Chapter I

A blue pegasus mare walked out of a house. There were strange blades on her wings, they were a crimson red. She took a look left and right, as well as behind her. She let out a sigh of relief, and began to walk down the path. "Maybe i could make it to town today without any trouble," she said, "Oh! I almost forgot." She went back inside the house, and came back out wearing a cloak. It hid all of her body, except her muzzle and hooves could still be seen. She began to walk down the path again, and yet again, stopped. "How could i forget my saddlebags when i'm going for food? Sheesh." She said, walking back to the house again. Once again, she walked back outside of the small house on the side of the path. She had saddlebags that had what looked like ripples on them. She began to walk down the path, looking over the horizon as she did. There was a clear view of ponyville from the mountain the house was built on. The view was enough to make her smile. "Its hard to find joyful moments anymore these days." She said, as she walked down the path.

The pegasus mare shoved her way through a crowd, mumbling as she did. Her saddlebags were quite clearly full. She pushed her way out of the crowd, to the edge of the town. She walked up to a house built near a hill, and knocked on the door. The door opened, to reveal an earth pony mare with a brownish-tan coat, and an orange mane. "What do you want?" The earth pony asked the cloaked pegasus. "Calm down, you know its me, Sonic Rain." Sonic told the mare. "I came to get the Wing-Blades sharpened." "Well, alright. Come on in." The earth pony said to Sonic. They walked inside the house, to a room with an anvil, a furnace, a workbench, and some tools in it. Nothing else could be seen in the room, for it was only lit by a single lantern. The blue pegasus put down her saddlebags, and took off the cloak, to reveal the crimson red blades on her wings. "You know, somepony is going to mistake that red color for blood some day." The earth pony said. "Yeah, but isn't blood a deeper red?" The pegasus asked. "I suppose it is. Anyways, take them off, so i can sharpen them." The earth pony answered. The mare began to slip the blades off her wings, revealing that they were hollow. She then gave them to the earth pony, and stood back to let her work.

"Thanks, Quartz. You're the best blacksmith i know." The mare said, slipping the now-sharpened crimson blades onto her wings. "Thanks. But aren't I the only blacksmith you know?" Quartz said in response. "Good point. I need to be headed back, don't want to give the clones a chance to catch both of us at once." Sonic said, putting the cloak on and then putting the saddlebags onto her back. "Get going, then. Its taken us long enough as it is." Quartz pointed out. The blue pegasus walked out of the door, and then waved before she began to walk off. It was a bright and sunny day, it was amazing out. The best part? The clones weren't attacking. She smiled, and hummed a happy tune to herself as she walked down the crowded street. She walked out onto the path that lead back up into the mountains. She continued to hum the happy tune as she walked up the hill. When she got to the house, she abruptly stopped humming the song. Somepony was in her house.

She set her saddlebags down, and then there was a ripping sound as the blades on her wings tore through her coat. She walked up to the entrance of the house. The door had been broken off its hinges. She could hear a pony banging around inside the house. She walked inside, to see a pony with a yellow mane inside. There was 16 on its ear. As soon as it noticed her, it had leaped at her. In a single swift movement, she sidestepped, and then swung the blades on her wings towards the attacker. It was a short fight, and she had won. She had put a huge gash through the pony's side. There was a flash, and it disintegrated, the 16 glowed for a second after, then disappeared. She inspected the house. There wasn't much damage, other than a door that had been knocked over, and a dent in the wall. She tucked her wings in, for she wouldn't need them right now. Sonic walked outside, and picked up her saddlebags. She set them down on a counter as she went back in, and then sat down on the floor. She let out a sigh. "It was such a nice day too." She said, as she looked out the window. She shook it off. "Might as well unpack my saddlebags." She said, as she walked back over to the saddlebags on the counter, and began to unpack them.

There was a crunching sound as she bit into the apple. The door had been put back on its hinges, but there was still a dent in the wall. She suddenly stopped, as if she had heard something. "Is that... a siren?" She asked herself, as she walked over to the large window facing ponyville. There was indeed a siren going off. As well as panicked ponies running around. She watched as a unicorn ran past her house. "What in equestria is going on?" She asked as she ran outside. She put up one of her wings to block the sun from getting into her eyes, and was knocked off her hooves as another running pony knocked her over. She got back up, and looked back down at ponyville. It was smoking now, one of the houses must have caught fire. She looked closer, to see the house hadn't only caught fire, it had exploded! That explained all the sirens and running ponies. She heard a crash come from her house, and saw that one of the windows had been smashed. She didn't have time to do anything, because whatever had been in there must have been explosive. Pain exploded in her side, as her house exploded as well. She got up, blood coming from a few cuts in her side. She ran up the path, away from ponyville. Something was attacking, and it wanted as many ponies as possible dead.

She stopped, gasping for breath. She had ran quite a ways. Her side still hurt, but a few of the cuts had stopped bleeding. She looked around. She was in a tunnel that went through the mountain Canterlot was built on. She must have been running for a long time to make it this far. She sat down, and debated what to do. Should she survive in the wilderness, or risk being attacked again in canterlot? Either way, she needed rest. Sonic started walking to the end of the tunnel, and then looked up. It was still a bright sunny day out. She smiled. Today could still be a good day. She stretched her wings. They hadn't been hurt in the explosion, so she should be able to fly up to canterlot. She flapped her wings, and began to fly up the mountain, only to be stopped when something flew past her face. "What was that?!" She asked. She heard a "Pling!" and another one went flying past her. She began flying up the mountain again. There was another "Pling!" sound and the projectile went flying past her again. She dove into a cave, hoping she could hide from the attacker. Sonic crept to the edge of the cave entrance, and looked down. Only to have another one of the projectiles fly right over her head.

She shot back into the cave, and decided to look at where the cave went. It seemed to slope up, and the only other noticeable detail was the fact that the rocks got more jagged as it went up. She began walking up the cave, hoping she might be able to go to canterlot, without getting one of those projectiles embedded in her. She let out an "Ow!" as she stepped on one of the sharper rocks. She kept walking. She looked at the sides of the cave. Something about this cave bugged her, made her want to get out. Then she realized. The cave had been dug by a machine! So it wasn't actually a cave. It was a tunnel. She increased her pace. She didn't want to meet the machine that had dug this tunnel anytime soon. She tripped on a rock, and there was a "Clang!" as one of the wing blades fell off. She quickly got back up, and picked up the wing blade in her mouth. She would put it back on later, she was in a hurry right now. That was when she began to hear the growling noise.
