I quickly spun around and pulled the trigger of the pistol I had, but no one was there and the bullet hit the wall. “Whos there!?” Silence filled the room, it was quite deafening. “Huh...Back to the grind!” I turned back to the weapon and reached for my wrench. Someone said something again, muffled though, I can't quite make it out. “WHOS THERE!?” I screamed, it echoed through the room. I put my hoof to my chin in confused thought. “Am I going crazier?” Just then I felt....Something, something was telling me maybe. “Who said that?” I asked looking around with my eyebrow raised. “Is there a ghost in here?” It said ‘here we go.’ in a loathing type of voice.
“You dare mock me!?” I fired the pistol at the wall again, the sound echoing around the room again. I felt it say ‘what the hell?’, as if it was confused. I was confused too, I was FEELING something, as if there was a voice echoing in my brain. “Who are you?” I called, looking around to see if I could pinpoint it this time. I felt it again, but it was muffled to the point I couldn’t hear it. “....Just, shut up and let me finish.” It spoke again, something about a ‘cliche villin about to be defeated again’. “WHAT DO YOU MEAN AGAIN!? I HAVE NOT FAILED AND I WON'T!”
‘Yeah right, the writer always make the bad guy lose horribly or win effortlessly, and its obvious you're going to be defeated.’ It said this time.
“WHERE ARE YOU!? I’LL END YOU!” I shot the rest of the clip into the ceiling, hoping to hit SOMETHING!
‘...Are you actually responding to me?’ It said rather confused.
“Yes! Now show yourself!” There was a long silence and some clicking sounds.
‘Huh, the story looks like it progresses normally...’ It said. ‘It looks like I’m just imagining this...’
“What in the world are you talking about? Story?” Now I was the more confused one. Who ever this is is speaking strangely.
‘....This is getting way too weird for me...’ I felt it sigh, and I have to say I agree with it.
“I need a break.” I sighed and left the room I was working in. I walked into my kitchen and pulled out some bread and jam.
‘That makes me hungry.’
“Shut up stupid voice...” I mumbled and made myself a jelly sandwich. I sat down at the table and ate, the place was dark, mainly cause I left the curtains closed, I was never a morning pony.
‘Doesn't it get stuffy in there?’
“Sometimes, but I air the place out when the moon comes up.” Oh great, now I was talking with it. I let out a heavy sigh and took another bite of the sandwich. “Lets see....I need a cart, a large cloth, and.......A remote detonator! Thats what I was forgetting!” I chuckled softly.
‘...Seeing as you actually reply to me, why are you trying to nuke the world?’ It asked, might as well indulge it, its not like it can do anything other the make me feel like I’m crazy.
“Because I want to, deal with it.” It chuckled, I must have said something funny.
‘I don’t have to deal with it, you're not even real, this is all prewritten to mess with my mind.’
“And I’m the crazy one, YOU'RE the one not real! You're just a voice in my head!” I slammed my hooves on the table and looked up. “WHy don't you just leave me alone!?” I yelled as loud as I could. The long silence brought me some happiness, must mean it left me alone.
‘Nope.’
“DAMMIT!” I slammed my head on the head, which was followed by a chuckle from the voice. “Can’t you just let me get back to work?”
‘How am I stopping you? I’m just talking to words on a screen.’ This voice really was crazy. I levitated my gun to my head and- ‘WHOA WHOA WHOA! Stop that!’ I set the gun down and let out a aggravated groan.
“Go. Away!” I groaned in frustration. “You are distracting me!”
‘I just stopped you from killing yourself and your saying I’M distracting?’ It sounded rather offended. ‘How about this, let me show you the world can be good if you be good to it back. If I’m wrong then I’ll stop reading and go onto something else.’
“You? Show me the world? HAH! You don’t even exist! How could you show me the world?” I growled, this thing is getting on my nerves and using them as a trampolin.
‘Just do what I say, you’ll see.’ Might as well, this thing isn’t going to let me get back to work anytime soon.
“Fine.” I grumbled.
‘Good, now head to the nearest town.’ I got up and walked to my front door.
“Wait, I’m a unicorn, I can just teleport.” I facehoofed and did so, the town I was closest to was Canterlot, looked nice but everypony here was stuck up. “Now what?”
‘Walk around for a bit.’ I sighed heavily and began to walk around, getting nasty glares from the posh ponies who think their better then everypony. It was getting rather boring when I suddenly heard some crying. I turned and began to walk away from it, hoping I could just ignore other ponies problems.
‘Go check it out.’ I tripped and fell on my face.
“What!? No! Its not my problem!” I growled, my nerves are about to take a dive.
‘Then you're enforcing that the world is a bad place, go check it out, trust me.” I let out a long groan and turned to the crying. I made my way around a corner and saw a little filly crying over the remains of a dropped ice cream cone.
“Wonderful, can I go now?” I said with a little hope in my voice.
‘Buy her another one.’
“OH COME ON!” I slammed my head into a wall.
‘Just do it!’ I groaned again and walked over to the ice cream shop which was a little way away.
“Can I help you?” Asked the pony behind the counter.
“Yeah, give me a.....Chocolate ice cream, medium.” I said boredly. After a few moment he gave me the ice cream.
“That’ll be ten bits.” I payed him and walked out of the shop, the filly was still crying over her ice cream.
“Hey.” I called as I walked over to her. She looked up at me with tear filled eyes. “Here.” I gave her the ice cream and walked away. “There, what was that suppose to do?”
‘Wait a moment.’ It spoke. I stopped and waited, then I felt something bump into my back leg. I turned my head to look at the little filly from before, holding the ice cream in her magic while she gave me a hug.
“Thank you so much!” She then skipped off happily while licking away at her ice cream.
“....Huh.” I felt weird.....Something good...
‘See? You just made the world a little better with a cliche set up. It was like that was put there to make my point.’
“I don’t see it.” I shrugged. “Can I go home now?”
‘Are you going to kill yourself?’
“No.”
‘Are you going to blow up the world?’
“Not yet.”
‘Then go ahead, I have to go to the next chapter to see what happens next.’ Next chapter? Is this thing reading or something? I shrugged it off and teleported to my room, laying in my bed to go to sleep for the morning.
