The World Begins With Friendship

"So? How'd it go?" Rarity asks curiously.

Twilight shrugs. "He's really weird. He's definitely not from here. I asked him some questions, but they just bounce off of him. He said he name was Neku Sakuraba."

"Oh. Where's he from?"

"I don't know! I asked him, but he doesn't know either."

"You know what I'm going in."

"What? Rarity no!"

But it was too late. Rarity had blared in, but settled down when she heard him snoring.

"He's asleep," Twilight snaps at her in a whisper when they're inside.

"I can see that," Rarity responds flatly. "He's kind of... cute, don't you think?"

"Rarity! This is no time for... This!"

"Fine, fine, let's leave."

I can see a face... A girl's face. She has glasses.

Shiki.

How did I know that?

Neku wakes up, and turns to see an orange pony with blonde hair and... freckles. To be honest, he's never seen a human with freckles before.

"Alrighty thar pardner?"

"Yeah, yeah. Who're you?"

"I'm Applejack. You're Neku, right?

"...Yeah." Neku scrolled through the songs. Calling. He hit play.

"Why do you wear those headphones all the time? Don't you know it's rude?"

Neku turns the volume up awkwardly, fidgeting without fingers.

...

Suddenly, they're yanked off.

"What." Neku asks sternly. Applejack's face burns up.

"Are you listening to a word I'm saying? Why're you ignoring me? Is it 'cause I'm a girl?!"

"No." Neku stares coldly into her eyes. "I treat males and females with the same amount of respect: none. If I don't give a rat's ass about you, then you shouldn't to me!"

Applejack starts to slap him, but is quickly restrained by Rarity, who had just entered.

"Lemme at em!" Applejack shouts out, restrained.

"AJ!"

Applejack storms out with Rarity closely eyeing her.

"Twi', he's a no good, son of uh-"

"AJ!"

"I was gonna say 'mule'."

"We need someone else to caretake. How about you, Fluttershy?"

Three other mares nod in agreement.

"It's settled, then. Fluttershy, you're going in."

"B-but-"

"Don't worry about it! He's not one to talk."

"Ok..."

Sigh.

"Another one of you? You're not going to try to attack me like the last one, are you?"

"N-no," The yellow Pegasus squeaked. Neku stopped. He felt truly guilty.

"I'm sorry, it's just.. I'm a bit upset." He tries to explain, but can't find the words for it. Once he discovers this pony isn't one for conversation, he turns the music back up.

"Umm Mister Neku, can you wake up? Your food is here."

"Hmm?" Oh, must've fallen asleep. "Right. Didn't catch your name there."

"It's, erm, Fluttershy." Of course, with her quietness and Neku's headphones, hearing that would be impossible.

"Well, alright then, Putterpie. Well..." He grabs the tray. "Time to dig in. Dig in whatever this is..."

After they had all left, Nurse Redheart came in to introduce herself, as she hadn't had the chance while he was asleep,  and relieved Neku by informing him he could leave.

"Alright, and try not to fall from the sky, alright Neku?"

"Yes, Nurse Redheart..." Like he wanted to. He tried to get up, but had a hard time balancing on his hind legs.

"Uhh lil' help here?

He took a step outside, and braced the morning light. It hadn't even been 3 hours, but the time in there felt like a lifetime. He had been told to meet up with Twilight at her library.

What is with these hooves?! He thought angrily. He stomped at the ground in anger. Not because of the hoof thing, but because of his amnesia.

Who was that girl?

I don't get people. Never have, never will.
