The End of an Era

You smile, as you watch another episode of Friendship is Magic. Undoubtedly, so are many others. You laugh, and smile, as the episode goes on. The six ponies talk about the times they had, and moments of episodes flash before your eyes. You, too, recall these memories that you’ve had with these ponies. Times where you were beside them in the Everfree Forest. When you helped them through many of the show’s villains. You recalled the friendship reports, and the laughter and fun the characters all shared. Your eyes began to water slightly, as these memories began to flood. You think back to when you first saw the show. How you thought of it, and what caused you to finally enjoy it. You think of those times when you tried to connect these ponies to your daily life. The effect they had on you, and that you had on others. Those times when you felt sad, and you decided to re-watch an old episode. Those times the ponies made you feel truly happy. You thought about those times you waited for each new episode to come out. Waiting to see what new trick Rainbow would have. What new task Celestia would have for Twilight. You slumped down. Everybody thought the show wouldn’t last more than four seasons. They were proved wrong, but it was obvious the show wouldn’t last much longer. You wondered what would happy to your friends. The ponies you had shared memories with, their memories. You knew this show wasn’t supposed to have ever appealed to your tastes, but it somehow did. You knew the show wouldn’t last forever, even though deep down you hoped it would. You knew that as time came to pass, the show would fade out. You frowned at the thought of forgetting what the show had been to you, and many others. The Cutie Mark Crusaders, the background ponies, the main six. So much had come from the show. You thought of what people created from the show. Fan fictions, music, fan art. You smiled, as you realized a show that had that much effect wouldn’t easily be forgotten. You vaguely notice that you hadn’t been paying much attention to this episode, and you cursed yourself. You noticed the episode was coming to a close. You vaguely realized something. There was a song playing. The main theme for the show was playing softly, as the show began to pan out. Big adventure, tons of fun, a beautiful heart, faithful and strong, sharing kindness, and magic makes it all complete. As it faded, it faded past Canterlot, and Cloudsdale, and Ponyville. The credits began to roll, and it hit you as well as it hit many others. The credits were much longer than they normally were. You mouthed the words, “no”, knowing that it was over. The tears that you had been trying to hold back from the start of this episode were now falling free. The credits ended, thanking the community that you were a part of. The brony community. You cried to yourself, knowing that this was it. You wouldn’t see those ponies you had memories with anymore. The ponies you had grown to know, and the ones that taught you to laugh more, and to smile more. You turned the television off and sunk into your chair. You knew this wasn’t something you should be crying over, yet your face was soaked with tears. You wiped away your tears. You sat there, in sadness and thought. If you couldn’t have the ponies you enjoyed the company of so much, you decided that you would make the world more like theirs. You would try to become a nicer person, and laugh more, and to share joy with others. You didn’t know how you would do it, but you decided you would. For those ponies you shared memories with, the ponies you laughed and cried with, you would.
