Journal Entry?

Twilight was sitting in her library getting ready to re-shelve the books in the library after a good hour of carefully placing them in neat stacks. This always was her favorite time of the month as she always managed to a book or two that she had somehow never read.

In any case, today would be no exception as she had attempted to start and the first book she had managed to find was rather dusty and beat up. Obviously this book was neglected and time itself was having it's toll on the book. So with this mysterious book in magical grasp, she re-shelved every other book and placed the one she kept on the table.

Levitating the closest duster towards the book, ever so carefully did she clean off the dust on the cover. It did not get her any further than the dust being on there in the first place, but this time, she could at least read what was on the title of the book.

"'Old Norse'... Why have I never seen this book before?" With her mind turning the gears in her head, she grabbed a few dictionaries. None of which had the meaning to the title. With little choice, she decided it would be best to just open up and take a peak inside.

With practiced hooves, she carefully and painfully slowly opened the book to a page that was somewhat in the center of the book. Not understanding why the other pages had been stuck together, she just played with the hand she was dealt.

Unfortunately for her, not all of the text was there but it did appear to have a sort of journal entry. Surprisingly enough, it was written in the same language she speaks 'That's odd. This book hardly looks Equestrian. Let alone as if it belongs in any other country close to here'. No longer than the thought formed di it quickly get cast aside as she began to read.

In any case, I have no idea where I was originally going with this.

That one moment you start to look down on those whom you should have been cherishing the whole time is when you've truly lost yourself.

You can't see that until you do lose those people for sure. And then what happens? You cry. You get angry. You then come to acceptance that they may never come back.

But then there is that ray of Light that they have shined over you themselves. You see that Light, you beckon it forth. You cry out to it.

It responds by glowing brighter and eventually coming within your grasp. You hold that Light. You tuck it close to you. You hold it so close and so tightly, that it can barely tell that you are hurting it.

Instead of registering pain or fear of consumption from you, it merely relaxes in your hold and calls out the Light inside of you. Your Light hears the call but knows not where to go.

Feeling that your Light is in distress and cries out to the depths of darkness hoping that help will come, the light that came to you goes into you and looks for the source of your lights voice.

Eventually, the two Lights do find each other. They dance around each other in happiness that is misunderstood by the Darkness. With its own well-being slightly threatened, the Darkness leaves. It does not dissipate, it does not vanish. It merely leaves, knowing that it is no longer needed.

With the two Lights happy, they vanish from the husk known as you and go their merry way. You try to think of why the Light left you, but it's only when they get to their destination that you understand that they have not left you alone, but with someone by your side. And it’s because the whole time, it was not a Light that was calling out to another.

But rather, it was the heart of your friend that was calling out to your heart and begging it to keep beating. You were dying from the loneliness, that Darkness. But it's because you are no longer alone, does that Darkness go away. The Light of companionship shines and you see how bright that Light is. You see it all for what it's worth.

You hold that Light, that dearest friend whom you never want to ever lose again. You hold them so tight that instead of them crying out in pain, they cry and return your hug with just as much passion.

It's a warm embrace that is only felt by two people who hold each other close. Together, you and your friend have created a Light so bright, that the Darkness not only leaves, but it too goes on in happiness.

Just because it is Dark, it does not truly mean that it is trying to hurt you. It is merely crying out in anger as the Darkness that it is, rather than crying out in agony like Light. The Darkness knows its job and it has done well in bringing out not just your Light, but someone else’s too.

So, with the brightest of Light in your possession, you and your friend seek out that Darkness and call out for it. The Darkness eventually comes and asks "Why have you sought me out? Did you not want to be rid of me?"

You answer "I did, but I now I see that I should be thankful of you. If not for you, I would have never seen the Light"

The Dark then looks at you and takes a physical from. A mirror of your physical form. You merely smile and spread your arms. The Dark comes into your embrace, and you feel complete. You feel complete with the knowledge and power to do what you feel is necessary to live a happy life with the one you love.

At least, that’s all that happened in a nutshell. It actually took a long time for all of that to happen. And to this day, I’m still searching for my Darkness.

My name is Brisingr, and this is my story. I am on a quest, searching for my other. I would like to tell my story. From the very beginning to the unknown end.

109th Moon of the-

"Fifth Solar Year?! But that's the same time-!" Twilight quickly ran to her closest reference book and popped it open. With no longer than five seconds had she found what she was looking for.

The Fifth Solar Year was the very same year that Princess Luna, Empress of the Night and Co-Ruler of Equestira, recently turned Nightmare Moon, was banished to the Moon. It was the same year the Elements of Harmony had left Princess Celestia in search for new hosts. Only in a few months after searching did the Elements find new hosts, but the hosts were not of the same lineage as the princesses*

A star next to any given article of literature always meant there was a foot note. Twilight flipped to the back of the book and when she did find the reference to the stared passage, she was rather displeased as it read No further Entry. The author of this book will pay anypony who uncovers the history behind the years of the missing elements

With a slight bit of annoyance, Twilight continued to look in the library for any given clue that might reference to her newest book. But alas, after hours of searching and no result did she finally give in. "I just can't find it! I give up"

Spike walked inside the library from his latest attempt to earn Rarity's affection and was a little surprised to see Twilight moping. Instead of asking to find out, he decided to snoop around the current area to figure out what made her so depressed. When he did find the new book, he looked at it somewhat shocked asking "Twilight, where did you find this book?"

Twilight looked up to her assistant and shrugged. "Honestly, it just popped out of nowhere" she said to him and then placed her head back down. Not wanting to see her like this, Spike opened the book to the same page she was on and read until he look upon the name of the writer "Brisingr? Why would somepony be named Fire?"

Not knowing whether it was her imagination or truth, Twilight quickly ran up to Spike "What did you say? Are you telling me that the name in this book actually has a meaning?" Spike looked into her crazed eyes not in fear but in complete sympathy.

"Well, yeah, of course it does. It's not a very good name either. Brisingr means Fire in ancient Draconic. But why would anypony be named after an element?" Spike asked but he was confused at the look twilight gave him. It was almost as if he could peer into her mind through her eyes and see the gears in her head work over time. And not wanting to stay in harms way did Spike quickly jump away from Twilight and go to the other side of the room. Only after five minutes did she finally move. But it wasn't to go anywhere. It was to sit on her rump and speak "Spike, take letter".

Will quill and parchment in hand did he prepare to write "Dear Princess Celestia..."

ELSEWHERE

Princess Celestia was in her castle minding presiding over the Royal Court of the Day when the letter materialized in front of her. She was surprised a bit but shocked when she read one specific line that was written by her faithful student "I'm going to find out where the other Bearers of the Elements of Harmony came from". Without further thought did Celestia begin to write her own letter in response. She only hoped that Twilight would understand

"...This is not a matter that you should concern yourself with. I'm sorry my faithful student, but some things are better left forgotten. Your meantor, Princess Celestia"
