New mare in office

It was an exciting day in Ponyville, a day that comes only once so often, a day in which Mayor Mare makes an important announcement. Every Mare and Colt in town has gathered in front of town hall, chatting away about what this announcement could be about. The mane six were situated in the middle of the crowd, including Spike, who was happily sitting on Twilight Sparkle's back eating an apple that he had received from Applejack.

"Attention citizens of Ponyville" announced the Mayor, who was situated behind the speech table on the top round balcony of the town square building. After her first words the audience quickly silenced themselves. "I have an important  announcement to make, I will be leaving Ponyville for the week to attend an important conference in Canterlot. I need somepony who will be willing to take my place for the time being". The audience broke their silence.

The mane six moved away from the center of the crowd towards the back and started talking to one another. "Ya'll here that? The mayor is leaving us for a short while. I sure do hope she finds somepony willing to take her place." Said Applejack. Spike turns to Twilight and says "Hey, I bet you would make a great mayor. Your intelligence can fix any problem that comes in your way" said Spike. Twilight blushes, "Oh Spike, that is a nice gesture, but I am pretty sure that I'm not the only one around here who would want to make a good mayor." she said.

A short pause take place within the group for a few seconds. "I know what we can do! We should hold an election!" shouted Twilight. The mane six nodded their heads in agreement. "Oh, this is going to be so much fun!" shouted Pinkie Pie. The Meanwhile the Mayor looks down onto the crowd. "Oh my, so many ponies to chose from, so little time.". The mane six run up to front of the audience. "Hey, um, Mrs. Mayor, we suppose that we should hold an election, does that sound like a good idea?" said Twilight, looking up at the Mayor, who is still situated on the balcony. "Oh an election, why haven't I thought. This will surely make things easier" said the Mayor in response.

"Ahem" as the Mayor cleared her throat, the audience silences themselves once more. "Alright everypony, I have a tremendous idea. We will hold an election, each candidate will have a chance to become temporary mayor of Ponyville while I'm gone. There will be up to five candidates, no more and no less. The polls will be open in 2 days, good luck everypony." said the Mayor to the audience.

Pinkie Pie bursts into joy. "Oh boy, this will be so exciting - We will have streamers, balloons, oh! And cupcakes! Can't forget those! and..." Twilight Sparkle suddenly interrupts Pinkie Pie, "Pinkie, this isn't a party. It's an important event to determine who will lead this town for an entire week!". "I know... But who ever said that elections can't be fun?" Pinkie replied. Twilight interrupts once more "Everypony will need a right hand mare. A vice candidate. And it needs to be a living pony, not an object". "I know" said Pinkie. "Hey Rarity! Will you be my right hand mare? for the super-duper election?". "Sure thing Pinkie Pie, I will design a fabulous dress for you to wear during your speeches." Rarity replied.

Rainbow Dash flies all the way to the clouds and back down again in joy. "Wow, this is going to be awesome! I may have won some amazing contests before, but never anything like this! I'm going to be the best mayor ever! ...After I beat you all, of course." Twilight interrupts Rainbow Dash, "This isn't a game. You need to be willing to operate an entire town." Rainbow Dash responds "I know, who ever said elections can't be awesome?" Twilight sighs. Rainbow dash zips towards Fluttershy. "Hey Fluttershy! Will you be my right hand pony?" "Okay... If you want" Fluttershy says quietly. "Perfect! I'm sure to win now that I have my own vice candidate." Shouted Rainbow Dash.

Twilight responds "I wasn't originally going to be part of this race. But you two don't seem to be the perfect ponies to run this town, no offense." She said. Applejack walks towards Twilight Sparkle, "Say Twi, can I be your right hand mare?" "Sure thing Applejack" Twilight replies. The mane six gallop towards the mayor again. "Hey Mayor! Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie and myself have decided to run for temporary mayor" "Oh good!" Said the mayor, "I have already found two good candidates an was looking for three more, and now I don't have to continue looking. Meet Trixie and Iron Will. They will be running along with you three." She said. "Let the elections begin!".
