Private Doughty Stout has just completed basic training and has been shipped to Vietnam. He is the new field medic to a squad of harden veterans. The war has reached its height and Stout is afraid. Everypony around him says he does not fit his name. Ponies would describe him as a coward and most were surprised he didn't change religion or flee Equestria to avoid the draft. Foolishly he joins the army trying to prove everypony wrong. He passes basic training at Fort "Resilient Mare." He is designated as a medic and is taught basic magic skills and other skills needed for the war he thinks he is ready for. This war will shape him, it will shape him greater than he thought.
