of fear and anticipation, Scootaloo looked at me inquisitively. “You’re not scared are ya? This was your idea anyway. You’ve been talking about riding this hill since Monday, so don’t tell me you’re wussing out”. Scootaloo smirked at me, obviously expecting some snappy comeback. I just replied “not a chance i'm missing out on this if your game”. I gave Scootaloo a little smile and looked at the breathtaking scenery. It was truly beautiful. The cold high altitude breeze chilling my chocolate brown fur. I wiped my unusually long blonde mane out of my eyes so I could see Ponyville. Ponyville looked pretty small from up here, especially when it sat next to the vast Everfree forest that went until on until the horizon. We were above some of the lower clouds and the high elevation made it harder to breathe than normal. I asked Scoot’s about it before we reached the top of the hill. Scoot’s said that Pegasus lungs are well suited to high altitudes, funny huh; you learn something new every day. We both gazed down the steeply declining hill, from this point I’m pretty sure it’s safe to call it a summit. “Scoot’s can we”, she silenced me with her hoof to my lips. “First of all what did I tell you about little pet names?” She stared me down intently, ‘Feisty filly’ I thought to myself. “You may be the cute colt of the senior classes”, I gave a little blush to the remark. “But that doesn’t mean you get away with pet names. What was the last one you got all the colts to start calling me?” I thought that was my queue to say “chickenwings!” I got replied with a nasty hoofslap to the jaw. “Oow, I told you I was sorry”. Scootaloo gave a little chuckle. “Damn right you are”, she gave me a small kiss on the cheek. This was somewhat a date, well that’s how I see it. I’m not so sure what she thinks it is and I’m afraid to ask. The path we were planning to ride down went in between rows upon rows of trees. It looked downright dangerous from here just from how steep the pathway is. I suppose you would expect that though because this is the only entrance to the equestrian mountain ranges. “Are we gonna stand here all day or can we ride this hill”. Said Scoot’s somehow sounding impatient and confident at the same time. I looked down the hill again and it looked bloody scary. I suddenly felt light headed. “Five secs, gotta pee”, Scootaloo let out a deep sigh, I lowered my scooter and looked for a nearby tree to hide behind. “Oh mah Luna hurry up!” I heard her complain as I went and did my business. I was as quick as possible and returned to my scooter and gazed down the hill once again. I closed my eyes and let out a deep sigh, “alright” I said “let’s do this”. “On go it’s a race”, Scootaloo looked at me with a devilish grin. I grinned in anticipation myself but I was also questioning my reasons for doing something so reckless with a serious medical condition like mine. I reassured myself everything will be fine. “Three… Two… One… GO!” Scootaloo immediately planted her hind hooves on her scooter and used her wings to propel herself forward. I quickly pushed myself forwards over the summit edge, ‘this is it’ I thought. My scooter started to pick up speed. I was terrified just by how long the hill goes for but my adrenaline was pumping and I forgot about my fear almost instantly. My mouth widened into a big stupid adrenaline fueled smile until a bug came careening into my mouth, so I decided to keep my mouth shut. My long mane and tail blowing in the wind and the consistent ‘whoosh’ sound of trees rapidly passing by, I felt so rushed it was amazing. Scootaloo was in front of my, only by a little bit and I was confident that my new scooter would have newer faster wheel bearings in it. The pathway was surprisingly a very smooth surface which allowed us to gain even higher speeds. I sat behind Scootaloo’s wind wake as we had learned about physics in school. School is useful after all I chuckled to myself as I slowly shortened the distance between Scoot’s and me. I was practically sitting right behind her ready to overtake, but I knew from the walk up here that there is a lightly angled left corner with a positive camber to it. The corner wasn’t a problem for both of us as the camber made it so we barely had to slow down. Scootaloo spread her undersized wings out and used them as wind stabilizers. She’s a lot smarter than appearances tell. I steered out her wind wake to have a wall of air hit my face and I could feel myself decelerate. This got my annoyed so I lowered my whole body to lessen the wind drag and lower the center of gravity. We were heading into a particularly dense forest of trees on the hillside. I remembered sweeping the sticks and rocks off the path for safety on my way up the hill. Scoot’s must of seen me lower myself to try and gain speed, so she did the same. ‘Copycat’ I thought in my childish demeanor. ‘BOOM! KABOOM!’ My ears rang. I looked up into the sky past the trees. Two consecutive loud booms, ‘It couldn’t have been Rainbow Dash could it? A sonic rainboom is a single boom’. I thought to myself as I turned my attention to the path again. My eyes widened in shock, and Scootaloo wasn’t even looking at the path. “SCOOTALOO”. Scoot’s eyes wondered to the path and I could see her body almost freeze in shock. Ahead of us was a fallen branch and we were going way too fast to stop at any point. I knew this was going to hurt and my mind filled with regret. At least just past this small forest of trees is Ponyville so help isn’t far away. The fallen branch came quickly, Scootaloo and me both hit it simultaneously. The scooter got ripped out of my hooves and everything kinda went black. (Author's Note) Looking for constructive critisism, dont be cruel. I tried my best to proof read this but i'm sure there's more than a couple of mistakes hiding somewhere, so dont be afraid to point them out.
