//-------------------------------------------------------// My Little Secret: Death is Hungry -by TheExhaustedBrony- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Prologue: Making Friends //-------------------------------------------------------// Prologue: Making Friends Fluttershy has always had a special connection with animals of all shapes and sizes. Today was no exception. Today she was going to have a tea party with Mr. and Mrs. Bear, it was about time they had a little chat about reducing Mr. Bear's stress levels. Fluttershy kept on telling him that he just needs to loosen up. "Okay, tea? Check! Cups? Check! Sugar? Check! Looks like I've got everything I need." Fluttershy carefully placed all of the items into a basket, waved goodbye to Angel, and headed out the door of her cottage. Today was going to be a good day. She didn't even notice that she entered the Everfree forest. Fluttershy was so sensitive that the shade from the forest was enough to send her into a full blown panic attack, but not today. Today she just knew that something was going to happen today and she was ready for it. As she was prancing along, she felt a very sharp sting on her neck, "Ow!" Fluttershy cried. The initial sting wasn't that painful, but it was the surprise that made the experience all the more excruciating. She put her hoof up to where the pain was to find something that she could not have possibly prepared for. No amount of talking to herself assertively in a mirror could have prepared her to find a large brown and yellow worm. "Hey there little guy. Did you sting me?" Fluttershy was not angry or frightened, but entranced by the small creature and found it cute. She saw it as being a potential new friend. "I've never seen anything like you before. What are you? The worm just wiggled around in Fluttershy's hooves and nestled itself comfortably in her embrace. At that moment, something in Fluttershy's mind clicked and she decided to bring the worm back to her cottage and skip the tea party, surly the Bears would understand if they were in her current situation, right? With great care, the yellow pegasus carried her new friend back to her home. She opened the door and gently placed the worm on her living room carpet. The worm was emmiting a sound that reminded her of a cat's purr. The worm lay motionless and appeared to be sound asleep. "Wake up sleepy head. We're home." Fluttershy spoke in her usual kind and soft tone. it wiggled around a bit and lazily lifted its head and looked at its surroundings. The worm tensed up and began spastically scanning the room. It quickly scurried under the couch. Fluttershy, chuckled. She peeked under the couch to see the worm coiled up at the very back towards the wall. "Aww, it's okay, don't be afraid. I know that this place isn't what you're used to, but I promise I'll take good care of you. I'll make sure that you get fed properly and grow big and strong. We'll be best friends." Fluttershy smiled softly, a technique that she used to show her compassion and her words were genuine. The worm cautiously slithered from its hiding place. It looked up at Fluttershy and made a sound that reminded her of a parasprite. This made her giggle. This creature was adorable. The kind of cuteness that would make you an outcast if you didn't love it. The worm quickly slithered up Fluttershy's leg and perched itself on her head. "Tee-hee, comfy up there, little guy?" Fluttershy realized that the worm didn't have a name, "what should I call you?" Fluttershy put her hoof up to her chin, contemplating all the possible names to give to her new friend. After about a minute of thinking, she came up with a name, "how about Mister Wiggles? How's that sound to you? You like it?" The worm began dancing and chirping excitedly, confirming that he accepted the name Mister Wiggles. His smooth exterior playfully rustled Fluttershy's mane. It was almost like a snake, in the way that it's entire body feels like a flexing muscle. "Oh! You must be hungry, Mister Wiggles!" Fluttershy looked up at Mister Wiggles and he nodded his head. "Don't worry, I'll fix you something real quick!" Fluttershy flew into her kitchen and looked through her pantry and brought out five different kinds of animal food and put a small pile of each on the floor in front of him. "I don't know what you'd like, so I brought out a little something of each." Fluttershy watched as the worm approached each pile and carefully studied it before tasting it. However, despite the variety, Mister Wiggles rejected each one. "Oh, I'm sorry, I just don't know anything about you. I don't know what kind of food you like to eat. If there's some way for you to give me a hint, I'll try my best to make accommodations for you." Fluttershy saw that Mister Wiggles was not looking at Fluttershy, but instead saw his gaze fixed on a blue jay, that was flying above. It saw the worm and flew down to investigate. The blue jay hopped around, tilting its head to see the worm from every angle. Then without warning, the worm opened it's mouth like a blooming flower and a tentacle shot out of the depths of the worm. Fluttershy was shocked to see it latch onto the bird and watched as it desperately tried to fly away. However, the worm began dragging its prey closer and closer to it's mouth until it was inside. Mister wiggles closed his mouth and one could hear the muffled chirps and flapping from inside. Two minutes passed and the sounds of the blue jays struggles ceased. "Oh my... that's what you like to eat? Well, thank you for telling me. I'll make sure to get you what you need from now on, Mister Wiggles." Fluttershy could feel a pulsing sensation where she was stung earlier, it didn't hurt, but something in her mind told her that this was okay and that feeding the worm was what was most important. Nothing in Equestria would stop her from caring for her woodland friends, no matter what. Author's Note This was an idea I came up with the same night I started writing The Last Stand. So in other words, this is old and it wasn't until recently that I decided to actually go through with it. It's been a while since I've written a new story, so keep in mind that while I'm open to criticism and your thoughts on my work, overly harsh and hateful comments will be ignored/deleted.
