Chapters Love is the Best Lubricant
Spike walked amongst the various market stalls of Ponyville. The dragon’s green head-fins seemed to glow as he smiled at the various residents of Ponyville. Grasped in his long, muscular, prehensile tail was a basket full of his groceries. Verdant green celery, lettuce and broccoli, slightly yellow tinged onions, deep red apples, bright yellow bananas, and two large loaves of bread speckled with whole grains dominated the top of the basket. Below that were over a dozen precious gemstones that he had spent the afternoon excavating with his powerful front claws.
The dragon nodded to various stall owners. All the shopkeepers were nestled inside their pitched tent stalls. There were canvas shelters of all kinds including striped, plain, polka-dot, plaid, and tye-dye. Of those, the constitutive colors ranged from fluorescent teal to desert khaki Inside each tent a single pony and the occasional pair could be seen selling various goods. Most sold agricultural produce of some kind, but there were many that sold furniture, crafts, and other high-end goods.
As Spike passed the Apple family stall he leaned back onto his hind legs and waved with a front claw cheerily before resuming his continual plod down the road. He passed a large red and white striped tent and turned to a side street just opposite of Sugarcube Corner.
The large dragon took a moment to stretch out his membranous wings. He curled his tail, still holding the basket, in front of him and looked at the food therein. His stomach gave a soft growl.
“I’m with you there buddy,” the winged reptile chuckled. “It all looks so delicious. I’m sure Sweetie Belle will be able to make something amazing with all this.” As thoughts of burnt cereal and solidified orange juice permeated his mind, Spike shook his head and chuckled, “Maybe.”
With that the dragon flexed his neck towards a purple-roofed house with white siding and green trim on the windows. A broad smiled extended over his lengthy muzzle as two fangs peaked out of the sides of his snout. He walked to the door, and reached behind one of his head fins to pull out a small key. He inserted the key into the keyhole and turned it, moving the bolt and unlocking the door. He stepped inside and closed the door.
Inside Spike saw their living room. Two couches were set at right angles to one another surrounding a large table. The walls were lined with cedar paneling with one bookshelf on the right wall. Past the living room the kitchen could be seen. Off to the right was a hallway that led to their bedroom.
“Sweetie! I’m home!” Spike called out. “And I brought fresh groceries!” A moment later Spike could hear the soft patter of hooves on the oak floor. Out from the left of the room, coming from the basement, was his love.
Her coat was a serene white and her mane done up in soft curls and waves. On her flank was a cutie mark displaying a heart. Sweetie Belle walked to her husband and smiled warmly.
“Always good to have some fresh groceries in case I... burn something.” She looked into Spikes eyes and gave a contented sigh.
“How are you feeling?” Spike asked seriously.
“Good, the creams the doctor gave me made healing go much faster. No pain for the last two weeks,” she answered. Sweetie Belle looked behind Spike to look at the basket he was toting along. “What did you get?”
“Oh, lettuce, onions, bread, a few gems, all the stuff for a nice salad,” Spike replied as he sat on his haunches and scratched his green fins.
Sweetie Belle gave a coy grin. “Salad... you never get that unless you want a romantic meal.”
“Well... it is something that you and I can make together.” Spike coughed and lowered his clawed forefoot to the ground, smiling sheepishly.
Sweetie Belle extended her neck and pecked Spike on the chin affectionately. Her soft lips left a slight warmth on her dragon’s scales.
“Alright,” the alabaster mare said with a saccharine flutter of her eyes, “let’s get started on the salad.”
Sweetie Belle turned and walked to the kitchen, adding a little bit more sway to her hips than she usually did. The basket Spike had been carrying floated by in a soft purplish-pink glow that brushed against his side. The dragon gave a small roll of his eyes. She always goes for the long build up. With that thought Spike walked into the kitchen after his wife. She had already floated out the lettuce from the basket and was rinsing it.
“Spike honey, do you feel like frying the onions and some of the other things you got for the salad?” she asked without turning her head from her task. Spike walked to the basket and took out the onions and apples. Sweetie Belle’s tail swished against Spike’s own tail. Spike selected a plump onion and two red apples before he went over to a drawer and opened it.
“Sure thing Sweetie, but where’s the tin foil?” Spike asked as he frowned at the drawer, noting the distinct lack of what he was looking for.
“Oh!” Sweetie Belle exclaimed. “Sorry, I used the last of that roll last night. There should be one in the pantry downstairs.”
“Alright, I’ll go get it,” Spike replied as he set the onion and apples down on the counter. He left the kitchen and soon headed downstairs. Down in the basement was a lone hallway that extended a few dozen feet underground. Off to the sides were several doors. The purple-and-green reptile walked by each, mentally going over which door was which. Den, guest room, furnace room, …, laundry room, pantry. With a quick smile Spike turned the handle and went inside the pantry, his tail flicking the light switch. On the bottom shelf were several rolls of paper towels, a hammer, a flashlight, box of nails, and the item Spike was looking for. He picked up the tin foil and made his way back to the stairs.
Laundry room, … Spike looked at the room to his right. He opened the door leading into the room. His lips turned downward as he peered into the darkness. He could make the faint outline of a crib he had built two months ago. One day we’ll adopt. Spike flicked a tear out of his eye; when it landed on the concrete floor it hissed and steamed away.
He walked back upstairs to see Sweetie Belle chopping up the lettuce with a knife clasped in her magic. Spike went over to a set of drawers and pulled from one a knife and from another a large plate. Grasping the blade with his claws, he set to cutting up the onion and apples into a fairly small pieces. With that done the dragon pulled out a length of tin foil and formed a bowl from it with his claws, careful not to pierce the thin metallic sheet. He scooped the diced mix of apples and onions into the bowl and closed up the foil. He gave it a gentle shake and then proceeded to lift the foil bag upwards.
Spike took a deep breath and blew out. Flames issued forth from his mouth and bathed his scales and the foil bag. Purple claws deftly and dexterously turned the bag about in the small controlled blaze Spike had summoned. His hand barely registered warmth from the light green fires pouring over it. The former assistant of Twilight closed his maw briefly to inspect his work. He could hear the faint sizzling of well cooked apples and onions inside and he grinned.
Out of the corner of his eyes, Spike could see that Sweetie Belle had placed the lettuce in the salad and was chopping up some bananas to add to the mix. The adult dragon reached over and put his bag of cooked salad ingredients to the side. He grabbed his knife and started slicing up some celery stalks. Every so often Spike would spear a piece of celery and bring it up in front of his face. He’d part his lips slowly and let his serpentine tongue slither out and coil around the small victual. Sweetie Belle looked over at him and gave a sly wink. Spike flicked the end of his tongue at her after he had wrapped the piece of celery. He drew the small speck of food into his mouth and crunched it in the molars at the back of his jaw.
Soon Spike had his vegetable prepared and added it to the bowl. Sweetie Belle lifted the bag of grilled onions and apples and added it to the mix. She lifted a pair of salad tongs and used them to toss the salad, fluffing up the leaves and mixing the ingredients evenly. She floated over a bottle of salad dressing and poured its contents into the bowl.
“Spike, would you like to choose some gems to add to your salad?” Sweetie Belle inquired.
Wordlessly, Spike nodded and went over to his basket. He looked over the contents and scrutinized each gem. He saw an azure sapphire and brought it out with his left hand. He adjusted it so it fit between his thumb and index, and gave it a light tap with his other front clawed appendage. The jewel gave out a satisfying thrum that Spike picked up. Perfect resonance, he thought as he placed the gem to the side.
He selected a topaz and two amethysts in a similar manner before he turned back to his wife. She was standing there with one of the bananas she hadn’t chopped up levitating by her mouth. She opened her mouth while looking at Spike and plunged the banana into her throat. Her sides heaved a little when it first entered, but she soon began suckling the fruit. Spike shook his head at Sweetie Belle and she slid the fruit out.
“Not my cup of tea Sweetie,” Spike said.
“Well, supper’s ready. I just thought you wanted to see something to pique your interest,” she said as she floated over two bowls filled to the brim with salad. The ivory mare floated the four gems Spike had selected and deposited them one by one.
Plink, plink, plink, plink.
As Sweetie Belle tried to walk by Spike reached over and grabbed the two floating bowls and put them on the counter.
“Hey!” Sweetie Belle complained before Spike leaned over to plant his lips on hers. Spike simply kept his mouth in place and suckled for a few moments. Sweetie Belle glared at him momentarily before her eyes softened. Spike pulled his head back and looked at her.
“If you wanted to build some anticipation,” Spike began as he reached his front claws into Sweetie’s mane. “All you had to do was let me do this.” Spike began scratching Sweetie’s head with his claws gently.
“Mmmmm, that feels nice,” the white unicorn said as she leaned into Spike’s claws. “This is wonderful,” she sighed as her husband relieved all the itches she had ignored all day.
As his wife continued to hum her contentment as he applied himself, Spike felt his heart rate increase by a small increment. After a minute he stopped his ministrations and walked to the table, coiling his tail around his salad bowl and bringing it to the table with him. He smiled as he heard the soft harumph of his wife as she plodded to the table with her own salad.
The white mare plopped the bowl onto the table and lifted up a fork, immediately impaling a helping of lettuce, apples and onions. She took a quick bite, chewed quickly, and swallowed. After she did so she took a deep breath and looked at Spike. She resumed eating at a steadier pace, constantly looking up from her bowl to see the dragon eating his own meal.
Spike grasped a fork in his hand, and carefully poked at the contents of the salad to give himself a measured serving of lettuce, celery, banana, onion, and apple before he opened his mouth and slowly brought his fork up to it. He wrapped his lips around the fork, and slid the fork out, depositing the greenery into his mouth. The onions and apples had been caramelized to perfection. The salad dressing and celery gave the salad a nice bite to it while the bananas balanced out the flavour with their creamy smoothness. In a word it was perfection. From time to time Spike would take one of the gems with his other hand and pop them into his mouth. He chewed them and each gave off a certain energy to them, like electricity arcing through one’s mouth. Accompanying each was a certain flavor. The topaz had a lemony tang, the amethysts tasted of grape, and the sapphire left the cool palette cleansing feeling of fresh spring water.
Spike closed his eyes once he finished his meal before giving a contented sigh. A light brushing sensation dominated his belly as he opened his eyes and noted the soft glow of his wife’s magic working at his belly. It felt like a warm blanket fresh from the drying machine had been stretched over him and was squeezing and massaging at him gently. Spike looked over to see his wife smiling broadly.
“So you’re really willing to try again tonight?” he asked.
Sweetie Belle gave a quick and rapid nod as the warm magical field tightened around Spike’s waist.
“Alrighty then,” Spike chuckled, “maybe it will work this time...”
Spike lifted himself from the table, the warm field still surrounding him. He walked through the living room and down the hallway as Sweetie Belle moved the field to massage his shoulders and wings. I spend most of my days at work helping other couples get through their problems.” To emphasize the point Sweetie Belle swished her tail over her heart shaped cutie mark. “This is ours and together, we can get through it. Trust me?”
Spike sighed as he turned his head back to his wife. It had been less than a year since they had married, but they’d never been able to consummate. He stepped to the bed and got on with his wife.
“So, massage then scratch, or scratch then massage?” he asked playfully as he put on a smile.
“Mmm, massage first then scratch!” Sweetie exclaimed happily as she stretched out on her belly.

Spike extended a wing over his wife and nodded. “Alright,” he agreed as he drew her in close with his membranous limb.

Spike and Sweetie Belle walked through the door to the Ponyville library. Inside they saw Twilight Sparkle humming to herself as she floated various books into a number of different shelves. The purple unicorn looked over to the door and saw her two guests.
“Oh, hi Spike, hi Sweetie Belle! Just give me a moment and I’ll be right with you.” Twilight quickly placed a few more books on the shelves and placed the others in an organized pile by the stairs.
Spike and Sweetie Belle walked over to a couch. The white mare was walking with a slight limp in her hind quarters and leaned against her husband for support. Twilight turned to the couple and smiled happily.
“How are you both doing? How’s working for the Apple family working out for you Spike? And how are you taking to your job as a marriage counselor Sweetie?” Twilight glanced over at the kitchen quickly. “Would you like tea?”
“No thanks Twi,” Spike stated morosely, looking down at his feet.
“Oh! Well, what about work?” the lavender mare asked.
“Work is fine Miss Sparkle,” Sweetie answered. She winced slightly at the pain in her nethers. A dull throb and rash had formed from the previous night’s failed attempt at intercourse.
“Sweetie Belle, is something wrong? You seem pained.” Twilight lowered her head concernedly as tried to look into her technical adoptive daughter-in-law’s eyes.
The alabaster unicorn gulped as she turned away from the purple mare. “Spike and I... have been having difficulties.”
Twilight pulled her head back. “Oh dear! How bad is it? You’re not considering divorce are you?”
“No!” Sweetie yelped as a tear flowed down her muzzle. She leaned against Spike who was tearing up himself to emphasize the point. “We love eachother very much. But we’re having trouble...”
“Showing it to eachother,” Spike completed the statement as he reached a padded foot around his wife’s shoulders.
“Showing it? You’re doing that right now. Leaning into one another, completing each other’s sentences,” Twilight chuckled. Spike looked up at his adoptive mother with a hurt pout. Twilight’s eyes widened as she realized what she had done. “Omigosh! I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to make light of-- I thought you two had gotten through that.” She frowned at her social ineptitude.
Spike sighed and started to talk. “We tried that spell you offered, the one to surround my... Sweetie couldn’t keep it up when she... uuuuhhhh... arrives and so we didn’t want to risk it cutting out while I was... Celestia, is this hard to talk about.”
Sweetie Belle cleared her throat and looked up at Twilight. “That was when we tried creams, lubricants, even medications to help me be... receptive. It hasn’t worked. Do you think that there’s a spell you could think of that would help us?”
“Well, that shield spell would require me to be present if you can’t hold it on your own,” Twilight said.
“No, you’re not watching,” Spike hastily exclaimed. “It was bad enough with the wedding guests waiting for us downstairs after we had our wedding at Sweet Apple Acres.”
“I wasn’t suggesting that I was just thinking out loud.” Twilight turned away and lifted a hoof to her chin as she bit her lip. “Channelling spells cast by Sweetie Belle won’t work. That eliminates shield spells,” Twilight muttered as she stood up and began pacing. “A general anesthetic spell wouldn’t prevent damage. Medication hasn’t alleviated it.” Twilight turned to Spike and asked “Would you be willing to undergo surgery to have them...? No, that could cause nerve damage. Maybe there’s a spell...”
Twilight stopped pacing as she looked into empty space. Spike got up from the couch and took a few steps towards the purple unicorn. “Twilight did you--”
“Shh!” the Element of Magic hastily hissed. Her eyes were moving from side to side as though she was reading a book. Slowly, oh so slowly, the darting of her eyes became less erratic as a smile formed on her face. “I think I might have a solution,” the mare declared. She turned to Spike and Sweetie Belle and nodded. “Just give me a minute, I have to find one of my more esoteric texts.”
Before the interspecies couple could offer any protest Twilight winked out before them as she teleported. Spike lowered the claw he had lifted and placed it back on the ground. He looked back at Sweetie Belle who was smiling.
“What?” he asked with a shrug.
“She hasn’t changed one bit in all these years,” the mare replied. “She’s never been one to catch the subtle details. She still gets so focused when there’s a problem she’s convinced she can solve. Not to mention how she’s always there for friends and family.”
“Yeah, that’s Twi,” Spike said as he reached up to his face. “Sharp as a whistle in everything except the more sensitive social topics. Much to the chagrin of the stallions in Ponyville... and several mares.”
Sweetie Belle giggled. “Maybe when this is done with I can start pointing out the signs to her. Make it a little easier for her to notice?”
Before Spike could reply Twilight returned in a flash of purple light. “Found it!” she yelled. “I knew there was a reason I kept this book. Okay, just need one other thing...” Twilight floated over a textbook on dragon anatomy and set it beside the book she had teleported in with. Spike walked over to the two books as Twilight opened both and continued her speech.
“Alright so you and Sweetie Belle can’t copulate because your penis possesses barbs that in mating with another female dragon would normally prevent her from escaping. But female dragons are adapted to to this with scales that are resistant to tearing and also a ribbed structure that allows the spines to--”
“Twilight we know what the problem is and why it wouldn’t be if I had found a girl dragon,” Spike interrupted. “But how does this anatomy lesson help me be with Sweetie Belle without hurting her?”
Sweetie Belle stood up from the couch and approached Twilight and Spike. The purple unicorn took a deep breath before continuing. “Transfiguration,” she answered flatly.
Spike’s head fins twitched as his eyes widened and his jaw dropped loosely. “Transformation magic?” he mumbled.
“Exactly, I cast a spell to alter Sweetie Belle’s physiology to that of a draconic maiden, that way she’d be able to endure... well... you.” Twilight smiled sheepishly as Spike stared into the distance.
“But Twilight, w-what about the other way around? Why can’t y-you turn Spike into a pony?” Sweetie Belle asked with a slight shake in her voice.
“Dragons are immune to most magic that directly manipulates them, and it only becomes more so after adolescence,” Twilight answered. “Remember how I used to be able to give Spike a moustache? Not anymore,” she added with a shake of her head.
“Would this be permanent?” Sweetie Belle asked.
“Thankfully not,” the amethyst-eyed unicorn responded. “The spell would only be a partial transformation, up to a point, I couldn’t mimic spell immunity. So eventually the magic would be rejected by your system, and you’ll change back.”
Spike and Sweetie Belle looked at eachother and gave wide grins. They turned to Twilight and collectively announced, “Do it.”
Twilight looked around nervously with her eyes before opening her mouth to speak. “Okay, just a few things. I’ll have to cast a numbing spell on you first, that will keep you from experiencing any pain. You’ll feel discomfort, but nothing excruciating.” She looked at Sweetie Belle until the white mare gestured with her hoof, moving it in a circle, to go on. “So the transformation will likely last a day without any reversion, maybe less if I put less magic into it. After that you’ll start changing back, that will be very slowly unless you come back here for another spell, in which case I could change you back quickly.”
“What if I wanted to uhhhh... have the spell refreshed?” Sweetie Belle asked as she leaned up against Spike, wrapping her tail around his left hind leg.
“I’m sorry, but this spell is really going to take it out of me. I’d need about a week to recover.” Twilight lifted up the transfiguration tome in her magic and began flipping through the pages as she continued. “Now, as a dragon you won’t have any magic, but you’ll be able to grab stuff with your claws. Be sure not to breath too heavily either or you might accidentally give a little shot of flame.”
Spike lifted an eyebrow in incredulity. Twilight noticed it and added, “Oh! But uh, Spike could probably teach you how to control your breathing in an hour. Fire control is mostly just a developmental stage rather than a skill. Once Spike grew his wings we never lost a book due to him sneezing.” Spike blushed slightly at the memory of several novels he had accidentally damaged or sent to Canterlot, only to have them return two weeks later by way of post.
Sweetie Belle looked down at her hooves before her face brightened in curiosity. “What about children? Is there any...” The white mare pursed her lips and and looked back down. “No, that wouldn’t work would it? I’d turn back before anything could be fertilized.” Twilight gave a short nod and reached over to Sweetie Belle’s shoulder with a hoof. “That’s okay, Spike and I plan to adopt.”
With one more resolute nod, Twilight stepped back. “Okay, Sweetie Belle, if you could stand over there.” Twilight pointed with her head to an empty corner of the foyer. “I can get started.”
Sweetie Belle gave Spike an affectionate nuzzle before trotting off to the corner Twilight had indicated. She tilted her head and asked her in-law, “Should I be sitting or standing for this?”
“Definitely lying down,” Twilight answered. Sweetie Belle lowered herself to the ground, folded her hooves underneath her and gave a quick nod. “Okay,” Twilight said to herself. “Starting with the anesthetic spell.”
Twilight’s horn glowed a deep purple as a same-colored aura surrounded Sweetie Belle. The white mare felt a tickling sensation at first, like a thousand pieces of string being trailed across her body. It started from the tail and worked up her flank, over her withers, and terminated at the end of her nose. After the tendrils had moved along her body she felt a slight sting wherever the spell had touched, and it was followed by numbness. As the sensation moved up her neck, Sweetie let her head fall on her forehooves. When the magic finally worked over her nose one final time she gave a sneeze.
“Are you okay Sweetie Belle?” Twilight asked.
“Yeth,” the white mare responded. She gave a weak smile at her lisp. “Ah thoun’ liake Twitht!” she giggled. Her eyes felt heavy, not that she was tired, but her eyelids were simply numb. She closed her eyes and smiled contently when she felt Spike place a hand on her side.
“Okay, Sweetie Belle, do you want me to cast a sleeping spell as well?” Twilight asked. “It’d drain me a little more, which means less time to spend with Spike after the transformation. But that also means no discomfort.”
Sweetie opened a single eye and looked between her husband and Twilight. Spike was looking worriedly at her. “No thleep thpell Twi,” Sweetie answered. Spike opened his mouth to protest but was cut off when Sweetie Belle added. “Ah put ahp with pain. Ah can han’le thith.”
Spike nodded and patted Sweetie Belle one more time before he stepped back. He cast a quick glance to Twilight to see her looking at him. She inclined her head and then faced Sweetie Belle. The purple unicorn’s horn began to glow again as she focused her energies into the difficult spell before her. She’d attempted it twice on herself in Spike’s adolescence, in a rather bull-rush attempt at resolving his claims of ‘you just don’t understand’. Those had been a long two weeks. Waiting to get her magic back, hiding from her friends, and Spike smugly laughing every time she damaged a book with her claws.
Arcs of magical charge leapt from Twilight’s horn. At first they fell a few inches in front of her. The unicorn winced as she concentrated on the pool of magic she would need to draw upon. As more power was added to the spell the arcs bounded the distance towards Sweetie Belle in increments.
“HHHHNNNGHH!” Twilight grunted as her knees began shaking. At last the whips of arcane energy lashed around Sweetie Belle in a furied mass. The white unicorn quivered slightly at the immense energies crackling around her. Spike took a step towards his love when he was stopped by Twilight’s voice.
“Don’t interrupt, it’s almost over!” she yelled in an ethereal voice. Spike looked over and saw that her eyes were glowing white. He backpedalled out of the way in compliance and observed from a distance.
The purple tendrils touched Sweetie Belle on occasion as they twitched erratically. When they did so they stuck fast and ceased moving. As the final piece of the spell fell into place, wrapping around the mare’s horn, Twilight smiled. The purple unicorn began focusing on dragons, not what they looked like, or any particular image of how Twilight imagined Sweetie Belle would look like as one, but the idea of a dragon in and of itself. Stripped of all variable components Twilight visualized the base form of a dragon. When the form was locked, she released the final component of the spell and there was a flash of white and purple light from Sweetie Belle as the tendrils flew away in a blast.
Twilight finally allowed herself the luxury of sitting as she slumped to the ground. Sweat beaded all over her body as she panted. “You should have... twenty four hours... before she... starts...” Twilight gulped and took a deep breath. “Turning back,” she finished.
Spike lowered his arm that had shielded him from the light show and looked over at where his wife was lying. “Uh, Twilight? Sweetie’s isn’t a dragon.”
“Give it a minute,” she replied dryly. “I already took notes from seven years ago. I really need a glass of water. Be sure and keep her calm. That means tell her what’s going on.” With that the purple mare stood back up and stepped wearily to the kitchen.
Spike stood up and approached his wife slowly. She still had her cutie mark, her mane, her soft fur. “Sweetie, are you awake?” the purple dragon asked cautiously.
“Bawely,” the still pony before him replied.
“Do you feel anything? Pain? Discomfort?”
“Thight,” Sweetie Belle answered with an angry undertone.
“Tightness? Where?” Spike took another step towards his wife and arched his neck so his face was level with hers.
Sweetie Belle stretched and worked her lips a little bit. “Shoulders, b-spine! Stomach! Everything!” Sweetie’s sides started heaving outwards as two bumps started forming on her shoulders. “Ugh,” Sweetie groaned as she stretched out her legs. A snapping sound emanated from each as she did so. Spike flinched at the sound as he watched the process unfold.
By Celestia, Twilight had to go through this alone? Spike thought as the bumps continued to stretch the skin along his wife’s back and sides. “Doesn’t that hurt?” he asked.
“Too numb, but-- ARGH!”
“What is it? Tell me where it hurts!” Spike yelled as he rushed to his love.
Sweetie Belle’s face contorted as she snarled. Spike could see her teeth all lengthen and sharpen to a killer’s edge as blood trickled along her gums. Spike’s attention to his wife’s new dental equipment was drawn away when he looked to her back. The two bumps had extended over her head and stretched the skin taut. The two fleshy spires quivered from the resistance until the fur gave, and a claw pushed through each.
“Spike? What’s happening to my back?” Sweetie Belle asked meekly.
“Wings, your wings are coming in,” Spike replied.
Sweetie Belle could feel a new presence on her back but wasn’t quite certain what to make of them. She tried moving her shoulders and she felt the alien appendages shift. As she continued to move what she assumed were her wings, the tightness that had been plaguing her dissipated. As she continued her movements however a new tightness formed in her tail. It felt like it was ballooning up.
Spike looked at his wife’s flayed side. The constant shifting of her newly formed wings had torn up most of the skin and fur. It hung on by a few strands here and there. Below the white flesh were pristine white scales. They were bright and pearlescent, reflecting the sunlight that reached into the library. A thumping sound caught the purple dragon’s attention before he could admire the luminescent qualities of his wife’s new draconic hide. He looked at her flank and saw that her tail had distended, lengthened, and swelled to the point that it was of the same mass as his own. Her tail hair had fallen out and lay on the ground.
Sweetie Belle moved her tail again and a small jolt moved up her body from the impact. The partially formed dragon could feel a tension along her neck and underneath her ears.
“Spike is my neck all stretchy?” she asked with a little more vigor than when Twilight had first cast the spell.
Spike looked over at his wife’s head and neck. It had lengthened, and fins and spines were poking out of her mane. Her ears were bent at odd angles.
A cracking sound emanated from Sweetie Belle’s face and she crossed her eyes to look at her muzzle. It was stretching, becoming longer and somewhat pointed. Sweetie could hear more cracks but they were muffled, any attempt she made to move her ears was useless.
Spike leaped back slightly when the mare’s ears fell off to reveal a set of soft purple and pink head-fins. A set of spines running down her neck where her mane had been stood up and cut some loose strands of flesh.
Sweetie Belle breathed gently as all the sensations of growth, cracking, snapping and bending ceased on her face and body. “Spike? How do--”
CRACK!
A final snap caused Sweetie Belle’s hooves to fly off. Below the Spike could see four newly clawed feet.
“Okaaaay... that’s long enough,” the white dragoness announced with exasperation as she stretched herself out. Loose bits of skin and fur that were still attached soon fell off. Sweetie placed her four feet on the ground on the ground and lifted herself up, allowing Spike to take her all in.
Her scales were white, whiter than her fur had been. They were polished and shining to a crisp glint that threw off light every time she moved. Her wings had folded at her side. The membranes were the same soft pink that had once suffused her mane. Sweetie Belle turned to Spike and he noticed her pupils were still round. On her head were fins and dreadlock-like tendrils that were either a soft purple or pink.
Sweetie Belle sat on the ground and a dreadlock fell in front of her eye. “Woah,” she said as she reached up with a claw to the hued mass. Her hand stopped once it entered her vision. She turned her arm in front of her and was dazzled by her scales. The new dragon flexed her tongue slightly, and noted it felt much thinner. She reached it over to her teeth and stroked the calcinous spikes that formed a neat row along her jaw. She smiled as she looked over to Spike.
“How do I look?” she asked. The ivory dragon turned her head while maintaining eye contact with Spike, trying to give was she imagine was a demure look.
“As beautiful as on our wedding day,” the husband answered. “Can you walk?”
In response Sweetie Belle stood up and sauntered over to Spike. She made sure to flex every muscle that could possibly be used in locomotion so that her love could see them all flex underneath her skin. She walked past Spike and flicked his nose with her tail. She put a little too much force behind it and made him grab his nose briefly.
“Sorry!” she exclaimed as she turned around quickly.
“It’s alright, I’m sure we’ll get it all worked out in the next little bit,” Spike answered as he looked at his wife fondly.
Sweetie Belle gave out a deep sigh but quickly shut her mouth when she felt flames. She grinned sheepishly when smoke seeped out of her nostrils. It was then that Sweetie Belle’s stomach growled. The dragoness blushed deeply as she shot a quick glance downwards.
“I suppose I’ll have to share some of my gems with you when we get home,” Spike stated amusedly.
“You better, when I cast that spell on myself way back when I was famished!” Spike and Sweetie Belle turned to the kitchen door to see Twilight leaning against the door frame with a smile on her face and a warm shine to her eyes.
“Twilight I can’t thank you enough for this,” Spike said as he took Sweetie’s front paws in his own.
“We can’t thank you enough,” Sweetie amended as she leaned in to kiss Spike.
“Hey now, I thought you said you didn’t want me to be around for this sort of thing!” the purple unicorn chuckled.
Spike pulled himself back prematurely to feel a blush matching Sweetie Belle’s spread over his muzzle. “Heh, we probably should take this home.”
Love is the Best Lubricant
Spike laid a bowl on the floor at the foot of Sweetie’s and his bed. In it were more than enough gems to make a diamond dog punch out his own mother in order to get them. Rubies, emeralds, sapphires, topazes, amethysts, garnets, aquamarines, and a selection of every mare’s best friend: diamonds.
Sweetie Belle looked up at her husband and fluttered her eyes saccharinely. “You spoil me,” she said as she reached into the bowl and plucked out an amethyst absentmindedly. She continued to look at Spike until the jewel hovered in front of her mouth. She crossed her eyes to look at the gem. “What’s it like?”
“Ever chew a set of pop rocks?” Spike asked in reply.
“Hmmmm...” Sweetie Belle’s lips curved downward slightly as she contemplated the response. She opened her mouth and deposited the precious stone on her tongue. She closed her mouth, and then waited. After a few seconds of absolutely nothing happening Spike chuckled at Sweetie Belle.
“Didn’t your mom ever tell you to chew your food?”
The pastel-finned dragon positioned the stone between her teeth and pressed lightly with her jaw. As she increased the pressure she could sense the small fractures that began to web their way across the surface of the stone. When she gave one final squeeze the gem shattered in her mouth and bathed her mouth in the magical energies held within. The taste of grape suffused her mouth as she worked the fragments around to chew down the larger chunks.
When she at last swallowed Sweetie Belle stuck out her tongue. “That answer your question?” she inquired playfully. The purple dragon reached over to the bowl and plucked out a sapphire. He waved it in front of his wife’s tongue and grinned.
“Betcha can’t eat this using just your tongue!” he cooed. Sweetie Belle’s tongue quivered around to continue pointing at the gem as it was waved before her. Spike eventually stopped moving to let the gemstone lie in front of Sweetie’s tongue. Focusing on her reformed muscle, the white dragon stretched out until its point was well past the gem. She then curled it around the gem until it formed a loose lasso. She then carefully tightened the coil until Spike was certain she had a firm grip. It was then that Spike let go of the gem and his wife was left to support the weight herself. Her tongue drooped slightly as she brought the gem into her mouth and chomped on it.
Sweetie Belle smiled before lifting a jewel and waving it about Spike’s snout. Spike’s tongue snaked around the gemstone as he reached into the bowl himself and waved a large ruby in front of his wife’s mouth. The two fed each other in that manner for several minutes until all the crystalline minerals were gone. The dragoness reached over to her husband’s chin and slowly trailed her claw down to his belly.
Spike looked up at her and smiled. “Feel like going to bed after that?”
Sweetie Belle’s claw continue downwards until she stroked Spike’s sheath. Many layers of scales went to protecting a male dragon’s most precious asset, besides his hoard. She withdrew the claw and leaped onto the bed. She turned around and sat looking at her husband as he clambered into bed as well. He stepped over to her and closed his eyes as he brought his lips to hers.
Sweetie Belle parted her lips and granted Spike’s tongue entry as she penetrated his mouth with her own serpentine taster. The two tongues met and immediately started coiling around each other almost by reflex. Spike’s tried to wrap around Sweetie’s in a playful test of wills, but the white dragon’s tongue slipped out and tried to subdue her husband’s own whip-like appendage. Striking and wrapping, sliding and coiling and wrestling: the two dragons continued this proverbial battle of the sexes for minutes until they finally withdrew.
They were looking fondly into each other's eyes when Sweetie Belle blinked as she felt the fin along her neck raise. Spike wordlessly reached around her neck and ran the back of his paw over the semi-translucent stretch of skin. When his index plucked at a spine like a harp string a pleasured jolt ran down the length of his dragoness. As Spike’s fingers continued to agitate Sweetie’s reptilian frill she could feel a warmth building up inside of her.
“Mmmmm, hah! Uuunhh...” Sweetie’s eyes fluttered as Spike reached the last of her neck spines. She looked down herself to see a few drips had leaked out of her in the anticipation. Her gaze then turned to her husband to see that he was at full mast. The white dragon looked at the purple and grinned. “Any time I want to turn you on I just have to make those noises you like.”
Spike reached over to his partner’s lips and pressed a claw to them. He stepped a little closer and wrapped his other arm around her neck, drawing her close. When they were chest-to-chest Spike coiled his tail around Sweetie Belle’s rump. By some natural instinct Sweetie Belle did the same to her husband. The two lovers resumed kissing and engaging in a romantic duel of tongues as they wrapped their arms and legs around each other.
Sweetie Belle could feel her husband’s penis poking at her belly just above her slit. She looked around and flexed her wings. She then had an idea; she stretched her wings out as a third set of limbs to wrap around Spike. The purple dragon flexed his own wings and covered Sweetie with them. To the outside observer they would have looked like a scaled ball with spines and fins coming out every so often.
Inside the heat from their collective breath made Sweetie Belle grow even more wet as she grabbed her husband’s erect member and adjusted it until it lay directly over her entrance. Sweetie gazed at her husband who was smiling with a bit of worry tinging his eyes.
“Think you’ll be able to handle it this time?” he asked.
In response Sweetie Belle grinned coyly. “I was made for this.” With that she began pressing herself against Spike’s spire as he pushed in himself. The entrance went smoothly despite his penile barbs. If anything in this new body Sweetie’s pleasure was heightened. The little spikes on Spike’s spike rubbed against her insides and set off fireworks in the dragoness’ brain. “Guuuuuaaahhhhhggghhrrrr!” she exclaimed in a volume her husband was not used to.
“Good hurt?” he questioned with a lifted brow.
“No, just good,” Sweetie giggled as she guided her husband deeper inside.
Spike felt his member twitch in ecstasy as he pressed further into his love. This was leagues better than the telekinetic ministrations that his wife had perfected over months of finding some way around their problem. Now the problem could simply be gone through . As Spike scraped along the insides of his wife she cooed softly before he felt a new resistance.
Sweetie Belle swallowed and looked down at her husband. “Finally going to do it!” she said excitedly. “Now this will hurt a little bit no matter what you do, so if I yelp don’t stop.” Spike looked up at his wife and saw her eyes glistening with tears of joy. He nodded and slowly pushed against her hymen. In a few seconds he pushed through the barrier and Sweetie Belle grunted in discomfort. Spike stopped pressing as he waited for his dragoness to get through the sharp pain that had gone through her.
Sweetie waited as the sharp penetration died down to a dull aching throb that simply tightened herself against Spike’s penis. She began to move her hips back and forth against her husband and pressed her lips to his. They exchanged a deep kiss as Spike moved in time with his wife’s motions. There was no competition in this kiss: the two simply entwined their tongues and let their hot breath wash over each other’s faces.
The couple’s rhythmic grinding continued as Spike drove himself deeper into Sweetie Belle. Eventually, he was burying himself full-shaft into her with each thrust. A pleasured squeak escaped the dragoness’ mouth as the barbs roughly stroked the inside of her vagina. A warmth permeated Sweetie’s chest as she felt her toes become numb. Spike pounded into his wife with a greater fervor and soon she felt a pressure building in her nethers.
Spike approached his own climax as he opened his eyes to look into Sweetie’s, their tongues still locked. Her eyes were pleading for him to complete them. Adjusting his arms, Spike drove himself into Sweetie Belle, causing his wife to peak with him. Sweetie felt her insides become washed with Spike’s copious amounts of semen, warming up her insides as it bathed every crevice within her gully.
In the throes of ecstasy both dragon’s wings pulled back from each other as a sweltering pressure built in their chests. Before either of them could know what was going on they let out a deluge of fire into each other’s still locked mouths. It wasn’t a warming feeling, but tingling like chewing on mint. The fires of their hearts bathed each other’s mouths in an inferno concealed by their lips. When the blaze died down they finally pulled back.
“That wasn’t in any of the textbooks Twilight gave me!” Spike chuckled while Sweetie simply blinked. The two unraveled their limbs and extricated themselves from one another. The white dragon spooned up against her husband as he played with her fins.
“She’s going to be asking questions for weeks you know,” Sweetie Belle said as an amused smile spread over her long muzzle.
“Yeah, that should be entertaining.” Spike rolled his eyes as he continued twirling some of Sweetie’s dreadlocks with a claw.
“I could always distract Twilight, point out the looks Big MacIntosh gives her whenever she helps Applejack during harvest.” Sweetie Belle turned to look at her husband. He had a big grin on his face. “What?” she asked.
“If you manage that, when I teach you how to fly, we get to try doing this midair.”
Sweetie’s eyes opened wide at the prospect. “Is that even possible?”
“I’m becoming a powerful enough flyer to pull out apple trees while flying,” Spike replied. “We find a lake to do it over, I hold you--”
Spike was distracted by the feeling of his erect member pressing against Sweetie Belle’s belly.
“Or we could continue with a more... grounded approach right now,” Sweetie offered.
Spike extended a wing over her head, turning her vision a shade of purple as light shafted through his translucent wing. “Sounds wonderful.”
