Through the Eyes of My Little Pony
Shock and Horror
Load Full StoryToday, I woke up before dawn for some reason. It was half past 4 and it felt to me that something wasn't quite right. Ignoring the feeling I got out of bed and headed towards the bathroom. I fell onto my face and immediately realized something was wrong: I couldn't keep my balance.
"Is that you, Ter?" Victor groaned sleepily from the other side of the room.
"Yeah...Uh, I- I can’t stand up straight." I said, almost not noticing my unusually high voice. I prop myself up on the bathroom sink.
As I extend my arm to turn on the light, I noticed something strange. Fur?
"I must be dreaming," I say to myself. As I turn on the light, I realize that I’m not. I screamed at the mirror’s reflection. In it, I didn’t see my face, but the face of a bright sky blue pegasus staring back at me in the mirror.
"Aagh! What the-" I yelled, completely dumbfounded by my current condition. As I (finally) sober up out of my drowsiness, I slip on a puddle of water and that shuts me up.
"Ter, quiet down! Can't you see I'm trying to sleep?" Victor growled as he got up to see what I was screaming about. Boy, was he in for a shock when he saw my tail.
"What?! What happened?!" Victor asked in shock.
“I don’t know! I woke up like this!” I shout back. Victor paced the room for a moment or two.
"Okay, okay. Here’s what we’ll do.” He began. “We go back to bed for a few more hours. Then, when we get up again, I’ll figure out some way to hide you or something. Alright?" He explained as he crawled back under his sheets.
"We'll do something during the day. Don't worry, pony." I glared at him, but agreed.
I couldn't sleep after getting back in bed, I just couldn't. What was I supposed to do when I saw my grandparents again? Walk up to them and say: Hey, I've been turned into a pony, so I have to go to New York looking like this. Anyway, since I'm in this state, I should probably find out who I am.
Let's see here, Silver mane, sky blue coat, cloud Cutie Mark- ! Of course! My own OC, Silver Cloud! This is odd, but I guess it works out. Better than changing me into some random background character from the show. As for getting out of here unseen, I’d have to wait. I should get some more sleep for now, I'm beat.
Even with the excitement I’d just went through; I was finally able to pass out after tossing in bed for a while.
We wake up again, around 8 ‘o'clock.
"Well, that was a good night's sleep." Victor says. I turn on the light. As he walks out the room to the bathroom, I decide to stay get used to moving around and flying.
"Well, Pegasi should be able to fly easily..." I say to myself as I open my wings and wiggle them experimentally.
"One...two...three!" With a mighty flap of my wings, I fling myself into the wall beside me. "UGH!" I groan.
As I recall recent events, I'm actually a bit grateful for not turning into a pony back home. Today's checkout day though.
"Hey, Ter." Vic's voice interrupted my thoughts.
"Yeah?" I answer.
"You know, nobody here has turned into a pony before."
"So?"
"The receptionist is gonna freak out if he sees you like this." Apparently I’d forgotten about that earlier, because as soon as those words leave his mouth, I’m filled with anxiety once again.
"...You're right." I say.
"Got any ideas?" I think for a moment.
"I might be able to fit in my bag."
"Do you think it’s big enough?"
"You've seen me pour all my clothes in my oversized bag and you don't believe me?"
"But you’re still pretty big." he says.
"I'm not much bigger than a dog." I counter.
“Alright....”
After a few minutes of adjusting myself, I am completely inside my bag.
"So? Is it convincing?" I asked. "Hardly." He says in a sarcastic tone.
"Cut on the sarcasm, man! I don’t want to get caught like this, kay?" I countered.
"Meh, alright." is his response.
I feel a tug, and the next thing I know, I'm lifted into the air. Since I'm in the bag, I can't see anything.
"Hey, you're very light compared to what I would have guessed." He says.
"That explains the crash landing earlier" I say.
“What?”
“Nothing.”
A few minutes later, I hear a few buttons being pressed as I am sat on the ground again. "Don't move, we're in the lift." Victor says. I acknowledge and hold myself as still as I can. I feel a jolt and am hoisted off of the ground again. A few seconds pass and I’m able to hear what sounds like cars passing by. I’m sat on the ground again and forced to wait.
After what felt like forever (which was actually just ten minutes) I'm given the signal and I peak my head out of the bag. I’m surprised to find myself in my brother's car, driving towards who-knows-where.
As I crawl out, the only thing I manage to say is "I owe you big time," I say before lying down on my stomach in the front seat.
"Where are we headed?" I ask, after some small talk.
"My friend's house."
"Who?"
"You know Sean, right?"
"Yeah?"
"We're not going to his house." He says, chuckling.
"So, who is it?"
"Yee Ming."
"...Okay..." I start to say right before a sharp turn makes me slam my head against the door.
"Heh, sorry." Vic says, clearly trying to suppress laughter.
"Hey, Ter!" Victor says. I awake with a start.
"Huh?" I say, confused. "When did I fall asleep?"
"We're here!" He says.
"Oh." I say while I stretch.
We entered Long's house and sat ourselves down.
"Could you tell me again why we're here?" I ask.
"His parents are away." Victor replies. "Plus, we're out of fuel." He adds.
"Right." I say.
“Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m gonna take a nap.” He leaves without another word.
Okay, let's recap on what happened. It's October. I'm not at school because the basement was flooded and my dad, seeing this opportunity to get us to bond, got us a room at a hotel which was somehow still dry. After that, I turned into a pony and now here I am.
"Hey, Terrence." I almost jump out of my skin- or fur, rather, when Long's voice interrupted my thoughts.
"What?" I reply, irritation clear in my tone.
"Have you tried flying?" He asks. I admit that I hadn’t thought of trying to fly again because of the crash landing at the hotel.
"Well, maybe you can try on the roof, not many people are around right now." He answers. "Alright." I reply.
He sets up a ladder for me on the side of his house. I climb up to the top and flap my wings. I’m thinking that I understand how this works now. I flap harder and pick myself up off of my hooves. I’m in the air! As I fly higher, I realize that flying can be an escape from the ground's confines. In my stories, Silver Cloud was never a good navigator, so I test out just how accurate that is. About 3 seconds later, I have my proof as I crash into a low hanging cloud. Those things are harder than they look!
"Come on, Ter! You’ve been up there forever!" Ming shouts up to me. I return to the ground.
“How long have I been up there?” I ask.
“About an hour.” Ming replies.
"Well, time sure flies while you're flying." I say.
We reentered his house.
"Well, it's dinnertime." Victor says, awake.
"Did he remember my 'condition' when he prepared the food?" I ask.
"Nah, your meal is in the fridge, just in case." He answers. I sigh.
“Thanks.”
“Don’t mention it.”
After eating in silence, we draw straws to see who will get which room. To make a long story short, I get paired with Yee Lin. Yee Ming's, really annoying, younger sister.
But somehow, I’m able to sleep in peace instead of practically getting cuddled to death as I expected.
