Musical Labyrinth

Vinyl Scratch and Octavia have a hard time getting along. Vinyl Scratch does techno, Octavia does classical. They once did a face off which ended in a tie. They played music on some occasions, mostly at the same time. They don't chose which part of the day, it occurs randomly.

They were in their homes playing music. Both of their homes were insulated. This was suggested by one of the ponies so it won’t disturb them or any citizen of Equestria. Vinyl placed two vinyl records on the deck. Octavia picked up her cello, placing the bow on the strings. They started to play music. Octavia played at a low volume, Vinyl blasted her room at a high decibel.

Twilight Sparkle practised magic near her house. She’s using a levitation spell on one of her books.

“I did it!” she said. “That took a fortnight to get right!”

“Better than using me for your spell.” Spike was lifted numerous times and ended up getting injured. He looked out the window see the two ponies making music. “I can see that the insulation on both Vinyl’s and Octavia’s house is working.”

“Always doing what’s best for every pony.”

A knock on the door made her drop the book. She answered it, Derpy Hooves was holding a letter for her. “Special Delivery for Twilight Sparkle.”

She showed her a form “Sign please.”

Twilight used her horn to write her signature with the quill.

“Thank you,” Derpy said to Twilight.

“What is it?” asked Spike.

“It’s from Princess Celestia and Princess Luna.”

Derpy flew to Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy. Giving each of them the same letter she gave to Twilight.

Each of the letters read:

You have been invited to the Grand Galloping Gala. Tonight will be hosted by Princesses Luna and Celestia. For the first time ever, there will be two parties: One inside the castle and in the gardens, each have a talented musician providing music. You can attend both parties if you desire and hopefully will see you there.

All six were excited. They all ran and met each other in the centre of Ponyville.

“Guess what. There are two parties in the Gala!” they said in unison.

“Two parties in one! This is going to rock!” Pinkie said in excitement.

“Best of all the ticket made of platinum!” Rarity showed hers to all.

“So is mine,” said Applejack.

“We all have platinum tickets,” Rainbow Dash said.

"I wonder what they are planning?" asked Twilight.

"It did say there will be two musicians, one for each," reminded Fluttershy.

"Not that, there must be something else."

The other ponies were confused. They never saw Twilight looked so concerned.

Octavia finished playing her instrumental piece. She heard a knock on the door just as she finished playing. She saw Derpy at her door.

"Letter for Octavia," she said in a politely voice.

"You're a kind pegasus," smiled Octavia.

"Thank you! Thank You!" Derpy waved her mane in the air, pretending she's on stage.

Vinyl stopped after 5 minutes of loud digital music. She heard Derpy knocking on her door. "Hey Derpy! Great to see you!"

"Letter for Vinyl Scratch," Derpy said in a kind voice.

Both Octavia and Vinyl Scratch have the same letter. They both read:

You have been picked by the ruler of Equestria as musicians for the first time at tonight's Grand Galloping Gala.

Both of them screamed in joy. They heard each other's voices. Both of the were confused, they went outside and met each other.

"Octavia," said Vinyl. "I've been chosen as DJ for the Grand Gallopng Gala!"

Her exciting cry almost made Octavia about to burst a vein. Of course she showed Vinyl the letter. I've been chosen too."

Vinyl showed Octavia her letter. They each read their letters. They found invitations on the back. They were also made of platinum. The only difference is their names were placed on them and mentioned which party they were chosen for.

"Why would he princesses chose us?" asked Octavia.

"Because our different music styles fit foreach of them," answered Vinyl.

"My classical music is suited for Celestia," said Octavia.

"And my techno beats are a thing for Luna," concluded Vinyl.

They thought for a few seconds, they stared at the sky, it's almost dusk.

"We better prepare ourselves!" they said in unison.

They ran back into their houses.

It was the night of the Gala. The six ponies arrived at Canterlot. They were excited to see who will be composing the music.

"This is chance to finally meet him," said Rarity.

"Who?" asked Fluttershy.

"Prince Blueblood."

"Him? What made you think he'll notice you?" Rainbow Dash couldn't imagine Rarity and Blueblood as a couple.

"He's graceful, elegant..."

"And an upper class snob," interupted Applejack.

Rarity was shocked. She never heard such words on her beau. "How dare you call him an upper class snob!"

"Everytime you to make him notice you, he doesn't seem to care."

"I'll prove you wrong. He's the colt for me. He'll also adore my fahion trends. I can even design clothes for our wedding."

They arrived at the castle. Princess Celestia and Princess Luna were waiting for them.

"Glad you all came," smiled Luna.

"Nice to see you," greeted Twilight. "And why did have two parties during the Gala?"

"Me and Luna were asking ouselves what can we do to make it... um..." Celestia tried to find the word that describes it.

"Memorable?" suggested Rainbow Dash.

"You could say that," said Luna.

"Allow us to Introduce the musicians for tonight's Gala." Celestia and Luna showed them.

The six were surprised. "Vinyl Scratch and Octavia?!"

"Surprised?" Vinyl and Octavia said at the same time.

"Why pick them?" asked Twilight.

Celestia and Luna knew she'll ask that.

"We heard of their problems of getting along with each other," said Luna. "We thought this might be a chance for them to become friends."

"To which we agreed with." Octavia was very enthusiastic.

"No time for talking. Let's make some music." Vinyl was just as excited as any pony.
