It was 3pm, the world was moving, the school rush hour was at its height, but time seemed to stand still for me and Jayne. We were at the hospital, as we had been for many days now. She was dying, I could not come to face it but she was...
Jayne and I were still in the room together at 5pm, she had clung on for almost two weeks now, I could not stand to see my lover in such a weak and hopeless state. I had fought to keep back the tears by smiling since she was diagnosed with cancer, I knew Jayne would die soon, and so did she. another ten minutes passed, we were talking to each other in our final moments together; about everything we had done and wanted to do together. All I wanted at that moment was another chance for her... but as the world works in strange ways, my wishers were unheard, this was goodbye . The infernal repeating beeping of the pulse machine started to grow erratic, and we knew what was next; she uttered the words "I love you" to me quietly... and the machine fell silent.
My smile, could not break the wave of sadness that swept over me as she lay there, still in the hospital bed, as people rushed around me. I stayed with her, as she grew cold, for some time, before I was ushered out of the room. I made my way home, not thinking that anything was worth it, until our child sparked a hope in my eyes; I thought, if life goes on, then I should too...
Jayne awoke in a green and pleasant land, she felt at peace; she asked no questions, she rembered nothing, she just moved on through the land which she believed was the next life... When went over the crest of the hill, she saw something, she did not believe it, but she saw it; a town, a town that did not look human...
A Beginning, and an end
I know this is very short and rather different from my current fic, but I have been recently hit by the loss of my girlfriend Jayne, she was everything to me... She tought me one thing though, she taught me that Life does, and will go on
