Nightmares Rising

"Luna, what is the matter?" asked Princess Celestia.

Luna had been keeping a secret for days now, and Celestia could tell. Princess Luna kept her mouth shut and looked at the ground, rocking back and forth nervously. Princess Celesia stared at Luna with deep, caring eyes, "Tell me, Luna. You know I'll always understand."

Luna bit her lip and looked up at Celestia, "I-Um...Fine." she sighed, "So....we have received a letter from one of our gaurds."

"What did it say?"

"Well....um....that..."

Celestia waited patiently.

"There is a.....a.......another princess besides us and Cadence."

Princess Celestia looked confused, "What do you mean?"

"We would not like to speak about it."

Celestia looked shocked, "Luna, speak." she commanded.

Luna took a deep breath,

"Sister, thy Princess of Nightmares is coming to visit."

Celestia's face screwed up, "What?"

"The Princess of Nightmares."

Celestia looked even more shocked than before. Suddenly, her face turned from blank to angry, her pale face turning a bright shade of pink, "How come I don't know about this?"

Luna made a weird face.

"Go on, explain!" Celestia shouted.

Luna turned her head away.

"Celestia.....we.....I......" she sighed and started speaking:

"On the moon, we learned many things. Things thou don't even want to know about.....we learned.....I learned......Celestia, I am not your sister."

Princess Celestia was shocked, but a slow smile tugged on the corners of her mouth, "Oh, come on Luna-"

"No, really!" Luna interrupted.

"But how is it possible? I am sun, you are moon!"

Luna's eyes teared up, "We are only half related! I can't keep this secret any longer! We have a younger sister, Eclipse, the princess of nightmares. Please don't send her to the moon!"

Princess Celestia's eye twitched. There was an awkward silence. A royal guard burst in.

"Her royal majesty Princess Luna, a visitor is here to see you!"

Luna turned to him, "Be there in a moment." She turned back at Celestia, who was still in shock, and walked out the door.

        A pony a little smaller than the royal guards stepped into the giant castle entrance. She looked around, admiring the scenery. She had a jet black coat and a black and purple mane. Her eyes were like a cats, her pupils shaped like daggers. Her irises were red, and the whites of her eyes were tinted pink. Her wings were dragon like, save for the feathers coming from the sides. She had a horn that squiggled as it grew up. She had a strong resemblance to Nightmare Moon and Luna mixed together, with the wings, eyes, and sharp fangs of Nightmare Moon, and just the general thought of Luna when somepony looked at her. She still strongly resembled that of a normal pony, quite like a taller Twilight Sparkle. She wore black and orange leg warmers and a black striped grey scarf. She hadn't brought anything with her except for a small suitcase with her most valued possessions: Her plushie wolf, a particular looking silver necklace, and a small, polished, purple-black stone.

Luna rounded the corner and trotted over to her, "Hello Eclipse, thou is pleased to see you again."

Eclipse nodded shyly and marveled at the size of the castle, "U-um.." her voice cracked, and she coughed to clear it.

"Hi....Luna..............." she said quietly. Princess Luna smiled soothingly and wrapped a feathery wing around Eclipse to comfort her. Eclipse wasn't used to going new places, and was always nervous when she did. Eclipse cleared her throat again and smiled, her red eyes tearing up. She of course knew Princess Luna, and she had been this kind, bit it hadn't happened in so many years........Dream was very grateful. Ponies who knew her usually didn't like her at all though, they called her evil and a disgrace who should just be sent to the moon. After all, being princess of nightmares, it was her job to be mysterious and a bit scary, and her job to create nightmares. Luna bit her lip......Celestia.

Celestia shook her her head to clear her shock. She sensed a presence, like Luna's, but stranger. One you might feel if someone was watching you, about to strike. Princess Celestia heard something and perked up her ears. It was a faint talking. She followed the sound to the door, where she put her ear against the wall, listening intently.

"So, Eclipse......." Celestia heard Luna say, "Um.......thy has heard of our fair sister Princess Celestia?"

"Um.........I guess..."  came a young voice, younger than Celestia expected.

"She doeth not know of you." Luna whispered, "So....please expect shock and.....suprise"

"Oh, I'll show her surprise.." Celestia grumbled and burst through the doors, crashing into Luna who was about to open them.
