The Shadow Pony Written by: CrimLight Prologue It was completely dark in Ponyville. There was no light except that of shining Princess Luna, galloping across the skies. Long shadows stretched across the ground. Among the shadows, a pair of eyes opened, one pale silver, and the other bright green. They scanned the empty square. Moving silently, they darted amongst the shadows until they were close to the light. Tentatively, the pony to whom the eyes belonged stepped into the light. Silver as the moon, with a jet-black mane and tail, she shone in the darkness. She trotted across the square to a huge tree with a door. Curling up on the front step, she settled down for the night. Closing her eyes, she saw the cutie mark on her flank. It was a single ray of light shining through a black cloud. Light she thought sleepily. I am Light. I'll answer any questions from readers and I would really appreciate some feedback! Twilight yawned and stretched. She slowly hauled herself out of bed, squinting at the bright morning light. Rubbing her eyes with one hoof, she slid down the stairs and walked over to the table she had been reading at last night. Picking up the book there, she walked towards the door. Staring at her spellbook, she fumbled about for the doorknob. Finally locating the small handle, she turned it and flung the door open. It thunked aqainst something. "Ow!" Twilight dashed outside, spinning to see what she had hit. It was a small silver pony with a black mane, rubbing her head with tears in her eyes. Twilight felt awful. "I'm so sorry! I didn't see you there!" The pony smiled weakly. "It's okay. I didn't know you were there either." Twilight couldn't help but grin at that. The pony stood up. "Anyway, my name's Light. Sorry about falling asleep at your door. I was very tired and very hungry, and I've traveled a long way on hoof. I came to your home, hoping you were friendly, and went to sleep. I'm sorry for disturbing you." Twilight was taken aback. "Disturbing? You weren't disturbing me. If anything, I'm glad you're here. You seem like a very sweet pony, and I'm delighted to meet you. My name is Twilight Sparkle. Welcome to Ponyville!" Light opened her mouth to speak when her stomach rumbled. She looked away, blushing with embarrassment. Twilight smiled knowingly. "Come on. Let's go get you some food." Light looked up at Twilight gratefully. ~*~*~*~ "HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUH?!!" Pinkie Pie gasped so loudly that Light jumped and hid behind Twilight Sparkle. "TWILIGHT!" Pinkie exclaimed. "Is this a new pony? I LOVE new ponies! We should have a party! Okay, I'll get balloons and food, you make invitations-" "PINKIE!" Pinkie Pie froze mid-sentence. She smiled. "Yes?" Twilight rolled her eyes and huffed with impatience. "AS I was SAYING, this pony is Light, and she's very hungry-" "Oh! That's why you brought her here!" Pinkie bounced around placing various sweets on a huge platter. Dumping the platter onto a table, she shoved Light into a chair. "Eat up!" Light picked up a cupcake and took a tentative bite. Her eyes widened. "This...is...AMAZING!!" She tore into the rest of the pile. Pinkie whipped out a stopwatch from who-knows-where and started it. By the time Light was done, only one minute had passed. Pinkie and Twilight's mouths dropped open. Twilight was the first to speak. "H-how did you eat ALL THAT FOOD so fast?!" Light smiled shyly. "Well, I was very hungry...and it was so good... Thank you, Pinkie." Pinkie beamed at her. "You are SOOOO WELCOME! I can't BELIEVE you inhaled that so fast! That must be a world record! RIGHT HERE IN MY BAKERY!" She bounced around with delight. "AWESOME!!!" Light grinned, happy that Pinkie Pie was so excited. "Thank you very much for the food." She burped, then blushed so badly her entire face turned pink. "Excuse me...." ~*~*~*~ Walking up to the door of Rarity's boutique, Twilight Sparkle paused and looked behind her at Light. Light was shaking with nerves but smiled weakly at Twilight. "I-I'm okay," she stammered. Twilight frowned, doubtful. "Are you sure?" Light nodded, trembling. "Twilight turned back to the door. Opening it, she and Light walked inside. Suddenly, they heard somepony scream in horror and fear! Glamour and JewelsThe Shadow Pony: Chapter 2 Glamour and Jewels AN- Hi again! Once more, I am CrimLight. Chapter number two is up! I’m really enjoying writing this series, and hope that you enjoy my hard work! Please, if you read this, add a comment or review! Rarity, her purple curls bouncing, pointed at Light with one shaking hoof. Poor Light was terrified and was wide-eyed with fear. Rarity opened her mouth. "Oh my goodness! You need my help immediately! Just LOOK at your mane and tail!” Rarity ran down the steps and seized poor Light, dragging her back up the steps. Twilight ran after them and arrived at the top, panting, to see Rarity shoving Light into a tub of warm water. Rarity dashed over to a door, opened it, and disappeared inside. Light slowly reached one hoof outside the tub and was about to hop out, but Rarity reappeared carrying shampoo, sponges, and conditioner. “Oh, no you don’t! You’re staying right there!” Rarity pushed Light back into the bathtub and dumped shampoo on her head. “You are going to stay put until I’m done. You REALLY need a nice bath and brushing!” With that, Rarity poured conditioner onto Light’s head and began rubbing it in, talking to Twilight Sparkle the whole time. “You know, I’m the best pony stylist for miles,” she bragged. “You should have brought her to me earlier! Speaking of which, is she new? I haven’t seen her before. She is SO ADORABLE! I bet she would look FANTASTIC is a sea-foam dress with black lace. Oh, I can almost see it now!” Done washing Light’s hair, she set about scrubbing the disheveled pony’s body. “She’s so dirty, the poor thing! But what can you expect? She must have come a long way if she’s been this long without a nice scrubbing. And her mane would be FABULOUS with a good brushing. I have this lovely little pearl hair holder. It would be absolutely PERFECT for her!” She pulled Light out of the tub and gave her a towel while she drained the water. “Does she ever stop talking?” Light whispered to Twilight Sparkle.” Twilight smiled and answered softly, “You get used to it. She’s really very nice once you get to know her. She’ll want to give you a whole new wardrobe, so be prepared.” Light nodded and turned to face Rarity, who now held a hairdryer and brush. “Alright, let’s do your hair!” She set Light down in front of a mirror and started drying and brushing Light’s hair. Light quietly sat and endured the painful tugging at her mane and tail. Rarity picked up a small pearl hair tie and slipped it over Light’s mane, pulling it tight. She sighed, smiling. “You look absolutely breathtaking now. I want to make you some new-“ Rarity was interrupted by a huge BANG as a streak of rainbow-colored pegasus came tumbling in through the window, colliding with the unsuspecting Light. Light was pushed toward the edge of the second floor balcony and, with a gasp, fell over the edge. Life Isn't All RainbowsThe Shadow Pony: Chapter 3 Life Isn't All Rainbows AN- It’s CrimLight, back for more! Here’s my third chapter, up at last. I’m sorry it’s so short. If you like it, comment- if you don’t, comment anyway. Thank you! Twilight Sparkle and Rarity shouted Light’s name at the same time. Twilight dashed to the edge, leaning over the balcony. “Light? Are you okay?” Suddenly, Light appeared below them. She looked up at Twilight and smiled. She replied, “Yeah, I’m fine, thanks to this pegasus. The said pegasus appeared below them. “Hi, Twilight!” shouted Rainbow Dash, waving at a dumbstruck Twilight Sparkle. “Happy to see me?” Rarity trotted up beside Twilight. “Rainbow Dash, that wasn’t very nice! You shouldn’t just come crashing into my boutique!” Rainbow Dash scowled. “Yeah, well, nothing’s broken, is it?” Rarity shot back, “That’s not the point! You nearly hurt Light very badly!” Rainbow Dash looked at Light sheepishly. “Yeah…sorry about that….” Light grinned. “Well, you saved me, so it all evens out, doesn’t it?” Rainbow Dash smiled back. “Yeah, I guess it does.” Twilight interrupted. “Well, Light, now that you’ve met Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, and me, it’s time for you to meet Fluttershy! I’m sure you’d be the best of friends!” Twilight smiled encouragingly. Light gulped nervously. Twilight grinned. “Let’s go!” Twilight Sparkle knocked on Fluttershy’s door. Light watched all the animals running, flying, walking, and hopping around her with a smile. Fluttershy slowly opened the door and peeked out. “H-hello?” she whispered. “Twilight?” She opened the door a little wider. “Here, come on in.” Twilight walked through the door. Light tiptoed through the door after her. Fluttershy held the door open just a little wider. Light smiled shyly at her and Fluttershy smiled back. Fluttershy closed the door softly behind them. Fluttershy walked over to one of her animal friends. “Oh, my, Angel. You’re out of carrots, aren’t you?” Fluttershy turned and pulled three carrots from a box. “Here you go.” She pushed the carrots toward the bunny rabbit. “Eat them if you want to.” She walked over to Twilight and Light and sat down. “Welcome,” she said softly, smiling a little. “I’m Fluttershy. What’s your name?” Light smile shyly back. “I’m Light. It’s nice to meet you, Fluttershy. Your house is amazing!” Fluttershy blushed. “Thank you,” she said. Light looked around the house. On every wall were animal homes, big and small. The closets all held animal food and supplies and the floor was covered with Fluttershy’s animal friends. Twilight coughed to get Light’s attention. “Light, now that you’ve met Fluttershy, we should go see Applejack.” Light turned toward Twilight, embarrassed. “Okay.” They walked out the door, Fluttershy waving goodbye.
