Chapter One: Why are you late?
She could almost feel it, The wind flowing through her mane. The sun beams on her wings. The little orange filly took off into the wind,flapping her wings as hard as she could. She saw the ground disappear as she broke through the clouds. The filly turned her head toward the teal sky and felt the warm sun on her face and smiled.
A loud buzzing noise filled her ears and broke her concentration. Scootaloo opened her eyes and rolled over to slam a hoof down on her alarm clock. She snuggled back under her blanket, desparaete to get back into the clouds. Her ears twitched when she heard her door creak open.
A minty green mare with a chocolate colored mane walked in. "Scootaloo, get up now. You're going to be late." Scootaloo sat up in her bed. " Ok Miss Mocha." Miss Mocha left Scootaloo's room. Scootaloo got out of bed and brushed her mane. She made her way down the hallway toward the bathroom. She jiggled the handle and found it to be locked. An angry frown spread across the filly's face. Scootaloo pounded on the door with both of her hooves. "TwinLeaf! If thats you in there you have five seconds to get out!" Shouted Scootaloo. "Make me!" came the voice of an older colt from the other side of the door.
Scootaloo banged on the door a few more times. "When i get back, Your voice wont be the only thing that cracks!" Yelled Scootaloo. She gave up on the bathroom and went down the wooden staircase. Miss Mocha stood at the door. The Green pony handed Scootaloo's saddlebag to her. "See you later." Said Scootaloo as she grabbed her bag and gave Miss Mocha a hug. Scootaloo set out towards the school. She knew she was running late and her normal route would put her another ten minutes behind. Scootaloo made a quick decision and made the all too fimilar left turn at the library. She walked down the dirt road enjoying the time she had alone. She didnt get much time to herself;but who would if you lived with twleve other fillies and colts? She passed Sugarcube Corner and could smell the sweets wafting throught the open door. Scootaloo's stomach growled loudly.
"Thanks alot Twinleaf!" she grumbled as she continued walking. No time to eat all cause she couldnt get into the bathroom. A rainbow streak blurred by her and broke her train of thought. It was the coolest mare in all of Equestria:Rainbow Dash! "Hey squirt." said Rainbow as she skidded to a stop in front of the orange filly. "Hey Rainbow!" said Scootaloo with a smile. Rainbow looked at Scootaloo quzzically. "Why arent you in school?" She asked. Scootaloo sighed. "Im late." Rainbow grabbed the little pegasus and put her on her back. "Hold on tight!" Said Rainbow as she took off. Scootaloo had never gone that fast before and had to grip the blue pegasus' mane just to keep from falling off. In no time at all they had arrived at the school. Scootaloo climbed down. "Thanks Rainbow!That was so cool!" exclaimed Scootaloo.
Rainbow Dash waved her hoof and smiled. "Ten seconds flat." She said and she flew off. Scootaloo felt great. She wore a smile into the classroomand quietly took her seat. "Why are you late Scootaloo?" asked Miss Cheerilee without having to turn from the lesson she was writing on the board. She knew when one of her students was not in class. Scootaloo fumbled for an answer, she couldnt let everypony find out the truth. "I stopped for breakfast and um..lost track of time.." Said Scootaloo. Miss Cheerilee sighed. "see me after class." Scootaloo put her hooves on her head. 'Miss Mocha isnt gonna be happy with me.' She thought. Across the room Applebloom nudged Sweetie Belle. "Ah didnt see Scootaloo this mornin, somethin aint right." She whispered. Sweetie Belle nodded in agreement.
Miss Cheerilee began the math lesson. Scootaloo looked at the worksheet in front of her. Math was not her strongest point. The day trudged on and the clock ticked closer and closer to recess. Scootaloo realxed in her seat. Her thoughts turned to the stunt she was planning on trying on the playground. The bell soon broke her thoughts and the class went outside. A crowd gathered around the swings as Scootaloo swung huger and huger. She became level with the bar and flapped her wings to send her right over the bar!She came back down to a roar of cheers. Scootaloo smiled at her accomplishment. "Congrats Scoots! Ah didnt know anypony could make over tha bar!" said Applebloom. Scootaloo thought back to the ride to school that Rainbow had given her. She smiled."Ten seconds flat." Said Scootaloo. The fillies spent the rest of recess playing hide-and-seek. It was Sweetie Belle's turn to be 'it' when Miss Cheerilee called everypony inside.
The class returned to their seats and Miss Cheerilee went over the homework and ending announcements. The bell rang, dismissing the class. All the students walked out of the class happily talking about various things. Scootaloo stayed behind and walked up to Miss Cheerilee's desk. Miss Cheerilee looked at the orange pegasus."whats the real reason you were late?" she asked. Scootaloo crossed her hooves. "its Twinleafs's fault. He wouldnt let me in the bathroom." Said Scootaloo. Scootaloo looked at her teacher. Miss Cheerliee wrote a note and put it in Scootaloo's saddlebag. "I know its hard living at the orphange but you cant keep being late." said Miss Cheerliee. Scootaloo knew her teacher was right. "I know.. ill be on time." said Scootaloo. Miss Cheerliee smiled. "Give that note to Miss Mocha and have a good day Scootaloo." said Miss Cheerliee as scootaloo got up and walked out of the classroom waving goodbye to her teacher.
Diamond Tiara sat next to the cracked window giggling. "Blank flank Scootaloo is an orphan?" Snickered Diamond. Diamond walked toward her friend Silver Spoon's house. She approched the big gray house and knocked on the door. Silver opened the door and Diamond walked inside. "i have news! Scootalooser is an orphan!" Diamond said smiling. Silver Spoon smiled but inside her thoughts were racing. Silver thought about what would happen when the class found out which with Diamond, it was inevitable. "Hey Diamond. Lets go get a cupcake. but we cant tell anypony about this till tommorrow." Diamond smiled. "I like the way you think, lets go!"
