Damn wind...
Dusk Shine shivered a little as a cool autumn breeze sent a chill through his form. The dark storm clouds that covered that covered Canterlot's sky were a clear indication that tonight would be very cold and rainy. Dusk did not want to be caught outside when the water droplets would begin to fall. There was little need to pick up his pace; however, as his destination was only at the far side of the courtyard. He would not be late for the appointment that had been set aside for him.
The icy grip of fear had not let go of Dusk's heart since he had received Prince Solaris's request. A casual sit-down, it read. Solaris had said in the letter that, because they had been so busy lately, he only wanted to have a little heart-to-heart over a drink or two in his personal chambers. No evaluations, no progress reports... just a friendly chat.
Yeah, right... Dusk mulled in his head. He knew exactly what was going on. One of Dusk's professors must have tipped Solaris off that his attention during class as of late has been... 'curiously distracted'. Solaris must have also picked up on his student's anxiety during their private lessons, and was summoning Dusk to confront him on his sudden academic downturn. It made Dusk's stomach lurch. Not only because the possibility of disappointing his mentor, but because if he wanted to know why his prized student was suddenly struggling, Dusk wasn't sure if he would be able to explain himself.
What had gone so wrong? Deep down, Dusk knew exactly what was wrong, he simply didn't want to admit it. The entire idea was ludicrous, and it was likely just some juvenile phase. Dusk had always admired Prince Solaris, so why was it so different all of a sudden? It didn't make any sense. Time and time again, he had tried to remind himself that his feelings were silly, and should just be ignored. He had more important matters to worry about than ridiculous feelings that may or may not be genuine. Given some time, they would surely pass.
A small drop of water on his muzzle told Dusk that it was time to hurry up; luckily, he was nearing the tower that led to Solaris's chambers. Sighing internally, he did his best to steel himself for whatever his mentor had in store for him.
Prince Solaris's personal chambers proved to be much more comforting than Dusk had initially thought, as the weather outside had quickly taken a turn for the worse. Showing himself inside as the invitation instructed, Dusk brushed off a few drops of water that had perched themselves in his mane. He noted the heavy downpour outside, pitter-pattering on a window nearby. The clouds were awfully dark, but Dusk had always liked rainy days. He found them mysterious and calming during his late-night study sessions. A small rumble of thunder could be heard in the distance.
Dusk took a few steps forward, admiring the extravagance of the personal quarters belonging to the prince of Equestria. The red carpet under Dusk's hooves was plush and soft, and the exquisiteness of the décor never failed to impress, no matter how many times he visited. His favourite piece, however, was the grand mahogany bookcase that stood along the side of the room, nearly as long as the wall itself. The tomes inside of it were easily older than Dusk Shine by tenfold.
At a glance, there was no sign of Solaris. Dusk prepared to call out to be sure that the Prince was actually home, when the stallion in question suddenly emerged from the doorway leading to his bedroom. "Ah, Dusk, my faithful student!" he greeted warmly, "I'm so glad you were able to make it. Please, have a seat. I will be right with you."
Dusk gave his teacher a curt nod as he watched him disappear back into his bedchamber. He made himself comfortable on the regal couch in front of the warm, crackling fireplace. In no time at all, Solaris reemerged, levitating two glasses of whiskey from the royal reserve—a personal favourite that Solaris liked to indulge in on special occasions. Dusk politely accepted the beverage, secretly relishing the contact his magic made with the alicorn's as the drink changed figurative hands. Dusk took a small sip, wincing just a little. It was strong. Strong enough for an immortal god of the sun.
Solaris took a seat on the opposite side of the couch. After taking a particularly long sip of drink, the alicorn leaned back, and gave a contented sigh of relaxation. Dusk noticed that Solaris was wearing none of his usual attire, though he could have sworn that he was wearing the golden regalia when he greeted him just a minute ago. Solaris must have only just returned to his quarters moments before Dusk arrived, and then removed the heavy ornaments for comfort reasons. Solaris looked very... good... without it. The sun god had such a strongly built frame that was always so unfairly hidden behind that chest piece he wore. It perplexed Dusk how Solaris could have such a well-defined body when he seemingly did next to no physical exertion. It had been hundreds of years since he had last taken part in any kind of combat, and he was usually flown anywhere he needed to be in that chariot of his. It was also nice to see his mane liberated from that frilly looking crown. Dusk had always thought that the head piece Solaris wore constantly was the bastard child of a soldier's helmet and a tiara. Not that he would ever disrespect the royal crown by saying it out loud.
Dusk suddenly forced himself to look away after catching himself staring for too long, shamefully deciding that the burning wood in the fireplace was much more fascinating. He mentally slapped himself. His mentor--his prince--was right there! How could he be thinking such... pervasive thoughts in front of Prince Solaris like that? Allowing his sick mind to distract him during his classes was one thing, but for it to suddenly decide to wander to such ungodly places in the presence of...
"Dusk Shine."
"Uhwhuh?" Dusk shook himself back to reality. Solaris was addressing him. "Oh, uh, sorry... I was just... ah..." Dusk stammered.
"Lost in thought?"
Dusk smiled weakly as he brought his glass in for another sip. "Heh, yeah..."
"Don't worry about it," the Prince said. "I was just asking about your sister. From what I've heard, she's been working hard, and has even found a special somepony?"
Dusk momentarily drew a blank. "Spe-...? Oh! Oh yeah," the purple unicorn began, refreshing his own memory. "Glimmer Shield told me about him a few months ago. She wouldn't tell me his name, though, only that it was someone I knew." He was silent for a moment, thinking back to the last time he had any contact with his sister. "Feels like it's been ages since I've seen her..."
"Her progress is astounding, she's climbing through the ranks fast. It seems like every time I run into her, she's another notch up." Solaris shot a wry smirk. "She's a hell of a soldier."
"She's a hell of a sister." Dusk grinned back. It was pretty nice to be on such a casual basis with the most powerful entity in Equestria. He took another sip of his booze. The flavour was unique, and it was starting to grow on him.
"What about you, Dusk? Any mares or stallions under your hoof?"
Dusk did a good job suppressing any nervous twitches or stutters that could betray his feelings. "Hah, mares and stallions demand time. Time is a luxury I do not have these days," he calmly said, still grinning.
Solaris gave an amused huff as he rolled his eyes, "You and I, both," he chuckled weakly. "With all the fuss the aristocrats make, I sometimes think the whole kingdom will fall apart if I so much as stop and check to see what time it is." The white alicorn closed his eyes and gave an exasperated sigh before he downed another large gulp of his beverage.
Dusk took the opportunity to simply stare at his prince, admiring the view. He smiled a little. The strapping stallion was the image of everything good in Equestria. He was so kind, caring, and worked harder than any other pony Dusk knew. So... perfect. Dusk's smile slowly faded as he once again realized what he was doing. His gaze sadly fell from pony sitting on the other side of the couch, to the drink in front of him. So wrong. So... terribly wrong, he thought, losing himself in the amber liquid before him.
Slowly, Solaris opened an eye to see his precious, most faithful student staring blankly into his glass, idly swirling it to make the ice cubes inside dance. "Dusk Shine," Solaris sat up straighter. "I'd like to know how you have been."
The unicorn's eyes shifted back to the royalty in front of him. "O-oh..." he said, unconsciously folding his ears back. "I-I've been doing... g-good?"
Dusk expected a stern look from Solaris, and a lecture on why he shouldn't lie, but it never came. "You haven't been yourself lately," Solaris said softly. "your teachers have told me that you haven't... 'been completely there' during class. I've noticed during our private lessons that you seem so... fidgety and nervous..." Dusk gave his tell as he shuffled uncomfortably a little. "Some of the psychology professors have also told me informally that my prized pupil has been showing signs of depression. Care to tell me what's on your mind?"
Dusk wanted to confess everything, but he couldn't bring himself to do it. It was all so ridiculous! How was he supposed to tell his mentor—his male mentor—that he was waiting for a crush on him to pass? There was no good way to word it. "Ah... It's nothing, r-really," he lied. "It's just some... normal, everyday stress starting to build up. I'm sure I'll be fine once I get some work done." Dusk tried to give the most convincing 'it's alright' smile he could conjure.
Solaris took a slow breath and looked off to the side, nodding sagely. "Alright..." Just as Dusk believed he was ready to drop the subject, he found Solaris's eyes drilling into his once more. "Now how about you tell me the real reason? I'd like to help you anyway I can, Dusk. It's obvious that you're scared, but know that there is nothing you could say right now that would make me disown you as my student. You can tell me absolutely anything."
After another uncomfortable fidget and a nervous swallow, Dusk gave one final attempt to dismiss the subject as not worth the Prince's worry. "I-it's nothing, really... It's just silly..."
"It's hurting you. Whatever it is you are not telling me is eating away at you every day. It's reached the point where you can no longer function in your day-to-day life because of it," Dusk's ears splayed back once again as his teacher's words hit him, his eyes fell ashamedly. "Your feelings aren't silly, Dusk. They're very serious."
"B-but... they're so... wrong!" Dusk blurted. "Not to mention incredibly selfish..."
"I'll be the judge of that. I only want to see you get better," Solaris leaned forward and placed a hoof on the unicorn's shoulder, their eyes met. "Please, Dusk? Tell me what's troubling you."
Once more, Dusk fidgeted. This was it; his chance to let it all out. It was now or never. "I..." he paused. "L-lately, I've been feeling really... weird."
"How so?"
A little more confident, Dusk straightened his posture some more. "It's hard to describe to the feeling... I've read some books on the subject of relationships. Books about love." Perhaps it was the fireplace, but the room suddenly felt much hotter. "I think... I might be in love. It's been bothering me so much because of how wrong it is for me to be thinking this way, and how selfish it is of me to want more when I already have everything I could ever want! It feels like something I need to fight through..."
Solaris raised an eyebrow questioningly. "Why do you feel that it is wrong? Falling in love is a completely normal part of anyone's life. Wanting to be loved by someone is not selfish at all."
"It's... wrong because... be-because..." Dusk began to stutter, the hardest words struggling to be released. It felt as though the claw around his chest had just tightened its grip by a thousandfold. Could he really say it? He had to, he was in too deep to turn back, now. Solaris was expecting an answer.
"Yes...? You think it's wrong because...?"
In one swift movement, Dusk dumped the contents of the glass into his mouth. The inferno in his throat gave him the strength to finish his sentence. "It's wrong... because it's you."
For a moment, Solaris's face gave no insight on to what he was thinking. He simply leaned back into the armrest of the couch as had moments ago. "I see..." he said, thoughtfully. Emotion was a feature that was completely absent in both his face and voice.
Dusk couldn't bear to look his beloved mentor in the eyes. He felt so ashamed. How could he bring himself to say something so sick? Solaris would probably want nothing to do with him, now. Dusk could barely talk, his heart was caught in his throat. "I'm so sorry."
Briefly regarding his glass, Solaris finished off the last of his drink. Setting the glass down on a nearby table, he finally spoke. "Why do you feel that it is wrong to be in love with me?" He asked nonchalantly, turning his head to the side. "Is there... something wrong with me?" Dusk would be unable to see the tiniest of smirks forming on the one side of the Prince's face.
"Wha-? No! There's nothing wrong with you! Nothing at all!" Dusk sputtered out. "It's just that... aside from the fact that we're both males, I'm your student, and you're the prince of Equestria! I'm not even royalty or anything like that! Everyone would think it's wrong on so many levels!" Dusk shook his head, as if to get the idea out. "Besides... I'm already your personal protègè. It would be utterly selfish of me to want more."
Solaris moved closer to the sulking unicorn, lifting his chin up with his bare, white hoof. "So you're saying... for your love for me to be 'right', you would have to be a mare, some form of royalty, and not my faithful student?"
Dusk was unsure what the Prince was getting at. "Well yes, I suppose—"
His sentence would remain unfinished as Solaris pressed his lips to Dusk's, wrapping an arm around the unicorn's shoulder. In less than half a second, Dusk's heart rate shot through the roof, and his pupils shrank to the size of pin pricks. The magical grip on the empty glass he held immediately vanished, sending it on a short fall to the carpet below. If he had the breath to spare it, he would have let out a small moan. Unfortunately, said respiration was being stolen by the larger pony currently sucking on his face.
Finally, Prince Solaris pulled his head away from his student's, a warm, loving smile on his lips instead. Dusk couldn't move, he couldn't speak, and he couldn't think. All he could do was continue to stare into the eyes that contained exactly what he wanted. Nothing was said for that moment, with the only sounds filling the air being the cracking of fire, and the pouring rain outside. Solaris placed his free hoof on Dusk's chest to help calm the rapid rising and falling. It helped very little.
"Now that, Dusk," he finally said. "...Is silly."
Dusk's mind was spinning from everything that was happening. Again and again, he established the fact that he, Dusk Shine, was currently lying in the bed of Solaris, Prince of Equestria. Any moment, he would return from the balcony after lowering the sun, and proceed to make love to his faithful student. he couldn't believe it was happening! It was almost too good to be true. Glimmer Shield, eat your heart out.
As expected, Solaris reentered his bedroom, noticeably wetter than when he had left. In all honesty, Dusk was surprised at just how soaked the Prince had gotten from just a few moments of standing outside. Closing the balcony doors, Solaris made his way over to the bed containing the pony of his desire.
Lying on his back, Dusk watched eagerly as Solaris's drippy form climbed onto the bed. The smaller pony got a much clearer view of the Prince's toned body as it stood directly over top of him, hooves on either side of his head. It was pretty clear that Solaris didn't care about ruining the bed sheets with a bit of rain water.
After a longing gaze into his lover's eyes, Dusk threw his hooves around Solaris's neck and brought him into a deep kiss. Enjoying every moment of it, Dusk parted his lips to offer more of his orifice for the sun god to explore. Solaris obliged, probing deeper and savouring the sweet taste of the unicorn's mouth. Dusk was in a state of bliss, and gave small moan as the alicorn caressed his face.
The kiss was parted by Solaris, with a small strand of saliva hanging briefly between the two. The purple pony's chest rose and fell rapidly as he stared deeply into the eyes of his beloved, a dopey grin plastered on his face. Emboldened by the turn of events that had taken place that evening, Dusk decided to take the initiative and test his bravado. Gently, he gestured for Solaris to lay on his side. In a swift motion, the sun god found himself on his back, and his faithful student now standing above him. Once more he wrapped his arms around Dusk, who in turn, buried his muzzle into his chest and affectionately nuzzled it, taking the opportunity to appreciate the god's masculinity. His underside didn't seem so wet.
For several moments, the two ponies lay silent in a lover's embrace. "...How far should we go?" Dusk finally whispered.
"As far as you would like." Solaris replied, softly stroking the other's mane.
Smiling, Dusk planted another kiss on the elder god's muzzle. Instead of another deep kiss like Solaris expected, he found another one being placed on the nape of his neck, and another on his barrel. Dusk's soft kisses travelled progressively lower until they came excruciatingly close to the obvious destination. Solaris had to move a bit of his still-dripping mane out of his vision for him to look down and see his faithful student's face poised between his legs. The ruler of Equestria had such amazing flanks, which Dusk discovered more thoroughly as he rubbed both of the Sun cutie marks simultaneously in a circular motion. Giving his mentor a mischievous smile, Dusk planted a sensual kiss on the inside of Solaris's left thigh. The stimulation caused the alicorn to let out a small moan of contentment, his member becoming erect from its dark grey sheath.
Dusk wasted no time, immediately placing several licks and kisses along the warm shaft. Dusk was not exactly sure what he was doing, as he was only following the examples given to him from the trashy romance novels he secretly indulged in during his free time. He placed one last kiss on the very tip of Solaris's flesh, eliciting a deep, satisfying moan. It was like music to Dusk's ears knowing that it was him who was bringing his mentor such pleasure.
Deciding that it was time to bring it a step further, Dusk slowly brought more and more of his maw down onto the thick member. The staggered, heavy panting above him assured him that he was on the right track when he began to suck lightly, and slather his tongue around it. The hooves tending to his mane and ears began to stroke harder; more desperate, though not trying to force Dusk's head down to take more than he could handle.
It amazed Dusk to see Solaris in a state so vulnerable. Depending on when the Prince last took a lover, Dusk Shine may have been the first pony in a few hundred years to see Solaris like this. Closing his eyes, the unicorn continued his ministrations, likening the sensation of fellating his lover to savouring a cold popsicle on a hot day. Soon, the salty taste of pre found its way onto his tongue. Realizing that his beloved ruler was coming close to his desired climax, Dusk slowly released Solaris from his mouth.
The Prince opened his eyes to meet with Dusk's, the look on his face from the sudden denial was almost heartbreaking. Dusk simply gave his lover a warm smile before rising to his hooves. Solaris was about to open his mouth when Dusk finally turned around, crouching his front hooves down to offer himself to his stallion. Turning his head back, Dusk found his anticipation rising (among other things) as Solaris brought himself behind the unicorn, but nothing more.
"Are you absolutely sure?" Solaris asked, running his hoof along his lovely student's body.
Dusk's answer was simply a longing gaze. His eyes said it all. Make me yours, hold me, love me! Dusk desperately wanted Solaris, and it was all the affirmation he needed. Giving a small nod, the alicorn nestled himself on top of his young protégé, burying his muzzle into the other's dark purple mane. Dusk gave a pleasurable coo as Solaris inhaled his scent and nibbled his ear lightly. A moist, skilled tongue found its way along the length of Dusk's horn, causing him to moan even louder as the sensitive appendage was given a treatment not unlike the one he just given moments ago.
Finally, the mouth withdrew, and Dusk could feel Solaris begin to insert himself into his smaller body. Having never done anything like he was doing before, Dusk was understandably tense. The pain was apparent at first, but it surprisingly began to subside as he relaxed himself more. It suddenly became very pleasurable, and Dusk could feel himself becoming hard from the sensation of being filled by the pony he loved. Loving the feeling more and more, he unconsciously arched his back. Slowly and gently, Solaris eased himself in deeper, until his shaft was completely inside.
Arms wrapped around Dusk, and he was lovingly embraced. He moaned as his mentor held him close, blissfully content with simply being held so intimately by his favourite pony. He turned his head to lock lips with Solaris again, the alicorn's lips wrapped tightly around his own, massaging them.
Slowly and carefully, Solaris moved his hips back, then brought them forward again. Dusk broke the kiss and gave a low, guttural moan as Solaris hit his prostate. Beginning to lose himself in the moment as well, Solaris gradually began to pick up his pace, loving the feeling of the unicorn's tight, warm body. It had been far too long since he had last taken another pony to bed with him, and he had forgotten just how much he missed it.
The thrusts grew more rampant and feral, and Dusk was loving it. Incomprehensible noises were all he could give as his tongue lolled out, and his eyes rolled back. Again and again, Solaris's length rammed into his backside, with their gyrating hips synchronized to meet with each thrust. Dusk could feel himself drawing close with Solaris constantly hitting that magical spot deep inside him.
"Mmm—! Unh... ! Oh! S-So..l-lar..isss...!" was all Dusk could drone out as complete euphoria flooded his body. His vision blacked out momentarily as his muscles spasmed from the most intense orgasm of his life, his essence spurting onto the bed sheet beneath him. His front legs gave out as he collapsed forward, unable to hold himself any longer. The tiniest bit of drool fell from the corner of his mouth as exhaustion slowly began to creep up on him.
Reaching his own conclusion, Solaris gave one final thrust and a relieved groan as he released his seed into the depths of his student. The ecstasy that flowed through him was that of which the Prince had not felt in a long time. Several heavy pants later, he slowly removed himself from the unicorn under him. Solaris was by no means completely spent—possessing the stamina of a god, but chose to allow his sleepy partner a much-needed rest. He gently set his love's still-prostrated backside down, along with himself.
Summoning any strength still remaining, Dusk attempted to lift his head to try to look back at his prince. "I... I think we ruined your perfectly good bed sheets..."
"I prefer to think of it as... sacralizing them." Solaris hummed, resting his chin in the unicorn's mane.
"I was talking about the rain water..."
Solaris opened his eyes, now very aware that his own mane was still dripping wet. "Mmm... Disposable..." he muttered, closing his eyes once more.
Nestling under the covers, Solaris placed a final kiss on the back of Dusk's neck before snuggling the unicorn close to his chest, both of their heartbeats beginning to relax. The pair drifted off to the soft sound of the rain pouring outside.
Something was missing. The warmth that had been holding Dusk from behind was now gone. He didn't bother opening his eyes, though, as it would surely return shortly. There was more light coming through his eyelids, Solaris must have left to raise the sun.
The bed was so soft, he never wanted to leave it. The sound of hooves could be heard, indicating the presence of the one who was previously missing. The sound grew closer, and Dusk felt a soft kiss placed on his cheek.
"Dusk..."
He opted to lay perfectly still and enjoy to the fullest degree the hoof that was now gently stroking his form.
"Dusk Shine... Time to wake up..."
Nah, I'm good, thanks. Maybe if he continued to feign sleep, he could simply stay there and be stroked lovingly all day. It was amazing how such a light, simple contact could make him feel so nice.
"You know... that ridiculous grin on your face tells me that you're awake..."
Fuck. After a long, discomforting groan, Dusk opened his eyes to see the love of his life standing beside the bed holding a cup of coffee with his magic. He graciously accepted the mug, taking sip. Plenty of cream and sugar, just the way he liked it. "...It's Saturday," Dusk groaned. "Do I have to get up?"
Solaris chuckled. "Unfortunately, the job of 'Ruler of Equestria' doesn't come with many vacation days. Or holidays." His eyes rolled. "Or sick days." He placed a hoof on Dusk's side. "How do you feel?"
"Well... a little sore." Dusk answered truthfully. "Sore... but mostly really good. I think I'll take a nice shower when I get back..." He smiled to the Prince. "Thank you... so much."
"I'm glad you enjoyed it. I thought it was wonderful, myself."
The two sat in each others' company for a few moments. Dusk finished off his warm drink before looking away from Solaris, as if unsure of something. "I was just wondering," he began, once he was questioned if something was wrong. "Does this make us... boyfriends? Are we... 'together' now?"
Solaris smiled. "Only if you would like us to be," he answered. "If you feel that it is too much for you, we could simply go about our everyday lives and pretend this never happened..." he said, looking deeply into Dusk's eyes. "Or... we could continue loving each other as we do now. I will respect whichever you choose, Dusk. The choice is yours."
Initially, Dusk was unsure of what he wanted. What would everyone think? The Prince of Equestria having a homosexual relationship with his own personal student?! Ponies would be up in arms about it! He had loved it so much, though, and so had Solaris. How could something that felt so right for both of them be so wrong? "What would everyone think about that...? If we were together?" Dusk asked wearily, as if to verify his fears.
"Well..." Solaris began, looking off to the side. "If anyone were to have a problem with whomever I chose to take as my lover, I would ask them to prepare a formal written complaint..." Solaris looked back to Dusk, smirking. "I would then tell them precisely where they could shove it."
It was then that Dusk realized that he didn't actually care what others would think. He was being offered exactly what he wanted, and he was going to embrace it with open arms. All that mattered was him and Solaris, he didn't give a fuck about anyone else anymore. Dusk leaned closer to the white alicorn, never feeling as joyous as he did right then. "You're a lot of things to me. You're my ruler... my teacher..." his voice started to shake slightly. "I'd... really like for you to be my boyfriend, as well."
Solaris sighed happily as he took Dusk into a warm embrace. "I would like that, too," he whispered, stroking and nuzzling the unicorn. His head tilted as he was pulled into a kiss by Dusk. It wasn't a particularly lustful or hungry kiss, simply one of two ponies who meant the world to each other.
"I love you, Prince Solaris..."
"...And I love you, Dusk Shine..."
Though he would likely be late for his royal duties now, Solaris decided that he would rather stay for just a few moments longer, holding the student he loved dearly. The rest of the kingdom be damned.
The crisp morning air filled Dusk's lungs as he inhaled deeply, feeling much better about everything. His professors would likely wonder what had happened to suddenly turn Dusk's mood around. He could tell them, but they likely wouldn't believe him anyways. Not that it mattered, really. A little mystery was always exciting. Glimmer Shield would probably throw a fit when he would decide not to tell her the identity of his new special somepony. Two could play at that guessing-game bullshit.
It was amazing just how good Dusk felt. Like in those god awful romance stories he read, the only way he could describe it was that he simply felt... complete. Like he had finally found his missing piece. The entire thing felt like a growing experience, and would definitely make for an interesting letter to his parents (heavily edited, of course).
The sunshine above brought a different kind of warmth to him, now. Looking up to the beautiful blue sky, Dusk continued on his way across the courtyard, with the prospect of a new day putting a spring in his step.
The End
