The Assassins' Ascent
Chapter 6: History and Memories
Previous Chapter"Wait for it..." An explosion followed by a scream came from outside the cave, "Haha! Success!" Discord looked over at Luna, who happened to be still tied up, and upside-down. "How's the head rush?" He said while walking towards her, magically spinning her around. Her face started turning green and her eyes started going in improper directions. Discord couldn't help but to chuckle. "We- I won't t-tell you anyt-thing." He picked her up and said, "You're really stubborn you know that?" She nodded slowly.
He continued to the exit of the cave and stood on the cliff, "Look at it," He said while gesturing towards the land, "Soon it'll be all mine again." Discord noticed something near Canterlot, "What's this?" He said while dropping Luna. Binoculars appeared on his paw and he used it. A small black figure falling with the all too familiar element of loyalty, Rainbow Dash. Zooming in closer, he realized the figure was bipedal.
Discord knew what this meant. "Looks like that's my cue." He grinned mischievously, "Luna, I'll be leaving again, don't destroy the cave while I'm gone." He turned back to Luna and saw her conjuring spells and launching them in random directions. "Side-effect of the read rush." Sighing to himself, he jumped off the cliff and flew towards the assassin.
Ezio scanned the area for the source of the voice. After finding nothing, he closed his eyes for a quick second, and opened them. Everything he was now seeing was covered in blue and black. Now scanning the shadows, he noticed a faint blue light in the darkness.
"Show yourself!" Ezio yelled.
A cloaked pony covered in black and white stripes emerged from the shadows. Upon closer inspection, it was a zebra. The two remained silent for what seemed like hours.
Ezio stared at the zebra while dangling from the tree upside-down. They inspected each other carefully, as if the other was going to attack. The zebra circled around the tree, inspecting the assassin from the ground.
"Are you just going to stand there, or are you going to help me?" Ezio asked.
The zebra raised a brow, "The only way to make the tree ease, is to simply ask it please."
Ezio shot the zebra 'are you kidding me?' look, then back to the tree. "Does it look like the tree is going to help?" Ezio deadpanned for a second at 'tree'.
The zebra snorted, "If you want stay that way, fine by me, but I do not care if you take your time to see." She trotted back into the darkness, leaving the assassin alone.
Ezio thought for a moment and looked at the tree.
"Uh, please?" Nothing happened. Sighing to himself, he looked at the tree again.
"Please let go." He asked the tree.
Nothing happened.
"This was a waste of my ti-."He was cut short a soon as the branches' grip loosened, causing Ezio to fall... on his face. Mumbling to himself while getting up and brushing himself off, he followed the Zebras' tracks. While walking, he noticed she dropped an object, "Hey!" Ezio shouted, "You dropped your..." Taking a good look at it, he noticed it was one of the Masyaf keys or a memory holder. "What is this doing here?" He focused on the object, sudden memories that were not his began to mix with his own. Suddenly, he was greeted by a white flash.
Celestia was trotting in her library, looking for a scroll. She glanced outside, it was getting late. Luna was supposed to raise the moon by now. "I guess I'll have to cover for tonight..." She thought to herself. She sighed to herself and continued searching. "Ah, there it is!" Using her magic to envelope the scroll in a golden aura, she looked at the symbol on it. She opened the scroll and turned to face the mane six. "Are you ready for the tale you are about to hear? Be warned; this is not a story for the soft ones."
"Oh, okay." Fluttershy said softly and trotted away from the rest of the group.
"Are you ready?" Celestia asked the others. They nodded in approval. "Then let us begin..."
Altaïr made his way to the chair, slowly and fragilely. These were his last moments, and he intended to leave this world without fear. Moving his hand to the seat to be sure, he sat down and gazed at his surroundings. The library, now a vault, was filled with nothing except the artifact and the dust of age.
"No one must know, not until the time has come..." Altaïr closed his eyes and exhaled, for the last time. Silence filled the room. Soon after, his skin turned into golden dust, falling off one by one quickly. The dust then retreated to the artifact, leaving nothing except the bones and clothes of Altaïr.
Celestia stood on the balcony by herself. Her horn glowed a magnificent golden color, shining as bright as a star. The process of setting the sun was nearly complete.
A single drop of sweat fell from her muzzle.
The sun slowly descended until there was nothing but the pinkish colors of the sky. Soon after the sun set, a pure gold explosion came from the sunset.
She closed her eyes and calmed her breath, then her horn glowed again, even brighter than the original. The moon can be seen in the distance.
More sweat began to pour.
Celestia grunted in effort to raise the moon, this was her first time raising it. Memories of her and Luna began to interfere with the process.
"Must... Stay... Focused!" Her horn glowed brighter than ever and the moon was successfully raised. She collapsed and fell to the floor. The memories of her and Luna began to pour into her mind. A single tear fell from her face as she closed her eyes.
Golden dust was being carried in the wind.
The dust made its way into an open window whilst Celestia watched it in curiosity. The dust began to spread across the floor, painting everything in gold. Soon it covered the entire room. Celestia rose up and watched the dust. She walked to the wall and saw a clear reflection of herself.
Seemingly out of nowhere, she saw Luna standing behind her in the reflection, smiling. Celestia quickly turned around in hopes to seeing Luna. She was only to met by dust forming itself into one spot. The dust receded from the walls and began to focus on one spot, the center of the room. The dust began to look like a figure lying down. Soon, the dust stopped moving and began to dim, revealing colors from the figure.
"What is this?" Celestia spoke to herself.
The dust was no longer glowing, and the form wore white clothing that was covered in dirt. Celestia approached it cautiously, careful not to awake it, even if it was dead. The figures' eyes opened widely, the he shot up and took an large amount of breath, scaring Celestia in the process.
The figure looked around frantically and confused, having no idea where he was. His eyes rested upon Celestia, who was giving him a strange look. He stood up, finding he was slightly taller than her. He then fell on his left knee and his right fist on the floor.
"I am prepared to receive judgement."
"You mean to tell me there was another human?" Twilight asked, clearly taken aback by the scroll's saying.
"Well, yes, but this human was found after I banished Nightmare Moon," Celestia replied.
"And he and Ezio looked almost alike?"
"They looked exactly alike."
"How so?" Rarity asked.
"Their clothing were the same, except Ezio's were black-"
"Did he have a beard?" Pinkie chimed in.
"No, but it seemed that-"
"Why did go an' hurt the feller anyway? He ain't all that bad," Applejack spoke up.
"Please understand, it was a necessary precaution-"
"Necessary? I don't understand why hurting anypony is necessary..." Fluttershy spoke quietly.
"Enough!" Celestia stomped a hoof, causing them to flinch. "Excuse me for my rude interruption, but if you will please remain quiet and allow me to explain then I would be happy to oblige."
The girls remained seated and quiet.
Celestia cleared her throat...
Ezio tumbled backwards, mixed emotions ran through his system.
"What was Altaïr doing here?"
He stood up and brushed himself off, then pondered at his recent memory. This TRULY was a confusing thing, Altaïr was here before him, and a few centuries later Ezio follows his footsteps. His thoughts was interrupted shortly after being blinded by a quick, white flash. What stood before him was probably the most confusing and disgusting thing he had ever seen.
"Hello~."
