//-------------------------------------------------------// A Friend In Need -by BloodOathHooves- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Meeting //-------------------------------------------------------// Meeting The vile and white winter had thrown the land amok. After the long ordeal of blizzards and snow storms, the ponies had the day marked on the calendar, grabbed their plows, and tilled the land for spring. All the birds, bunnies, and bears alike, were awoken and given homes, and were settling in. All the other ponies were tuckered out by the hoof busting long hours of hard work. Winter was "wrapped up", the ponies were proud of the work, and they were tucked in bed. Nopony WANTED to be awake right now; sleep held them in the vice of exhaustion But one pony drowned the dry air, with a drop of despair. Her mane, usually as white and soft as the most picturesque cloud, was turned the color of a dark cloud on a rainy day. The waterfalls of tears ruined and mangled her coat like she had been thrown about. The cold froze her bones in place, she shivered to fight the might of the arctic winds. The freezing of the air wouldn't help the cold plaguing  her, and she knew that. But that was the least of this pony's thoughts. Vinyl's Blue hair stood up high. She had a day of staying in bed, searching for rest, that would never come. She spoke to herself: "How come all the other ponies always seem so happy?" She sniffed, the cold made her crying bothersome. "They all talk about they're friends... and I sit here and wonder..." She looked up, as if asking the sky her question. "Where are my friends?" The clouds were stirring, the night had taken advantage of the sleepiness of the pegasi of Ponyville. Clouds ruled the sky, and the only ray of light shining down was a light of pity for this sad little mare. The clouds started to pour a barrage of ice cold water droplets onto the ground. "I should head inside..." She thought to herself. She turned around, and started heading back through town to seek shelter in the empty shell she called a "home". While passing through town, she noticed a pony walking around outside. What was she doing at this hour? Even with the tangled and wet mess, Vinyl could still recognize the vibrant colors of this mare's tattered mane. It was a pony that was always at her shows, always smiling, and always dancing around with her friends. Vinyl stopped and thought to herself: "What was that pony's name again?" The name suddenly jumped into her head: Rainbow Dash! The mare, blanketed by the shadows, disappeared behind the bakery. Vinyl's mind snapped: "I have to talk to her!" Vinyl sprinted. With shallow and labored breaths, she stretched her body and ran on pure instinct. Suddenly, something like a freight train hit her face. She blinked, trying to clean her vision of the already dark world around her. She slowly slipped out of consciousness, watching the shape she was just chasing turn and stand over her. The mare's voice rang in her ears, but the call of sleep finally ensnared Vinyl. Vinyl heard a sigh from a pony as she came to. She awoke, the sleep weighted her eyelids, but she opened them with a little effort. "Ah, your awake." A voice chimed in her ear. Vinyl looked to her side, and saw the rainbow-maned pony. The blue haired mare jolted up. "Rainbow Dash!" Vinyl burst out. Rainbow dash was shocked at the mare shouting her name and stepped back. "Y-yea... that's my name, you don't have to shout." Rainbow said, as she held her ear in pain. As Vinyl struggled for words, she noticed that she was in another pony's house; Books decorated shelves like they were a staple in this house, Vinyl had never seen so many all in one place. Rainbow looked at the pony, expecting for her to say something. The sound of a door opening was heard below, and Vinyl watched as a purple coated unicorn walked in. Vinyl was puzzled; how long she had been out? The unicorn had reached the platform where she was resting in bed. "So, how's Vinyl doing Rainbow?" "Ask the mare herself Twi." The unicorn Rainbow Dash called "Twi" looked at her. "Hey Vinyl!" she exclaimed, "How're you?" Vinyl struggled for words "I'm... um.. alright..." she lied. She couldn't stop staring at Rainbow Dash's colorful mane, it was strange because she's never been fascinated about the colors of spotlights at the clubs she DJ'd at. Why am I so interested in this pony? Vinyl asked herself. Twi was still looking at Vinyl wondering what to say, she had never spoken to this blue maned mare before. Rainbow Dash yawned, "Well Twilight, I've gotta get back to the weather, there's a storm scheduled at Three." Twilight looked confused "But, you never worry about the weather..." Rainbow rolled her eyes "Whatever" she scoffed as she got out of her seat. she spread her wings and quickly darted out the window. Vinyl was unmoved, she felt out of place, like this was all a dream. "Well, it seems you're looking fine now, you should probably get back home..." Twilight suggested. Vinyl sheepishly nodded and got out of bed, she looked around to assure herself it wasn't a dream. She walked home slowly, She realized she never got to talk to Rainbow Dash. Vinyl opened the front door and walked past Octavia on her way to the stairs. "hey, where have you been?" Octavia prodded. "Out" Vinyl responded coldly Octavia bit her lip worryingly, she hadn't seen Vinyl like this in a long time... not since... Tavi brushed the bad thought away, she didn't want to think about that now, She had rehearsals for the Gala coming up, she was supposed to have a big part in it. Octavia didn't want to fall behind for practice, but she was worried for Vinyl. Octavia had thoughts of Vinyl all day during her rehearsal when all Vinyl did was sleep, Vinyl was lost, and she couldn't find out why, there was something about Rainbow Dash, Something that reminded Vinyl about herself... and her dark and ugly past... She cast the thought aside and tried to sleep. She dreamt of Rainbow Dash. Chapter End
