Chapters Together for Eternity

Author's Note: I am going to put links to songs on YouTube, to help put you in the moment. Feel free to do it if you like, you don't have to. I usually listen to music when I read stories and I find it helps put me in the right mood. With that out the way... On to the story!
Spike arose from his deep sleep, surrounded by familiar bookshelves. He groggily stepped in front of a mirror, admiring his newly developed body and wings. His scales were now hued with a deep purple, similar to an amethyst. His spines and spikes were also darker, longer, and thicker. After he finished admiring himself, Spike decided to get breakfast ready, for Twilight and himself.
As Spike was walking downstairs, he noticed Twilight's face glued to the inside of a book titled ‘The History of Ponyville’ . He decided to let her read in peace while he prepared breakfast. Pancakes and scrambled eggs sounded like a good idea.
"Twilight, breakfast is ready."
Twilight had put a bookmark in the book and had put it on the table. She reached the dining room table and was greeted by Spike.
"Hey, Twilight, how was your day, so far?"
"Going good so far, I made a lot of progress in my reading, today. How about you, Spike, how are you feeling this morning?”
“I’m doing fine, I think I'm a little taller today." Spike said as he stood up to show Twilight.
Thinking about how he'd been growing quickly, the inevitable thought came to his head.
"Hey Twilight... As you know I'm growing quite rapidly, I will have to leave o..."
"SPIKE DON'T TALK ABOUT THAT!" Twilight yelled, scaring Spike.
"I don't want to think of that day. The last thing I want to lose is my best friend and brother. I don't know how I'll be able to let you go after all those years of being together. Even though deep down I know you'll leave one day. Let's just enjoy our time together until then." Twilight said in a motherly voice.
"You're right Twilight, I need to stop thinking about that day. I need to enjoy all the moments with you and our friends."
After they finished eating breakfast, they started on their chores for the day. Chores, such as stacking books in alphabetical piles and placing them on the shelves upright, in said order.
What’s this? ‘Fashions through the Years’. I bet Rarity would love to read this book. I’ll put it my pocket and bring it to her the next time I see her. I’m sure Twilight won’t mind that I borrow this book. She never was into fashion. Come to think of it. How did Twilight procure this book in the first place? She probably just wants to have every book ever written. It wouldn’t surprise me.
Spike’s thoughts were then interrupted by Twilight.
"It looks like we're all done Spike. You can have the rest of the day off. I'm going to continue reading my book."
“I'm going to go for a walk around town Twilight."
Twilight didn't hear Spike, the book was taking all her concentration. As he was enjoying his walk, Spike couldn't help but notice the looks of hatred and fear the ponies were giving him as he was walking by them. The stores would close their doors as he walked by. Parents would pull their fillies back telling them that they don't want them near him.

Why are they giving me stares of hatred? Spike was thinking as he lowered head feeling more and more depressed.
I don't know what I did to deserve this. I only helped them when they needed help, without asking for anything in return. What did I do to make them hate me like this? I have grown in height, but I'm still nowhere near the height of a full grown dragon. I knew one day this would happen. But why now? I did turn into that beast years ago. But the ponies forgave me for that and they continued to treat me as a friend. And I had grown a lot bigger then. Oh my Celestia... Spike started to get a worried look on his face.
I hope they don't see me as a beast. I'm still Spike, Twilight's number one assistant on the inside. I'm still fun and lovable... I need to take a break from these ponies.
A smile appears on Spike's face. I know, I'll go visit Rarity. She always seems to enjoy my company. She'll know how to cheer me up.
Spike started walking towards the Carousel Boutique. Spike started feeling more depressed as he continued thinking. He started walking faster, wanting to get to the Carousel Boutique faster, he needed to see Rarity.
Twilight was right this morning, one day I will have to move out of the Library. She was subtle about it saying she wants to live with as long as possible. I don't want that day to come for years. Twilight is not the only person I'll have to leave. I'd have to leave the rest of the gang, Pinkie Pie, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy and... Rarity. That means no more Pinkie parties! No more delicious apples and apple cider from Sweet Apple Acres. No more flying races with Rainbow Dash. No more of Fluttershy's special care she had towards me. And no more... Rarity. My one love, never being able to see her anymore. How would I be able to continue living without Rarity in my life. She is the only pony I have ever loved. Without her, I would never feel joy, happiness, love, laughter the same way again...

Spike arrived at the Carousel Boutique. He knocked on the door twice. A blue hora surrounded the door as it opened to reveal the elegant and graceful Rarity.
“Hello Spike!”
Rarity started to grin, happy to see Spike. Their conversations always helped cheer up Rarity whenever she felt sad or lonely. She had been feeling lonely ever since Sweetie Belle had gotten her cutie mark as a singer. Sweetie had moved to Manehatton and got a record contract last year. Spike had come over often since then. He would always help Rarity make her dresses, go gem collecting or even just talk. He would always do anything to cheer her up.
“Hi Rarity!”
“Do come in.”
Rarity gestured Spike with her hoof to come in. Spike walked in and Rarity closed the door and turned the sign to closed.
“What brings you here today Spike?”
Spike had his head hung low. His depression was coming back as he was thinking of the ponies again. He said in a deep voice, no emotion could be heard.
“Twilight gave me the rest of the day off. I decided to go for a walk around town. As I was walking I couldn’t help but notice the looks of hatred the ponies were giving me. So I decided to come visit. I thought maybe you would like some company.”
Spike didn't want to tell Rarity he was also thinking about the day when he would have to leave. Rarity already knew it and he didn't want to ruin his time with Rarity. He wanted to enjoy every moment he could have with Rarity.
“I always enjoy your company Spike. I can’t believe those ponies treat you like this. You’re still Spike, the kind hearted dragon. Pay no attention to them, you did nothing wrong. It’s their downfall for not seeing you as who you really are.”
Rarity hugged Spike. Spike started blushing, he enjoyed it when his love would hug him.
“Thanks Rarity, you always know how to cheer me up.” A huge smile could be seen on Spike's face.
“No problem. You’re my friend, friends always help each other out.” Rarity did not want to let go of the hug. She enjoyed hugging Spike. She let go anyway as to not cause any suspicion.
"Are there any dresses you need help with? It might help me take my mind off of those ponies.”
“Actually yes I do! Follow me.”
Spike followed Rarity to her designing room. As they entered the room, Spike noticed there was fabric everywhere. There were elegant reds, royal blues, majestic purples and the gold fabric that Rarity loved even though it takes a lot work to make. Rarity always called her messes "organized chaos".
"You came at the perfect time, I had just gotten three orders from ponies in Canterlot."
"That's great to hear, your business seems to be doing well ever since Shining Armor and Princess Cadence's wedding."
"It has been Spike. I'm getting orders almost everyday ever since."
"So how was your day today so far?"
"It's been great. Other than the order I received today, I got a chance to sleep in today and relax. I took a nice relaxing herb bath. Could you please pass me the royal blue fabric on the table over there?" Rarity, half focused on the sewing machine pointed with her hoof to the table the fabric was laying on.
"Sure thing Rarity." Spike walked gently across the room as not to disturb Rarity's "organized chaos". He would never forgive himself if he messed up her work. Spike retrieved the fabric. Excited to be helping Rarity, he walked back a little faster. He never wanted to make a lady wait.
"Thanks!"
They had continued making the dresses all day. Luna had just risen a full moon when they were done.
“Thanks for your help Spike.”
“No problem Rarity, I always like helping you when I can.”
Rarity blushed slightly at Spike’s comment.
Rarity had a worried look on her face. Rarity just realized then that Spike must be hungry. He had eaten breakfast a long time ago.
“You must be hungry. Would you like to have supper with me?”
“I would love to.”
Rarity and Spike walked over to the kitchen. Spike trying to keep up with Rarity's magic, helped her get supper ready. For Spike, Rarity made a nice salad with fresh lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber and plenty of sapphires and rubies. She made the same salad for herself, without the gems of course. They sat down at the table. As they ate their salads, Rarity smiled as she noticed Spike was eating with elegance. He used his utensils and even used his napkin to wipe his mouth.
“That was perfect as usual.”
“Thank you. I had hoped I put enough gems.”
Spike helped Rarity clean the dishes.
Spike was getting ready to leave. Rarity couldn’t bear to have him walk back home after seeing how depressed he was.
I can't let Spike go home. The ponies will only make him depressed again. I can not let Spike get depressed again. He needs a friend right now. I'll ask him to stay over. He can sleep in Sweetie's old room. I always kept it as a bedroom in case Sweetie ever came over to visit.
“Spike... do want to sleep over here tonight? I don’t want you to have to go outside with those ponies walking around.”
“Are you sure Rarity? I don’t want to intrude.”
“Of course I’m fine with that. I like spending time with you. You can sleep in Sweetie's old room.”
“Alright, I should go tell Twilight so she won't worry about me tonight.”
"NO! Like I said, I don't want you to walk around those ponies. I'll walk you home tomorrow morning and I'll explain everything to her then."
"Alright. I just hope Twilight doesn't ring my neck tomorrow morning."
Rarity walked to the living room and sat down and sat on one of her luxurious red couches. With a look Rarity hinted Spike to come and sit beside her on the luxurious couch. Spike starting grinning as he got the hint to sit next to her.
“How have you been feeling these last few days Rarity? It’s been a year since Sweetie Belle left for Manehatton.”
“I’m feeling better. I’ve been keeping busy making dresses so that helps. I also have you to keep me company.” She said as she kissed him on the cheek. Spike blushed, not expecting that.
“How about you Spike, how have you been? Other than this morning.”
“It’s not easy living here when the ponies don’t accept me. But living with Twilight and helping her with her chores helps. And being able to visit you anytime is a bonus.”
“You’re too kind Spike.”
“It’s nice to know you still see me as a friend and not as a beast.” Spike said with happiness yet with sadness also in his voice.
“I’m so glad I make you feel better. That means a lot to me!” Rarity said with excitement in her voice.
Spike felt a lump in his ‘pocket’. He had forgotten about the book.
“Hey Rarity I found this book earlier today when I was helping Twilight stack the books back on the shelf. I thought you might like to read this with me and look at the pictures.”
Spike handed the book to Rarity.
“‘Fashion through the Years’ , I would love to read this with you!”
Rarity gave the book back to Spike for him to hold and moved a little closer to Spike to see the book. Spike opened the book and held it low enough for Rarity to be able to read. Rarity had taken her glasses off the table and put them on.
“Look at this one Spike, that would look perfect on you!” Rarity said laughter in her voice.
“Yuck! That looks awful enough as is!”
“This dress looks perfect for you Rarity” Spike said giggling.
“You know I don’t like green! That dress looks simply dreadful!”
They continued going through the book. Making each other laugh as they were going through the pages. Rarity had taken a break. Her stomach was hurting from all that laughter. As she came back to reality, she noticed she was right beside Spike, too close for comfort. Her feelings for him started to invade her mind.
Oh Spike, I hope you don’t think I’m teasing you by sitting Right next to you. I like you, but it would never work out. You’re a dragon and I’m a pony. What would other ponies think of me if I went out with a dragon? What would happen to my business, my reputation? I would never be respected as a fashionista again in my life. Ponies would mock me for choosing a dragon as my special somepony. Also Spike will have to leave Ponyville one day, I would have to get used to dragon custom. He might even become the rampaging dragon again after he gets his gem collection...
Rarity snapped out of it, not wanting Spike to get suspicious about what she was thinking about. Spike and her went back to reading the book.

“Do you think this purple dress would look perfect on me?”
“It would look fabulous on you Rarity. But you don’t need that dress to look perfect, you already are perfect!”
Rarity had the biggest smile she’s ever had hearing what Spike said. She always acted differently around Spike. She would always make sure that she looked her best, she always talked to him with softness in her voice, never anger. She started thinking what it would be like having Spike as her special somepony…dragon again. He had grown up, he’d matured physically and mentally. Ever since he started maturing Rarity had started sharing feelings for him as well… But it would never work out. Wait… I could not care less about what those ponies think of us being together. They are treating Spike terribly, and I have caring about them because of it. They might not be happy about it, but I love Spike, and nothing can change that. I would lose my respect as a fashionista and income would stop coming in. But Spike and I could always go gem hunting and sell them to make money. Even if it will hurt me deep down having to sell the gems instead of making a beautiful dress with them. Even when he has to leave Ponyville, he would still go hunting for gems and I could hopefully sell them to the nearest town. I trust that Spike won't become that rampaging beast. He stopped after seeing me with my Heart shaped fire ruby... I kept these feelings hidden from Spike because I thought it would never work out. I was wrong. I am going to tell him. Right now is the right time. I’m going to tell him tonight.
“Spike... I need to tell you something.”
“Yes Rarity?”
A smile formed around her face.
“I’m in love with you! I want you to be my special dragon!” She said with love in her voice.

Spike's had his mouth open in awe. His heart started beating faster. He couldn't believe what he just heard. He never thought in a million years he would hear her say those words. He always thought that she only liked him as a good friend. This was the best moment of his life. The mare he had loved all his life just asked him to be her special pony... dragon. Not wanting to give Rarity the wrong idea Spike smiled, tears of joy formed around his eyes. He grabbed Rarity's hoof in his claw and with love in his voice said.
“I love you too Rarity! I always have. You’re the most beautiful pony I’ve ever seen. The way your mane and tale are the perfect shade of purple. The way your mane is always curled so beautifully. Your fur, a perfect white. Also you’re the most generous pony I’ve ever met. You’re beautiful on the inside as well. You are the definition of perfection. You're one in a million. I will be your special somedragon!"
“That is the most beautiful thing anyone has ever told me Spike.” Tears of happiness forming around her eyes.
Rarity started kissing Spike passionately. Spike returned the kiss. Their tongues explored each other’s mouths. Every kiss made them more and more excited.
"I love you Rarity."
"I love you too Spike."
After what seemed like an eternity of kissing. Rarity got up.
“How about we take this to the bedroom.” Rarity said in a seductive voice.
Spike's cheeks turned a bright red he was blushing so much. Spike could not believe what he heard. This was the moment he was waiting for his entire life. Spike followed Rarity upstairs into her bedroom without hesitation. As Spike entered her bedroom he noticed that her window was open.
Ending 1: Together for Eternity
When the figure was fully visible, Fluttershy wore the biggest smile and ran towards it.
“Spike you’re back! I missed you so much, we all missed you!” Fluttershy hugged Spike the tightest she’s ever hugged him.
“Fluttershy I missed you so much in there. Can you get the other five and meet me back here, but do it discreetly I don’t want the villager ponies to suspect anything.”
“Of course Spike wait right here." Fluttershy had trouble controlling her excitement as she walked towards town.
While Fluttershy was getting the other ponies Spike started to think…
The day is finally here. I will have my revenge on these ponies for separating me and my beautiful Rarity. And my friends. But by burning down the village I would only make their fears come true. Then they would never accept me into their society again. I have the perfect opportunity, they don’t know I’m here. I could easily come in and start causing chaos. But then I wouldn’t be any better than Discord or Nightmare Moon. I’m better than those two. It’s not going to be easy but I have to show them that I am not a monster by only being myself. I can only hope that they will eventually accept me as part of them again.
It had just turned to night, just then Spike heard his friends running and talking, overwhelmed with joy over the fact he came back.
“Spike, you’re alright! Thank Celestia!” Twilight hugged him as tight as possible.
“Glad to have you back sport.” Rainbow Dash said.
“Oh Spike, I’m so glad you’re back! Now we can go back to having fun again!” Pinkie Pie said in her usual cheerful voice.
“Welcome back kiddo!” Applejack said.
Song
There was only one left… Rarity. Rarity jumped on Spike and started kissing him passionately. Taking a break, she started crying.
“Spike I missed you so much. I locked myself up in my Boutique for three days after you were chased out of town. All I could do was cry and hope you would come back. Now that you’re back I won’t ever let them separate us again, no matter what it takes!”
For what seemed like an eternity Rarity and Spike kept each other in a tight hug. Twilight finally spoke.
“So what brought you back Spike?”
“I couldn’t stand not seeing you guys anymore. Especially you Rarity.”
Rarity blushed.
“Twilight I can’t live with you anymore. They will only chase out of town again or worse…”
Twilight started thinking of a solution as fast as possible.
“I have an idea! Spike I’m going to write a letter to Princess Celestia. I’m sure she would let Rarity, you and I live at the palace with her.”
“What about us Twilight?” Asked Applejack, the others staring at Twilight.
“I need you guys to stay here. I don’t want to cause too much of a suspicion. You guys are always welcome to come and visit at anytime.”
“Okay Twilight, as long as it helps Spike.”
“Thank you guys. Fluttershy could I borrow a quill and paper?”
“Sure Twilight”
Fluttershy ran to get what Twilight asked for.
“Are you sure she’ll say yes Twilight? What would the people of Equestria think of her if they knew she was living with a dragon?” Worry in Spike’s voice.
“Princess Celestia doesn’t care what they think about you Spike or how it would affect her, she cares about you Spike, she’s your friend, she would do anything for you Spike!”
“I hope so.”
Fluttershy came back with the quill and paper.

Dear Princess Celestia,
I need your help it’s an emergency! Spike has come back, and I can’t let him live with me at the library, because they will only chase him out of town again. Could Spike, Rarity and I live with you at the palace? I would like to live in my old quarters. Rarity and Spike would need their own room. Rarity can’t live without Spike in our lives. Please Princess we need to get out of town.

A while later Spike received a letter from the Princess. He handed it over to Twilight. Twilight opened it and read it out loud.
To my faithful student Twilight Sparkle,
You can most certainly come and live with us here at the Royal Palace. I will have the guards prepare your old living quarters and have one of the palace's rooms ready for Spike and Rarity. I have sent a carriage to come and pick you up right away.

“If you don’t mind Twilight, I’d like to take Rarity and fly to Canterlot. I haven’t been able to use my wings in fear someone might see me. I promise to keep to the shadows.”
“Sure Spike I understand. Just make sure to go straight to the Palace, the guards will keep you safe from the ponies in Canterlot.”
“Thanks Twilight. Are you ready Rarity?”
“Yes Spike.”
Spike spread his purple wings and started flying.
“How are you holding up Rarity?”
“I’m doing fine. The view is amazing! I should have flown on your back sooner… Oh Spike you have no idea how happy I am that you’re back. And now we can live together for the rest of our lives!”
“I couldn’t live the rest of my life without you Rarity. I had to come back, just so I could be with you. I am also glad I’ll be able to spend the rest of my life with you!”
Rarity hugged Spike’s neck. She never wanted to let go, as they flew off in the night sky.

Ending 2: Spike's Rampage
Author's Note: WARNING THERE IS SOME MILD GORE IN THIS CHAPTER. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED
When the figure was fully visible, Fluttershy wore the biggest smile and ran towards it.
“Spike you’re back!”
“Fluttershy I missed you so much in there. Can you get the other five and meet me back here, but do it discreetly I don’t want the villager ponies to suspect anything.”
“Of course Spike wait right here." Fluttershy had trouble controlling her excitement as she walked towards town.
While Fluttershy was getting the other ponies Spike started to think…
The day has finally come, the day I can finally get my revenge on these damn ponies. They fear the beast that they claimed I would become, so they tried to get rid of me. What they don’t know is, that by doing that they only made my inner beast come out sooner. The second mistake they made, was they separated me from my love Rarity. Oh Rarity, you always entered my dreams with your beauty. It only made my time away from you worse. Every day I wished those dreams would come true, dreams of us enjoying life together, dreams of me helping you make dresses, dreams of just being there with you. And those ponies took that away from me… So they thought. But today, that’s all going to change. Today is the day they learn not to mess with a dragon.
It had just turned to night, just then Spike heard his friends running and talking, overwhelmed with joy over the fact he came back.
“Spike, you’re alright! Thank Celestia!” Twilight hugged him as tight as possible.
“Glad to have you back sport.” Rainbow Dash said.
“Oh Spike, I’m so glad you’re back! Now we can go back to having fun again!” Pinkie Pie said in her usual cheerful voice.
“Welcome back kiddo!” Applejack said.

“So what brought you back Spike?”
“I couldn’t stand not seeing you guys anymore. Especially you Rarity.”
Rarity blushed.
“That’s not the only reason I came back.” Spike eyes turned red, smoke started coming out of his nostrils. His face had a look of pure unquenchable rage. In a deep emotionless voice, Spike said.
“I’m here to get revenge on those ponies who thought they could simply get rid of me by chasing me out of town. And for separating me from Rarity.”
“I cannot allow you to do that Spike, it would only make things worse for you. I cannot let you destroy our friends’ homes, our home or anypony’s for that matter.”
Spike looked at Twilight dead in her eyes.
“Do you know what it feels like to be a reject? How it feels when all your life you helped all these ponies, and how do they thank you? They make you feel like trash because they think I’ll become a monster just because I’m a dragon. They tried to get rid of me, after all I’ve done for them! And they do this to me. Do you know how that feels Twilight? It hurts. Knowing you’ll never be accepted by anyone. Knowing everyone thinks of you as a creature. Knowing that no matter what you do, they’ll never change their opinion of you. Do you how that feels Twilight?”
“No I don’t, but that doesn’t mean…”
“That’s what I thought Twilight.”
Spike started walking towards Ponyville. Twilight started panicking. She had never seen Spike that angry before. Thinking quickly, she thought of a plan.
“Okay everypony we have a rampaging Dragon on our hands. Here’s the plan. Applejack, Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash, you guys come with me and help escort the ponies to safety. Rarity, I want you to go home and get the fire ruby Spike gave you, last time it snapped him out of his rampage. And Fluttershy…”
Fluttershy was nowhere to be seen.
“FLUTTERSHY? She must have ran back to her cottage. It’s probably safer for her that way, she can make sure the animals stay safe. Alright everypony, you have your orders, now let’s go and save Ponyville, again.”
Applejack, Dash, Pinkie and Rarity all ran towards Ponyville, Twilight teleported to the center of town. She ran house to house warning the ponies that a creature was spotted outside of town, she couldn’t tell them it was Spike causing the mayhem, she couldn’t believe it herself.

Spike had just arrived at the edge of town.
“This is it Spike, the moment you’ve been waiting for.”
Spike started to walk into town. He let a huge red flame escape his mouth, burning the surrounding houses. All that could be heard were the screams of pure agony coming from the ponies being burnt alive. Their skin completely burnt off. Their muscular tissue slowly being burnt away, blood dripping everywhere. Eventually all that was left were skeletons of once living ponies. Spike continued his rampage. He started digging his claws into the ponies, piercing their flesh. Blood now dripping down his claws. Just at that moment, Applejack and the others arrived. They could not believe what they saw. Bodies everywhere. Pools of blood at every corner. Not being able to hold it any longer, the four vomited. They could never picture Spike being able to do this. Spike their friend. Spike the dragon that was always happy. Always willing to help anyone in need. This is not the Spike they knew. This is not the Spike they came to love. This is a monster, not Spike.
Quickly snapping out of it, they started running to the parts of Ponyville still unaffected and started dragging ponies out of their homes and told them to run towards the Everfree forest. Rarity on the other hand continued running towards the Carousel Boutique. Twilight was still going from house to house telling them they need to leave due to incoming danger.
Meanwhile, Spike continued his rampage. He continued to burn their houses down. He continued to rip the ponies apart. He felt great, he’s finally getting back at them for what they’ve done to him. He started to grin.
Meanwhile in the Canterlot castle,
“Sister I have heard screams from Ponyville while on my nightly rounds. There seems to be a creature attacking them. We need to go over there and help them.”
“Quickly Luna let’s teleport over”
Princess Celestia and Princess Luna teleported to the edge of Ponyville, what they saw they could never forget. They too saw the pools of blood, the bodies scattered everywhere and bodies that have their hearts pierced by a claw. They started running as fast as possible towards town. As they arrived in town, they saw Twilight running form house to house.
“Twilight, what is going on?”
“Princess Celestia, thank the elements you’re here I could use your help.” Twilight said, trying to catch her breath.
“Twilight take a deep breath.”
Twilight complies.
“Now tell me what is going on.”
“It’s Spike he’s gone on a rampage.”
“WHAT!?”
“Let me explain Princess”
“There is no time for that Twilight we need to stop him before it’s too late.”

As the three ran off towards Spike, Rarity arrived at the Boutique. She ran upstairs into her bedroom. She grabbed the fire ruby from the case Spike kept it in, and ran outside. She heard screams coming from the west side of town. She ran as fast as she could towards that direction. As she was running, she couldn’t help but think about Spike.
How could Spike do this? How could Spike kill those ponies without mercy?
Tears started forming around her eyes.
The Spike I fell in love with would never do that. The Spike I love would have tried to prove to those ponies he isn’t a monster. That Spike isn’t here anymore; he left that Spike behind in the Everfree forest. This isn’t Spike; this is only a cold blooded dragon, in Spike’s body. What do I do? I can’t love a monster. And what if I continued to be his special-mare, how do I know he won’t continue to kill anypony that stands in our way? But if I decide to tell him I don’t love him anymore after what he’s done, would he mercilessly kill me too? Don’t be a fool Rarity Spike would never hurt you. Deep down the real Spike is still there. He would never let that monster touch you. Hopefully the ruby will bring his senses back like last time.
Princess Celestia, Luna, Twilight and Rarity all arrived in front of Spike just in time to stop him from clawing a young filly.
“Spike! It is I Princess Celestia, I order you to stop what you are doing immediately!”
“Sorry Princess, but their death is imminent.”
“Twilight, I have to use a paralyzing spell on Spike, there is no other option. I need to stop him, NOW!”
“Wait! I asked Rarity to bring the fire ruby. It stopped him last time, hopefully it’ll work again.”
“Alright Twilight, but if it should fail, I will have to use my spell to stop him.”
“I understand Princess. Rarity are you ready?”
“Yes Twilight, here I go.”
Rarity walked forward, getting closer to Spike.
“Spike! It’s me Rarity, I want to talk to you.”
“Rarity?”
Spike looked down. There was the love of his life Rarity. Only this time, she had a look of fear on her face.
“Rarity what are doing here?”
“I’m here to help you Spike. I want you to stop this chaos, I want my old Spike back.”
Rarity made sure the fire ruby was visible. Spike saw the fire ruby. It only made him angrier. The ruby only reminded him that he almost lost Rarity for the rest of his life.
“I’m sorry Rarity, but I need to do this, I need to have my vengeance. I cannot let them get away with what they did.”
Spike continued on, nothing was going to stop him from getting his vengeance.
“I’m sorry Twilight but I need to use the spell.”
Princess Celestia aimed at Spike’s legs. Just before she cast her spell, Spike turned around and bent down to grab a pony he saw. Princess Celestia shot the spell before she could stop it. It hit Spike directly in his chest. The spell paralyzed his heart and his lungs. Spike fell to the ground, instantly dying. Twilight and Rarity ran towards Spike. They feared the worst.

“Spike are you there? SPIKE?”
Spike did not respond. Twilight turned to face Princess Celestia. Her face showed pure anger. Her horn lit up.
“Give me one reason why I shouldn’t hurt you right now Princess.”
“Twilight I’m sorry, but something had to be done, he was killing everypony he saw. He had to be stopped before he could cause any more damage. I didn’t mean for the spell to hit him in the chest, I meant to hit him in the legs. I’m sorry Twilight, I know how much Spike meant to you.”
Twilight let her anger take over. She surrounded Princess Celestia with her purple hora and threw her against the ground. She then surrounded Spike’s body in the same purple hora, only this time she levitated his body and ran off towards the library. Luna shocked, ran up to her sister. Rarity had a look of pure horror on her face. Spike was dead. Spike was… Dead. Rarity ran after Twilight. She needed to be there for Twilight.
Twilight arrived at the library. She carefully brought Spike’s body inside and slowly lowered his body onto the couch in the main room. Rarity showed up only a few minutes later.
“I’m sorry Twilight. I failed to stop him. It’s all my fault. I should have stopped him earlier, before he even started. Please forgive me Twilight.”
“It’s not your fault Rarity. It’s my fault, I should have never let Princess Celestia cast that spell. Spike would have still been alive otherwise. I could have saved him, but I didn’t. I’m sorry Spike.”
Rarity and Twilight were unable to hold their tears back. They cried for a good hour. They didn’t want to believe Spike was dead. They wanted their Spike back. But it was to no use. He was dead and they knew it deep down.
Princess Celestia and Luna arrived at the library an hour later.
“Twilight Sparkle, explain your sudden outburst.”
“I’m sorry Princess I let my anger take over me. I couldn’t accept Spike’s death. I wanted him to live.”
“I understand Twilight, I know how it feels to lose a loved one. As I am immortal, I have lost many loved ones throughout my life. If there’s anything I can do, let me know Twilight.”
“There is. Could I please give Spike a proper burial in the castle’s cemetery?”
“It would be my honor Twilight. I will return to the castle and let the guards know to let Rarity and you in with Spike’s body.”
“Thank you Princess.”
“Feel free to bring him over whenever you’re ready.”
Princess Celestia and Luna returned to Canterlot. Twilight and Rarity brought some pillows and blankets from upstairs and set up on the floor next to Spike, they wanted to spend one more night with Spike. They couldn’t fall asleep. All they could think about was Spike and the events that lead to his death. They couldn’t forgive themselves for what happened to Spike. To them, they could have saved him from his unnecessary death.
Morning had arrived; they went to Sweet Apple Acres to borrow one of Applejack’s wheelbarrows to transport Spike’s body to Canterlot castle.
“Howdy Twilight, Rarity. What brings you here?”
“Applejack we have some bad news.” Tears started forming around Twilight’s eyes.
“Spike passed away. We were wondering if we could borrow one of your wheelbarrows to transport the body to the Canterlot castle.”
“Spike is… Dead? What happened?”
“Spike did not snap out of it when Rarity showed him the fire ruby, so Princess Celestia used a paralyzing spell to immobilize his legs. Instead of hitting his legs, it hit… His… Chest.” Tears were now flowing out of Twilight.
“I’m so sorry Twilight. Of course you can borrow my wheelbarrow. When is the funeral?”
“I am not going to hold one. I am just going to have all of you guys attend the burial. I don’t want anyponies to ruin the funeral. I was hoping you would come to Canterlot with us now.”
“Of course Twilight, let me tell Big Mac so he knows to buck these apple trees.”
Applejack ran off towards the barn. It only took a few minutes before her friends could see her running back with the wheelbarrow. They walked back to the library. Twilight used her magic to gently lift Spike’s body into the wheelbarrow. They covered it with a blanket, not wanting anypony to disrespect his body. They walked over to Sugar Cube Corner and told Pinkie the bad news. Instantly her mane deflated. She agreed to follow them to Spike’s burial. Next they went to Fluttershy’s. Luckily Rainbow Dash was visiting her. When they arrived, they noticed Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash were crying.
“Why are you guys crying?”
“I just told Fluttershy how I witnessed Spike's death yesterday. I was flying around to see if there were any more ponies that needed evacuating. Just then I noticed Spike’s death, I immediately flew here to tell Fluttershy what I saw, and now here we are.”
“Were going to Canterlot right now to give him a proper burial, we were going to ask you guys to join us.”
“Of course Twilight, let’s go.”
The mane six took the next possible train to Canterlot. When they arrived, they walked straight towards the castle. They ignored everything around them. They arrived at the castle and were greeted by the guards.
“I’m sorry to hear about Spike’s death Twilight. He was a great dragon.”
“Thank you, he was.”
“Go on in Twilight. We’ll let Princess Celestia know to meet you at the cemetery.”
The guards moved aside. The mane six made their way to the cemetery. Princess Celestia and Luna greeted them there.
“I’m glad you ponies could make it. Did anypony give you any trouble on the way here?”
“No. We kept Spike hidden under this blanket to avoid any trouble.”
“Alright. Are you ready Twilight?”
“Yes Princess.”
Princess Celestia brought out a coffin made out of the most beautiful oak. Gently Princess Celestia lowered Spike in the coffin. She closed the coffin and lowered it into the grave. The mane six couldn’t speak, they were too busy crying. This was the last time they would see Spike.
One year later.
It was the one-year anniversary of Spike’s death. The mane six were at Spike’s grave. They each brought a bouquet of flowers. They all read the gravestone, tears flowing from their eyes.
The gravestone read:
In honor of Spike the dragon.
He was the best friend you could have.
He was the best assistant around.
He will always be in the hearts of his friends.
R.I.P.

That night, a pony overheard Rarity talking to Spike. The pony ran towards the mayor’s house.
Knock Knock
"Who's knocking at my door at this hour?" Mayor Mare said still half asleep.
“Sorry for waking you up so late mayor Mare, but I heard through an open window Spike talking about sleeping with Rarity tonight.”
“WHAT! Citizen gather up the other ponies by morning. Bring weapons. We will meet at Rarity’s house then. We will chase him out of town.”
“Yes mayor Mare.”
I can’t believe that dragon is sleeping with a pony. Dragons don’t belong with ponies. They turn into beasts and destroy villages. The ponies know it. Now that he’s been sleeping with one of our citizens. He needs to leave NOW. Before it’s too late and he destroys the town.
Rarity woke up to the sound of knocking on the door. She put on her gown and walked to the front door. Spike woke up as Rarity was walking down the stairs. Rarity opens the door. All of Ponyville is there.
“What are you all doing here? The Boutique is closed.”
“We know Spike was in bed with you last night. Step aside and let us search your house.”
“I will not. You’ll need a warrant if you want to search my house.”
“The mayor is right here, she gave us permission. Now step aside.”
Rarity steps aside with a worried look on her face. They better not touch Spike! The villagers start rushing in the house. Spike had just finished walking down the stairs when he noticed the ponies. They had their weapons at the ready.
“DON’T YOU LAY A FINGER ON SPIKE!” Rarity yelled at the top of her lungs.
“Stay out of this lady.”
They started walking towards Spike. Spike slowly made his way towards the door. As soon as he'd felt the doorknob he opened the door quickly. Fear and anger were taking over him as he ran as fast as possible towards the Everfree forest. When Spike was no longer visible at the forest entrance the villagers returned back to their homes.

Rarity was standing in her Boutique, frozen with worry and anger from the event that had just occurred.
I need to tell Twilight, immediately! Rarity thought, as she sprinted towards the library.
Rarity arrived at the library and slammed the door open.
“Twilight we need to talk. NOW!”
“What is it Rarity? Where’s Spike?”
“The villagers came to my house this morning along with the mayor and chased Spike out of town. He ran towards the Everfree forest.”
“WHAT!?”
“I’m sorry Twilight.” Rarity said unable to hold any tears back.
“It’s not your fault Rarity. Gather the others and bring them back here.”
“Alright, I’ll return as fast as possible."
Rarity came back along with four other ponies. Twilight tried not to cry but failed, as she started speaking.
“Everypony, Spike has been chased out of town to the Everfree forest by the villagers…”
Twilight couldn’t speak any longer, she started to cry harder. The others joined in.
“I would take on all of Ponyville after what they did to Spike!” Anger in Rainbow Dash’s voice.
“Why would they do that to Spike? Spike is funnest dragon I ever met!” Pinkie said, her mane was deflating.
“I’ma ashamed to live near such ponies who can’t see who Spike truly is. Sweet as peach. Tough like an apple.” Applejack said disappointment in her voice.
"We should go looking for Spike in the Everfree forest he needs our help." Rainbow Dash said.
"We can't, he's too far deep into the forest for us to go looking for him. Spike can defend himself against the creatures in the forest, but we wouldn't stand a chance. Even the ponies didn't go in after him earlier. They knew it was too dangerous." Twilight explained.

How dare they chase me out of town! How dare they banish me because I was with Rarity. We had just shared our feelings towards each other and those f****ng ponies had to ruin everything.
After Spike walked for a while through the forest, he decided to settle down in an empty cave he found. He didn’t want any creatures to enter his cave, so he put moss on the walls to make it look like it wasn’t occupied. He would go hunting for gems during the day. He used the technique Rarity had taught him during their last gem hunt. At night he would eat said gems and when he went to sleep he would dream about Rarity. How beautiful she was and the morning when they chased him out of town. Haunting him every night. Sometimes though he would dream about Rarity and him living together forever. How they would live their lives. How they would get married. How they would be together for eternity in the afterlife once they both passed away.
As the days went by Spike’s anger towards the ponies that chased him out of town only worsened. The though of the ponies hating him after all he did for them and thinking about how they took away Rarity and all his other friends only worsened it. He had to have his revenge, even if he had to kill a few ponies in the process.
I will wait a year before returning to Ponyville. I want the ponies to think that I have left for good. That way they won’t suspect my return. I hope my friends don’t think I’ve left forever. I will return, that’s a promise. I will come back to my friends. And to my beautiful Rarity. I could never leave her forever. One year my love. I will see you then. No matter what it takes.

One year had passed by since Spike was chased out of Ponyville. The mane six still missed him. They still had hope that Spike would return someday. Twilight still worked at the library. Fluttershy would help her when she could since Spike wasn’t there to help. Her friends would visit her whenever they could. Rarity still worked at the Carousel Boutique making dresses. It was very hard for Rarity, she had just revealed her feelings towards Spike and had the greatest night with him, only for him to be taken away. She had never forgiven the ponies. Every day, Rarity thought about how her life would have been like if Spike had never left. Her feelings for him only intensified every moment. She knew she wanted to spend the rest of her life with him. She was hoping everyday that she would hear that Spike returned and that everything would be alright for the two of them. Applejack still worked at the farm. She would go to the library and comfort Twilight everyday, assuring her Spike would return. She didn’t go to town to sell the apples anymore, Big Mac would go to town instead. Rainbow Dash continued working for the weather team (and tried at every opportunity to join the Wonderbolts). She would give a dirty look to the ponies as she flew over them. She would fly to the entrance of the Everfree forest every night looking for Spike. Pinkie Pie still worked at Sugar Cube corner. Although she never was as happy as her usual Pinkie self ever since Spike left because she felt as though she lost her play buddy. She hadn't come out with any new cupcake flavors since Spike left. Her and Spike used to play together, whether it be pulling a prank on Twilight or hiding some of her books. Fluttershy continued to tend to her animals. She would always look outside her window towards the Everfree forest hoping to see Spike come towards town.
As Fluttershy was looking outside her window that morning she saw a figure come out of the forest. Hoping it was Spike she continued to look.
